I wish to access the database through asp.
I attempt to create connection with below code

however I am getting the below error.
Error Type: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005) Login failed for user 'IUSR_MASTECH'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. /younger now/books.asp, line 199
I have a Microsoft Access application which uses linked SQL Server tables. I would like to create an ODBC DSN which would be available to all users so that I don't have to create a DSN on each machine. Can this be done? The Access application resides on a shared drive (Windows). Thanks for your help.
I opened SSMSexpress and attached to my sql 2005 database and automatically created the scripts for creating all the object in a SQL 2000 DB. The objects seem to be created but I did get script messages. Are these messages harmless?thanksMilton Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Procedure Requestview, Line 3 Invalid object name 'dbo.requests'. Msg 15135, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_validatepropertyinputs, Line 147 Object is invalid. Extended properties are not permitted on 'dbo.Requestview', or the object does not exist. I have a SQL Server 7.0 backend server but I am using SQL Server 2000 EM to create DTS packages. Can the DTS packages be opened in SQL Server 7.0? We are contemplating the install of SQL 2000 but we are worried that any new DTS packages created won't work when opened on a SQL Server 7.0 server or that the SQL 2000 DTS functionality is just not compatibile with SQL Server 7.0 and will cause problems.
Hopefully there's an easy answer for this. I'm totally new to SQL server and I'm trying to upsize an Access database. Whether I use the upsizing wizard or try to create a data source through the ODBC Data Source Administrator, I get a connection failed error. It tells me the server does not exist or my login is incorrect. I'm using NT authentication to connect to the server on my local drive. I just installed the whole 2005 express edition and the only thing that came up during the install was that I didn't have IIS installed. I didn't see how that would be relevant, so I went ahead with the install.
Shouldn't this work with the default setup? I've searched around trying different "solutions" although I doubt they were specifically related to this very basic problem. I tried giving my login every right I could find through in the database engine properties in the server management studio, which connects fine itself with just my network login name and no password. What am I missing?
Hi,My webhost (1and1) is running SQL Server 2000 and their web tool supports the import of .bak files. However, when I try to import my .bak files created in SQL Server Management Studio Express I get the following error:"The backed-up database has on-disk structure version 611. The server supports version 539 and cannot restore or upgrade this database. RESTORE FILELIST is terminating abnormally."I have Googled this error and learnt that 2005 .bak files are not compatible with 2000 .bak files. I'm just wondering if there are any work arounds to this or alternative tools that I can create 2000 compatible .bak files from from 2000/2005 .mdf files.Thanks in advance.

I am getting the following error message:

When I create a new EMPTY website and I rightclick on my website in the solution explorer and choose add item, I chooe SQL Database, I give it a name 'database.mdf' and click add. I get the following message: you are attempting to add a database to an asp.net application. for a database to be gfenerally consumable in your site, it should be placed inside the 'app_data' folder. would you like to place the database inside the 'app_data' folder? I click YES (I know this message is normal) then I get the following message: Connection to SQL server files (*.mdf) require SQL express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=49251 I can add anything else but this damn mdf file. thanks for all your help in advance.
I currently work for a company that has had a "family business" mentality for many years. The only trouble is, it has grown into a fairly large company over the years and that mentality just doesn't cut it anymore (We have around 200 employees in 2 offices, and 25-50 remote users).
I have recently taken over the role of System Administrator, and I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get everything under wraps. There are a LOT of un-documented things happening with our database/web server, and in order to keep things safe & secure, I need to try & flesh out what those mystery settings would be. I feel that NOW is the time to get some solid documentation down, to protect my ass before some critical failure happens.
I'm wading into unknown waters here, and I'm hoping that somebody who's "been there" might have some tips to make my life a little easier.
I have an IBM Bladecenter, and a spare blade with which I can use to re-produce as close to a mirror copy of our system as possible. I have installed windows 2003 /w SQL2000 and restored a full backup of our databases and imported all database user accounts, and logins. What about Maintenance Jobs? Error Logs? Patches/Hotfixes? Service accounts? Membership roles? System databases? ODBC Sources? Services? Startup Scripts? I'm sure the list could go on & on... What are some of the crucial details I should look into?
Has anybody been in this boat before having little knowledge of what was built before you arrived, and have any insight on how to get through this without too much headache?
we have some reference tables in in a specific database. that other applications need to have access to them. Is it possible to create a view in the application's database to retrive data from ref database while users just have access to the application Database not the view's underlying tables?

I'm trying to connect to an SQL server 2000 database table from my PDA using VB.NET through a bluetooth connection. I keep getting an error telling me that I cannot connect. I have tried everything that I can think of to fix it.
Do I need a copy of SQL Server CE on the PDA, even though I'm only viewing data from my PC's database on my PDA?
Can I connect from a SQL Server 2005 database to a SQL Server 2000 database, without establishing a linked server connection.
I need to fire a SELECT query on a SQL Server 2000 database, but don't want to add it as a linked server. Is there any way I can do this or its not possible??
I am trying to make a simple connection to my sql server, but am getting an error. I am not sure why it says SQL Server 2005 in the error as we use 2000. I have found others to have the problem on the web, but have found no answers. One person said the sql connection worked when he downgraded to 1.1; however, I'd like to avoid that. Here is my code:
<%@Import Namespace="System.Data.SqlClient" %> <script runat="server"> Sub Page_Load() Dim conNorthwind As SqlConnection
conNorthwind = New SqlConnection("Server=1CDRSRV4; uid=username; pwd=password; database=Northwind") conNorthwind.Open() End Sub </script> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head runat="server"> <title>Untitled Page</title> </head> <body> Connection Opened! </body> </html>
here is my error:

i'm using sql server 2005 express edition as the database server for my web application. Right now, i want to deploy it and the problem is, my hosting is using sql server 2000. So, is it possible to deploy my database that has been created in sql server 2005 in the sql server 2000? I'm afraid that the connection string for sql server 2000 is different from sql server 2005. In addition, i'm using forms authentication in my web application. So, some data regarding to the forms authentication like dbo.asp_net.membership table, dbo.asp_net.roles table is in my database. Is it the table that has been created like dbo.asp_net.membership can be used in sql server 2000 since it is created by asp.net forms authentication function?
Hi all, I am trying to trouble shoot this database VS 2003 web application I have. I cannot connect to the database on the server through the VS program. However, I can connect to the server database via Enterprise Manager on my machine. Also, I am able to connect my VS 2003 program to a replicated database on my local machine, it connects without a problem. So, I am assuming there is a setting that is not right on the server machine. I am running SQL Server 2000. But, I am getting this error below which seems to apply more to Server 2003. Any ideas? I have asp code that uses C# to create a SQL connection and a command. Then I create a data set and fill the data set using my comand. Finally I bind my data set to a data grid named myDataGrid. I am not sure where myDataGrid comes from since it is never defined. Where does myDataGrid come from? Also, I believe that I do not need to call page_Load since auto wire is set to true by default so it is my understanding that this method page_Load will be called by default.void page_load(object sender, EventArgs e) { SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection("server='(local)'; trusted_connection=true; database='mattsDEMO'"); SqlDataAdapter myCommand = new SqlDataAdapter("select * from people", myConnection); DataSet ds = new DataSet(); myCommand.Fill(ds, "people"); MyDataGrid.DataSource=ds.Tables["people"].DefaultView; MyDataGrid.DataBind(); }
When I place a data grid controll on my page named myDataGrid, I do not see a data grid and there is no data either. The code in the HTML looks like this:
<body> <form runat="server"> <p> <asp:DataGrid id="myDataGrid" runat="server" BorderColor="Maroon"></asp:DataGrid> </p> </form></body>I tried using debug that comes with the .Net framework (since I am using Web Matrix) but I get an error saying no symbols were found for this document when setting break points. What are symbols and why do I need them?So, I basically have four (4) important questions that I need help answering: 1) Why do I not have any data in my data grid? 2) Where did myDataGrid come from? 3) Is the page_Load method called by default if auto wire is set to true or not declared? 4) Why do I need symbols for debug?Below is all my code in one complete view:<%@ Page Language="C#" %><%@ Register TagPrefix="wmx" Namespace="Microsoft.Matrix.Framework.Web.UI" Assembly="Microsoft.Matrix.Framework, Version=0.6.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=6f763c9966660626" %><%@ import Namespace="System.Data" %><%@ import Namespace="System.Data.SqlClient" %><script runat="server"> // Insert page code here // </script><html><head> <script language="C#">void page_load(object sender, EventArgs e){SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection("server='(local)'; trusted_connection=true; database='mattsDEMO'");SqlDataAdapter myCommand = new SqlDataAdapter("select * from people", myConnection); DataSet ds = new DataSet();myCommand.Fill(ds, "people"); MyDataGrid.DataSource=ds.Tables["people"].DefaultView;MyDataGrid.DataBind();} </script></head><body> <form runat="server"> <p> </p> <p> <asp:Label id="Label1" runat="server">This is a test!</asp:Label> </p> <p> <asp:DataGrid id="myDataGrid" runat="server" BorderColor="Maroon"></asp:DataGrid> </p> </form></body></html>Thanks,Ryan
I am using asp.net 2.0, and am attempting to connect to a SQL Server 2000 database. When I run the web page either in the debugger, or by viewing it in the browser, I get the following error message:
Login failed for user 'sa'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
I think that maybe my values for uid, and pwd are not correct? If this is the problem, then I don’t know what their values should be? Should uid always be equal to sa ??(If so why?)
Also I don’t know what the password should be. I don’t know what the name of the password as it was assigned over two years ago when I installed sql server 2000. I might need some instructions on how to find this value in SQL server.
Someone please help me if you can. Here is a snippet of the code I am using:
String sqlStmt = "INSERT INTO LogIn (UserName,PassWord) VALUES ('JohnyRocket','FastestRocket99')";
SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection("server=localhost;uid=sa;pwd=;database=MyWebSite;"); SqlCommand sqlCmd = new SqlCommand(sqlStmt, sqlConn); sqlConn.Open();

Hello Everyone The my PC's address is 10.0.0.X, and I want to connect with a Sql Server 2000 default Instance That have the address 192.168.1.X
I have modified the TCP port of Sql Server 2000 in 1453, instead 1433.
In my PC I have modified cliconfig and in Sql Native Client configuration, setting the client TCP port to 1453. Using the old Enterprise manager is possible to connect to Sql Server; instead using Sql Server Management studio doesn't work !
An application vendor is telling me that their product will not run with SQL Server 2000 64-bit. Here is the layout: * Dedicated 64-bit machine running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, 64-bit. * Separate application server running Windows Server 2003 - SBS. Application server uses DCOM and OLEDB to obtain data from SQL Server.
My question: Is there any way for the application server to know if the data supplier is running 32-bit or 64-bit? If so, then perhaps the application vendor is right. If not, then they are just trying to put me off and avoid fixing a problem. In this case, I need an authoritative statement as ammunition to take back to their support department. .... Warren
