Connecting To Reporting Services With SQL Client

I am trying to connect to reporting services with the SQL client (SQL server management studio), I get an error message saying
The machine could not be found (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)
This is a new install of reporting services, I can connect to the reporting services reports site without a problem. I am working with the DBA, he can connect through the SQL client and on the sql/rs server side i have system admin. But i still cannot connect.
If you add me on to the system admin of the OS i can connect but i dont need that permissions. Ive tried just about everything. Any suggestions?

I initially installed VS 2008 with no problems. It installed SQL EXPRESS. I then installed SQL Developer edition. Still No problem with connecting or using the database. I picked up problems setting up Reporting services. I could not configure the server. I then decided to unistall SQL and re-install the developer edition. Now, I cannot even connect to the server.

Does anyone know the steps I need to take to update the version of reporting services from C.0.8.40 to C.0.8.43?
My connection error occurred during my attempt to move a database from one server to another using detach and attach. After successfully attaching the databases to the new server I got the following error:
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.8.43'. The expected version is 'C.0.8.40'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase) (Report Services SOAP Proxy Source)

Reporting Services :: Connecting SSRS With Java Servlet
Mar 30, 2013I am developing a J2ee application in which the the Java servlet communicate with the MS reporting services through URL Access. I am using Apache tomcat as application server to run Java servlets. Servlet gets report name, its parameters and forms an URL and send a request to SSRS. The problem is that the RS is not returning any cookie . And I get [HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request].
Both my Reporting server and the Tomcat server are running in Same machine. Reporting Services and MS SQL Server 2008 R2 are configured for Windows Integrated authentication.To login to the Reporting server i am using my local system Administrator.

Hi,
I'm new to SSRS but have a problem connecting to Oracle. I have placed my reports upon a reporting server but the shared data connection isn't working and I'm confused as to why. I have specified the name, connection type as "Oracle", set the correct user id and password for the credentials and the connection string as for example 'Data Source=oracleExample;Unicode="True"'. I also have set the correct entry in the tnsnames.ora file for this datasource, example:

I'm mystified as to what the issue is. Any ideas? Would restarting the report server pick up the tnsnames.ora file? I have this working locally using report designer.

I have the data source correctly set-up thought. Is it a permissions problem?

Reporting Services :: Connecting To Two Different Data-sources (Excel And Database) In SSRS?
Sep 22, 2015I have a requirement where we have to connect to two different data-sources one is Database Table and another one is Excel Source. I know we can do this by creating a SSIS package and loading the excel data into database table and then based on some relationship between the tables we can create the data-set in SSRS. But I am looking for some other approach where I can do this without creating the SSIS package.

I have been configuring my website with the following:
I have my domain residing on a webserver with SQL Server 2005, and the database (an sql server 2000 db) which I am connecting to reside on another web.
Now when I try to connect to the to the remote database from SQL Server 2005, it gives me error, something like When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. or maybe An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Any suggestions will be welcomed :)

We have two server on pulbilc ip A , B in other country, and there replication will working fine. But i want to replicate data from one online server(A) to my local office(in my country) server(C). means from public ip to private(A->C). then some one told me that you have to put both server on public for replication. after the i put my local server(c) on public ip. but now i am facing the problem that i am able to connect C to A(means my office server to other country server) but not able to connect A to C(means other country server to my office server). when i am connecting from A to C then error shows is "defaut sqlserver server does not allow remote connection". I am having problem with our network. We run a clinic database system that uses SQLServer 2000 Enterprise as the backend, and Microsoft Access on the front end.
I have had a running problem with all our newer machines (which run Windows 2000 or XP) in that while it connects to the server and retrieves some of the info properly, on some of the pages it doesnt. It will take 2 or 3 minutes for a page of the database to load, and even then not all the information will be retrieved properly.
I was able to fix the problem on the Windows 2000 machines by replacing the Sqlsrv32.dll file with an older version (usually with 3.70.06.23). And then the W2000 machines would work. But for some reason, the XP machines wont accept the older sqlsrv32.dll file...it gives me this error:
SQLState: 'HY000'
SQL Server Error: 126 Unable to load communication module driver correctly.
....and i cant seem to downgrade the MDAC....
any ideas on what I can do?

I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified.
Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases
Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database

remotely. if the db is on the same system , the package is running
fine. But when i try to connect to a remote db, i get the following
error
Failed to acquire connection "[DBName]". Connection may not be
configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this
connection.
I have already allowed remote connections on the db server using the SQL server surface are configuration utility.
Can any body tell me the issue.

I have a database of Sql server 2000 in one of my windows XP machine. when iam trying to connect that database from other machine i am getting sql server does n't exist message. I can able to connect the sqlserver through the Enterprise manager but i can not connect the sqlserver through code.
I already used the same code to connect the sql server in windows 2000 machine and i connected to the database without any problem. but iam facing the problem with windows XP machine.
can any body help me to solve this problem.

Dec 19, 2007hello eveyone..i have just downloaded and installed the visaul web developer 2005 express edition and sqlserver 2005 express edition.On top of that i even downloaded and installed the northwind database.But my problem is when i am connecting to the northwind database by clicking toos menu>connect to the database>choose datasource>new connection>..i have provided it with the required information..but as soon as i press "Test Connection" button the following error box displays.. "an error has occured while establishing a connection to the server.when connecting to the sql server2005,this failure may be caused by the fact that under default settings sql server doestnot allow remote connections.(provider:Named piped providers,error:40-couldnot open a connection to sqlserver.)" i have no idea whats is all about..can anyone get me pass this error..

Dec 6, 2006I'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets?
Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.

Currently: We use currently devexpress reports and we have 2 languages(Arabic and English). the data in tables saved in two ways (Arabic and English). when the end user change the language of the web site the report data language changed when run it.
Example:

Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?

I try to uninstall and re-install again, it remain not work.

1. Directly point to OLTP database as source and write stored procedure to show result set.
2. Replicate the database and write the SP's to reports. To avoid pointing directly to OLTP db.
3. To build the datawarehouse with dim & facts to show it in reports. I prefer this as a standard method, but this would have some latency depending on trasaction load which will differ from the requirement.

I see that the system tables do provide some of this information, is there a 3rd party tool or something we can use to gather all this type of information for us?

Aug 22, 2007I am having trouble getting my IS package to connect to an AS database when I schedule the package as a job.
The package executes fine through BI Development Studio, but I get the following error in the package log when I run the job step:

Here is the connection string I am using in both BI Dev Studio and the job:

The AS server is set up to allow remote connections, and the user I am connecting as is an administrator on the AS server.

SQL 2005 SP2 Reporting Services And Window SharePoint Services V3 Integration Config Issue

I have just install SQL 2005 SP2 and trying to get Window SharePoint Services V3 integrated with SQL 2005 SP2 reporting services.
In SharePoint Central Administration, I select the Reporting Services Integration page and have setup the Report Server Web Service URL and Authentication Mode. I then goto Grant database access, specify the SQL server name, get promted for a username and password that has access SQL Reportserver and get the following error "The group name could not be found"
Does anyone have any ideas?
