Date Parmeter Converts Into Drop Down
Jan 10, 2007
I am working in SSRS 2005. I have three parameters on the reports
Parmeter 1 is Date filter which is drop down and values are MTD,QTD,YTD...
2nd and 3rd parameters are fromdate and todate which are datetime parameters.
When user select let's say MTD from parameter1 then i have Stored procedure which populate the fromdate paramter with 1st date of the month and, todate populate the todays's date. The problem i am facing is the moment these date parameters get populated it converts into drop down. i want these date parameters should be still datetime so user can select the date. The value i am passing to these parameters are datetime type( Now()) .Still the date parameters controls are showing as dropdown. I don't know how to handle it. Please help me if you have faced this kind of problem.
Thanks,
Ranjay

I've been trying to find an answer to the mystery of how date conversions differ between SQL server and Excel. In Excel the number 37711 is displayed as the date '3/31/2003'. The same number in SQL server yields '2003-04-02' (I used the following: select cast(37711 as datetime) ).
Any idea what is going on here and how I might resolve this problem?

We are using lookup transformation in SSIS 2012. The lookup transformation queries a table with two date columns. When we hover the mouse over the two columns in the 'columns' tab of the lookup transformation editor, the two columns show as DT_WSTR instead of DT_DBDATE. This causes the SSIS package to fail due to data type mismatch.A similar abandoned thread is available at: URL....

Date parameter. I created a report that allows a drop down for a date range to be selected. However, whenever I preview the report, I get an error. I know my error stems from my date fields being in this format "201301" , and the "date/ time" in SSRS being mm/dd/yyyy on the drop down calendar in SSRS.
I know the direction I want to go in, but just a little confused on where would I use the convert or cast function. Would it be in the data parameter itself, or a part of the query before the @start date and @End date?

I downloaded this 7/6/07 and am trying to debug. I have a field that is PICs9(5) and has 00 00 1D as its hex value. The component returns a dt_decimal field value of 20201-
I believe it thinks the 00 are spaces and converts them to ASCII 20. Any ideas on what is wrong here? Is there another step I am missing after the conversion? Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to make a dropdownlist with a date. Where should I define
that I do want only the date, not the hour. So far it shows something
like "14-02-2006 0:00:00" whereas I just want "14-02=2006". I tried
"CAST(CONVERT (varchar(25); Ma_Fecha; 112) AS datetime)" in the SQL
Statement but it doesnt seem to work.[CODE]Dim sSQL As String = " SELECT "sSQL = sSQL & " Ma_Date,sDate "sSQL = sSQL & " FROM vwMareaMain "Dim comm As New SqlCommand(sSQL, objConn)Dim dataAdapter As New SqlDataAdapter(comm)dataAdapter.Fill(objDS2, "vwDate")Me.cboDate.DataMember = "vwDate"Me.cboDate.DataValueField = "Ma_Date"Me.cboDate.DataSource = objDS2.Tables("vwDate").DefaultView[/CODE]

I've some huge table (over 100GB each), these table contain column of NTEXT, IMAGE. Application team needs to change these data types to VARBINARY(MAX), I've tested the modification in our lab and I noticed that the operation has been almost immediate so, I think that DB Engnine has not converted the existing data in the column but it has simply changed the definition of the column.
Or maybe NTEXT and IMAGE can be transparently converted into VARBINARY(MAX)?
Anyway, I want to be sure that the modified table is "coherent" I don't want that at a given point SQL Server tells me that some data is not readable.

Up to my knowldge if you start a transaction in side the transaction if you have DML statements

this query gives you table with out data
select * from t2

but if you rollback
T1 willn't be there in the database

Hi,
I have an sql script, which updates some values by using BIT operations..
ex:
UPDATE table1
SET myValue = myValue & ~mask | (availability - mask)...
Problem is, this returns a value, when written to binary, it's one bit too long!
ex:
0
1
1
1
1
1
(= 62)
which should be:
0
1
1
1
1
0
(=31)
How can I "drop" this last BIT?
(Keep in mind that I store these values as LONGINT's)...
Been fighting with this one all day..

Hi folks,
Wonder if I'm onto something....everything I've read says that to drop foreign key constraints, you have to drop/recreate the table.
I've been able to dynamically create the ALTER TABLE statements for all FK constraints in a database. The way I did was a little convoluted (Access 97 linked tables and pass-through queries, cut/paste from the debug window to SQL7 QA), but it does work. More importantly, it saves the hassle of dropping/recreating tables....Someone with more expertise than I in using nested cursors could probably convert it to pure T-SQL pretty easily.
Just curious...opinions? Be glad to post the code here if that's appropriate.

I am managing 120 gb SQL7 database. The 120 GB is in a RAID5 (Hardware RAID). At begining, I think I should create a user defined filegroup besides Primary filegroup, as BOL suggested.
After I read some discussions here, It appears I cannot gain any performance by adding second filegroups. Now I want to drop the filegroup I created. The Question is How?. If I do alter database, move all files from userdefined filegroup, does this mean my userdefined filegroup has gone?
Someone can help me on this!
Thanks a lot.

To restore the database, i am dropping the existing database. I am unable to drop the database as an error message is being displayed saying that "Cannot drop the database, as it is currently in use". I tried to drop the database even by changing the database names in the connection string.
But i am unable to drop the database. If any one finds the solution for this please help me. Its very urgent.

I've tried various types of InStr and even found a SUBSTRING_INDEX function, but apparently it's only for mysql.

Hello, I have hit the wall here...can't make sense of this one.
I have a script that creates a PRIMARY KEY constraint called PK_tblDRG
CODE:
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[tblDRG]
ALTER COLUMN [record_id] Uniqueidentifier NOT NULL
Go
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[tblDRG]
WITH NOCHECK ADD PK_tblDRG PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
(
[record_id]
) WITH FILLFACTOR = 90 ON [PRIMARY]
All is fine with that. I run this to verify:
EXEC sp_pkeys @table_name = 'tblDRG'
,@table_owner = 'dbo' ,@table_qualifier = 'Relational_05Q3'
which returns this:
TABLE_QUALIFIERTABLE_OWNERTABLE_NAMECOLUMN_NAMEKEY_SEQPK_NAME
Relational_05Q3dbotblDRGrecord_id1PK_tblDRG
Now I want to drop the constriant if it exists:
if exists (select * from dbo.sysobjects where id = object_id(N'[dbo].[PK__tblDRG]') and OBJECTPROPERTY(id, N'IsPrimaryKey') = 1)
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[tblDRG] DROP CONSTRAINT PK__tblDRG
AND I get this in return:
The command(s) completed successfully.
So, lets double check:
EXEC sp_pkeys @table_name = 'tblDRG'
,@table_owner = 'dbo' ,@table_qualifier = 'Relational_05Q3'
AND I STILL GET THIS:
TABLE_QUALIFIERTABLE_OWNERTABLE_NAMECOLUMN_NAMEKEY_SEQPK_NAME
Relational_05Q3dbotblDRGrecord_id1PK_tblDRG
Hmmmmm. Looks like the IF statement didn't do it's job. Ok fine. I'll just kill it myself:
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[tblDRG] DROP CONSTRAINT PK__tblDRG
AND I GET THIS?!?!?!?!
Server: Msg 3728, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
'PK__tblDRG' is not a constraint.
What am I not getting here? Is it me...I can take If I am a bone head here.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
