How do I count the number of positive dollar values in a query? I have various negative and positive dollar values and want to count how many positive I have then I will know how many are negative. I cannot put >0 or >0.00 in the where because it still returns everything cuz the programmer set the datatype to be money

How to count the number of values that exist in a row based on the values from an array of numbers. Basically the the array of numbers I want to look for are in row 1 of table [test 1] and I want to search for them and count the "out of" in table [test 2]. Excuse me for not using the easiest way to convey my question below. I guess in short I have 10 numbers and like to find how many of those numbers exist in each row. short example:
Table Name: test1
Columns: m1 (int), m2 (int), m3 (int) >>> etc
Array/Row1: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
------
Table Name: test2
Columns: n1 (int), n2 (int), n3 (int), n4 (int), n5 (int)
Row 1: 3, 8, 18, 77, 12
Row 2: 1, 4, 5, 7,18, 21
Row 3: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
Answer: 2 out of 5

Hi,
I have a table employee with 4 columns,
empno fname lname deptno
1 abc def 10
2 fff hhh 20
3 abc def NULL
4 abc def NULL
5 abc def 50
suppose i want to know the total number of null values in a particular column say deptno how shuld i write a query?
select count(deptno) from employee
where deptno IS NULL..
When i query this i get the result as 0..

I was just wondering if there is a way of converting a number from negative to positive within Reporting Services, ie remove the "-" sign from the front of the number? One of the columns within my report contains a calculation which results in an integer, but it is always a negative number, even though it should really be positive (it would take too long to describe the exact reason for this, but it's to do with the underlying database, which I don't have access to anyway). When I right-click on the relevant cell within the table in Layout view in the Report Designer and go to Expression, there is a list of Conversion functions under the "Common Functions" heading but I can't find anything there which would convert a number from negative to positive. Does anyone know how this can be achieved?

I have a table of orders. I was asked to count the orders that fall into specific dollar buckets. Normally I would use a CASE statement for this, but in this case, there are over 100 different buckets!
For example, I need to count the orders in $5 increments up to $400. The CASE statement would look like this:

WHEN sum(revenue) BETWEEN 0.01 AND 5.00 THEN [0.01 to 5.00]
WHEN sum(revenue) BETWEEN 5.01 AND 10.00 THEN [5.01 to 10.00]

Is there an easier way to do this, maybe with a loop?

Sorry if this question has been answered before--i tried a search but nothing came close to what i needed.
I have a report I am creating where I need to group on whether a number is positive or negative. The number will never be zero. This number is a decimal (currency), if that makes a difference.
I have tried creating a formula field with the following expression:

IIf(Fields!Num.Value > 0, 1, 0)
I tried creating a group using this field (essentially, positive = 1 and negative = 0), but it gave me no results at all.

I have a 2012 report builder chart that has two series (one area chart and one bar chart) combined into one chart. The problem I'm having is the bar chart has much smaller numbers than the area chart and the scaling is messed up.
Is there any way to put the bar chart on the right axis and keep the area chart on the left axis? My goal is to increase the size of the bar chart in relation to the area chart.
Also, is there any way to make the bar chart color red if the number is negative and green if it is positive?

I have a table that displays a bunch of data based on their percentage changes.
There is a parameter (let's say 5%) that the user can set to display only the data which either increased more than 5% or decreased more than 5%.
I want to have a space between the positive changes and the negative changes. ie, to create a blank row between the +'s and the -'s. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

I have a requirement to use DateDiff(Months,DateTime1,DateTime2) and this must return positive integer values.
Currently negative numbers are being returned because DateTime1 < DateTime2  or DateTime1 > DateTime2 .
The DateTime1 and  DateTime2  values are dynamic and either of them can be bigger than the other.
Any query solution so that always positive value is returned.

For example in a table with this fields "field1, L1,L3,L100" field2 the count is 3
it would be better to match a number into the like but i thinks it cannot be done in the like so i've to add another condition to ensure all the text after L is a number.
is this the best way to do it?

Why does M$ Query Analyzer display all numbers as positive, no matterwhether they are truly positive or negative ?I am having to cast each column to varchar to find out if there areany negative numbers being hidden from me :(I tried checking Tools/Options/Connections/Use Regional Settings bothon and off, stopping and restarting M$ Query Analyer in betwixt, butno improvement.Am I missing some other option somewhere ?

We have SharePoint list which has, say, two columns. Column A and Column B.
Column A can have three values - red, blue & green.
Column B can have four values - pen, marker, pencil & highlighter.
A typical view of list can be:
Column A - Column B
red  - pen

blue - pencil
green - pen

We are looking to create a report from SharePoint List using SSRS which has following view:

In the report I am working on, I have a "textbox39" in a table which has groups. I want to have another "textbox29" outside the table to count the number of "textbox39"s that are actually displayed and also the number of "textbox1"s that have a certain value (e.g. "1") in the final report. I tried to use "Sum(ReportItems!textbox39.Value)" but the compiler complains

I need to generate the Item Number from 1 to "qty of items" when I make the JOIN on WorkOrderNumber.

My understanding from a previous thread was that ExecuteNonQuery() could be used to display the number of rows returned.
Does this also work when calling stored procedures and passing parameters?
I have code (shown) that perfectly calls and returns Distinct models downloaded by Country. Yet the rowCount variable displays a -1.

hello,
i have a stored procedure SELECT CommentID, UserName, CommentingDate
FROM Comm
WHERE PictureID = @PictureID
ORDER BY CommentingDate DESC
witch shows me the users who commented a Picture with PictureID = x
I need to add two rows at that stored procedure, one to show the number of total comments at that picutre (like counting the number of rows returned) and the second to show count the DISTINCT users who commented that picture
I tryied with COUNT but i have to use GROUP BY and i don't think this is good...
I hope you understand... please help me,
