I want to run a DTS using the DTSRUN command.
The commmand is inside a ".bat" file which my application is running
from an SQL client.
No matter how I run it from the client it fails giving me the message:
[ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied
I've tried to run it from the client from the application, from the
command prompt and it fails.
I went into enterprise on the client and tried to run the DTS from
there. The run failed already on the 1st step which is a call to a
stored procedure, also giving me the same message. This really stuck me
as wierd because in enterprise I'm accessing the server successfully so
why the above messgae. It identifies the server and I am accessing it.
Because it failed on the 1st step which is a call to a stored procedure
I tried running the sp from within query analyzer and it succeeded.
Has anyone got any idea what the problem is and ghow to solve it.
Hi, I am trying to run dtsrun command as a sheduled job and the user who executes that job is "sa".I am trying to import data from a Non-Secured Network to a Secured Network only port 1433 is opened.
The problem is that dtsrun is a OS based command and that runs in the context of the service which started the sql service and which is a RPC request. I need to run a certain dts package at a sceduled intervals and i need a work around other than dtsrun..how can i do the same
Error string: Error opening datafile: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. Error source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services Flat File Rowset Provider Help file: DTSFFile.hlp Help context: 0 ".
The same package is getting executed properly when I run it from my client through DTSRUN from the command prompt.
I need to execute a dts package from a stored procedure. I can call up the command prompt, enter the dts command, and it executes perfectly. Here is what I am attempting to do from the stored procecure:
I have small problem with the ADO 2.6 - 2.8 Command object.
I created a Stored procedure preforming some tasks within a tran.
whitin the tran i'm collecting the @@ERROR values and in the end (after tran closing )generating the correct error string - which will be send back to the caller
in the VB6 app, i'm using a command object with the next line:
Set MyRecordset= MyCommand.Execute
In all the cases and option, when i run the SP - the command preform the tasks and return closed recordset (with the currect answer) and i can't read it.
the only solution that worked until now: i need to call MyRecordset.Open which will requery the SP again and generate an error (User defined error).
It happens only when i run command.execute with SP that preforms multitasks and return result recordset.
I have a dts that works from the command prompt, but hangs in Query Analyzer. Here's the code inside Query Analyzer:exec master..xp_cmdshell 'dtsrun /S BFHSQL4 /N vhl_dts_14144b /E'From the command prompt, it's just:dtsrun /S BFHSQL4 /N vhl_dts_14144b /EAny ideas what's wrong? Thanks for your help!
I have created a very simple DTS package to transfer data from one database to another on the same server. I am able to successfully execute the package from DTS. But if i try to schedule the package and run it from SQL agent it fails. The job that is created by the SQL agent appears as follows -
Hello! Here's a problem I'm having with user's laptop. I installed SQL Server 7.0 client tools long time ago so she was able to use dtsrun utility. Recently we moved our production database to the new server. The difference between new server and old one is SP. The old server had SP1 for MSSQL Server 7.0 and new server has SP2.
The DTS packages were copied from old server to new one and recreated accordingly.
Then when user was trying to run dtsrun utility she was getting error "Parameter is incorrect". Then I applied SP2 to her SQL installation. After that we've got different error message "Can not create COM server to load DTS package. Class not registered".
I tried to register following files dtsffile.dll,dtspkg.dll,dtspump.dll,axscphst.dll using regsvr32 but I coudn't-I was getting errors.
Then I reinstall SQL client tools and applied SP2 again-still same error about COM server.
Any ideas what else can be done or changed to fix it? Thank you
P.S.this user has another computer. Applying SP2 to her SQL client installation fixed "Incorrect parameter" error and dtsrun works fine on this machine.
Thanks for any help on this matter in advance. I have a DTS Package that when I run from within the MMC it runs fine but when I schedule the job from the DTS design window or create a new job via SQL Agent and use dtsrun.exe with the correct parameters I get the following error:
Dts Owner is sa Sa is also listed as owner for the job. I tried changing the provider to ODBC for SQL Server since error message indicated a provider error and that did not work. I searched Technet for 4001, provider error, dtsrun and got nothing relative. It would seem like a rights issue but SQL Agent Logs on as a local administrator for the SQL box which is also the PDC.
MSSQL Server 7.0 SP2 One of my users is running DTS packages on her computer using dtsrun utility. I installed SQL client tools so she can run dtsrun utility. It was working fine until we moved production database to the new server. Local DTS packages were saved to the new server and recreated accordingly.
Now when she is running DTS packages in MSDOS using dtsrun she's getting error message "Can not create COM server to load DTS package. Class not registered".
Before this message she was getting different error "Paremeter is incorrect" Then I applied SP2 to her client sql tools.Because new SQL Server has SP2. After that we've got new message about COM server.
When user executing dtsrun command he is getting error message "Login failed domain name/user account". What should be done in order to fix it. I know it's a permission issue. DTS packages are saved as local packages on the server.
Getting this message when running a dtsrun step in a scheduled job;
DTSRun: Loading... DTSRun: Executing... Error: -2147220499 (800403ED); Provider Error: 0 (0) Error string: No Steps have been defined for the transformation Package. This just started today.. These jobs have been running for months with no problems.
I have a dts package scheduled to run hourly as job since recent November. (Win2000 server, MSSQL2000 standard) Its been running fine, except last few days, SQL Agent shows it attempted to run it but fails Checking the history for the job i got this error message each time: ================================================== ====== DTSRun: Executing... DTSRun OnStart: DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_2 DTSRun OnError: DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_2, Error = -2147467259 (80004005) Error string: Error creating datafile mapping: The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid. The key information i think would be these few lines: Error creating datafile mapping: The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.
I don't think its SQL Agent as its scheduling is running other jobs fine(backup) The DTS package runs fine manually. Such i suspect dtsrun.exe itself. But where do i go from here?
I am running SQL7 SP2 on a Compaq Proliant 5500 (NT4 Server SP6a) with dual processor. When trying to schedule any jobs with DTSRUN I get the following error:
DTSRun.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x77f64d7b" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be read.
Hi,I've got this dts package in sql server 2000 sp4 that has severaltransformation tasks with an oracle database (10g) as the destination.The package executes successfully when run through the dts designer butwhen run using dtsrun, I get the following error at the completion ofall tasks in the dts package. The data inserts into the oracle databasebut i always get this Application errorThe Instruction at "0x7c8327f9" referenced memory at "Oxffffffff". Thememory could not be "read"Does anyone know how I can fix this?ThanksLyn
i am using a OLE DB Source in my dataflow component and want to select rows from the source based on the Name I enter during execution time. I have created two variables,
enterName - String packageLevel (will store the name I enter)
myVar - String packageLevel. (to store the query)
I am assigning this query to the myVar variable, "Select * from db.Users where (UsrName = " + @[User::enterName] + " )"
Now in the OLE Db source, I have selected as Sql Command from Variable, and I am getting the variable, enterName,. I select that and when I click on OK am getting this error.
Error at Data Flow Task [OLE DB Source [1]]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E0C. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E0C Description: "Command text was not set for the command object.".
Can Someone guide me whr am going wrong?
myVar variable, i have set the ExecuteAsExpression Property to true too.
I have a requirment, when a user logs in to the pc, I want to run some SQL scripts which is been saved as a stored procedure on another pc. Could this be possible. I know in oracle you could do it using SQLLDR. Is there any way to do it in SQL? Please advice. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have created linked servers and successfully run the following stored procedure.
exec [db-2001server].sales..sp_test
Can anyone give me the exact syntax for running the same from command promt(without using the query analyzer).I am new to isql/osql.So,please help me with the syntax. Thanks!!
I currently have a problem where I need to create a backup from MSSQL, via a command line, ideally from a batch script. This is on a PC. Each machine has SQL Server 2000 on.
I just need to know the code that dos will tell it to run the sql statement. Ideally the command will also give the directory to place the backup.
I have created several DTS Packages those are working fine, tested and verified. I need to run them by a single click, either by batchfile or some sort of command.
I am debugging an app which blocks many processes in a SQL7 server DB.The app log writes every transaction "open" and "close".The weird thing is : when the app logfile says the transaction isdropped (object closed) the db keeps showing the process "running", ina sleeping mode, with open_tran in 2 or even 3 and in an awaitingcommand status.We are working on NT4.0, SP6a (all fixes up to date, MDAC 2.7SP1) onIIS side, an equal box for MTS (same patches and updates) and a SQLServer 7 (on NT4, same fixes ans SPs) database on another box.Is this normal? Those sleeping processes are blocking other apps andeverything gets slow and messy....the only solution is to kill thoseblocking processes.Thanks!
I'm trying to run have SQL Server Agent excute an SSIS package from the command line and I keep recieving an error message. I will assume that I have miss typed something. Can someone validate that the execute line looks workable?
Hi. I am writing a program in C# to migrate data from a Foxpro database to an SQL Server 2005 Express database. The package is being created programmatically. I am creating a separate data flow for each Foxpro table. It seems to be doing it ok but I am getting the following error message at the package validation stage:
Description: An OLE DB Error has occured. Error code: 0x80040E0C.
An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E0C Description: "Command text was not set for the command object".
.........
Description: "component "OLE DB Destination" (22)" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_ISBROKEN".
This is the first time I am writing such code and I there must be something I am not doing correct but can't seem to figure it out. Any help will be highly appreciated. My code is as below:
private bool BuildPackage()
{
// Create the package object
oPackage = new Package();
// Create connections for the Foxpro and SQL Server data
MessageBox.Show("The DTS package was not built successfully because of the following error(s):" + sErrorMessage, "Package Builder", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information);
My table has a running number primary key. I want to insert data to this table and automatically generate running number pk. I try to write SQL command like this. SELECT MAX(ID) AS MaxId from test INSERT INTO test (ID, data1, data2, data3) VALUES (MaxId+1, @data1, @data2, @data3) but it fails. How should I do? Thank you in advance
I need to start a job task from the command line. Does anyone know of the correct command(s) to do this?
I also need to check to see if a specific job task is currently executing from the command line. Does anyone know of the correct command(s) to do this?
For reasons beyond the scope of my question, is there a way to run this command within a Stored Procedure from a low privileged user login? I can grant the entity "db_ddladmin" privilege and the proc runs, but I'd rather not give out that level of permission to what is basically a glorified web access login.
Hi,I have dumped a very large database from mysql (using mysqldump program)as a raw sql file. The reason was, convert this database to a MSSQLdatabase. Since mysqldump creates the file as raw sql file with thedatabase-table structures and the data in it, I thought using OSQL commandline utilities should work to out this whole database in MSSQL server.I have run this command from command line:osql -u sa -i mysqldump.sqlIt is going since yesterday. It has been almost 36 hours that it'sstarted. And in the mssql server, I see no database created yet. On thescreen of the command line, I see bunch of numbers are going in order. Iassume they are row numbers of the tables processed. But, if it is doing it,then where is it saving all this data ? I have checked the tempdb, pub db,other dbs, and I see no tables related to the database I am inserting. Willit populate it at the and of the job ? Or, am I doing something wrong here?Regards.Murtix.
I have created ssis package. It has been successfully running at UI level.
But when i am trying to execute it from the command prompt by using dtexec utility it is showing the following error messages.
