Display Data In Report Grouped By Datetime

Hello,
I have the following situation :
I have a reportmodel where i have the a datetime value (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mms), a salespersonid , a salespersondescription, and an amountsold.
i would like to display a report where i can see per hour (start worktime is 8 am and end is 8 pm) which salesperson sells the most. the objectif of this report is to see in what period of the day the sales are highest.
Can anybody provide me some tips how to accomplish this.

I simply want to exclude the time from the datetime datatype in my queries and display the date only.
Do I have to piece it together with datepart() or is there a better way?

I had an SSRS 2005 report that had the lowest level grouped instead of printing a detail line (the reports display summary tables that have all the necessary grouping already applied). Every time I tried to clear the grouping, the report designer crashed. In the end I created the report again from scratch.
Should I have been able to clear the grouping or is the conversion from a detail line to grouping, a one-way process?

Hello,
I have a drilldown matrix report similar to the one below...state - drilldowns to sales person which lists the sales for a particular product...in each state there are usually more than 10 names, however i would only like to see the TOP 10 name appear for the sale off that product
My SQL is as follows
SELECT Sales,Consultant, ProductNo, State, Sum(Value) As SumOfValue,
From tblSales
where productNo = 2000
ORDER BY SumOfValue Desc;
If I put in the select TOP 10 it returns only the top 10 for all the states however i need the top 10 off EACH state, is there a way to filter this..or better yet a sort button which will show the top 10 only.

NSW charlie brown 25
bob snow 20
william tell 10
....50 sales reps..etc
WA Charles manson 34
fiona apple 20
peter 1 ....more sales reps etc

Hello
I have a report that retrieves its data from Analysis Services. The data includes a count and dollar value of projects against their current status: It looks something similar to
(group1) status1 10 $200,000
(detail) p1 1 $5,000
p2 1 $10,000
.
.
p10 1 $20,000
(group1) status3 5 $90,000
(detail) .
.
(group1) status4 15 $150,000
(detail) .
.
In the report I hide the detail rows. I have a fixed/known number of statuses (in this case 4) and need to show all 4 in the report. eg
(group1) status1 10 $200,000
(detail) p1 1 $5,000
p2 1 $10,000
.
.
p10 1 $20,000
(group1)status2 0 $0
(group1) status3 5 $90,000
(detail) .
.
(group1) status4 15 $150,000
(detail) .
.
ie in this case I need to show status 2 (that doesn't exist in the data set) with zero totals.
Does anyone know if this is possible to get SSRS to display each of the status groups (in a known fixed list) and then match them to the records in the dataset.
As an alternative, if I were using SQL Server I could add rows to the dataset using a union statement. Is there similar functionality using mdx? My mdx skills are very basic.

This is probably one of the easier questions you get, but I have brain freeze and just can't do it and very rusty.
How can i assign the the values from sql below into variables e.g I want to get all new, pending and cancelled Leads from the rows returned which will come from the status id.

Hello,
I`ve created a table in a list that is grouped by years. Result is a Report, that consists of several years (List grouped by years, each containing the table with the data of the year).
Now I want to aggregate some numbers of the table on each page (year) of the list.
The sum()-function - doesn't matter which scpoe I use - always aggregates only the values of the actual list (Year), not considering the years before.
Can anyone help?

I am trying to export report to .CSV , but I am unable to export grouped data, instead to grouped data , it exporting detail data,for example my grouped data in matrix is as below , I need to export below data to .csvÂ

After testing out the application i write on the local pc. I deploy it to the webserver to test it out. I get this error.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The conversion of a char data type to a
datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
Notes: all pages that have this error either has a repeater or datagrid which load data when page loading.
At first I thought the problem is with the date, but then I can see
that some other pages that has datagrid ( that has a date field) work
just fine.
anyone having this problem before?? hopefully you guys can help.

How do I display multiple parameter values on report page from a multi-value report parameter. For example, I have a report parameter where users can select multiple attendance codes and I want them displayed at the top of the report after it's run.
Currently, only the first value is showing on the report.

I'm stuck on converting a datetime field to Int. Basically, one of the fields in the select returns the datetime of a journey. However I need to be able to add up the number of days for a specific person who done that journey, e.g. it will return 21/08/2014, 22/08/2014 etc...
I then need to total up the days as a new field to display the number of days.
Can you do this by converting a datetime to int then use COUNT on the int?

I have a requirement to display the elapsed time between two datetime fields. What i have been able to do is datediff the dates and get the elapsed time in minutes and then i am trying to format it as HH:MM.
For example, an activity started on Nov 1 2007 08:00 and finished Nov 1 23:59, the elapsed time should be displayed as 15:59.
The other example is if the activity spans over a couple of days, it should be say 49:03.
I put the following code in the format of the textbox, but it only seems to work when the length of the minutes is greater than 1.

I'm querying a database table that creates a time stamp in seconds only. I have a starting time of
1099725928 = 11/6/2004 12:25:28 AM. So that if another entry is made 1 second later the time stamp value entered into the table is 1099725929. The front end application does the converstion from the seconds counter to the datetime format. The query I am writing calls information from this table for a different application that does not have the conversion capability. If I know the starting point (I don't want to create a conversion table) which is 1099725928 = 11/6/2004 12:25:28 AM, is it possible to write into my query script a function to convert the seconds value to the correct datetime format? It would need to accurately account for leapyear and even/odd months.

Hi,
I have a column of type datetime in sqlserver 2000. Whenever I try to insert the date
'31/08/2006 23:28:59'
I get the error "...datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value"
I've looked everywhere and I can't solve the problem. Please note, I first got this error from an asp.net page and in order to ensure that it wasn't some problem with culture settings I decided to run the query straight in Sql Query Anaylser. The results were the same. What else could it be?

I am working on a stock price analysis project. Stock prices are stored in SQL Server as tick by tick data (that means in a high frequency) and need to be grouped by minutes in order to display them as as high, low, open and close prices in a candlestick or similar chart.
The fields in the table are:
Time (for every stock price tick)
Price (stock price)
Symbol (of the stock)
A sample time series would look like this:
11:45:01 $22.11 MSFT
11:45:02 $22.10 MSFT
11:45:04 $22.25 MSFT
...
...
...
11:45:58 $22.45 MSFT
11:46:03 $22.22 MSFT
11:46:08 $22.25 MSFT
...
...
...
11:46:59 $22.45 MSFT
The result of the SQL query should be:
Symbol Time Open High Low Close
MSFT 11:45 $22.11 $22.45 $22.10 $22.45
MSFT 11:46 $22.22 $22.45 $22.22 $22.45
This is the SQL statement I came up with but obviously doesn't work:
SELECT DATEPART(Minute,Time), MIN(Price), MAX(Price) FROM dbo.TimeSales WHERE Symbol='MSFT' GROUP BY DATEPART(Minute,Time)
I would appreciate any suggestions.

I have a simple report that has nothing but an image. The image is part of the project. The image displays in the VS 2005 dev environment when report is previewed. But when deployed and run on the report server website, it does not display. If the report is print previewed or exported to Excel, the image displays. I've set my browser to have the least security as possible but still to no avail (made the website trusted as well). The server is running SQL Server 2005 SP2. My browser is IE7. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

I am developing some reports for an ASP.NET solution, but my IDE does not display the design view of the reports. Instead, it only displays the XML definition even when I click View Designer. Yesterday the reports showed up correctly, and I know that the design view is there. Is there a setting that has been changed somewhere?

I am trying to display a report parameter value in the report body, but when I run the report it is displaying the actual dimensional value [Product].[Category]&1 instead of the value that user has selected "Bikes". The report is built on Analysis Service data mart.
Environment: SQL Server 2005 - Analysis Services & Reporting Services.

Hi.
I used insert command to insert a image file to my SQL like
insert [ABC].[dbo].[Itemimage] value ('12345', 'c:Imagepicture1.jpg'). but when I use report
design to read this DB, I can't show this image in my report.
Does anybody can help me to find out my error?

Hi to all,
My idea is to create one main report. Now, depending on the parameters the report is receiving, my matrix will shift and change groups/rows.
For example, using only one dataset:
Client1 sees only activities/costs
Client2 sees activity/costs/blabla1/blabla2
Client3 sees activity/costs/subtotal for costs/blabla1/blabla2/blabla3
Basically, without having to create various reports, I will have one major, dynamic report.
The best that I have accomplished is hiding the non-wanted column, although the end result isn€™t good.
Thanks in advanced, personally I think it€™s a good challenge€¦ Any suggestion?
