I have created a package which forms data from flat file to sql database.I have a data flow where all my data is processed to destination.if the package fails by any chance i want an email notification with the cause of the error.how can i do this.please let me know..

I have created a data flow task. In that, in a 'data conversion', if a column fails validation then that row is redirected to a script component, which in turn writes the error to a variable.
But though the error is generated and script component receives the error, package doesnt fail.
Is there any way to set the package result to failure inside the script component? I tried set 'FailPackageOnFailure' to true but doesnt work.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a Script Component. I need the script component to fail, i.e. TURN RED, and stop the data flow.
The problem is, the Script Component does detect the error, because the initiating Data Flow task does indeed turn red and fail, but the actual script component is NOT failing on the data flow page, as I need it to.
Here is the portion of the code that I am using to fire the error.
Me.ComponentMetaData.FireError(1, "Script Component", "my Error message!", "", 0, True)
So the question is, how do I get the Script Component to simply STOP, i.e. turn red after this error is fired? I believe I am missing something here.

I am writing a custom dataflow destination that writes data to a named pipe server running in an external process. At runtime, in PreExecute, I check to see if the pipe exists. If it does not exist I want to be able to fail the component and gracefully complete execution of my package.
Question is, how do I do this? If I make a call to ComponentMetaData.FireError() that will only create an OnError event and not actually stop the execution. So, how to I halt the execution of my component and return the error message?

I have a SSIS package that has several Execute SQL Components. One of the first components reurns a Full Result Set of IDs based on a stored procedure call. The stored procedure can return multiple rows. I store the results to an ADO recordset (object variable) to be used later. I want the component to fail, and the package if the return of the stored procedure is zero records. What is the best way to do this? I had a raise error statement if @@rowcount was zero but this did not fail the component. Any other suggestions?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to debug the break points will always say the source code is different from the current version, but the custom component in the GAC has the new version number. The other strange thing is the toolbox will not reset to the original version meaning it will not remove the custom components. The funny thing is after I compile the custom components and restart VS the custom component runs with the new code changes. I can see the new features I added, but the debugger and toolbox still seem to be broken.
I have tried the following
1) Reset the tool box.
2) uninstall all my custom dll from the GAC €śC:WINDOWSassembly€?
3) remove all my custom dll from €śC:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPipelineComponents€?
4) restart VS 2005
5) reselect the custom components.
6) reboot my computer.
It seem like VS has another cache. For the tool box or something.
Does anybody have any suggestion?
I have an Excel file which contains some data. I want to load that into a SQL server Table. Here are my conditions :
1. If the table doesn't have any matching records from the Excel file, then my DFT should load the data from that Excel to the Dest Table.
2. If the table has even one or more matching records, then the DFT should not process at all, instead I should send an email to the business stating that there are some matching records and hence the package is not process...ed.
P.S. If i use Lookup, I have two matching and non-matching output. which will process the non matching records into the table and matching can be redirected to any flat/Excel file. But i don't want to do this. I just want to lookup the Sql Server table and excel.
It'll be good if there is an additional option in the Lookup "Fail component on matching records".

I have a package that has a data lfow task. this task imports data from a db2 database (using the IBM Ole DB provider fro db2) and adds it to sql server database table. This package was created on the server. then though version control (using TFS source control) I check out the package on my local machine. and when I open the package I get the foll 3 errors.

I have a package which reads an Access file from a folder. My connection manager to this file is .NET providers for OledbMicrosoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider.
Package works from my computer. But when I execute it on the server as a SQL Agent job, I get

I copied the mdb file to a folder on the server which my packages have no problem reading data from.
My packages run under the same domain account as defined in proxies.

In Work , we created a Cache component that serves a large business application, we are subscribing to almost 200 queries , the component worked quite well in the first few months of the development, but lately i am getting notification events that contain "Error" in the SqlNotificationEventArgs of the event , the "Source" value is "Client".
I have no idea what might cause this error event , we are close to "go live" with our product and we cannot depend on the Query Notification mechanism until this problem is solved.
Can it be a DataBase problem? Application Problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedTwo days ago I discovered that the drive on our test SqlServer2005 was full. The current Error_log had 54+ Gb (yes Gb) of records. Not only did I delete the file I restarted SS and the server.
That afternoon, I discovered that the current log had 33,678 records! I believe 33,616 of the records came from a single run of my app and set of program events. Obviously I'm doing something wrong in my Query Notification implementation and testing. And yet, when I try to to deliberately trigger the phenomenon, I can not.
Here is the head of the exported log file; the two msgs (query dialog closed and cannot drop queue) alternate thousands and thousands of times form a single test run. What is going on?! Pls help!

My database is logging frequent errors and I am unable to determine the cause. These errors appear to be related to the Service Broker. Below is the database log file after a database restart and attempted access to the database through a web application. The first error (bottom of the logfile) is error 28054. I have searched on this error code and have found nothing helpful. Any assistance or direction would be greatly appreciated.

We just got an Error 644 on our DB, the error was:
Could not find the index entry for RID '169bc61301c3950000209e1a0002000000030000' in index page (1:1683508), index ID 0, database 'TR'..
Error: 644, Severity: 21, State: 3
We run dbcc CheckDB on the TR DB with no error:
CHECKDB found 0 allocation errors and 0 consistency errors in database 'TR'.
I read JohnSharp post, and tried the script from Paul:
DBCC CHECKTABLE (sysindexes) WITH NO_INFOMSGS, ALL_ERRORMSGS
it return no erros as well, anyone got any more info on whats this error is?
At the time of this happen, its seems that a process is running, which run some stored proc which will create some temp tables, will that message be relating to some index that created on the tempdb (from the temp tables) rather then the index on the TR DB? Since we can't even tell which table its affected, is there any way to find out?

A few days ago a sproc stopped working, only noticed it this morning, when checking information to see what's up I get this:

Connection Broken
I've treid DBCC CHECKDBing all related tables and everything else. Even tried dbreindexing a couple of them too, everything reports as correct. When I looked further at the problem I spotted "index ID 2" in there, on checking this out in sysindexes it seems that the name field of sysindexes where id = 2 is SYSINDEXES and TSYSINDEXES.
I can't seem to do a DBB DBRECINDEX against a system table.
Any help appreciated.

I'm trying to create a simple Data transfermation. I have a flat file that came of a unix server.. it's 177 bytes wide.. thought it was 175, but when I created the flat file connector, I could see some extra characters on the end.
My output is going to be an excel spreadsheet, I only want two columns from the input. I created an oledb jet 4.0 connection. and followed instructions from here :

On my first attempt to dataflow, I ran into unicode errors and had to do this:
ran into a problem with unicode errors. went to the source for the flat file. for the output column in question changed to Unicode string [DT_WSTR].
When I run , here are the errors I get:

Anybody know how to troubleshoot these errors? I can't find anything on this error code. The same script works in DTS.
I have configured two node cluster environment on vmware with windows 2008 r2 os.I want to configure sql clustering over it.but prior to that I ran failover clustering manager on node V1 to create two node cluster(node v1,node v2 and third node as a domain controller with shared storage using iscsi target).After I successfully created cluster with name SqlClus1 I shut down all my vmware.Now when I start them all and see clustering status I get error RPC server not found and Cluster server can not be connected.On my cluster manager page I see cluster events marked as critical for both nodes.and cluster staus down.

I have a Send Mail Task in my control flow to notify users that the processing is done. I want to avoid the package to fall in error if the Send Mail task failed.
What is the best practice to do that ?
Should I raise the MaximumErrorCount of theSend Mail Task ? Should I play with ErrorHandler ?
Hi, I am using VB6 and sometimes when I try to display a report using cristal report 11 , I get this error "Logon Fail", I am working with SQL 2005 ENTERPRISE EDITION.

The import from Flat File Source fails: Error 0xc02020a1: Data Flow Task 1: Data conversion failed.
The data conversion for column "ArticleName" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.".

I have changed the size of the column "ArticleName" (varchar) to max but the error comes up again.
The data i want to import came with multiple flat files. They all could import properly but this one is a problem.

I posted a related thread before about this error below when I process a dimension. And seems that the solution by using "ClearCache" can not fingure out the issue when I want to process a mining structure...... .

When the setup program tries to start the database service (the last step of installation), it indicates an error 29503.

we have our cubes in Server A and SQL DB resides on Server B (we are on SQL 2014), from last couple of days are cube started failing due to below error:

hello Jamie actually i am trying to add something using OLE DB Command Component and i am getting this error
[Add Mail Status [8108]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E14. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E14 Description: "Error in stored procedure <myStoredProcedure>: @fNameStatus must be a GUID for relational fields".
in the stored procedure, the column name accepts a varchar(800) and i am passing a String (3). from the source, the column is nVarchar(255). For some reason, its working for email and all others please HELP

My process checks values in certain files in a "Source" folder against a table in a database. If these values do not match, those files are moved to a "Fail" folder and if they are validated then they are moved to a "Success" folder. My issue is caused by the fact that these files (which are notepad text files) are not being moved over to the success folder for the following error:
"The process cannot access the file '\Server1c$Source239598.TXT' because it is being used by another process."
I have checked whether these files were actually being used by another process but even cutting off users from the directory and even copied a test file into the folder, the issue will still pop up and for random files.
I've tried using two different components to do the same thing as the "Move" component --- "Copy files from source to destination" and then a separate component "Delete file from Source folder" which is essentially a move. The issue persists on the Delete process because it sees that the file is still being used by some other "imaginary" process it seems to me.
I've tried upping the MaxErrorCount on the Delete and even using the Move components to try to ignore this issue but the package still fails. Are there any other ways to get around this problem?
