Installed SQL server 2000 as a SERVER in one machine and Client tools of SQL server 2000 in another machine as CLIENT.
Able to connect and view SERVER machine SQL SERVER 2000 database from CLIENT machine and it is working fine.
while trying to connect locally SQL Server 2000 in CLIENT machine itself,getting the Error "VNSAPI32.dll not found or Missing"
Not used Banyan VINES network, still getting
SQL server does not exist or Access denied "ConnectionOpen(Connect())"

I'm running W2K3 SP1. The MDAC Configuration Checker reports MDAC 2.8 SP2. The only discrepancy is MSADCO.DLL, where the expected version is 2.82.1830.0 and my actual version is 2.82.2651.0 (svr03_sp1_gdr.060301-1546).
The error message I'm getting when I use the ODBC Administrator dialog to set up a new entry is: "The setup routines for the SQL Server ODBC driver could not be found. Please reinstall the driver."
This is followed by a dialog titled: "Driver's ConfigDSN, ConfigDriver, or ConfigTranslator failed." The body text of the dialog is "Component not found in the registry."
Does anyone have any idea how I can repair this?

Cannot Open User Database Error Message AFTER I Connect And Log In.
Aug 29, 2006Ok so I'm using the Management Studio Express and was able to log in and get into the database server, but I had to click the "options>>" button and change database I wanted to connect to from <<default>> to my database on the server or else I get the "cannot open user database, login failed" error message.Then I right click my database and it gives me the "Cannot open user database. Login failed" error message, even though I already connected to the database to login during the connect screen. Also I'm able to interact with the database using SQL QUERIES in the Management Studio, like adding new tables with it, but if I right click the database and click "add table" I get that error.What gives? I know I have permission since I was able to log on, and modify the database using SQL queries but if use the GUI I can't use it. I can't even right-click select "properties" without getting that error. The reason I want to use the GUI is because I want to right click and use the backup feature of the database.My guess is that Management Studio continues to point to the default database(which gives me that message) after I already logged in, so I have no idea how to change the default database that management studio points to, to the one I do have permission to use. A list of all built-in reports have been populated under Monitoring>Reports but when I click on them I get the results shown in the screen shot attached. Below is the error I get when I try to open any report from my IE browser. I have confirmed SSRS is running on my SQL server. I actually had to start it in order to get the list of reports to populate becasue it was stopped. An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot impersonate user for data source 'AutoGen__5C6358F2_4BB6_4a1b_A16E_8D96795D8602_'. (rsErrorIm personatingUser) Log on failed. Ensure the user name and password are correct.

Mar 20, 2008I installed SQL 2005 including backward compatibility, MSDN libraries and SP2 a new Windows 2003 server (chose mixed mode authentication). Installation was successful and I then installed an off the shelf database with Windows authentication which also installed successfully.
I created a new group in AD, added the database users into the group and gave db-owner rights to the group in SQL as advised by the installation guide. However, when I try to open the database it gives an error message saying "Cannot open database.[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).] SQL server does not exist or access denied". I also tested it adding an individual user (myself) as a user to no avail.
When I set up DSN in ODBC on my computer I can successfully test the connection but can't run the application. The connection is via TCP/IP.
Any suggestions?

May 1, 2007I've got a package which reads a text file into a table and updates another. I set up configurations so that I could import it into the SSIS store on both my dev and live servers. Now, I'm getting this error. I tried removing the configs and am still getting it.
I've been through each step and everything looks okay. Does anyone have any idea (a) what's wrong, (b) how to localise the error or (c) get any additional information? Or do I just have to recreate the package from scratch?

I have recently installed a new server for a client running SBS2003 R2 with SQLServer 2005.
I noted that the backup failed the SQL Server database on the consistenty check. On checking the event log I see this message as per above.
It reads in the description

Looking in the error log I see :

I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:

I am using windows 2003 server and i have installed SSAS 2005 and configured http request for AS 2005 with this below url : http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/httpasws.mspx. I had tried all the possiblities given in this url. But i am getting like "Test connection failed because of error initializing provider. The HTTP Server returned the following error : Not found" when i create udl file. Moreover i have installed MSOLAP 3.0 and OLAP 9.0 provider and MSXML 6.0 Parser.
Can you anyone please provide solution for this?

I am stuck with error: An error occurred while receiving data: '64(error not found)'.
My Service Broker configuration:
Server A initiator,
Server B target.
Server A sends message to Server B, Server B sends back reply.
On this stage I receive problem. Server B message does not come to server A.
It stays on sys.transmission_queue on server B.
This problem occurs only during initial setup. During initial setup, on Server B messages, queues, services, contracts, routes, bindings are created. On Server A: routes and bindings. As a last step, a message is sent to Server B.
So, reply on this message never comes. Initial setup is run using procedure with execute as €˜owner€™, owner=€™dbo€™.
But, whenever I send messages after that, everything works fine.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I have set up SB between 2 databases, and I keep geting a variety of error messages in the queue on both sides. The first is:
An error occurred while receiving data: '10054(error not found)'.
And on the other side its
Service Broker received an error message on this conversation. Service Broker will not transmit the message; it will be held until the application ends the conversation.
The only difference between this and the tutorials is that the TCP port have been moved to 4321 instead of 4022, and this has been done both sides, because something else was blocking the 4022 port. This one is definately free on both sides. I have recreated the certificates, the users, the end points, the queues and the services multiple times, and checked them all in the sys.routes etc and they all seem fine.
I do also get a message in the queue that I can receive sometimes that tells me I don't have rights to the service on the other machine. I can send a message to itself and it doesn't complain.
Both machines are on the same domain, and I have also tried to grant rights to public to no avail.

Aug 18, 2006I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:
[XML Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "There are multiple root elements. Line 5, position 2.".
The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:

Aug 23, 2007We are using Service Broker to synchronise two databases using async triggers (using a middle server to preform data mapping processing). We are re-using dialogs as we want to ensure order when sending messages which contain the data to be synced. A dialog is created between each intiator and target service (there are 3 of each) which is kept open indefinately (we are only ending conversation upon receiving an end conversation message or error message).
We seem to get it working for a period then after about 1 hour it seems to stop sending and we see the following error in SQL Profiler:
An error occurred while receiving data: '64(error not found)'
Any ideas what could be causing this? We do not see any errors or end conversations. It seems to happen at irregular points.

we have a active/passive cluster server with SQL server 2005 SP2 installed.
i have found the following error messages in event viewer application log for MSSQLServer:
1) [sqsrvres] CheckQueryProcessorAlive: sqlexecdirect failed.
2) [sqsrvres] printODBCError: sqlstate = 08S01; native error = 2746; message = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]TCP Provider: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
3) [sqsrvres] printODBCError: sqlstate = 08S01; native error = 2746; message = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Communication link failure
4) [sqsrvres] OnlineThread: QP is not online.

Oct 19, 2007when i try to execute the package i keep getting an error like below even though all the connections in the connection manager is working fine.. how can I resolve thsi problem?
