Can u please tell me how to copy data from table A(database A) to table B(databaseB) which table A contain 10 fields but table B consist of 11 fields. I have to insert current date and time into another field in Table B (which has extra field compare to tableA) automatically every hour or so.

How is the stored procedure, to copy from a table to others tables? I have a stored procedure which is doing that, but for 1 registration : " insert into....". So i want for each registration in the source table to execute this procedure and put the data in my format table.

I know how to execute one line but I am not sure how to run the script so that it not only summarizes the data below but also creates and drops the table.

Here is the scenario,
I have 2 stored procedures, SP1 and SP2
SP1 has the following code:

SP2 has the following code:
SELECT *
FROM SP1 (which won't work because SP1 is a stored procedure. A view, a table valued function, or a temporary table must be used for this)
Views - can't use a view because they don't allow dynamic sql and the db_name() in the OPENROWSET function must be used.
Temp Tables - can't use these because it would cause a large hit on system performance due to the frequency SP2 and others like it will be used.
Functions - My last resort is to use a table valued function as shown:

I am having 2 tables. One is main table and another is history table. Whenever I update the main table, I need to insert the all the main table data to History table, before updating the main table.
Overall it is like storing the history of the table updation.
How do i write a stored procedure for this?

how to copy a content of a table from one remote server to another,. server A does not see server B (B doesn't see A) - I cannot even ping to one from another.I do have SQL Studio installed on server C, which IT team configured to allow access to both A and B.So what I did so far is to periodically:
1. connect from the studio on server C to server A
2. run the following script on server A: SELECT * FROM A.myTable FOR XML PATH('ROOT')
3. copy the result
4. connect from the studio on server C to server B
5. to write something like

SET @xmlData = pasting here my result from item 3 above
6. INSERT INTO

FROM @xmlData.nodes('/myElemnet/ROOT')

so it works. now there is a requirement to schedule this update to run periodically and I need to implement it..

I have two SQL Server tables on the same server and in the same database. I'll call them table A and table B. They have identical schemas. I need to insert all rows in table A into table B. (Don't laugh - this is just for testing and long run the tables will reside on different servers.)

I've built a simple VS2005 ASP.Net web app that uses Crystal Reports for generating assorted reports. More specifically, when a report is called it executes the correct SQL Server Stored Procedure and returns a Data Table populated with with appropriate data. In my testing, everything seemed to be working fine.But I just did a test where I pressed the "Submit" button on two different client browsers at almost the same time. Without fail, one browser returns the report as it should but the other one returns an empty report; all of the Crystal Reports template info is there but the report is just empty of data. Considering that each browser is running in its own session, I'm confused about why this is happening.One thing: I did login as the same user in both cases. I have a table which is referenced in multiple stored procedures .Among them only one procedure loads data (INSERT statement) to the table. In all other procedures table is referenced in FROM clause.
My question is how do i find the stored procedure that is actually loading data into that table.

I've got a weird one here. I'm running a DTS package on SQL Server2005. It copies a bunch of stored procedures. I renamed them on theoriginating server and ran the DTS again.The came over with the old name and code!I deleted the DTS and built it from scratch, and the same thinghappened.I ran SELECT * FROM sys.objects where type = 'P' on the source serverand the names were correctI'm explicitly checking which sp to copy rather than using Copy all. I have two database SOP and CRM. Both supports windows authentication and SOP suports sql authentication too. Now i have to write a SP in SOP database with identity impersonation (with superadmin authentication) which will do some work with this impersonated id on SOP database but needs to fetch some values from CRM with the current user account - not impersonated account.Lets clear... I want to show the orders generated by all users and in the display grid there is a column like "IsMyCustomer?" which will show the order is to a customer which i have access. In CRM (MS) if i select from FilteredCustomer view i will get the customersid of those under me. And if i left outer join with FilteredOrder view in SOP (with Super Admin windows credentials) which returns orders by current user i will get the desired result.Now the problem is i can't sent two connection credentials to a SP. So what i want is to connect SOP with user's windows credentials (not with impersonation) and from the SP we will Select data with Admin's account. But i don't know is there any way to connect to a linked server with a different credentials. Like when i am selecting from CRM server it will use different credentials.Remember i am using SQL server 2000 and everything should be done through a single SP.I know i can do this easily with two different select from Data access layer. But i am looking for some performance effectinve way. My PM wants this idea to be implemented. I have no chice guys....

I'm writing VB 6.0 codes to retrieve data from SQL Server 7.0. if the sql code is embedded in VB, everything works fine. But when I tried to use stored procedure, one error called "invalid object name 'author'" occurs. author is a table in my database and obviously is in the database. what's wrong?

I need to export data, from within a MSSql stored procedure to excel. Right now we use DTS, but its cumbersome and the users always screw it up.
I would usually just send the tabel to a .csv fiel and pick it up in excel, but I have a field that has preceding zeros and excel truncates them and uses a general fromat.

I have a stored procedure which loops thru about 180 tables and inserts the data into one table used for reporting purposes. One field is a ntext field. If I execute the stored procedure from query analyzer the entire contents of the ntext field is available. When I run as scheduled task (every 1/2 hour) from sql server agent, the data in the ntext field is truncated.
