Feb 19, 2007
Hello,
I have installed sql server 2005 along with reporting services... though i am able to design report using business intelligence studio... i am unable to access the report server.... while trying to start the reporting services configuration manager it says no report server found on the specified machine...Invalid Namespace... the installation is local ...
Due to this problem inspite of designing the entire report i am unable to deploy it on the web..since it is asking for a report server...
Can somebody please help me on this...
Thanks in advance...

Hi There,
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
Thanks.

Hello Everyone,
I have installed SQL Server 2005 with Reporting Services on Windows Server 2003. I can run through reporting services configuration and completed all the required steps to initialize it. I can access the reports through //localhost/reportserver and I can also access the reports through Microsoft CRM. But I cannot access the Report Manager (//localhost/reports). I get this Error:

Error: "no report servers were found on the specified machine"
I get this error when launching the Reporting Services Configuration Manager...I've never seen this error, usually it can talk to my local servername but unfortunately it's not. This is a new test server and the first time I've come across this message after setting up Reporting services on 2 machines sucessfully in the past.

This error comes when I try to view either http://localhost/Reports or http://localhost/reportserver
Any suggestions?

I have a report with a subscription enabled and the default values that are selected for the report frequently change. I have our report server locked down so that the users can't change the defaults, but I now want to empower them to maintain this on their own. Here is my dilemma. When you have the available parameters set up to pull from a query, the defaults on the report server have to be keyed in manually, which is not an option. The only way to get a check box there, is to explicitly specify the available values.I need my available values to be database driven and I need to be able to select my defaults on the report server using check boxes.

I have written a report visual studio. The report has 10 multi-value parameters that pull data from their individual data sets within the reports. When running the report from within Visual Studio it renders fine. There are no errors reported, only a warning related to a pathname I have use to retrieve image data and display on the report.Deployment of the report is error free. When I view the report I briefly get the "Loading" splash window, but then nothing. None of the headers or static text is displayed. The results window is blank.
The report defaults all the parameter values. In trying to debug the issue I have found by reducing the number of parameter values the report will render. Once I have all the values added, the report does nothing.Below is the query being used for the report. The where clause in the query shows the parameters being used and the syntax. We are running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.

I have few reports under different folders in Report Manager. Is there a way to set the data source for the whole folder rather than each report individually? There is also a folder where reports generate dynamically. Since the report project doesn't exist anymore, I can't set the data source through code. How can I set the data source for the whole folder?

We are trying to set up Web Synchronization, but we keep getting the error "IIS ws not found on the web server. Please specify a computer name that has IIS installed".
Our Distributor/Publisher are on one box, IIS on aother box. Both boxes are in the same domain (test environment), and both boxes are being logged into with a domain account.
We can get this to work in another similar environment so we don't know why this one isn't working. Is it permission issues?
Thanks...

Hi
I'm getting a blank Report Manager Page or a recurring username popup for users from another domain added to Reporting Services. Adding the users to the Local Administrators group on the Reporting Services server solves the problem but for security reasons this obviously is not ideal.
I've tried adding a Global Group from the other domain to a local group on the RS server and adding the local group to RS as a role.
I've tried adding the Global Group from the other domain as a role.
I've tried adding individual users from the other domain to RS
I've tried adding the Domain Users group from the other domain to the Local Users Group on the RS Server.
What am I missing? It should be as simple as "click, click, add group and like magic, it works"
Thanks in advance

I came across a SQL 2000 instance with a report server database on it - looking at the execution log storage I can see that its still being used and running the following query tells me that the connections are coming from the same server: SELECT hostname, * FROM sysprocesses WHERE dbid = DB_ID ('ReportServer') but I cant find the SSRS instance in the services -Did it work differently with SQL 2000? How can I find the report manager URL?

Hello,I'm having some problems using the Report Manager, but I *really* needto make a role assignment now. Can't wait to have the problem withReport Manager solved. So, I would like to make this role assignment directly in theReportServer database, using the SP SetPolicy or some other SP.I'm looking for the equivalent of making the "New Role Assignment" andthenGroup or user name: EveryoneRole "Browser" checkedOKCan anyone tell me exactly how to do this? Thanks in advance,Filipe HenriquesPS: By the way, the problem I've got using the Report Manager is thatalways appear "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.",although I can see perfectly the Report Server page.Does anyone knows what's the problem?

Since migrating Reporting Services from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008, the Last Run date, visible on the Details view of reports in a folder under Report Manager, has been blank. I would hope that this is supposed to be populated and equivalent to the "When Run" date visible in the 2005 version of Report Manager. Any setting that needs to be configured in order for this to show, or if this has been reported as a bug?

I am able to preview my report in Microsoft Visual Studio with a chart embedded at the top of the report. However after uploading the report to Report Manager, the chart is blank. How can I get the chart to be visible in Report Manager? I am using SQL Server 2012 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine. I can see the chart if I edit the report in Report Building in the print layout mode. I can also see the chart in my Microsoft Visual Studio Project.

SSEE is up an working. Reporting Services is installed and now somewhat operational.
When I go to localhost/reports all I get is the following:
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
When I go to localhost/reportserver I get:
test2k/ReportServer - /
Monday, July 16, 2007 7:03 AM <dir> Data Sources
Monday, July 16, 2007 7:02 AM <dir> Report Project2
Monday, July 16, 2007 9:13 AM <dir> Reports
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 9.00.3042.00
I've tried many different settings in configuration but never get Report Manager.
I'm running W2K pro (a clean install with all sp's).
I can view those reports at localhost/reportserver but this is not the interface I want.
Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I'm new to SSRS. I've installed SQL Server 2014 on my Windows 7 machine and logged in web interface at localhost/Reports, created data source with ODBC driver connecting to my PostgreSQL database, I've selected "Credentials stored securely in the report server" and provided login and password. Now I wanted to create some test report. So I clicked on Report Builder which launched a desktop application (not ideal I must say) where I tried to click through a wizard to create some report.
I tried table wizard, selected "Create a dataset" and selected my data source. It asked me to provide password again and then I got following error:
ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
Even though test connection works just fine, even from that very same window.
So my questions are:
How do I fix that issue so I could create reports using SSRS and my PostgreSQL database? How do I embed the user/password into connection so users don't have to re-enter the password? The reason is, I want to create data source through SSRS API from my own application and I don't want to have users be bothered with passwords
Just to clarify - I tried creating ODBC data source through admin tools in Control pannel and gave it the same name but it didn't work, both SQL Server and PostgreSQL are installed on the same machine.

I have located the Server where Reporting Services has been installed and I believe I have found the Report Server Database. Is there any way from the Report Server Tables that I can try and figure out where the Report Manager URL might be?

Hi,
I am trying to place text boxes in the header of a matrix in order to give each row group(i.e. each drill-down area in my matrix a header). This can be done in Reporting Services 2005.
However when I deploy this report to the corresponding url(Report Manager) it seems to be losing its formatting and not displaying correctly. The textboxes placed in the matrix header seem to go all over the place.
I do get a warning when I deploy the report ->
[rsOverlappingReportItems]. Some renderers do not support overlapping report items.
How can this be rectified?

I have a On_hand_Quantity report which has a parameter drop down to select about 200 stores.
When i run this report in BI studio , selecting all the 200 stores for the parameter it works fine.
But when i upload the same report to report manager and try selecting all the store_numbers it errors out saying 'operation cannot run due to current state of the object ' This report was running fine since the past 2 years, on 30th dec we did some .NET updates (KB2656356 and KB2656351) after which this report stopped working.
I tried troubleshooting all ways but it errors out only in report manager.

For a week now, I have been reading every fix I can find for the infamous Reporting Services error(s) and none of the fixes have worked for me. I have checked permissions and memberships of the reporting services groups, removed xmlns as mentioned, made sure that the Classic App Pool was being used, started, stopped, reinstalled, made sure the RSWebApplication.config had the URL or not, either way nothing is working for me.
Is there some place where all of the various fixes are consolidated? Can anyone help me? I'm dying over here. It worked on a previous image and I rebuilt it and can't get it to work. I have SQL 2005 sp2 on Vista...all of the IIS requirements are met and the RS configuration utility reports that everything is fine.
Thanks,
Eric

Installed SQL Server 2008 with Reporting Services to a Windows Server 2008 box. Tried to open the Report Manager and had no tabs and no Site Settings link - just a blank home page. I am logged onto the server with local administrator rights, so it shouldn't be a permissions issue.
Thinking the installation was bad (IIS was not installed before installing SSRS), I uninstalled and re-installed SSRS after setting up IIS 7 on the server. Still the same issue - just a blank home page in report manager with no ability to add users or assign roles or see anything except the links for "Home", "My Subscriptions", and "Help".

I have a report in SSRS2012. It was copied from SSRS2005 quite recently, as we have upgraded. The SQL developer said that it didn't need any code changes, as he had some kind of tool to test code problems between the two versions. The report has a table, with 5 row groups, and one detail row. The table is setup as follows:
Name Sales Costs Profit
Group1
Group2
Group3
Group4
Group5
DetailsRow
When I run this report using the Report Manager website from SSRS2005, and then export to Excel 2013, I get the 6 row groups in Excel, no problem whatsoever. I can drill into each group in Excel, using the group drilldown column on the left hand side. This works the same as the Report Manager website.
If I run the exact same report from the Report Manager website in SSRS2012, the Report Manager result is the same as SSRS2005 - all the row groups are present, and the drilldown works fine. However, the export to Excel has issues with the groups. There are only 3 row groups showing in Excel, along with a column group added for no apparent reason.
Drilling into each group shows inconsistent details, and there is no apparent logic as to what is shown within each group. I should also mention, that this issue with groups is seen on all my reports which have groups, not just this report.

I just installed Sql Server Reporting Services 2005 on a Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 server. I configured Reporting Services through the Reporting Services Configuration tool and everything has a green checkmark.
I'm trying to connect to the webservice, but keep getting 404 not found errors. I've tried putting the following into a web browser and all return a 404 error:
http://msql01/reports/
http://msql01/reportserver/
http://msql01/reportserver/reportservice.asmx?wsdl
http://msql01/reportserver/reportservice2005.asmx?wsdl
I've tried edting the RSWebApplication.config file using the following configurations (restarting IIS afterwards) without any luck:
<UI>
<ReportServerUrl></ReportServerUrl>
<ReportServerVirtualDirectory>ReportServer</ReportServerVirtualDirectory>
<ReportBuilderTrustLevel>FullTrust</ReportBuilderTrustLevel>
</UI>
and
<UI>
<ReportServerUrl>http://msql01/ReportServer/</ReportServerUrl>
<ReportServerVirtualDirectory></ReportServerVirtualDirectory>
<ReportBuilderTrustLevel>FullTrust</ReportBuilderTrustLevel>
</UI>
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Rob

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to Reporting Services so please forgive my ignorance...
I've recently installed SQL Server Express 2005 with Reporting Services on my Vista Business Notebook (with no network connections) and have installed VS C# Express as well as the Business Intelligence Studio to create reports.
My C# application can connect to SQL Server fine, however, the reports I created with Business Studio refuses to deploy to the server due to the following reason:
"The permissions granted to user 'localhostJenny' are insufficient for
performing this operation".
I find this odd as I've been able to deploy reports on my other Windows XP machine (with SQL Server Express) no probs at all. Additionally, I cannot see the 'Site settings' link within Report Manager (Web) that I'd normally get with an admin account (i.e. on my Win. XP machine). Various sources indicate that my account has insufficient access rights to view this.
Having browsed through seemingly endless blogs and forums, I suspect that my local account has not been configured to access the Report Manager web client to publish, manage and administer the site.
I have tried the surface area tool for SQL Server, but I suspect that this is relevant only to SQL Server DB access and management. Adding an administrator here does nothing.
The question is, how can I grant access to myself (local account) to allow me to publish reports via business studio, and at the same time - administer Report Manager Site Settings - on my vista notebook??
I would be extremely grateful for any help on this matter - I've tried ceaseless reinstallations, but to no avail!
Many thanks in advance,
Jenny
