Hi,
How I can convert text '07012003' into datetime ?.
If I am using below format and getting the error 'the conversion of char data type to smalldatetime data type resulted in an out-of-range smalldatetime value'
So as the subject says, I have a few fields that are nvarchar but hold date information. Most of these fields I have been able to move to datetime easiliy enough, simply by going into edit mode for the table and converting the fields to datetime. But 1 field is giving me problems I keep getting this error. quote:- Unable to modify table. Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime. The statement has been terminated.
I really dont know why I'm getting this error, but I"m assuming it may have to be something like one of the records may not be in date format. But I don't know if this is the case and I don't know how to locate where my problem is coming from. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
I am inserting date and time data into a SQL Server 2012 Express table from an application. The application is providing the date and time as a string data type. Is there a TSQL way to convert the date and time string to an SQL datetime date type? I want to do the conversion, because SQL displays an error due to the
My date and time string from the application looks like : 3/11/2014 12:57:57 PM
Hi all, Please help. I have created a new SQL dB and imported a table from Access to SQL. my date columns in Access have been imported as nvarchar(50). all dates are in the format dd/mm/yyyy.And there is no bad data
My problem is that in the table design of my new SQL Table, if I change the datatype from nvarchar(50) to datetime I get the error "Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime"
I know this is telling me that there is a problem with the format of some of the dates but all my dates are defo dd/mm/yyyy ,none of the data has format mm/dd/yyyy ie a 13th month.I know this because I cut the data down to just 2 pieces of data. can someone help me get the format into datetime please Ray..
I have a data type float with a value of 10000487930 that I'm trying to insert into a data type nvarchar and am getting the result of '1.00005e+010'. I've tried cast(field as nvarchar) however this is not working. What might fix this? I cannot change the insert table data type.
The transaction_date is datetime and date1 is nvarchar. When I run the script: Insert into payment(transaction_date) Select convert (datetime, date1) from dep01
I get the following message:
Server: Msg 8115, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime. The statement has been terminated.
i have some fields in SQL Server table as nvarchar(50) and the user actually enters date (example : 02/05/07) now they want those fields to be converted to datetime or small datetime field.
Hi,I have a text file that contains a date column. The text file will beimported to database in SQL 2000 server. After to be imported, I wantto convert the date column to date type. For ex. the text file look likeName dateSmith 20003112Jennifer 19991506It would be converted date column to ydm database in SQL 2000 server. In the table it should look like thisName DateSmith 2000.31.12Jennifer 1999.15.06Thanks in advance- Loi -
I need to sort by an ntext field, but it won't let me do it.
However, if I cast the field as nvarchar(100), I can use ORDER BY on that.
Is there any reason that this is a bad idea? In my testing, ordering by a converted ntext field was actually *faster* than ordering by an nvarchar (same data in the fields).
problem is that the data I am trying to insert is of the type nvarchar. eg: 06.50 I need it to be converted to type decimal (or float) before it is inserted in the new table.
Is there a way to do this within the SELECT TOP expression?
Account Number Balance Percent 45678935 4596.00 0.3500 78965215 56.43 1.0000
This seems like it should be ridiculously easy, but I keep running into road blocks. Like I said, this is just a sample from my table. My real table has 90 columns in it and about half of them need to be changed to either a dollar representation or a percent.
problem is that the data I am trying to insert is of the type nvarchar. eg: '06.50' I need it to be converted to type decimal (or float) before it is inserted in the new table.
Is there a way to do this within the SELECT TOP expression?
I have imported a text file with various data into sql table. all these values have been imported as nvarchar. I need to convert these into Integer. the format of the values is 10length i.e. 0000000.00. example of data: 0001028.99 - needs to be shown as 1028.99 222.00 - needs to be shown as 222.00 0000190.89 - needs to be shown as 190.89 2708.99 - needs to be shown as 2708.99 00000-50.99 - needs to be shown as -50.99 -109.79 - needs to be shown as -109.70
as you can see some of the values have leading zeros and some don't. i have tried converting from nvarchar to int and i get the error cannot convert nvarchar to int, i believe it may be because the data contains negative values as well as positive values.
Is there a split function or position function which i can use to extract the data? or any other methods which i can use would be really helpful.
Hi Group,I am new with SQL Server..I am working with SQL Server 2000.I am storing the date in a nvarchar column of atable.... I have a column that is a currently set as nvarchar(50) and is called DateEmployed. There are over a hundred rows that contain dates which is in nvarchar format.
This column now needs to be changed to a DateTime datatype. (Don't ask me it was not set to a dateTime when this was first designed - I wasn't here)
However, I have to change this column to a DateTime without destroying the data.
Is there any easy way to write some script or use studio management to change this.
Currently the data is displayed like this in this column dd/MM/yyyy i.e. 25/8/2007.
The method I am using to try and change this is by going to studio management clicking modify on the column and changing the datatype from a nvarchar(50) to a DateTime.
I get this following error message: - Unable to modify table. Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime. The statement has been terminated.
HI All, 1)I have a question. I have a column in nvarchar format which is called close_date and is in the following format: 29.02.2008 ( example). I need to convert it to date format.I also add that data conversion not working as column apper blank on table. Do you have any idea?
2)Also the second problem is how to unzip the file stored on the shared drive in the package before uploading.
I'm working with a horrible database! The field I'm having issues with is a negative number stored as a nvarchar, but it's not stored in a consistent format. I need to convert the field to a decimal (9,2) but I can't because of the negative sign.
I need to always have a formatting of 999,999,999.00 in a column called PropertyMap9.
PropertyMap9 is always a nvarchar(max)
How do I SET a value using a CONVERT or CAST to accomplish this ?
Why does this give me a syntax error ? The PropertyMap7 set actually works and performs the calculation and sets the new value for that row, however the next line gives an error. I need all 3 columns PropertyMap9, 8, and 7 to always have the above formatting, while still maintaining the nvarchar(max) datatype in the column. HELP!
update PropertyMapValues
set PropertyMap7 = CONVERT(NVARCHAR(MAX),CAST(PropertyMap8 AS money) - (CAST(PropertyMap9 AS money)),1)
set PropertyMap9 = CONVERT(NVARCHAR(MAX),CAST(PropertyMap9 AS money))
END
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Procedure UpdatePropertyMap7, Line 59
HI, I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TRANSFORM AN OLD TABLE TO A NEW FORMAT AND CHANGE SOME OF THE DATATYPE FORMATS USED IN THE OLD ONE. OUT OF WHICH ONE IS A COLUMN CALLED AS FORM_RECEIVE_DATE WHICH HAS NVARCHAR(41) AS DATATYPE IN THE OLD TABLE CREATED BY A PREVIOUS DBA (DON'T KNOW wHY?)
wHILE CONVERTING IT INTO DATATYPE DATETIME , I AM GETTING THIS ERROR :- "Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime." i DON'T KNOW WHY
hERE ARE FEW EXAMPLES OF THE DATA CONTAINED IN THE PREVIOUS TABLE :-
I have a column name DateofRecord and it is nvarchar type..all the values in this column are like this
"04/24/2013' "05/01/2014"...etc...
My requirement is to convert this column into Datetime ?
I tried so many ways using cast and convert functions like cast(dateofrecord, datetime) or like convert(datetime, replace(DateofRecord,'"','''')) ..it didnt worked..
Hi I have an insert stored procedure with a parameter @eventDate date type date time. I have written a web form that takes the textbox.text value and assigns to the @eventDate parameter using a querystring. Howevr when I run the application I get a SQL Exception error converting data type nvarchar to datetime. I have tried dssqlInsertEvent.InsertParameters.add("EventDate", convert.todatetime(txtEventDate.text)); wbut received another error. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I'm pretty desperat after trying solving the above problem in several days. I hope somone here can help me :-)
I have this stored procedure. When I try to Execute the storedprocedure where I have a date as parameter I get the above error.
I checked (many times), that the input parameter is a datetime format (30-05-2008) and also I checked the tabel and it is datetime format. I checked the table to see if it was english datetime format - but all the datetimes that are listet are listed in danish datetime format DD-MM-YYYY.
In the stored procedure I try this:
fProjectSkuTimeStamp >= @ReducedTime
I can't figure out where it gets that nvarchar from?
hi, How do i convert a varchar field into the datetime data type? the reason i need this lies in the requirement that in the earlier data base the column that is hlding the date value is having the data type as varchar. and in the new design the column data type is datetime. i am using sql scripts for the data migration from the older design to the newer and got stuck with this datetime convertion issue. do let me know the best possible solution.
following are the sample data that is theer in the older table for the date.
12/12/2003 1/13/2007 01132004 1-1-2004 1.2.2001
there is no uniformity of the data that is stored currently.
