SSRS 2005 E-mail Delivery
Mar 14, 2007I have a report server set with an smtp account with Alias set to False but will not allow me to send e-mail outside the network. E-mail report delivery works fine to any e-mail with @mycompany.com but to an e-mail like @hotmail.com it gets rejected saying e-mail not recognized. I tried all config possibilities know to this man but nothing works. If long into the smtp server itself I can send e-mails outside of company. I'm thinking it may require a password from SSRS config but there is no place to put one. Any one know how to config SSRS to deliver e-mails to any and all e-mails accounts?

Mar 19, 2007I am having a strange intermittent problem sending reports via e-mail subscription. The report will be delivered only 20-25% of the time. I have checked the SQL logs, SQL Agent logs, System, App and Secuirty logs and see nothing obvious.
I put a network monitor on the reporting box and looked at all SMTP traffic. What happens is the reporting server connects to the SMTP box, sends the From Address and gets an OK, sends the To Address and gets an Ok. Next the reporting server sends a RSET command to the SMTP and it closes the connection.
No e-mail sent, but reporting services/SQL agent indicate success. Here is a log of the

Reporting Services E-mail Delivery Extension Error

I am having a problem with the e-mail delivery extension in MS SQL Reporting Services 2005. I have some reports that use an Oracle data source. When running the reports through Report Manager the data source works fine and the reports display properly. But when running an automatic e-mail delivery of the reports through a subscription I get the following error message (in the ReportServerService log file):
System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
Doesn't this seem strange when the reports run in Report Manager but not when I send the reports through e-mail? I have Oracle Instant client v. 10.2.0.3 installed on the machine. I am wondering if the e-mail delivery extension has an account that needs privilegies to the oracle client home directory or something like that. Any ideas?

Aug 24, 2007I have a delivery extension that prints to network printers.
Now I add a subscription like a few minutes in the future via web service for each report to print.
Is there a way I can trigger the delivery directly?

I have created a report using sql server 2005 RS.Ive deployed it in the server(localhost)also.In the subsription section of the report manager ive mentioned a emailid to whom ive to send the report.Ive selected the report server email delivery method from the dropdown list.After entering the emailid and scheduling the report and when i click ok i find that the report was not delivered.Im getting this error.
Failure sending mail: The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information.
I culdnt find enything in the log files.
Can any1 help me as how to accomplish this?

I'm using an SMTP server for report delivery an have set the SendMailToUserAlias to False and still can only send reports to e-mails with my domain (user@mycompany.com). I need to send reports to recipients outside my company -- is SSRS capable? If so, how do I configure it to do so?

The only suggestions I have seen along these lines involve scheduling the job every day and then manually editing the SQL Agent job that is created.
However the problem with this is that it completely removes the ability for non programmers to set the schedule themselves using the web interface.

I am currently planning on using Reporting Services for delivery of reports, some of which in turn are reliant on an import from FTP via SSIS.
In the event that the FTP fails I would like the delivery of just the dependant reports to be cancelled for just that day.
Any advice on the best way of achieving this?

Jun 3, 2015I have a report that groups a particular dataset by customer, with a page break between each customer. If print this report, it looks great - one page per customer.
What I would like to do is have the report deployed on schedule to a windows file share, one .pdf file per customer. How to parse the output into individual .pdfs (one per customer) instead of a single .pdf containing all customers? I get it if this is not possible.
My current (painful) workaround would be to replicate the report for each potential customer, and set a schedule for each report to deploy sequentially. (Customer 1 at 9:00, Customer 2 at 9:01, etc).
Currently on SQL Server/Visual Studio 2008.

I want to e-mail a user when a Stored Proc fails, what is the best way to do this? I was going to create a DTS package or is this too complicated?
Also, the Stored Proc inserts data from one table to another, I would like to use Transactions so that if this fails it rolls back to where it was, I'm not sure of the best way to go about this. [JavaScript Error] Cannot Delete User Or User's Authority In Specific Report After Install SQL SP2

I have several reports for users to view on our Intranet. After installation of SQL 2005 SP2 patch, I cannot delete user or user's authority from Report in Properties Tab. An error message was shown on the status bar. It indicated that JavaScript Error: 'Return' statement outside of function. Seems something wrong with the 'Delete' funciton in SQL 2005 after update. The other functions worked fine. Could you point me out how to fix it or need to install any updates / hotfix. Thanks a lot!

I have a view created that gets a listing of users and a view that creates a listing of user groups, but I can't seem to figure out how to get all user groups that are associated with the users. This is what I have.

Unable To Send Database Mail To External User
Jul 13, 2015I have two domains. forest domain abc which has the exchange infrastructure. forest domain xyz which does not have exchange. There is a two way trust set up.
I have set up database mail which sends internally but not externally on the xyz domain its uses mailrelay address to comunicate with exchange. The receive connector is set up correctly on exchange on domain abc as I have managed to send email from a sql server to external contact in the abc domain.
The IP addresses are correct on the receive connector.
The problem is I am unable to send to an external contact from the sql server in the xyz domain. Not sure if this an exchange issue or database mail.

Oct 9, 2015I have done the following and a domain user would not access report created a login to the SQL server to the user (this SQL Server is where data source DB is)went to site setting in Report Manager and made this use a system userright clicked on report folder and made this user in the browser roleeven checked that in the report in question, the user is already in the browser role Still the user would not access the report! "User .......... does not have required permission" is the error message I am getting.

One of the users (out of 200) is unable to open or save reports in the report builder.
the user succeed to open the report builder, when he try to save report that he build from shema he get error. as well when he try to open an existing report that build in the report builder he also get an error,
On open the error is:
The numeric portion of 2pt cannot be parsed as a unit of the type point.
The Initilizer for 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Design.Constants' threw an exception
On Save the error is:
System.IO.StreamReader: Deserialization failed: The type initializer for 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Design.Constants' threw an exception. Line 2, position 2
Please note that I succeed with second user to create ad hoc report on the first user
computer. I also failed to with the first user to create ad hoc on another computer.
It seems like permissions issue

Maintenance Plan - Mail Report Error

Could not generate mail report.An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch.Supply either @id or @name.
I am trying to send a email when a maintenance plan completes. I selected the logging option and checked "Send report to an email recipient". I selected the recipient I created in database mail. Sending test emails out from database mail works.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

SQL Report Server Subscription E-mail Format As MS Word
Jan 22, 2007I am wanting to set-up a subscription to e-mail my reports in MS Word format (either .doc or .rtf) and I do not have the option on my company's report server version.
I have read that it is possible, though I don't have the option. Is this a change to report server, or maybe is our version not updated?
I can e-mail the report out in the following formats:
XML File with report data
CSV (comma delimited)
TIFF File
Acrobat (PDF) file
Web Archive (default)
Excel
Let me know if I am just expecting too much, or if there is something that needs to be updated on our report server.
