I do not have access to VS, but I hear it can do this... how can I do it without VS?
I am using CREATE ASSEMBLY to load dll form my server to SQLServer on my server (Same machine). How can I load the dll to another server? Do I have to write it on a directory on that server first? I tried to run the command from my pc connected to the other server, and I get a "cannot find file" error.

Problem: (asp.net 2.0)I x-copy from my development server a database named C:site_testsite.mdf to C:site. When I attach the database with Server Management Studio Express, it list the name as: "C:site_testsite.mdf" eventhough on the live server the database is in the C:site directory and my connection string in my web.config is "C:sitesite.mdf". But everything works until a week later when I need to make a field change to a table on the live site: I'm forced to re-attach the database, but this time it list the database as:C:sitesite.mdf". When I re-attach I get a NT AUTHORITYSERVICE does not have permission. So I give NT AUTHORITYSERVICE permission on the directory and files and ownership with Server Management Stuidio Express, but I still get the error. What am I'm doing wrong? Thanks for the help--Dietrich
At ScottGu's Blog about "Database Publishing Wizard", AlexD from codeplex said: "Regarding the multiple requests for versioning, backup/restore of remote database, and selection of individual objects - these are all things we are actively looking at for our next release in the first half of 2007." After so many searches, I still don't know if this tool performs Versioning, i.e, when deploying the database, just update de diferences between the local and server database. Did Visual Studio Express 2008 have somethingh like that? (I know that VS Team Edition 2005 had). If this tool can't make it (versioning), which tool/method did you recomend me? Thanks in advance. Alberto
I am using a login control ( using SQL express) for my application. Everthing works fine in my local machine, but after I deploy the application to the production server, I am getting an error says: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) I think it's becasue the SQL Express database which has the user login information has been set up correctly in the production server: Here is my connection string for SQL Express in my local box <add name="SQLExpress" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|ASPNETDB.MDF;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> Any ideas what I should do to solve this issue
Can someone tell me the easiest way to deploy a SQL/MSDE server database via an installation package.
I have developed an application using SQL server and VB .Net. I am now writing the deployment/setup.exe that will create the database in SQL server. I will have a seperate client installation that will install the program files for client computers
I thought it would be as simple as connecting to SQL server and then executing the script that I had created using Enterprise manager Generate scripts wizard. This script runs OK in the query analyzer but not using conn.execute script.
I know there must be a simple solution that everyone else knows. What is it? Your help is appreciated !
i want to develop a web application that use SQL Server Database, i have installed SQL Server & VS.NET in my local computer and i'm ready to develop, but before getting started, i want to know how i will upload mydatabae in my host,
actually i want to know should i know the settings & properties of my host that support SQL Server, or without know them i can devekop my apploication and after developing localy with just a few tasks upload my ( Sql Server) database?????
i'm worry actually about this, plz say what you know about this. thanks
I'm on day 3 of troubleshooting.... still no luck!Very simple application. Extract data from the database and populate the GridView.Following error message:Server Error in '/WebSite3' Application.
An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:Webspaceigiriabcabc.comwwwWebSite3App_DataDatabase.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.-------------------------------------------------Look familar? so i Googled it and tried everything, from removing the User Instance = true in the web.config and even adding intial Catalog = Database and it didnt work.Instead i was greeted with a Newer Error msg:Server Error in '/WebSite3' Application.
Could not open new database 'Database'. CREATE DATABASE is aborted.Could not attach file 'C:Webspaceigiriabcabc.comwwwWebSite3App_DataDatabase.mdf' as database 'Database'.File activation failure. The physical file name "D:-- Work Documents --WorkezabcWebSite3App_DataDatabase_log.LDF" may be incorrect. The log cannot be rebuilt when the primary file is read-only.Next i have no idea why it's pointing back to my location directory hence that could be the issue but i'll leave it to you experts for your valueable input. It's uploaded onto a web server running ASP 2.0 and MS SQL Server 2005 i thinkFeel free to ask if you need additional informationThanks for reading!
Sorry for posting this here, I couldn't find an accurate forum name to post this in.
We are using Windows SBS Server 2003 with SQL Server installed. We have a static IP. I am wondering if we can host our database. I am specifically interested in having outside websites access our database. Is there anything special I need to do to make this happen? I am pretty clueless about this.
As we know Sql Server 2005 provides its ability to deploy clr assembly on it. However my problem is that my assembly has a configuration file. I used ConfigurationManager.GetSection to create some of the object. When I am deploying the project the trouble is that the app.config is missing. I used a class lib project type to create the assembly. Besides changing a storing method, can I still use this config file to reach my goal? Sqlserver.exe.config is not a good idea and it is not workable. The sqlserverexe host cannot find the assembly files.
Hi! I have the report server in Share Point integrated mode. When I Deploy a report from a VS Report Server project by running Visual Studio on the machine where reporting servicers is running, everything works fine. But if I try the same thing on any other machine on the network, I get the following message:
TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer ------------------------------
A connection could not be made to the report server http://test/.
I get a Report server login pop up Is there a default login and password for a default install of the report server? I am trying to deploy my report from my computer to our server. I can upload from my computer but can not deploy to the server.
While developing the packages in our developers environment the packages should be stored in file system. Once after the completion of the development, while moving these packages to upstream environments the packages should be deployed to sql server. Is this scenario possible? If possible, can anybody give me some tips for how to do that.
Basically It is like the developers make their changes in the file system packages (internally versions are mainintained by source control). After the completion of the development whenever we do a build and deploy to the upstream systems we should move the packages from file system to sql server database. There is a scheduler in sql server which is responsible for executing these packages.
Can anybody give me some examples?
Another question.
Assume that in the developers environment there is a central sql server database which is storing all the packages in MSDB database. Suppose at a time 2 developers are making modification to a single package. How it behaves? Is parallel developemnt supported in SSIS?
Hi all, I have some problem when deploy ssis packages to sql server
In the deployment wizard, I follow the wizard steps to deploy my ssis packages to sql server that choose deploy to sql server and unchecked (Rely on server storage for encryption) and then following the step to finished. After that, I select data from msdb(sysdtspackages90) in column packagedata has been encrypt. But i don't want to encrypt this package
Ok, I created SSIS packages on my local box. All of my packages are using config files for the db connections and other configurations that'll be changed per environment. My question is how do I deploy the .dstx file and the associated config file to the servers?
Right now I'm running the packages in BIDS as I create them. I now want to run them on an actual server
Hi, when deploying assembly from VS into SQL Server 2005, deployment fails with these error messages:
Msg 0, Level 11, State 0, Line 0 A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded. Msg 0, Level 20, State 0, Line 0 A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.
I'm deploying assembly with UNSAFE permission setting. What's wrong, please?
In my ASP.NET application I am using authentication/Login controls. I have my development configuration running correctly... my providers are setup in the web config along with the appropriate connection strings for these providers. In the development environment .NET Framework 2.0 and SQL Server Express 2005 configured in IIS, ASPNETDB installed in App_Data. I am able to create new user accounts and re-login under these accounts, so all validation is working on the development servers. Now... I need to deploy the ASP.NET 2.0 site. My provider is allegedly ASP.NET 2.0, with SQL Server 2000, implimented on a seperate backend server which I utilize in my application during development to reduce configuration issues during deployment. I can create databases and utilize SQL Server Management Studio locally (2005) to perform all appropriate development tasks on my remote SQL 2000 Server. However, I need to deploy ASPNETDB on that remote SQL 2000 Server (apparently my provider has no instance of SQL Server Expres 2005 running on the web server). I tried to use the Import/Export Wizard in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio, I can only transfer the tables and views to my remote ASPNETDB database (which I had to create from the provider side utilities). I have tried using the "Copy Database..." command on the ASPNETDB database, but my error is: "The destination SQL Server must an SQL Server 2005 instance". ...Then I tried to script the database and run it against the remote server within the Import/Export Wizard... this failed miserably... massive Syntax Errors puked out of the parser. ...Then I tried to mirror the ASPNETDB database to the remote SQL Server 2000 instance... my error is: "The destination SQL Server must an SQL Server 2005 instance". ...Then I tried creating an SSIS package utilizing the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task". This failed as well... reporting that the Login cannot be null... apparently a known issue and unrelease fix. So now I'm stuck! How can I impliment the ASPNETDB on a remote SQL Server 2000 instance? Theoretically, if I change the configuration of the providers for ASP.NET the Login/Authentication controls in the web.config file to point to the new ASPNETDB instance attached to the remote SQL 2000 Server, and of course... if I could get the stored procedures ported it should work right? The schema should be in tact whereas I used the Import/Export wizard to at least get the tables and views ported to the remote SQL 2000 Server. But the 55 stored procedures and 1270 system stored procedures still need to be transferred. How can I accomplish this? I hope I provided enough of an overview... Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Don't hesitate on any questions.
I have 4 sql 2000 servers. One is a the primary, one is a local stand-by, one a remote standby and one is a training server. WHen configuring which server should monitor log shipping I was torn between the local standby and the training. The training server which only has a few users if ever, might be used for some DTS tasks in the future for some B to B stuff. Based upon this I am leaning on the local standby to monitor. Anyone have an experience or input? Thanks! (No I can't buy any more servers)
What are the minimum permissions required to deploy an SSIS package to SQL Server? Here is what I have tried:
1. No additional permissions (i.e user created with no special permissions):
Deployment Error: No execute permissions on sp_put_package???
2. Dbowner role on msdb dataabase
Deployment Error: The SaveToSQLServer method has encountered OLE DB error code 0x80040E14 (Access to Integration Services package 'xxx' is denied.). The SQL statement that was issued has failed.
3. Sqladmin role on login: No errors
Most DBAs are reluctant to give sqladmin role to developers. Is there any way around this restriction?
I've been creating a vb.net 2005 windows form application using Everywhere and it has been going pretty well. However, I haven't had much luck finding any help on how to deploy my Everywhere database file(s) and Everywhere itself. To install redistribute Everywhere, can I just add the the 8 .dlls found in the Everywhere directory into my VS setup project? Also, what database file(s) do I need to deploy in my windows setup?
I have a SSIS package, which get data from oracle 9i, and dump into sql server 2005 64bit itanium, its running fine. When I am deploying the package on SQL Server 2005 its showing me the error with connection. on 64bit Oracle Net manager showing its able to connect oracle successfully. I think actually the problem is with encryption, as the package is developed on 32bit machine, therefore all connection strings are encrypted for that machine. Is there some has faced same issue? please help!
After using FTP to transfer my site to Dotster, I get an error upon running the site. Here are the source error and stack trace respectively: Line 5: void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) {Line 6: SiteMap.SiteMapResolve += new SiteMapResolveEventHandler(AppendQueryString);Line 7: if (!Roles.RoleExists("Administrators")) Roles.CreateRole("Administrators");Line 8: if (!Roles.RoleExists("Friends")) Roles.CreateRole("Friends"); [SqlException (0x80131904): An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)] The host provider says I must create the database [on their server] using their on-line utility, Is this true? Or do I need to configure the server to allow remote connections? If the latter is true, how is it accomplished? Thanks in advance.... any help is appreciated.
i need a regex support in SQL 2005 server. i've downloaded SQL regex support project from http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/07/02/SQLRegex/default.aspx?loc=en. but in order to enable regex support i needed to open VS 2005. compile the project and deploy it to SQL server. now i can use Regexp-s in SQL queries. However this is not elegant way to deploy everytime SQL Database project via Visual Studio to every MS SQL server i want. my question is : how can i deploy without using Visual Studio?
