hi, i was wondering how to set default value in the datetime column of the database so that it will enter current date and time if one is not provided when a row is populated. is there a store procedure to do this? or built-in function? mp
i have a table as below create table temp ( Number int, DateError datetime );
insert into temp values(13,' ');
i get Number DateError ------------------ 13 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000
Now, i want "1900-01-01 00:00:00.000" and just want NULL or blank and ofcourse not 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000 for my further processing. I have a problem, i have to formath string send it as second value which is simple ' '. How can i modify my Table definition above to achieve this. Thanks in advance.
I am trying to set the default date in my datetime parameter to yesterday's date, so the user does not have to select using the datepicker calendar. I am using Visual Studio 2005.
I put the following code into the Report Parameters non-queried default values function line, but it adds the timestamp to the date.
=DateAdd(€?d€?, -(WeekDay(Now()))+1, Now())
How can I get yesterday's date to default but without the timestamp?
In SQL Server 2000 / Asp.Net I am trying to use default values for all fields; hoping to eliminate nulls.
For number and character fields, the default is pretty obvious, but is there any empty value for a date field? I think a null there might be better than putting in a bogus date, at least it can be tested for.
Are there any more developend ideas on this question?
I have a visible DateTime parameter on the Report that I would like to make optional.
When I open up the report and try to run it without specifying the date I get a validation error that parameter is required. If I set default value to null - it works, but I have to check for both '' and NULL in my query:
StartDateTime >= @StartDate OR @StartDate='' OR @StartDate IS NULL
I tried setting default parameter using expression ='' but I get an error that 'Default Value' of parameter 'StartDate' doesn't have expected time.
So the question is can I set DateTime parameters' default value to blank?
I have a report parameter StartDateTime. I set the default value to Now(). When I go to preview, the StartDateTime parameter is empty and its been locked. I am not even able to set it to different value in preview.
Can anyone help me how to set the datetime parameter to default value(Now).
Issue 2:
I have a stored procedure which takes StartDateTime parameter. Whenever the report refreshes using autorefresh interval, the startdatetime should default to Now. Right now the startdatetime defaults to whatever the value is there before i hit view report. how to do that using stored procedure.
We want to add a default date to our database tables. Looking at other database samples people use all sorts of dates to add as default date e.g. 1/1/1997 or the getdate() function. Is it good practice to set a default date and what should the default date be???? Newbie
I thought this would be easy. I have a repeater control and a sqldatasource control. I am trying to filter the select statement using DateTime.Now.ToString() and keep getting an invalid date string format. The control is on a content page in my asp.net site. On the master page this <%= DateTime.Now.ToLongDateString() %> works to display the current date. If I try and put <%= DateTime.Now.ToString() %> in the Default value of the SelectParameter it does not work. No intellisense either so I am assuming I am missing something. Here is the code... pretty basic really. <asp:Repeater ID="Repeater1" runat="server" DataSourceID="sqlDSnews"> <ItemTemplate> <h3><%# Eval("newTitle")%></h3> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlDSnews" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:XXXX%>" SelectCommand="SELECT [newTitle], [newsDetails], [dateExpires], [newsImage], [dateCreated] FROM [News] WHERE (([GroupID] = @GroupID) AND ([dateExpires] >= @dateExpires))"> <SelectParameters> <asp:QueryStringParameter DefaultValue="0" Name="GroupID" QueryStringField="Gid" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="dateExpires" DefaultValue='<%= DateTime.Now.ToString() %> 'Type="DateTime" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource> ** NOTE the DateTime does not show up in blue - if that helps with a solution **
I am importing a csv file to SQL 2005 table. The source column is coming as datetime. The destination filed is a datetime type. I would like to update the destination with the time part from the source. I used the data conversion to convert it to time using "database time[DT_DBTIME]". For a source value "2/08/2007 21:51:07" this inserts a value "2007-08-03 21:51:07.000". I need the column to have a value as "1900-01-01 21:57:07.000".
Can someone please tell me how do I do this conversion?
I am using SQL Express database and where can I set the default value to my Data field to auto insert the current date-time value? I tried to find the setting but can't seem to find it. Any help is much appriciated. Thanks in advance.
I have a report with datetime parameter which is required to be optional (there should be an option not to select this parameter which would cause in not narrowing result of this report by this parameter).
I used datetime parameter
@daTo (to have the calendar control for selecting date) and check on "Allow Null" value. Here is default Value.
I've also tried to set DefaultValue expression was "=Nothing". Â
IN my query of data set, here is the part I use the parameter @daTo  ... Where (@daTo IS NULL OR TRUNC(@daTo) >= TRUNC(pe.start_time) ....
But when I run the report, I got below error:
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected DATE got NUMBER
I think it @daTo value actually not null so it try to TRunc the value
I don't know how to set null value default in my report.
Ilve install sql server 2012 in my pc and i want to change datetime default format. How can i do this and please i dont want to take the result from select convert() or select cast or something like this. I ve want to take the format i want writing query select datecolumn from table.Â
Now the format i have is:Â 2015-11-16 09:04:00.000
And i want this format: 16.11.2015 09:04:00
Is any way to convert automaticaly by select only column? or can i change at all once? or must write function to when i select the column can change automatic ? or another thing, i ve see in column properties something like formula. In computed column specification in formula i wrote this:Â
And I take the format i want automaticaly but i get the current date for all rows and i cant edit or insert that column anymore. So, how to change the format of date time but no from select query.
i have migrated a DTS package wherein it consists of SQL task.

Hi All, can someone help me, i've created a stored procedure to make a report by calling it from a website. I get the message error "241: Syntax error converting datetime from character string" all the time, i tryed some converting things but nothig works, probably it is me that isn't working but i hope someone can help me. The code i use is:
CREATE proc CP_Cashbox @mID varchar,@startdate datetime,@enddate datetime as set dateformat dmy go declare @startdate as varchar declare @enddate as varchar
--print "query aan het uitvoeren"
select sum(moneyout) / sum(moneyin)*100 as cashbox from dbo.total where machineID = '@mID' and njdate between '@startdate' and '@enddate' GO
I click on menu item SSIS and enable logging to my SQL Database (SSIS log provider for SQL Server). When I run the package it runs fine for the first time. Upon subsequent runs I get the following error.
[Log provider "SSIS log provider for SQL Server"] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E14. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80040E14 Description: "There is already an object named 'sysdtslog90' in the database.".
It seems like I need to drop the table every time to avoid this error. Is there a way I can log all package logs to single table historically? Any weblink or tip is appreciated.
update tblPact_2008_0307 set student_dob = '30/01/1996' where student_rcnumber = 1830when entering update date in format such as ddmmyyyyi know the sql query date format entered should be in mmddyyyy formatis there any way to change the date format entered to ddmmyyyy in sql query?
I created a column in a table with datatype uniqueidentifier which is set as RowGUID and the default value to newsequentialid(). I get the following error whenI try to save the table
Error validating default value for column 'ColumnName'.
When I call this function and the database field 'Login' is null, then I get an error message "Conversion from type 'DBNull' to type 'String' is not valid." I've supplied a default value in my stored procedure and I've also provided a default value in the result value in the function. How do I get around this? Thanks lblLastUserLogin.Text = GetLastUserLogin().ToString() Private Function GetLastUserLogin() As String Dim result As String = "" Dim con As New SqlConnection("server=x.x.x.x;database=database;uid=x;password=x") Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("GetLastUserLogin", con) cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure cmd.Parameters.Add("@UserID", SqlDbType.Int).Value = lblUserID.Text cmd.Parameters.Add("@ReturnVal", SqlDbType.SmallDateTime).Direction = ParameterDirection.Output Using con con.Open() cmd.ExecuteNonQuery() result = CType(cmd.Parameters("@ReturnVal").Value, String) End Using Return resultEnd Function CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[GetLastUserLogin] -- OUTPUT parameter to hold the count. @UserID int, @ReturnVal smalldatetime = ' ' OUTPUT AS -- This will return the last date returned by the SELECT query. Set @ReturnVal = (SELECT MAX(Login) FROM TUserLogs WHERE UserID=@UserID)
I work with Microsoft visual studio 2005. i get data from a table by ADO.NET :
SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection(strConnectionString); sqlConn.Open(); .....
it works fine.
but when i open the SQL Server 2005 express edition and connect to the server (inside the same computer) and run the code again ,the Open() function fails with the exception :
Cannot open user default database. Login failed.
disconnecting the server doesn't help and even closing the SQL Server 2005 application doesn't help. Only restarting the computer enables the Open() command to work again.
What is best practise for what this number should be?
I have seen guidance saying set to a number greater than 25000, but not from any source I particularly know or trust. (I checked SANS, NIST-CIS and the NSA, but I couldn't find anything.
while executing the following statement: select convert(datetime,'Nov 31, 2002 10:05pm') got the following error: The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
the datetime set is mdy is there any way to make this work though this is not according to the iso standarts.
Hi, I need a help!!! I am trying to convert string to datetime and i dont know how to... when i run my stored procedure I got an error message: Server: Msg 242, Level 16, State 3, Line 45 The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
part of my stored procedure that gives me an error message is:
case when b.ClaimStatusCode <> 3 then cc.BenefitEndDate else NULL end, '00-00-0000' as MaxBenefitDate
So when ClaimStatusCode is NOT closed (claimstatuscode <>3) is going to show cc.BenefitEndDate...but if claim is closed (claimstatuscode = 3) then its going to show '00/00/0000' on the crystal report.
or maybe someone know how to write a formula in crystal report to be able to do this.
I have a function that is based aounr the input of parameters. The last remaing issue is that I am required to enter the data into the parameter field as mm/dd/yyyy. I want to be able to enter the data as dd/mm/yyyy. I have tried to use
WHERE (CONVERT(datetime,src_terrier.datadate,103) = @dt_src_date) AND..........
But this just throws an error "Msg 8114, Level 16, State 1, Procedure spWTRalldatareportsummary, Line 0 Error converting data type nvarchar to datetime."
GO Anybody got any ideas as to what I have done wrong? I have also tried it without the N just before the date and get a varchar version of the same error.
I need to load a table with 820,000 records from a Sybase db via DTS. It always fail with the error: "Error at destination for row number 820000. Could not allocate space for object in tablespace tempdb . The default filegroup is full.".
There is only the primary filegroup defined in the db. I've increased the size from 1.5GB to 2GB, and specify that it shd grow automatically by 10% and there's no limit to the size. There is still some 28GB in the server, so it should be fine.
It still fail so I added another file to the primary filegroup with size 100MB. Again, it failed with the same error msg.
When I connect to SQL Server 2000 using SQL Server authentication I get error message error 4064, cannot open user default database. I can connect however if I use Windows Authentication. The problem started when I did the ffg. -backup sql db1 -restore db1 to another name (db2) -drop db1 -use sp_detach -use sp_attach to attach db2 as db1 (rename database)
When I connect in Query Analyzer via SQL Authentication I get the error, however via any other method it works fine.
