How To Allow Use To Exec Xp_sendmail

Sep 20, 2004

I have a stored proc that assigns a value to a field based on user input from an Access front end.

The last part of the stored proc sends an email if certain conditions are met.

It appears that users do not have permission to execute xp_sendmail. I guess this is because it is executed on the master database. Is there a way I can give them permission to this stored proc?

The users are getting this message:

EXECUTE permission denied on bject 'xp_sendmail', 'database master', owner 'dbo'.(#229)

Error With Execute DTS 2000 Package Task On 64-bit With 32-bit Exec

Dec 17, 2007

Hello all,

I am running a package on a 64-bit server using the 32-bit dtexec. It contains an embedded Execute DTS 2000 package. I deployed the package to the server using the sa account. I set up a SQL Agent job that runs under an account that should have complete admin privileges. The network guys tell me that Legacy components have been installed (although I believe that shouldn't be necessary because SSIS is installed). This is SQL Server 2005, SP2.

When I execute this job, I receive this error message:

Xp_sendmail And Outlook 2000

Feb 6, 2004

I'm sending data from a simple query using xp_sendmail and the @query variable to send via Outlook 2000. Everthing is fine data-wise, but the font of the data is wrong in the e-mail causing the columns of data to be justified all over the place.

I would like it to send in 'courier new' font to fix this problem, but SQL server defaults to use plain txt so the e-mail client receiving the information is not forced to use the font and uses its own default (which again throws the alignment out). I need to make it use the 'Rich Text' format to enforce this but SQL seems to bypass this when sending via sp_sendmail.

I know this is more an Outlook problem, but it is the way SQL 2000 uses it that is my issue here

thanks

Otain Error Details From A DTS Package Through T-SQL. Was(xp_sendmail On Script Error

Sep 4, 2007

SQL Server 2000

Good day all,

I've been asked to create a DTS package that will execute 2 other DTS packages (yeah, I know... personally I want to write a sp for it *shrug*) and send an e-mail out reporting a failure and failure details.

So I have a couple of questions for you;
How do I pick up the error number (and description?) from a failed DTS and pass it to my sendmail task?
Is it possible to send anything other than plain text e-mails?
Can I change the e-mail priority to "high"?

I appreciate any help you can offer me :)

Xp_sendmail Error 18009

Oct 29, 1999

SQL server agent and SQL both log on as the same user and use the same mail profile. SQL server agent sends mail beautifully. I can view the properties of the SQL Server Agent and SQL mail.

When I execute xp_sendmail it does not send a mail message. When I go to view the properties of SQL Mail or SQL Server Agent the Enterprise Manager locks up.

The application logs shows an error# 18009 with a severity of 18.

I reboot the machine and all is well. I still cannot use xp_sendmail

Xp_sendmail Error: Unknown Recipient...

Apr 27, 1999

Hi All,

I was testing SQL Mail and I kept getting Unknown Recipient error regardless of what type of user names I tried to put in, I'd appreciate it if any of you could help.

Server: NT 4.0 Server (SP4)
SQL Server: 6.5 (SP4)
Mail Client: Exchange (5.0)

Since my company doesn't have a designated mailbox for SQL Server, I set it up to use my personal mailbox and profile. I was able to get SQL Mail up and running but couldn't not figure out a correct user name to pass to xp_sendmail.

The usual format of our e-mail addresses is <last name><first name>@xxx.com so I tried '<last name><first name>', '<last name>, <first name>' (the same format shown in the Address Book)...etc. but none of those worked.

Am I missing something?

Xp_sendmail: Failed With Mail Error 0x80004005

Mar 6, 2008

After consulting with the Exchange Administrator, I was advise that there is a limit on file attachments. This explains why I get this message with large (>20MB) attachments.

With this additional information I need to compress my file using a compression tool like winzip or pkzip. My company uses the windows version of pkzip. However, I have downloaded an evaluation version of the PKzip command line version.

Can someone provide guidance how I can execute this utility within my sql procedure?

Execute SQL Task: Executing The Query Exec (?) Failed With The Following Error: Syntax Error Or Access Violation. Possible F

Jan 23, 2008

Hi,
I'm having an SSIS package which gives the following error when executed :

Error: 0xC002F210 at Create Linked Server, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "exec (?)" failed with the following error: "Syntax error or access violation". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.Task failed: Create Linked Server

The package has a single Execute SQL task with the properties listed below :

General Properties
Result Set : None

ConnectionType : OLEDB
Connection : Connected to a Local Database (DB1)
SQLSourceType : Direct Input
SQL Statement : exec(?)
IsQueryStorePro : False
BypassPrepare : False

Parameter Mapping Properties

variableName Direction DataType ParameterName

User::AddLinkSql Input Varchar 0

'AddLinkSql' is a global variable of package scope of type string with the value
Exec sp_AddLinkedServer 'Srv1','','SQLOLEDB.1',@DataSrc='localhost',@catalog ='DB1'

When I try to execute the Query task, it fails with the above error. Also, the above the sql statement cannot be parsed and gives error "The query failed to parse. Syntax or access violation"

I would like to add that the above package was migrated from DTS, where it runs without any error, eventhough
it gives the same parse error message.

I would appreciate if anybody can help me out of this issue by suggeting where the problem is.

Thanks in Advance.

Xp_sendmail: Failed With Mail Error 0x80040111 It Works Fine When You Do A Test From Enterprise Manager

Sep 12, 2007

Hello I am receiving the dreaded mail error listed above. I can send out a test E-mail from Enterprise Manager to operators, but I cannot run this Transact query:

EXEC master.dbo.xp_sendmail @RECIPIENTS = araz***@***.com(removed email address),
@SUBJECT = 'test'

I receive:
Server: Msg 18025, Level 16, State 1, Line 0
xp_sendmail: failed with mail error 0x80040111

I have stopped/restarted the SQL SERVER AGENT but haven't done much else as I haven't been able to.

Should it work through transact SQL if the test email works from Enterprise Manager?

This is SQL 2000 SP4 running on Win2K in the domain. Thank you.

EXEC And Error Handling

Sep 2, 2004

I am building a Bulk Insert statement dynamically passing in filename location, etc.

I have coded error handling via the @@ERROR. To test the error handling, I am forcing the file that is bulk inserted to be missing.

The statement is created in a declared variable, IE @SQL:

EXEC(@SQL)

IF @@ERROR <> 0

BEGIN
GOTO ErrorHandler
END

Since the file is missing it causes an error, and the Stored Procedure gives the

Server: Msg 4860, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Could not find the file etc.
and aborts aborts the whole stored proc at that point. In other words the error handling IF @@ERROR doesn't trap the error and send the process to the error handler routine.

Is there anyway to get the error back from the EXEC, or maybe something has to be set to trap the error because it is fatal? Because of the way the Bulk Insert statement is created dynamically, it appears you have to EXEC the statement once it is built (EXEC(@SQL)).

Any help would be appreciated.

SQL Exec Error Messages

I am trying to populate an SQL DB via ODBC. If this connection fails ie SQL server crashes, the data is then written to a local ACCESS table.

To do this I need to look at the SQLExec result code.

what are the error codes for comunication failure and duplicate record? They seem to be the same '307'

The duplicates need to be logged to another table so they are not lost.

Heres the code

IF SQLDBConnectError = 0 THEN //Log to SQL

WCSSQLDBConnectError = 1; !Force to Access logging
