Apr 23, 2008I need to combine the details of two tables and narrow the data included.
in my tutor table i have
tutorLastName, tutorSessions and tutorSkills
in my term table i have
week, date, session_Name, tutorName
i need to combine the tales to show:
(from the term table) week, date,session_Name, tutorName,
(from the tutor table) tutorSkills.
i then need to narrow the table down so it shows only tutors with guitar skills and the term dats when the session_name is empty
i can run the two searches sepereately but cannot combine them i am tryin to use Where date = "whateverdate" AND session_name is null
AND tutorSkills = guitar
please help and tell me where im going wrong
Database Automatically Creates Xxx_Temp Table While Modifying / Updating Table Structure .

I am new to the SQL Server 2005 development.
From last 1 week or so, i have been facing very strange problem with my sql server 2005s database
which is configured and set on the hosting web server. Right now for managing my sql server 2005 database,
i am using an web based Control Panel developed by my hosting company.
Problem i am facing is that, whenever i try to modify (i.e. add new columns) tables in the database,
it gives me error saying that,
"There is already an object named 'PK_xxx_Temp' in the database. Could not create constraint. See previous errors.
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider".
where xxx is the table name.
I have done quite a bit research on the problem and have also searched on the net for solution but still
the problem persist.
Thanks in advance. Any help will be appreciated.
Transact SQL :: Dynamically Alter Schema Of Stage Table When Source Table Structure Changed?

Now in a next step I am deleting the records from #revf table. Please see the delete code below

I don't want to create this #rev table so that i can avoid the delete statement. But data should not affect. Can i rewrite the above as below:

Because the above query is not fetching some indexes in some version of SQL Server database .

when I tried using an IIF expression, I always get a blank or an empty field even if it was a text.
could someone clarify this ? I don't know whether it is just me or is it a limitation.

I'm French, so sorry for the faults.
I want to make a report with a table who gives some figures of a family and elements of her subfamily. For example, for the Fruit family I have like subfamily the apple, the pear, the banana.
I tried to make a table with a group but to aggregate some figures of the subfamily dataset, calculations are complicated.
So I make two report:
- one for a dataset for the subfamily with a parameter (the family).
- one for the dataset of the family.
In the second, I want to put the under-report (the first) in the details of the table while passing in parameter the family.
But, I have an error when I want to see the result:"
Error: Impossible to post the under-report."
If you can help me that would be sympathetic!

Northwind - Problem With 'Order Details' Table

I faced a problem when using Northwind sample Database. On of the table in the database is 'Order Details'. I am unable to query on the table because of the space in the name ('Order'<space> 'Details') of the table. When I remove the space in the name, the reports associated in Cognos are not working properly. Let me know whether there is any purpose to put the name like that and if I want to see the data in query mode how it is possible.

Static Data In Table's Details Section?

Can anyone tell me is it possible to put static data (a string) inside details section of a table?
I've tried to find some more pieces of information in the Report Definition Language Specification, but to no avail.
When I put some strings as a detail's cells values they are displayed in the preview window in VS.
But thay are invisible when I open my report using ReportViewer in my app.
So does it means that the only accepted value of a cell within the details section of a table is a name of the field from DataSet (something like =Fields!FieldName.Value) ?

Linked Server Not Displaying Table Details
Apr 16, 2007I have created a linked server using my local SQL2005. The linked server can be seen as a linked server, but the database can not been expanded to see the tables, stored procedures, views, and other details regarding the linked server. The only method that I have found that will allow me to see all the details is to use XP's Remote Desktop Connection to access the database. Has anyone else experienced this problem, if so, how did you resolve it?

I have came across a table in SQL server 2000 which named 'Order Details' in the sample 'Northwind' database which is available with the product. Am using the eval version . Generally no table name exist with a 'space' between the words. But the table 'Order Details' exist in the Northwind sample database.
Due to the naming convention i can't run sql queries on that. Is anyone aware of this type of issues.

1) I don't know any thing about Columns name!!! i just know they have same structure and as far as i know , "Insert...select..." need the Column list to operate correctly, am i right?
2) these two table have One Prinary Key column with IDENTITY feature.

1) I need to create a product using labour and materials.
2) I need to create hardware using labour and materials.
3) I need to be able to include some hardware in some products.
4) Some materials in the product are made of a culmination of materials. E.G., Concrete is made of sand, stone, and cement.

please read below and share your thoughts and opinions o what's the efficient and best way to structure the tables.
I need to capture user's input daily and every hour, text can be from 20-100 characters, and my company is expecting to have 50,000+users in the future...Also the hrs's text can be stored for max 120 days, after that data would be deleted from the table(s)
An example is put all together, (not sure if it is the right and efficient way)

I have one field "Status" with 15 different types of values. Like 1, 2, 3, 4 .. 15.
Now this Status field contains the values like this:

2 3
3 1,2,3
4 13,15
What is the best way to organize this information in SQLServer table?
My idea is Create one table with the following volumns: ID, Status1, Status2, Status3, ... Status14, Status15.
Now the above data look like this:
Id Status1 Status2 Status3 ... Status13 Status14 Status15
1 1 1 0 0 0 0
2 0 0 1 0 0 0
3 1 1 1
4 0 0 0 1 0 1
So, In future If they add new column they can easily add column like status16.
And status table look like this

We have equipment table which stores Equipment_ID,Code,Parent_Id etc..for each Equipment_ID there is a Parent_Id. The PK is Equipment_ID Now i want to select the Code for the Parent_Id which also sits in the same table. All the Parent_Id's also are Equipment_ID's.

There is another table for Equipment_Tree which has got Equipment_Tree_ID,Parent_Id and Equipment_ID does not has the Code here.
Select query where i need to select the Code for all Parent_Id's.
Is There A Way To Open SSRS 2005 Tree View In A Table In A Details Row Upward?

I building some reports with SSRS, and showing data in a table. The table has one Details row that forms at the end multiple rows with the tree view (+ and -).
Is there a way to open the tree view upwards and not downwards so that the children of level 2, 3 etc come over the parent row?
I've goggled it everywhere, but I don't seem to find the answer. If anyone could help me out, I would appreciated.

Question On Table Structure
Jun 24, 2007All,On my aspx page i have 2 sets of checkboxlists, each with a number of items and i am storing that info in my db. currently i have my table set up this way: InfoID--PK autoUserID-intCheckBoxList1ID-intCheckBoxList2ID-int So a user can select more than 1 item in each checkbox, so this table will contain multiple user-ids and each id from the respective checkboxes. My question is, is there a better way to store this data? I hope this is clear, any input would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.

it has a field called "audience" as the name defines i want to choose who will see my albumsit is integer and as follows:0 value=everyone1=friends only2=private
as i started to write a query for it i came into this problem: for exampleif i write SELECT * FROM UserAlbum where audience=1 then only friends can see the infowhat happens to everyone with value of 0?when i set it to 0, friends should also be able to see the info because it is set for everybody
i noticed i should use "in cluase" like thisSELECT * FROM UserAlbum where audience in ('0','1') > so in this way both everyone and also friends can see the info
or maybe i should add 3 different fields for private,public,friends
it seems to be simple but at the same time harddoes anyone have a suggestion?
