Transact SQL :: Column Name Or Number Of Supplied Values Does Not Match Table Definition

Sep 15, 2015

I have two tables (i.e. Table1 and Table2).

SELECT
* FROM [dbo].[Table1]

 Date
id
9/15/2015

[code]...

Table2 has three columns (i.e. Date, Count and Rule Type). Column “Rule Type “has a default value which is “XYZ”..Now I want to insert Data from Table1 to Table2. I am using following query:-

declare @Startdate
datetime
DEclare @enddate
datetime

[code]...

Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.I am using SQL 2012. I understand Table1 has 2 Columns but Table2 has 3 Columns. Is there anyway, I can move data from source table to Destination table where Destination Table has more number of Columns?

Column Name Or Number Of Supplied Values Does Not Match Table Definition When Trying To Populate Temp Table

Jun 6, 2005

Hello,

I am receiving the following error:

Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition

I am trying to insert values into a temp table, using values from the table I copied the structure from, like this:

SELECT TOP 1 * INTO #tbl_User_Temp FROM tbl_User
TRUNCATE TABLE #tbl_User_Temp

INSERT INTO #tbl_User_Temp EXECUTE UserPersist_GetUserByCriteria @Gender = 'Male', @Culture = 'en-GB'

The SP UserPersist_GetByCriteria does a
"SELECT * FROM tbl_User WHERE gender = @Gender AND culture = @Culture",
so why am I receiving this error when both tables have the same
structure?

The error is being reported as coming from UserPersist_GetByCriteria on the "SELECT * FROM tbl_User" line.

Thanks,
Greg.

SQL Msg 107 Error... The Column Prefix Does Not Match With A Table Name Or Alias Name Used In The Query.

Nov 3, 2005

Can someone please answer a problem that I've run into.  I know that it's probably something stupid.  I keep getting this error:Server: Msg 107, Level 16, State 3, Line 1The column prefix 'vFirstTimeEntered' does not match with a table name or alias name used in the query.Here is my query:-----------------------------------------------------------------Update  TimeSheetSectionSet TimesheetSection.SECSTARTDT = vFirstTimeEntered.schlstuidWhere timesheetsection.schlstuid = vFirstTimeEntered.schlstuid AND timesheetsection.sectionid = vFirstTimeEntered.sectionid AND Timesheetsection.secstartdt < '2005-08-01'------------------------------------------------------------------vFirstTimeEntered is a view that I created.Do I need a sub query?  I know that if this was a select query I'd need to put vFirstTimeEntered in the FROM part but I don't know where it should go here.Thanks for any assistance.Scott

Rendering Without Parameter Values Supplied Give Error

Dec 21, 2005

Hi

I hope someone can help me out here.  I'm quite new to RS so perhaps this is just me not knowing something obvious.

I have a report with several parameters, most of which have values the user can select from a list, supplied by a query.  Some of these lists are filtered depending on the value of other parameters.  (Eg One list has all customers, one list has all orders.  If I select a customer, the order list changes to only contain orders for the selected customer.)  Some of the parameters are just float or date values that do not rely on any other parameters being selected first (eg OrderDate).  Some parameters have default values and some do not.

When I first go into the report in Report Manager it is fine and does not automatically render - as not all parameters have values supplied.

The problem is that as soon as I select a parameter value from the list when that value is part of the query for another parameters values, the report renders automatically - without some of the other parameters being supplied yet - and consequently errors with the rsReportParameterTypeMismatch error.  (Eg I select a customer and the report renders before I can enter the OrderDate parameter.)

How can I stop the report automatically rendering before I have entered/selected values for all the parameters?

Thanks, Phaedra

Transact SQL :: Get Row If All Column Values Match

Nov 10, 2015

Please don’t look for table design satisfies NF, this is just for example

Student table
Id            StudentId
1                    10
2                    20
3                    30

Student_Class
Id            ClassId
1              100
1              101
1              102
1              103
2              100
2              101

When I give studentId 10 and class ids = 100, 101, 102, 103 then result should be get row from student table only if all given class ids matched.

Result:
Id            Student ID          ClassId
1              10                          100, 101, 102, 103

Case 2: Student Id: 10    class Ids = 100, 101 the no results since all the class ids for student 10 in Student_Class are not matching with the given class Ids parameter.

Uploading Column Definitions From The Flat File Connection Manager Editor Into A Table Definition

Apr 3, 2008

Hi,

Is there a way of uploading column definitions from the Flat File Connection Manager into a SQL Server table definition. Since I have over a dozen data sources to process each with around 200 columns and of course like many BI techies I have little immediate influence over the structure of these flat files. I just know that these data sources are business critical.

Judging by looking at similar threads I can't be the only one who would greatly benefit from being able to upload column definitions from the Flat File Connection Manager into a SQL Server table definition as opposed to doing this manually.

Thanks in advance,

Kieran.

I have an Access database, that is in connection with sql server.
On my computer with access2007 i have no problems with viewing tables and stuff.

But on other computers with access2003 it gives an error when i use this query:

INSERT INTO [tbl_sap-staffel] ( ItemCode, CardCode, [Amount-0], [Price-0], [Amount-1], [Price-1], [Amount-2], [Price-2] )
SELECT [qry_sap-spp-0].ItemCode, [qry_sap-spp-0].CardCode, [qry_sap-spp-0].Amount, [qry_sap-spp-0].Price, [qry_sap-spp-1].Amount, [qry_sap-spp-1].Price, [qry_sap-spp-2].Amount, [qry_sap-spp-2].Price

Mar 17, 2004

Hi Guys,

I have a program that connects to SQLServer 2000 through ADO connection.

the program executes the following query:

SELECT ax.AccNo,
(SELECT Accounts.ProductCode FROM Accounts WHERE h.ID=Accounts.ID) As Product
FROM dbo.History h LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.AccXRef ax ON h.ID= ax.ID LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.States ON h.[HistoryItemsub-Type] = dbo.States.Type LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.CustXRef cx ON h.CustomerNo = cx.CustomerNo
WHERE HistoryItemDate <= getdate() ORDER BY HistoryItemDate ASC

This query works in th program and in Query Analyer on my machine.
However, On a different Machine (and different SQLServer) the query works in Query Analyser but does not work in the program, the following exception is thrown:

The column prefix 'h' does not match with a table name or alias name used in the query

Any help is greatly appreciated..

Correlated Subquery - Column Prefix 'OJ' Does Not Match With A Table Name Or Alias Name Used In The Query.

Feb 2, 2007

I have data in a table (@Outer) that I am matching to a lookup table (@Inner) which contains multiple "matches" where nulls can match any value. By sorting the inner table and grabbing the top record, I find the "best" match. I know the sort and the null matches work but I don't understand why the correlated sub query below doesn't understand that the OJ prefix refers to the outer table.DECLARE @Outer TABLE (
OuterID int IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL,
MethodID int NULL,
CompID int NULL,
FormID int NULL,
InnerID int NULL
)

INSERT @Outer VALUES (2, 2, 2, NULL) -- OuterID = 1
INSERT @Outer VALUES (3, 2, 1, NULL) -- OuterID = 2

DECLARE @Inner TABLE (
InnerID int IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL,
MethodID int NULL,
CompID int NULL,
FormID int NULL
)

INSERT @Inner VALUES (2, null, null) -- InnerID 1
INSERT @Inner VALUES (2, null, 1) -- InnerID 2
INSERT @Inner VALUES (2, 2, null) -- InnerID 3

INSERT @Inner VALUES (3, null, null) -- InnerID 4
INSERT @Inner VALUES (3, 2, null) -- InnerID 5

INSERT @Inner VALUES (4, 2, 1) -- InnerID 6

-- UPDATE Outer Table with best match from Inner table
UPDATE @Outer SET
InnerID = IJ.InnerID
FROM @Outer OJ
INNER JOIN
(
SELECT TOP 1 I.*
FROM @Inner I
WHERE IsNull(I.MethodID, OJ.MethodID) = OJ.MethodID
AND IsNull(I.CompID, OJ.CompID) = OJ.CompID
AND IsNull(I.FormID, OJ.FormID) = OJ.FormID
ORDER BY I.MethodID DESC, I.CompID DESC, I.FormID DESC
) IJ ON OJ.MethodID = IsNull(IJ.MethodID, OJ.MethodID)
AND OJ.CompID = IsNull(IJ.CompID, OJ.CompID)
AND OJ.FormID = IsNull(IJ.FormID, OJ.FormID) SELECT * FROM @Outer
The result should be OuterID 1 matched to Inner ID 3 and OuterID 2 matched to Inner ID 5.
Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

At start thought it's simple but now Im lost. Is there any chance to do it. Apreciate any help. I need to tell that I have only access to select on this database so no use of operation on tables.

Parameterized Query That Counts The Number Of Null Values In An Int32 Column

Jul 18, 2006

Using c# in the compact framework, is there a way to do a parameterized query for counting the number of records where a specified column is null. I tried all of these, but none of them work:

cmd.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlInt32.Null));
cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from TableName where IntColumn is not @IntColumn";

cmd.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", DBNull.Value));

cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from TableName where IntColumn is not @IntColumn";

cmd.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlInt32.Null));

cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from TableName where not IntColumn = @IntColumn";

cmd.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", DBNull.Value));

cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from TableName where not IntColumn = @IntColumn";

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlDbType.Int32));
cmd.Parameters["@IntColumn"].Value = SqlInt32.Null;
cmdGetNumRead.CommandText = "select count(*) from TableName where IntColumn is not @IntColumn";

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlDbType.Int32));

cmd.Parameters["@IntColumn"].Value = SqlInt32.Null;

cmdGetNumRead.CommandText = "select count(*) from TableName where not IntColumn = @IntColumn";

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlDbType.Int32));

cmd.Parameters["@IntColumn"].Value = DBNull.Value;

cmdGetNumRead.CommandText = "select count(*) from TableName where IntColumn is not @IntColumn";

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlDbType.Int32));

cmd.Parameters["@IntColumn"].Value = DBNull.Value;

cmdGetNumRead.CommandText = "select count(*) from TableName where not IntColumn = @IntColumn";

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlDbType.Variant));

cmd.Parameters["@IntColumn"].Value = SqlInt32.Null;
cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from Meter where IntColumn is not @IntColumn";

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlDbType.Variant));

cmd.Parameters["@IntColumn"].Value = SqlInt32.Null;

cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from Meter where not IntColumn = @IntColumn";

md.Parameters.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlDbType.Variant));

cmd.Parameters["@IntColumn"].Value = DBNull.Value;

cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from Meter where IntColumn is not @IntColumn";

cmd.Parameters.Add(new SqlCeParameter("@IntColumn", SqlDbType.Variant));

cmd.Parameters["@IntColumn"].Value = DBNull.Value;

cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from Meter where not IntColumn = @IntColumn";

Whenever I use a "is not" in the query I get an exception, otherwise it returns a count of 0 which is not accurate. Any help will be appreciated.

Cascading Parameters With Values Supplied By Query

Feb 11, 2008

Hi,

I would like to set up cascading report parameters but need to supply the list of values in my dataset query as they are not being pulled from a table or stored procedure.

I would like to set up something like

select 'LS' Source
Union
select 'RH' Source
Union
select 'UK' Source

as the value list for my first parameter, then, I would like the second parameter to default to '1' if the first parameter has 'RH' or 'UK' selected but default to blank if the first parameter has 'LS' selected. I can get all to default to blank or 1 but can not seem to make it dependent.

thanks!

Martha

String Match Number Of Different Columns

Apr 24, 2008

Hi,

In short:
I want my following problem to work with a LIKE instead of exact match and if possible be faster. (currently 4s)

Problem:
I got a set of rows with varchar(50), spread out over multiple tables.
All those tables relate to a central Colour table.
For each of the columns, I want to match the values with a set of strings I insert and then return a set of Colour.Id

E.g: input: 'BLACK', 'MERCEDES', '1984'
Would return colour ids "025864", 45987632", "65489" and "63249"
Because they have a colour name containing 'BLACK' or are on a car from 'MERCEDES' or are used in '1984'.

Current Situation:
I) Create a table containing all possible values
CREATE TABLE dbo.CommonSearch(
id int IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL,
clr_id int,
keyWord varchar(40),
fieldType varchar(25)
And fill it with all the values (671694 rows)
)
II) Stored Procedure to cut a string up into a table:
CREATE FUNCTION dbo.SplitString
(
@param varchar(50),
@splitChar char = ''
)
RETURNS
@T TABLE (keyWord varchar(50))
AS
BEGIN
WHILE LEN( @param ) > 0 BEGIN
declare @val varchar(50)
IF CHARINDEX( @splitChar, @param ) > 0
SELECT @val = LEFT( @param, CHARINDEX( @splitChar, @param ) - 1 ) ,
@param = RIGHT( @param, LEN( @param ) - CHARINDEX( @splitChar, @param ) )
ELSE
SELECT @val = @param, @param = SPACE(0)
INSERT INTO @T values (@val)
END
RETURN
END
III)Stored Procedure to query the first table with the second one
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[GetCommonSearchResultForTabDelimitedStrings]
@keyWords varchar(255) = ''
AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON;
select clr_id, keyWord, fieldType
from dbo.commonSearch
where keyWord in (select * from splitString(@keyWords, ''))
END

So, how can I use a LIKE statement in the IN statement of the last query.
Furthermore, I was wondering if this is the best sollution to go for.
Are there any better methods? Got any tuning tips to squeeze out an extra second?

Insert Rows Based On Number Of Distinct Values In Another Table?

May 21, 2014

I have a table with PO#,Days_to_travel, and Days_warehouse fields. I take the distinct Days_in_warehouse values in the table and insert them into a temp table. I want a script that will insert all of the values in the Days_in_warehouse field from the temp table into the Days_in_warehouse_batch row in table 1 by PO# duplicating the PO records until all of the POs have a record per distinct value.

Example:

Temp table: (Contains only one field with all distinct values in table 1)
Days_in_warehouse
20
30
40

Table 1 :

PO# Days_to_travel Days_in_warehouse Days_in_warehouse_batch
1 10 20
2 5 30
3 7 40

Updated Table 1:

PO# Days_to_travel Days_in_warehouse Days_in_warehouse_batch
1 10 20 20
1 10 20 30
1 10 20 40
2 5 30 20
2 5 30 30
2 5 30 40
3 7 40 20
3 7 40 30
3 7 40 40

how can I update Table 1 to get desired results?

Query To Get Rows Which Match With All Given Values

Sep 10, 2007

Hi all,

I would like have your help about a query.
In fact, I have a query to retrieve the rows for specific ID.
Like that:

SELECT *
FROM TblUser u
WHERE EXISTS

(

SELECT *

FROM TblScore s

WHERE s.FKIDUser = PKIDUser

)

With this query, I retrieve all users for which ones there are some scores.
Now, I need to get only users with specific score.
In the table TblScore, there is a column ScoreValue.
This column contains a value between 1 and 15

I would like to retrieve the users having score equal to 2,4 and 6
I could add a where clause like that: "and scorevalue in (2,4,6)"
But I want only users having these and only these scores, not less, not more.

So if an user has the following scores: 2,4,6,8, I don't want to retrieve it
If an user has the following scores: 2;4, I don't want to retrieve it.
If an user has the following scores: 2,4,6, I want it.

Someboy would have an idea at my problem ?

Thanks in advance
Jerome
