Hi all, I am developing ASP.NET 1.1 application using VB.NET & SQL Server, on my machine I am using SQL Server 2000, and everything is working just fine. The problem appears when I uploaded the site to the Host, they are using SQL Server 2005, is there any reason for this, I am using casting in the code, and I am sure there is something wrong with the hosting settings. Any suggestions. Best Regards Wafi Mohtaseb
I have a table with an integer field (contains test values like 2, 7,8,9,12,..) that I want to convert to an Identity field. How can this be done in t-sql?
i have problem updating the integer in the access table i have the the statement as below but it appear to have an error data mismatch,any1 can help me please Dim updatethread As String updatethread = "UPDATE Thread " + "SET replies = ' replies+ 6'" + "where threadid=@threadid"
declare @found int; set @found = 'select sid from StickyContent where StickyId='+0+' and UserId='+171 exec (@found) delete from StickyContent where sid = @found
I need to pass this statement from my UI i.e in a single query. I am getting this error.
"Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'select sid from StickyContent where StickyId=' to data type int. "
unfortunately i have a table with a column named 'AS'. I want to insert data into this table using a stored procedure but i get the error that the syntax is wrong near to the 'AS' keyword.
I tried to build a query string and execute it with the EXEC command. But that doesn't help. Same error.
i have an autonumber field (primary key) and another integer field as part of a table. What i want to do is when a record is created, the default value of the integer field should be the_autonumber+1000 for eg record with pk 82 will have an integer field that's automatically 1082. Would it be possible to do this ? Thanks in advance.
I'm having a heckuva time with creating output parameters based on a query.
Here's what I'm doing. Every day, we copy rows from our mysql table to our sql server table. We only want to copy those rows that are new, so as to not have to recopy the entire table.
So I have a DataReader Source set to Ado.net/odbc provider that connects to the mysql db. The destination is an OLE connection to the local sql server.
I create an Execute SQL Task. The connection is set to the OLE connection The type is direct input The SQL Statement is "select max(id) from copy_table"
In Parameter Mapping, I create a user variable called maxId that is an int64. That variable is now used as the Variable Name. The Direction is Output. The Parameter Name is 0.
Whatever data type I use for the mapping does not work with the variable type. If the parameter was set to ULARGE_INTEGER, here's the error [Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "SELECT MAX(stats_id) AS max_id FROM copy_table" failed with the following error: "Type name is invalid.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
If parameter is set to LONG: [Execute SQL Task] Error: An error occurred while assigning a value to variable "maxId": "The type of the value being assigned to variable "User::maxId" differs from the current variable type. Variables may not change type during execution. Variable types are strict, except for variables of type Object. ".
I found that if variable and parameter were dates to use datetime for the variable and DBTIMESTAMP for the parameter.
There are an awful lot of combinations between all the possible variable types, and the possible parameter types. Does anyone know the secret combination for your typical integer?
I am attempting to convert an integer value to a string using the Derived Column transformation with the following expression on the field: (DT_STR,10,1252)prod_id
prod_id is an integer. I was able to do this before however, in the past couple of days, this has failed with the following error: "An error occurred while attempting to perform a type cast."
To my knowledge, I have not changed anything about this particular data flow within the past couple of days. I have verified that the value is coming in as an integer.
If the data type of field is "varchar",we can use "like" to query if it hassome substring.Such as "where custom.valuevariant like '%Verizon%' ", it will query out allrecords that contains string "Verizon".But how to do when data type of field custom.valuevariant is "image"?Thanks

I have try a simple select wich give me this result How i can do this with update ? probably i have to convert fisrt to caracters
select kunr,nov_kunr= '30'+ltrim(str(kunr)) from event where kunr is not null
How do i get the result 'puzzle' from the SQL and assign it to Integer and use it to compare with Request.Form ? Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim connString As String = _ ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("Local_LAConnectionString1").ConnectionString
Dim strsql As String = _ "Select CustomerID,CustomerNo,dbo.LA_DEC(Passkey) as passcode,dbo.LA_DEC(PuzzleKey) As puzzle, PuzzleFlag, NickName from Customers Where CustomerNo = '" & myAccount & "'" Using myConnection As New SqlConnection(connString) Dim myCommand As New SqlCommand(strsql, myConnection)
myConnection.Open() Dim PuzzleDataSet As New DataSet Dim PuzzleAdapter As New SqlDataAdapter(myCommand) // <---- Coding here
I have an integer field that ranges from 3 to 6 numbers and I need to left pad leading zeros so the field is always a char(7). What is the syntax to do this? Thanks in advance.
We have account numbers that are string values, looking like: "01.02.02.00.0040.000.000".
We need to parse individual segments and pull out a range of values treating the segment like an integer. For example we would like all accounts that have the fifth segment ranging in values from .0040. through .0060. inclusive.
We've been trying to do something with the like clause: LIKE '__.__.__.__.[0-0][0-0][4-6][0-0]'.
We want 40 through 60 but we're getting 40, 50, and 60. If we change the last bracket to [0-9] we get 40 through 69.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to either fix our like clause or another approach?
I am dealing with what I believe is Oracle that is the source of a SQL View.
I am seeing a data type of Integer in the View, but I am not able to see what makes up that View. When I query the View, I can see that an Integer data type column is storing a blank space. I use ISNUMERIC(ColumnName) = 0 and there are a lot of rows that show as a zero length blank space, or text, or something. I just know that it is not an Integer.
I have attempted to CAST and Convert this value, but it will not. I have changed the data type on the table that is being inserted in too, and it still fails with a Conversion error. I have tried REPLACE(), but still the same conversion error.
here how to renumbering stickyId values when deleted particular stickyId from UI. Here stickyId field is Integer type only. not primarykey/identity field.
Currently I have the following stored procedure which simply adds a new row in my SQL Express 2005. What I want is that -1). before inserting the record find out the new ID (primary key) value. (ID is automatically a sequential integer generated by SQL Server)2). and set COMPANY_ID = (new) ID Any thoughts? Thanks ALTER PROCEDURE usp_tbl_Company_Insert @Company_ID int, @Name varchar(200), AS<FIND THE NEW ID of the new row in the database> @Company_ID = (new ID) INSERT INTO tbl_Company (Company_ID, Name,)VALUES (@Company_ID, @Name)
I need to convert a a string column to integer. Before converting, I need to check if it has blank values then convert it to NULL. Someone told me that its easier to convert it to NULL before converting to integer.
I am trying to drag data from Informix to Sql Server. When I kick off the package using an OLE DB Source and a SQL Server Destination, I get DT_DBDATE to DT_DBTIMESTAMP errors on two fields from Informix which are date data ....no timestamp part
I tried a couple of things:
Created a view of the Informix table where I cast the date fields as datetime year to fraction(5), which failed.
Altered the view to convert the date fields to char(10) with the hopes that SQL Server would implicitly cast them as datetime but it failed.
this is in form VB Private Sub orderidtxbx_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles orderidtxbx.Click sqlconnection = New SqlConnection("Data Source= xxxx;Initial Catalog = xxxx; user ID = sa; Password = xxxxx;") sqlcommand = New SqlCommand("select Customer.LastName, Customer.FirstName from customer where ticket.ticketid ='" & orderidtxbx.Text & "'", sqlconnection)
error msg The multi-part identifier "ticket.ticketid" could not be bound
query in sql 2005,I need to make store procedure.
SELECT Itinerary.FlightID, Itinerary.Class, Itinerary.Quantity, Ticket.Date, Flight.FlightNo, Flight.AirLine, Flight.DepartureDate, Flight.ArrivalDate, Flight.DepartureTime, Flight.ArrivalTime, Flight.Price, Departure.DepartureLocation, Arrival.ArrivalLocation,GST=convert(int,Itinerary. Quantity*0.06*Flight.Price),PST=convert(int,Itiner ary.Quantity*0.07*Flight.Price),TotalPrice=convert (int,(Itinerary.Quantity*0.06*Flight.Price)+(Itine rary.Quantity*0.07*Flight.Price)+Flight.Price) FROM Flight INNER JOIN Itinerary ON Flight.FlightID = Itinerary.FlightID INNER JOIN Ticket ON Itinerary.TicketID = Ticket.TicketID INNER JOIN Departure ON Flight.DepartureLocationID = Departure.DepartureID INNER JOIN Arrival ON Flight.ArrivalLocationID = Arrival.ArrivalID WHERE (Itinerary.ticketid = '@Itinerary.ticketid')
if i change WHERE (Itinerary.ticketid = 1) it will read the data in the table.
I need to refer that itinerary.ticketid into textbox in form that's why i make like this WHERE (Itinerary.ticketid = '@Itinerary.ticketid') but i don't know what is worng with this.
This error Msg 245, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Conversion failed when converting the varchar value '@Itinerary.ticketid' to data type int(but my ticketid value already integer not varchar).
How do we convert both of them into a single SQL DateTime field such as "2015-07-16 01:23:45.000" so that it can be used in a join restricting to a date time in a different SQL File that properly has the DateTime in it?
This works well for converting the transDate Part in the select statement:
dbo.IntegerToDate(at.transDate) as transDate
* That returns: "2015-07-16 00:00:00.000"
* The resulting data must work directly in a Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Query using either using the "on" statement or part of the "where" clause. In other words, NOT as a stored procedure!
Also must be able to be used as a date difference calculation when comparing the 2 files Within say + or - 5 seconds.

Hi guys I need immediate help with a query that I am trying to write. I want to sum the values in a query but the field has a type of varchar and it has decimal numbers too. So if I do the query something like that, that converts the field to int, I get the error message. I tried converting it into real or float but I get error message on that too. I need help with adding the calculatedValues and getting there sum. I would appreciate any help with that.
Thanks -Sarah Select SUM(Convert(int, calculatedValue)) from monitor.dbo.monHistory where LocalTimeWithoutDst > '8/26/06' and LocalTimeWithoutDst < '8/28/06'
This is the error message I recieve: Conversion failed when converting the varchar value '274.2' to data type int.
Hi, I want to update a field in my table whose value is a 0, to a value 1. This field is of type bit and here is the SP that I wrote to achieve this. Somhow, its giving some error when I tried executing it in the Query Analyzer. What am I doing wrong here??
