I hope I am not asking about something that has been done before, but Ihave searched and cannot find an answer. What I am trying to do is torun a query, and then perform some logic on the rowcount and thenpossibly display the result of the query. I know it can be done withADO, but I need to do it in Query Analyzer. Specifically, I'm having an issue that I can't resolve using the database space utilization procedures recently submitted by Paul Matthews. The servers are appropriately linked and the procedures have been created on the required servers (mix of 7.0 and 2000 systems).
Executing the sp_dbspaceall procedure from query analyzer is successful but it fails when called from a SQL Agent job. It only returns the information of the local server in that instance.
The error message tells nothing of the problem and the logs show nothing at all about the incident. Can someone help me out?
I have a report in SQL Reporting Services 2005 which calls a stored proc and the report takes a very long time to run and sometimes returns zero records. But when i run the stored proc in query analyzer it takes about 4 seconds!!
I have checked the execution log on the RS using the below sql:

It shows that i have a large amount of time for the dataretrieval (601309ms, about 10mins) and does not return any records most likely because of a query timeout:
The weird thing is that when i run it in query analyzer, i get about 400 records in 4 seconds !!
I dont understand what RS is doing to take up so much time like this to retrieve data.
The report is very simple - it basically returns the records straight out into a table.
The only thing I somewhat suspected was a parameter data type conflict between RS and SQL, specifically dates. I have a start and end date parameter in the report - i tried specifying this as date and string to see if it made any difference but it didn't.
HelloIs there a way to use Goto or something like it in QA? I have a script witha few GO statements, as I'm sure you know, declared variables, labels, andgoto's only have scope within each GO block. I am running a parent SSIS package (running sp2, 9.0.3042) that calls several child packages.
On our development server, we now cannot run this because we get 1 or more of these errors:
"Error 0x80004003 while preparing to load the package. Invalid pointer . " "Error 0xC0011008 while preparing to load the package. Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored. . "
It is not occuring on the same packages. It varies every time it is run.
I can run every one of the child packages individually, using the same login ID that the parent is executed under.
The parent package works fine on my local machine and other servers running the same version of SSIS. Just not on this server.
I have the TAMCreate.sql file which contains the script to create all tables in the Database TAMaintenance. Its created and used in the SqlServer 2000. But i have only SqlServer 7. From the script i copy and paste each table and created upto 7 tables without any problem, when i create the 8th table i get the following error the code for the table

We have several databases but one is behaving differently in SQL Query Analyzer. Please assume we have selected the correct db in the the pull-down and assume database name is DB1 and table name is Table1
SELECT * FROM db1.[table1] works fine.
SELECT * FROM [table1] returns "Invalid Object Name Error".
This problem causes some complex queries not to work so I'd like to know if this db has some special setting that requires explicit db name in each query.
We have also tried.. use [db1] SELECT * FROM [table1]
It still gives the same error. Any help would be appreciated. Thansk

I have a DTS package which deletes some rows in a table and then inserts new ones from a Dbase file.
When I execute the package it works perfectly, but when I shedule it as a job it gives this error message:

The deleting of the rows works but the import from the Dbase doens't, I thought it was a security issue. So I made sure the JobAgent has all the rights it needs to access the directory of the Dbase file.
Hi i get a error when i run my SSIS package. Here is the message

The funny thing about this is when i run the job a 2nd time it works fine.

I have been through a group of related packages ironing out any problems. They ALL now run fine when called individually.
However, I am now having problems with the parent package that is used to string these all together. It will not even run the 1st package.
For info, the first task of this package is a "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task". I am copying a few tables with data, but WITHOUT indexes, etc.
Following this, there is an "Execute SQL Task" that creates an index on one of those copied tables.
To get past another issue I had to set the "CopySchema" property of the "Transfer..." task to true, but did not select any schemas to transfer.
Now, when running the PARENT package, it is failing at the 1st step of the 1st package as follows:

i have a similar task, only diffrent tables that being transfered, same settings. this task run succesfully. for the task that fails it takes a long time to run (something like half an hour, maybe more) and then it falils. the task that succeeds finish fast (something like 5 minutes). the data in the tables that being transeferred in the good task is much smaller than the data in the tables in the failed task.

I have package that I designed on 32 bit system. It was copied over to 64 bit server's directory (Production).
I am trying to execute that package using DtExec utility. My package has some parameters that I am trying to set on the command prompt using /SET option. Everything runs fine on 32 bit system (that is my dev box) but I get the following on 64 bit system (Production):

I can run it from Integration services Server, from BI, and I tried modifying the ProtectionLevel property to DontSaveSensitive and ServerStorage. I have other packages that run in jobs, and they work fine...but i donīt know what else to do....By the way, I'm using an administrator user to run the package.

I have a package that has a FOREACHLOOP container. Inside the container is a SCRIPT task that runs a stored procedure and writes the output of the sp to a file.
That part works fine.
However, if I add a second script task inside the FOREACHLOOP container, I get error messages when running the second script task.
The second script task is identical to the first script task, except for the connection information. That is, it's doing the same thing, but running the sp on another server.
I tried removing the second script task from the FOREACHLOOP container, and putting it in it's own FOREACHLOOP container, but it still gives the same error.
This is the error I'm receiving:

I created SSIS Package to transfer tables from one sql2005 DB to another sql2005 DB. When I execute the package from the BIDS it execute succesfully. However, when I import the package (file system) to the management studio - msdb - stored packages and run the package from there (right click: Run Package) I get this error:
the validate method on the task failed, and returned error code. the validate method must succeed and indicate the result using an out parameter.
This package which is a child package has been running successfully for quite some time now. All of a sudden we are getting these intermittant error messages. Does anyone have any ideas what to do or check for?

I am trying to execute an SSIS package from an MS Access 2003 database that imports a table from the Access database into a target table in SQL 2005. I saved the package in SQL 2005 and tested it out. If I run it from the Management Studio Console with Run->Execute ... everything works just fine. However, if I try to run it using "Exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell 'DTExec /SER DATAFORCE /DTS SQL2005TestPackage /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING V'" the execution will always fail when the Access database is open (shared mode). It will only work when the Access database is not open. The connection manager looks like this: "Data Source=E:Test.mdb;Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Persist Security Info=False;Jet OLEDB:Global Bulk Transactions=1". The error is listed below:

I have installed MS SQL Server 2005 and Service Pack 2 on a new Windows 32-bit environment. I also installed the 32-bit 10g client (the Administrator option). The tnsnames.ora file is configured properly and I can tnsping to the Oracle database without any issues. I have created a package in Visual Studio and it runs successfully when I execute the job manually. I have created the package and logged into the server with the same ID to set up the job. And I have set the ProtectionLevel property to "Don't Save Sensitive Data" since I know this has been an issue in the past when I tried automating the job. I created a SSIS package which will generate an output file and place it on a remote fileshare location which will look something like this

The package is executing fine when I am executing it through BIDS or through execute package utility and writing the output file to remote file share location.
