Filter Query Using Free Text Predicate Contains For One Of Column That Have Dimensions Of Items
Oct 1, 2014
I am looking to filter the query using the free text predicate Contains for one of the column that have dimensions of the items. The query is something like
Select * from sampletable
where contains(filtercolumn, 'Near("*cm , *cm , *cm , *Kg.",10,True)')
Data in the filtercolumn is something like 64cm x 25cm x 35cm = 10Kg.
The query do not return any data.I also tried running the below query to see if cm* can be searcher for, but with no result again
Select * from sampletable
where contains(filtercolumn,, '"cm*"')
If I do something like below, it does return all columns that have 35cm within the text.
Select * from sampletable
where contains(filtercolumn,, '"35cm"')

is it possible to use a full-text search query on two tables at the same time? for example, say i have a table of items, and another table of descriptions... would i be able to search both those tables for a string in one query? they are currently in indexed in separate catalogs, would i need to put them both in one?
Is it possible to filter out a measure only at the intersection of Two dimension members? I have a date dimension, a Hospital dimension and a wait time measure.
For Example, is it possible to filter out Wait time for Bayside Hospital for the Month of June 2015?
I want Wait time to continue to be displayed for all other months and roll up into the totals without the filtered value.
In a calculated column I am trying to get a scalar text value from a lookup to another table. This works quite well when getting numerical values with the following formula:
But as soon as I substitute the numerical column by a string column, #error results.
I also want to mention that the above query yields only one row as a result. It should be simple to return the value of one of the columns but after searching for quite some time, I could not find any function for that.
Inside a column I have this result: Record 1: Sales;Admins Record 2: ;Sales;Admins Record 3: Sales; Record 4: Admins;
You can see the delimiter ";", it can be everywhere.
Now I want to delete "Sales". Therefor I have to search where the "Sales" is. (records) After that I want to delete the "Sales".
If I delete it the record may not have 2 or more delimiters after each other, like here: Record 1: ;Admins (good, better is to remove the delimiter also) Record 2: ;;Admins (bad) Record 3: ;(good, better is to remove the delimiter also) Record 4: Admins;
In my cube there is a customer dimension and a product dimension. If I filter on a single customer, and then click on the filter dropdown for product, all of the products for every customer are shown. Is it possible to make it so it only show the members for the customer selected?
I suspect the answer is no, as that would mean you can't untick any previously ticked members, but our account management team have got the right hump about them showing so I need to at least attempt it.
I have a data table in my project that has a "text" (not varchar) field in it. I am trying to load this field with little paragraphs of text for showing on my pages. How do I get the free text loaded into the table? The database explorer and all the data grid controls cut the text off at one line. There doesn't seem to be any way to get multiline text into this table.
I have a problem with report built in SSRS and deployed with Dashboard Designer to Sharepoint. There are few filters connected to report, 2 of them are multivalue. Regardless of data returned, when I select too many items in filter, the report is getting super small. It doesn't matter what you select, size changes when you select exact number of items or more. I replaced report with single line (filters where still conected) - result was the same. Small amount of items selected:
More items selected:
Size of the raport in Dashboard Designer is set to "Percentage of dashboard page", when I selected autosize, result was the same.
I've a querie which inserts into a table, while joining on it. Something like:
insert into table1 (columnA, columnB ) select (columnA,columnB) from table2 where columnA NOT EXIST(SELECT 1 from table1,table2 where table1.columnA!=table2.columnA)
As a rule of thumb, I avoid subselects and negative logic. However, sql2k seems to pick the fastest execution plan using this query, using a left anti semi join on that subselect. My question is this; what are the repercussions of inserting into a table when sql2k has already picked a query plan based on its stats? Is deadlocking possible? I haven't been able to find any evidence one way or the other. My objects are several million rows, so I am expecting some sort of side effect.
Hi I have a .net 2 website that works from a sql 2000 db. I am building a form that will allow the user to type in any search criteria and based on their input I need to produce some results (that’s the simplest way to put it)I will need to search various parts of my db to find similar sounding information, I was just wondering what is the best way to do this. I had the following thoughts1) Search columns using Soundex tsql function (but not sure how good this is?)2) Remove all noise words from user input (eg, and, or, the etc...) and then use a regular expression to search the fields in the dbAlternatively are their some third party components to do can do this for me Many thanks in advance
does anyone have code that shows how to separate individual words from a sentence.
e.g. i have a list of questions and answers in my database and have the following query for it:
SELECT question, Answer FROM QuestionsAnswer WHERE FREETEXT(Question, 'i want to travel around the world and learn about cooking')
so i want to extend the above query so that takes each key word (travel, cooking, learn) to find out how frequently that particular word appears in the question (for ranking purposes).
I know freetexttable does rank results, but they don't seem accurate enough for what i need to do.
I have created a stored procedure which should accepts a search friendly string to be used in a free text search. I am using DSPerson AS FT_TBL INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE (DSPerson, [FiftyWords], @FiftyWords ,50 ) AS KEY_TBL ON FT_TBL.PersonID = KEY_TBL.[KEY] WHERE FT_TBL.PersonID != @PersonID ORDER BY KEY_TBL.RANK DESC Now the problem here is that the parameter @FiftyWords should be able to accept a string such as '"Love" OR "Hate" OR "Customer Service"' Notice the start and end of the query with single quotes and concepts should be between double quotes. Now this works OK inside SQL Query Analyzer, but try to get this right building such a string within ASP.NET and passing it as a parameter to SQL. In SQL profiler it comes out all weird with more quotes than originally built on asp side (errror obviously). Furthermore, I can't find an escape sequence that comes out right on the SQL side. Any ideas of how to fix this??
Hello, I have an address search on my website which is free text, so you could type in either a postcode or an address, examples would be: "L1 3GB""Oxford Road""Oxford Road London""Oxford Road, London" - note the comma At the moment I have a sproc (see below) which works if a user types in just a postcode, e.g. "L1 3GB" or just a street name, e.g. "Oxford Road", but if a users types in "Oxford Road London" or "Oxford Road, London" my search will return no data. Can anyone advise how I can make my query work more effectively and work with more than just the most basic of input data? Thanks Marco SELECT Upper(Postcode) as 'Postcode', Upper(Address1) as 'Address1', Upper(Address2) as 'Address2', Upper(Address3) as 'Address3', Upper(Address4) as 'Address4', Upper(Address5) as 'Address5'FROM PostcodeWHERE (Address1 = @address) OR (Address2 = @address) OR (Postcode = @address)
I've got a free text index on a table that is taking 15-30 % of processing becuase there is a lot of insert activity on this table at the moment. I know the indexer backs off if the server gets busy - or so the theory goes. Is there a way for me to tell it to take more of a back seat?
I got a sales cost and cost amount table for my budget. the sales cost table is getting updated with FOBB items which makes the total incorrect . the FOBB values needs to be moved from the sales cost column to the cost amount column. how can i do it with an SQL script.
Anyone have any recommendations on how to bring together a search across multiple tables? Like I'd love to do a search where i searched for the product name, company name or tag all in one query (though all are in separate tables)... is that possible? Individually, it's easy, but combined it's very hard.
I have a new client with an existing system that has just over 2 million business listings in one table. Each business listing is associated with one business category.
* Company Table (around 20 fields):
companyID companyName categoryID state postCode etc.
* Category Table (5 fields)
categoryID categoryName etc.
We are using MSSQL 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services
A free text search needs to be performed on the companyName and categoryName limited by region (state and or postcode).
1) What kind of response times should I expect for the free text search (I have not used the free text search before)
2) How should I index the companyName and categoryName so they are both used in a joined query? i.e. Do I just configure the free text search index on each field separately and it should work?
I am facing the problem with datatype conversions, the scenario is using derived column transformation for add additional columns and then later i am trying to impliment Slowly changing dimensions(SCM) in my job, while mapping the columns at SCM from Input to Output it gave the error like suppose if i am using the numeric(3,0) at SRC system then i converted it into single byte unsigned at derived column and it recognized at SCD but the job fail while run the package it gave the error as task can not able to conversted given data type to target system dtata type.. ifi am not given the single byte unsigned data type at dervied column at the level of SCD mapping the input to output its not accapring this mapping and return the error as can be convert from system.decimal to system.byte..
This index files are created in my hidden folder. Now, my problem is, 1) Is this files associated with Full Text Search. 2) when the file will be created. 3) For what purpose, this files are stored.
hi , what is the definition and difference between predicate and residual predicate. give me some examples..Basically the columns used in where clause are called as predicates. Am i right.
I am facing one problem with reporting services 2005 (SSRS), When i try to pass a parameter to Cube which is built in SSAS, i can not use a parameter where i can type the value instead of choosing it from a dimension.
Any way we can type the value for parameter, instead choosing from the drop down? If can, then how can we create the parameter? and how can i write a MDX to read it?
I have created a cube in Analysis Services with a time dimension named Time. The data is only needed at the month level, so the fields in the table that the dimension is based on are [DTE MM] and [DTE YR]. In Visual Studio 2005 or in SQL Server Mgmt Studio I can browse the dimension and I see that Time has the following attributes: Year and Month both Regular attributes and Time (Key attribute). There is also a hierarchy named [Year - Month] and if I browse that it looks good dril down from All to Year to Month.
However, when I point my Reporting Services Datasource to the cube, and start Query Builder, I see two dimensions, [DTE MM] and [DTE YR] and no Time dimension.
This is causing me huge problems in my report. I need to use a date range in the query. To do this, I created Query Parameters and refer to Report Parameters that will be passed in. For example, I use ="[DTE YR].[Year - Month].[Year].&[" + Parameters!StartYear.Value + "].&[" + Parameters!StartMonth.Value +"]" (thanks to Simon Philips) as the query parameter for the Start Year Month, but if I use the [DTE YR].[Year - Month] in my SELECT, the data is not sliced in my query results. That is to say that the Year and Month show correctly, according to the date range, but the Measure is equal for each month and is equal to the total for the cube. To slice the data, I have to use [DTE YR].[Year].[Year] and [DTE MM].[Month].[Month] in my select, but then the data is shown for every month, i.e. the date range is ignored.
What am I doing wrong, or is this a quirk of RS that I can work around?
Using MDS 2012: I have an entity "XYZ_Entity". In "XYZ_Entity" entity I have 2 domain based Columns "DealerGroup" and "Dealer".
While inserting information into "XYZ_Entity" entity user can select the required dealer group from domain base Dealer Group values. Now for selecting Dealer he wants the dealers to be filter based on selected dealer group and he can select from the filtered list. reason to do that is he don't want to go through thousands of dealers and select an incorrect one.
Hi All I am working on a query to get all the datetime values in a column in a table into a comma separated text. eg. ColumnDate --------------------------- 2005-11-09 00:00:00.0002005-11-13 00:00:00.0002005-11-14 00:00:00.0002005-11-16 00:00:00.000 I wanted to get something like 2005-11-09, 2005-11-13, 2005-11-14, 2005-11-16 Have just started SQL and hence am getting confused in what I think should be a relatively simple query. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks
Hello, I have read on the multiple places that filter for full text search of PDF files using FTS2005 is included in the Reader 8 etc. However, I have not found any document or instruction etc on adobe documents, microsoft documents or web that details on how to actually configure the filter. Please help. thanks Kumud
So the cluster install forced us to install Full-Text on our cluster (which we don't want to use, but I guess we don't have a choice about installing it). Now I'm going through to update the services from Manual to Automatic (on the appropriate nodes) and I see SQL Full-text Filter Daemon Launcher running.
What is the harm in turning it off if we're not using Full-Text capabilities?
