However, it runs fine when I double click the package and execute it using the Execute package utility. That really puzzles me.

Please advise.

Package Runs Fine From BIDS But Dtexec On Same Box Gives Insufficient Product Level Error

Mar 16, 2006

Running eval. edition of Sql Server Standard 2005. "Insufficient product level" error is thrown during validation phase of an OleDBCommand data flow task. This task type is not licensed in Sql Server 2005 standard? The component runs a very simple sql update statement against a one row table in Sql Server 2005.

If it works from BIDS, should it not work from dtexec.exe on the same box?

Does dtexec run under the security context of the logged in user?

Thanks,

Ken

SSIS Package Runs Fine Except As A Scheduled Job

Mar 14, 2006

I have an SSIS package created from a SQL 2000 DTS using the Migration Wizard. The package imports data from a MySQL database to a SQL 2005 64-bit database running on 64-bit windows server 2003. The package runs fine when executed from SQL Server Management Studio but when I schedule it as a job it fails with:

Executed as user: [the domain admin account]. The package execution failed. The step failed.

I've tried a lot of different ways to make this work including creating a new SSIS package. Again, the package ran fine except when it was scheduled as a job.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks!

Integration Services :: SP Runs Fine In SSMS But Failed In Execute Task / All Parameters Checked Ok

Jul 30, 2015

There is one SP with parameters varchar, int, varchar and int. It runs perfect in SSMS. Now, I've moved into a Execute SQL task with four IN parameters. In parameter mapping, data type is varchar, long, varchar, long and parameter name is 0,1,2,3. It worked before which is great. Today, I opened this pkg for another testing but failed with the following error:failed with the following error: "Incorrect syntax near ';'.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

I know SP is fine as tested in SSMS.  I could not understand where it could go wrong in the ssis package. Currently using Reporting Service 2000; Visual Studio .NET 2003; Visual Source Safe SSIS 2008 SSAS 2008, SVN --

Package Runs Fine In BIDS, Fails When Scheduled

Dec 28, 2007

I have a 7 step SSIS package that manipulates some data on a DB2 database. The package executes perfectly in Business Intelligence Development Studio. I save the package to my SSIS store and then point my scheduled task to it and it fails after about 9 seconds everytime. I have an identical job that works with a different DB2 database that works without any problem. The only difference is the database it's pointing to.

The package is executing as the same user who created it, which has sysadmin to both the SSIS store and the SQL instance the package is executing on. When I saved the package I selected "Rely on server storage roles for access control" for the protection level.

This one is driving me crazy, can't figure it out. Any idea's?

SSIS Package Runs Fine; SQL Job Fails (DBF Involved)

Jun 14, 2007

I have created an SSIS package which, as its 2nd step, picks up a .dbf table and does a Data Flow Task of putting the .dbf table into a SQL Server 2005 table (which was just truncated in Step 1).

The Connection Manager that works on the .dbf table is Native OLE DBMicrosoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider.

The entire SSIS package runs perfectly when i run it from my development environment.

I then assigned this Package to a SQL Server 2005 Job. The entire package is the sole step of the job.

But when I run the SQL Job, the Job fails immediately on Step 2.

Here is the error message in View History of the SQL Job:

Could someone suggest why this works OK within SSIS but not when the SSIS Pakcage is called from SQL?

thx very much/spirits.

SSIS Package Failing When Run As A Job But Runs Fine In BI Studio

Sep 12, 2007

I'm at a bit of a loss. I've written a package that has about a dozen data flow tasks and each one loads data from text files into tables in a db. It's possible that some of the fields in the text files may have data that would need to be truncated upon insert into the db.

In the data flows, I've set the fields in the data sources I know this could happen to to ignore truncation errors. When I run this within BI Studio, everything works fine. I then loaded the package into the SSIS store on the db server and if I attempt to run it from the SSIS store or if a job executes it, the package appears to be failing because of these truncation errors that I've told it to ignore.

Am I missing something? Thanks!

SSIS Package That Runs Fine Through Command Prompt, XML Error When Run Through SQL Server Agent Job CmdExec

Aug 17, 2006

I have an SSIS package that runs fine through command pormpt although when I try to run it from a SQL Servr Agent Job CmdExec step it bombs out.  Please help this has me stumped...the SSIS package uses an XML connection string so certain key settings such as connection strings and email info can be changed easily.  Currently this is all on the same machine.  I have not moved it beyond where I am developing.

On the command line I am using the following command...

dtexec /F "S:connectionscontacts.dtsConfig" /DE "password"

Job Running SSIS Package Keeps Failing But The SSIS Package By Itself Runs Perfectly Fine

Package Execution Fails In Windows Service But Runs Fine As A Windows Application.

Jun 23, 2006

I am attempting to write a Windows service that watches a database for uploaded files to import. When a new file is found, the corresponding SSIS package is run from the file system with variables passed through. I started development as a Windows app and copied the functionality to a service.

The app runs fine. The service does not. I get a "Failure" each time a package is executed. Everything is identical behind the scenes with the obvious exceptions that OnStart and OnStop handlers are buttons in the app. I added a script task at the beginning of one of the SSIS packages to notify me that it is even running at all. It doesn't even hit that initial task.

Again, the app will run all packages just fine. The data is imported and the results return as "Success."

The following is the code executing the package. Any help is appreciated. I've been banging my head on this one for a few days now. (Is there a tag to format a code sample?)

Dim pkgLocation As String
Dim pkg As New Package
Dim app As New Application
Dim pkgResults As DTSExecResult

pkgLocation = sPackageFolder & PackageName & ".dtsx"

pkg = app.LoadPackage(pkgLocation, Nothing)

Dim vars As Variables = pkg.Variables

vars("ImportId").Value = ImportId
vars("ProductionServer").Value = ProductionServer
vars("ProductionDatabase").Value = ProductionDatabase
vars("SourceFileName").Value = FileName
vars("SourceFilePath").Value = FilePath

pkgResults = pkg.Execute()

Package.Execute/IDTSEvents Vs DTExec

Sep 27, 2006

I am executing a package via vb.net with package.execute using the IDTSEvents interface inheriting DefaultEvents. I am trying to emulate DTExec functionality. The package runs fine and I am catching events, but I don't get nearly as many info and progress events as are put out by DTExec. From my understanding DTExec also used the managedDTS application object, is that not the case? If it uses this does anyone have an ideas on how it is grabbing more events? For example I don't get these events that DTExec shows ..

Info: 2006-09-26 14:22:27.97
Code: 0x40016041
Source: DWB02130
Description: The package is attempting to configure from the XML file "D:SSISConfigurationsDatabase.dtsConfig".
End Info
Info: 2006-09-26 14:22:28.05
Code: 0x40016040
Source: DWB02130
Description: The package is attempting to configure from SQL Server using the configuration string ""Configurations Database";"[dbo].[SSISConfigurations]";"DWB02130";".
End Info

I also don't get as many progress updates during validation, I basically get 0 and 100% while DTExec shows several 1%, 3%, 10%, etc.

Any help is greatly appriciated.

Execute Package Utility

Oct 11, 2006

My SSIS package carries out one data flow task after another e.g.

truncate tables

Copy table 1

cleanup tables

When using the execute package utility in SSMS to run the package , the data flow tasks are listed alphabetically, so it reads:

cleanup tables

Copy table 1

truncate tables

Can I change this so the data flow tasks are listed in the logical order I have specified them in the package as it makes it difficult to work out which step the package is at. And while I'm at it, it keeps telling me every separate task's elapsed time is zero when it's finished. It records the start and end time ok, but it can't seem to work out the elapsed time?!

Thanks

Execute Package Utility Has Encountered A Problem And Needs To Close

Jul 11, 2007

I'm a SQL Server 2000 user trying to get my head around v2005, in particular the changes from DTS to Integration Services.

I've build a few packages in BIDS and they work fine there, but saving them to either the file system or MSDB locations and running them in Management Studio results in:

Execute Package Utility has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If I click on the debug button, I get this:

An unhandled exception ('System.IO.FileNotFoundException') occurred in DTExecUI.exe [404].

I've searched the Internet and found a few people who has also experienced this, but not received any answers.

Is there a kind guru out there with some idea of what is going on? Preferably something that doesn't involve re-installing, because the database has already been configured for our Blackberry users and I can't re-do it now.

Dtexec Utility Command Line

Apr 23, 2008

Hi,
I need to run a package wich is located on the file system of a PC. The problem is that the PC from where I'm running a bat file to call the package from the other PC where the package is, doesn't have SSIS.
So I was wondering if this will work. I believe that I will have to copy the DTExec.exe file to the PC where my bat file calls to the dtsx in the other PC. I am right?
My run.bat will have this line: \PCshared_folderpackage.dtsx.
Will this work?
Thanks

Problem: SSIS Package Failure Using 32-bit DTExec And 64-bit DTExec

Apr 17, 2008

Hi all,

I have a serious problem with my SSIS Package while executing using 32-bit DTExec and 64-bit DTExec.

Here are the details:

Environment:

Windows Server 2003 64-bit (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
SSIS 32-bit & 64-bit installed
SQL Server 2005 (Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1399.06 (X64) - RTM)

SSIS Package details (compiled in 64 bit)

Script tasks only
Microsoft Visual Basic .NET (using TRY...CATCH block)
PreCompileScriptIntoBinaryCode = TRUE
Run64BitRunTime = TRUE

Execution

Batch file that uses DTExec to execute the Package.

SCENARIO
I am trying to exeucte the above SSIS package using both 32-bit and 64-bit DTExec to make it failure by providing invalid connection string. Here are the details,

Wrong connection String using 32-bit Execution

While establishing the connection the error message has been nicely captured in to my Exception block and writes into the log file.

Wrong connection String using 64-bit Execution

While establishing the connection the error has not been catpured anywhere (although I have TRY CATCH block) and it haults there itself with the message "Process is terminated due to StackOverflowException". Later I found that the error is due to the connection string along with the unhandled exception.

Please suggest any one of the following my findings, also if you have any other advice would be very much appreciated.

1. Shall I go ahead and fix the issue by handling those unhandled errors? (e.g Appdomain, application). I tried several but still not working using 64-bit DTExec.

2. Shall I go ahead and use 32-bit DTExec to execute the package? If so, is there any other major issue...like performance or anyother bug?

P.S: We cannot apply any service pack for SQL Server 2005 at the moment. Sorry abt it. If you have any specific hotfix for DTExec (without affecting SQL Server) then we can decide.

Sorry for the lengthy one and Thanks very much for you help in advance .

Thanks again!

Suresh

DTEXEC Runs In Its Own Command Shell ?

Nov 29, 2007

Does anyone know if DTEXEC runs in its own command shell area? The reason I am asking this question is that we have hundreds of old DTS packages that fetch data from Source Progress double-byte and standard databases. When we fetch from a double-byte Progress database, the first thing we do is to set System Environment variables and within the same command prompt session invoke DTS packages via DTSRUN utility. THis method works like a charm using the old DTS packages. We are trying to accomplish the same thing using SSIS and are unable to do so. The SSIS package works fine while fetching data from a non Double Byte Progress database but fails miserably while using a Double Byte Progress database. Has anyone experienced something like this? Any solution for this problem?

Thanks

SQL Server 2008 :: Query Runs Fine Individually But Not Together?

Jul 21, 2015

I am able to select the average, max, etc of the variable in a simple select statement but when I do the following, it doesn't work. The reason I am doing the following is because I am calculating the average and such over a 5 min interval, then saving the output as one line. That is why I condense average, max, min, and stdev into one variable which I then output. why it won't run when I have it like this but will run when it is like this?

will run:

SELECT AVG(NacTemp), MAX(NacTemp),MIN(NacTemp), STDEV(NacTemp)
FROM [DATABASE]
WHERE [UTCDeviceTimeStamp] between DATEADD(minute, -5, GETUTCDATE()) and GETUTCDATE()

won't run but I need it to:

DECLARE @now datetime SET @now = GETUTCDATE() --Universal Time
DECLARE @timeint int SET @timeint = '5' --time interval in minutes
DECLARE @time datetimeSET @time = (SELECT MIN([UTCDeviceTimeStamp]) FROM [DATABASE] WHERE [UTCDeviceTimeStamp] BETWEEN DATEADD(minute, -@timeint,@now) AND @now) -- Timestamp data will be saved as
DECLARE @comma varchar(4) SET @comma = ', '

Dataset Query Runs Fine In VS, But Not On The Reports Server

Mar 28, 2008

I have created a lot of reports using this technique, but this is the first one that doesn't work. As there is absolutely nothing special about it, I can't figure out what the issue is.

I have one dataset that uses parameters chosen from two other dataset results. One dataset result runs just fine and returns values in reporting services, but the other returns blank in reporting services. In Visual Studio, both datasets return data.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what I've done that gives this result as I've never encountered it before and use this method of parametization quite frequently.

The dataset in question doesn't even join any tables, it's a direct select distinct field"1" from table"a".

I'm running SQL2005, SP2.

Thanks for any advice.

Oracle SSIS Runs In DTExecUI, But Not In 32-bit DTExec

Aug 28, 2007

I've worked for awhile to get an SSIS package that connects to Oracle to succesfully run via DTExecUI from a 64 bit SQL Server. I completely understand that DTExecUI runs in 32 bit mode, but I need to initiate the package from a stored proc so I need to be able to utilize the 32 bit DTExec from either a xp_cmdshell call or from an sp_start_job (thanks to MatthewRouche for the suggestion). Both Ora92 and 10g were installed on the SQL Server.

Here's what I've tried unssuccessfully

1. SQL Job - Just calling the package from an SSIS step. I wouldn't expect this to run because it is 64 bit DTExec.
2. SQL Job - A job that calls the 32 bit version of dtexec from cmdexec. Here is 2 examples I have tried, the first is because I came across several postings saying that there is a problem with the "(x86)" for the Oracle driver.

\server_nameE$ProgramFilesLegacyMicrosoftSQLServerX8690DTSBinnDTExec.exe /DTS "PackageName" /SERVER "SERVER_NAME" /SET Package.Variables[PLT].Value;"8H" /CONFIGFILE "\SERVERConfigFile.dtsConfig" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING EW

\server_nameE$Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server (x86)90DTSBinnDTExec.exe /DTS "PackageName" /SERVER "SERVER_NAME" /SET Package.Variables[PLT].Value;"8H" /CONFIGFILE "\SERVERConfigFile.dtsConfig" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING EW

Both of these give me the error below:

System.Exception: System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.

I'm assuming that it is running in 32 bit mode because this was at the beginning of the job history log:

Executed as user: "XXX". ....3042.00 for 32-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved

3. I then tried to call the package from a batch file on a file server that had integration services installed on. Got the same error as above.

I'm obviously missing something if I can get it to work in DTExecUI but not DTExec 32-bit.

Any ideas? Below are some postings I have already visited several times:

Windows 64 bit and Oracle
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=358365&SiteID=1

Connecting to Oracle on 64-bit (x64) machine
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=159581&SiteID=1

One paragraph that stands out on this posting is:

Find the location of the application that is generating the error. Check the path to this location and see if it contains any parenthesis. If so, you must relocate the application to a directory without any parenthesis in the path.
This didn€™t work for me, unless I was doing it wrong.

If this posting was complete, it looks like what I was looking for.

Execute Package Utility / Set Values / How To Set Property Path And Values

Feb 4, 2008

Hi
I have one problem in SSIS for passing Variable Values while executing Package. I'm giving in details as below:

I opened Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
Made Connection to Integration Services
To Execute Package I Right Clicked and Click on Run Package
Then I Clicked on Execute and package was executed successfully.

Problem is that if I try to Set Values then Package through Error
DTExec: Could not set ProcessMode value to M.

Basically I could not understand in which format I should pass the Variables.
What I tried is listed below:

ProcessMode;M
Package.Variables[User:rocessMode].Value;M
Package.Variables[ProcessMode].Value;M
But every time I got errors.

And then I tried from Command Line
DTEXEC /DTS "MSDBLoad_Order" /SERVER SERVERNAME /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING V /SET Package.Variables[ProcessMode].Value;M

First time Process run successfully. And it has changed the ProcessMode to M also. But after that it was also not changing the ProcessMode Value to M.

Please help in regarding. I tried a lot from Site examples also, but could not get proper solution.

Thanks in advance
Bhudev
