I am trying to merge records with a stored procedure and I am getting a constraint violation error. Just wondering is there a way of finding out which records are the actual culprit?
This would help greatly in being able to troubleshoot this issue.
The error is this:
2/21/2008 12:40:39 PM :: Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'SK_SomeConstraint'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'tblTable'.
The statement has been terminated.
The constraint is a group of clustered indexes that must be unique:
i just got an error in my application when i tried to do an insert stating that there was a "unique key constraint". I have the database open with sql server management studio and i need to find out how to view the constraints?
How do i navigate to see the constraints on a table? Thanks
I am relatively new to SQL and as a project I have been asked to create the SQL for a simple database to record train details. I want to implement a check constraint which will prevent data from being inserted into a table if the weight of the train is more than the maximum towing weight of the locomotive. FOr instance, I need to add the unladen weight and maximum capacity of each wagon (located in the wagon type table) and compare it against the locomotive maximum pulling weight (the locomotive class table). I have the following SQL but it will not work:
check((select SUM(fwt.unladen_weight+fwt.maximum_payload) from hauls as h,freight_wagon as fw,freight_wagon_type as fwt,train as t where h.freight_wagon_serial_number = fw.freight_wagon_serial_number and fw.freight_wagon_type = fwt.freight_wagon_type and h.train_number = t.train_number) < (select lc.maximum_towing_weight from locomotive_class as lc,locomotive as l,train as t where lc.locomotive_class = l.locomotive_class and l.locomotive_serial_number = t.locomotive_serial_number))
The hauls table is where the constraint has been placed and is the intermediary table between train and freight wagon.
I may not have explained this very well; but in short, i need to compare the sum of two values in one table against a values located in another table...At present I keep getting a message telling me the sub query cannot return more than one row.
We are on SQL 2014...we have a bunch of views in a database where we are trying to find the views which have more than 16 columns max for unique index/constraint...this is needed so we can convert them to indexed views...
After adding a Unique constraint to a database I cannot add more than one record with a null value for the constrained field. I've tried both adding the constraint to an empty table as well as a table with multiple null values already in the subject field; both efforts have failed.
According to BOL SQL-7 allows Unique Constraints on fields with Null values. Am I missing a step? I do need to allow nulls in the field yet ensure that when there is a non-null value it is unique.
The SQL statement I've used is: ALTER TABLE tbl_MasterUIC ADD CONSTRAINT uniquesamplenbr UNIQUE NONCLUSTERED (samplenbr)
Hi I want to find 3 different columns maximum values in one shot. Like I tried to use a reader to go through results but it kept coming back with index out of bounds. Right now to get it to work I got to use a ExecuteScalar() get the first columns max value and then open the connection again(since it seems after ExecuteScalar() it closes the connection) and then do the ExecuteScalar() again. Open the connection again and do the ExecuteScalar() again. Theres got to be a better way of doing this.
I have written this script: What I want to do now is, with the new JOINED table find and display all the duplicates custID WHERE the price is either 100 OR 200. Can anyone help? I am very new to all this and can't see how to do it. Thanks!
SELECT * FROM table_customer T1 INNER JOIN table_itemsBought T2 ON T2.custID = T1.custID WHERE price = '100' OR price = '200';
I have a column called firstname ..in that it stores value like this
john smith andrew jr jim sr andrew bar tina *^ don $%
I need to retrieve all those rows where name consists of non alphabets...for example 5 and 6 has non alphabets..
I am using PATINDEX('%[^a-z]%',Firstname) function but if it finds space between names it is considering as error..I would like to find only non alphabets in name ..space is fine..is there any function to find out?
I have a field which is currently of the "date time" data type. i want to convert it to smalldatetime, but everytime I try, i get an error of the "The conversion from datetime data type to smalldatetime data type resulted in a smalldatetime overflow error. " sort.
I have tried to find the values which are out of the smalldatetime range, with the following query
SELECT *
FROM midmar
WHERE bday BETWEEN '01/01/1900' AND '06/05/2079'
Which doesn't quite work, and gives me values that are actually between those two values listed.
I have also tried having the WHERE clause read:
WHERE bday <'06/06/2079' AND
bday>'01/01/1900'
and that doesn't really work either.
What's going on? Is there likely another problem besides the structuring of my queries?
I have a program which feeds back information to a table within my database. The annoying thing is that only 1 of the table cells has all of the information I need so essentially I have a large string of data I need to retrieve values from.I retrieve my cell with a simple select details from alerts where ID = (alert number). The results I have are as follows:
As you can see I have a list (its larger but this is a sample), the only thing I need are the values for each section so for last processed i want the 2911 so I can use it on my dashboard and the last received I want the 10 for that section.i have read about using substrings but am really not sure where to start and how I'd go about getting these values to then use elsewhere?
Help, please. I am trying to update atable with this structre:CREATE TABLE Queue (PropID int, EffDate smalldatetime,TxnAmt int)INSERT Queue (PropID) SELECT 1INSERT Queue (PropID) SELECT 2INSERT Queue (PropID) SELECT 3....from this table...CREATE TABLE Txns (PropID int, TxnDate smalldatetime,TxnType char(1), TxnAmt int)INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20000201', 'B', 100000INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20020515', 'B', 110000INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20020515', 'A', 120000INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20020615', 'c', 130000....only certain txn types are okay, and they have an orderof preference...CREATE TABLE GoodTxnTypes (GoodTxnType char(1), Pref)INSERT GoodTxnTypes SELECT 'A', 1INSERT GoodTxnTypes SELECT 'B', 2The idea is to fill in the NULL fields in the Queue table, according to a rule -- the transaction must be the latesttransaction within a date window, it must be one of the goodtxn types, and if there are two txns on that date, choosethe txn by the preferred txn type (A is preferred over B,according to the field Pref). If the time window were 20020101 to 20030101, the txnselected to update the Queue table would be this one:INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20020515', 'A', 120000 -- there aretwo in the time window that are type A or B; they areboth on the same day, so the 'A' is preferred. If the time window were 20000101 to 20010101, this wouldbe selected because it is the only A or B type txn inthe interval:INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20000201', 'B', 100000I'm looking for a statement that starts...UPDATE Queue SET EffDate = ...., TxnAmt = .... (EffDate,in this table, is the same as TxnDate in the Txn table).Assume we have @FirstDate and @LastDate available.Help, please. I'm getting stuck with (a) a sub-query tofind the relevant Txn records, and (b) another sub-querywithin that to find the MAX(TxnDate) within the timewindow. Filtering the Txn records on the basis of theGoodTxnTypes table is easy, as is ordering what is returned. But I'm having trouble joining the sub-queries back to theQueue table on the basis of PropId.
I am trying to return a record from my sqlDataReader in 2.0. Here is the code that is throwing me: Dim strSQL As String = "SELECT login FROM (Table) WHERE (username = 'something')" Dim sqlDataReader As SqlDataReader Dim ConnStr As String = "connectionString" Dim myCn As New SqlClient.SqlConnection(ConnStr) Dim myCmd As New SqlClient.SqlCommand(strSQL, myCn) myCn.Open() sqlDataReader = myCmd.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection) The error that I'm gettin is this: 'Incorrect syntax near ')'.' and its on my ExecuteReader line. This works for me in 1.1 but not 2.0. Any ideas as to why? J
I have a really simple query which i can't figure out why its not working. I have a table called 'ADMIN' which has a datetime field called 'date_edited'. Because the majority of records have never been edited, i have allowed null values and they are filled with 'NULL' in each record. How ever, when i try:
SELECT * FROM ADMIN WHERE date_edited = NULL
I get no records, but i can see and know i have hundreds! I know i'm doing somthing really stupid, but for life of me can't figure it out!
I have a table with data in two columns, item and system. I am trying to accomplish is we want to compare if an item exists in 1, 2 or all systems. If it exists, show item under that system's column, and display NULL in the other columns.
I have aSQL Fiddle that will allow you to visualize the schema.
The closest I've come to solving this is a SQL pivot, however, this is dependent on me knowing the name of the items, which I won't in a real life scenario.
select [system 1], [system 2], [system 3] from ( SELECT distinct system, item FROM test where item = 'item 1' ) x pivot ( max(item)
I have basic knowledge of T-SQL and I am using Cursors to get the first value, the last value and the peak value and some other values from other tables. I found some examples on google but the code I am using is mixed up. I am using multiple Cursors. I need to join three tables to get the result set into the Cursor. The first example uses 2 tables.
The above code seems totally inefficient but it gives the correct result. Now I want to pull some more value and join a third table (TABLE z) in the above CURSORS and not sure how to make it working using CURSORS.I would like to use the following in the CURSORS above.
SELECT x.publishdate, y.firstname, y.lastname, y.age, z.initialValue AS FirstValue, z.HighestValue AS Highest, z.LastValue AS Last FROM TABLE x LEFT OUTER JOIN TABLE y ON x.id = y.id INNER JOIN TABLE z ON x.id = z.id
I developed a report with some values in textboxes. I want the output not to wrap around to the next line but to be truncated if it is more that the size of the textbox. Is there any setting that i can do b/c values are going to the second line when their size is more like printing name and last name will cause last name to go to the second line ?
I am calling a stored procedure that looks like this.
Code:
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[VerifyLogin] -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here @Email nvarchar (100), @Password nvarchar (200) AS BEGIN -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from -- interfering with SELECT statements. SET NOCOUNT ON;
DECLARE @Count int DECLARE @Accounts int
SET @Accounts = (Select Count(*) from Users Where UPPER(Email) = UPPER(@Email))
IF @Accounts = 0 BEGIN RAISERROR('E-mail address not found.', 10, 1) END ELSE BEGIN SET @Count = (Select Count(*) from Users Where UPPER(Email) = UPPER(@Email) and Password = @Password)
IF @Count > 0 select 1 as Verification ELSE select 0 as Verification END END
When I enter a login that does not exist, the error is not thrown in .net. Tracing the code shows normal execution. What am I doing wrong?
I have a comboBox with some names binded to it....With in the names some of them are like--- Store's Store, and like Danny's Gym...when i select names with ' in them i get this exception
Incorrect Syntax near 'S' Unclosed Question mark before the charectar string ORDER BY "SomeValue".....how could i go about fixing this?????
should i include some king of function that pulls out those quotes??? or what??? any help with this issue
I am using Compact Edition 3.5 against the Northwind.sdf database. The following SQL statement throws an error window in Visual Studio 2008 that states "The parameter is incorrect.". This only occurs when I have an input parameter inside the CASE statement.
********************************************************************************************************** PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME I CAN JUST USE 'WHERE @CompanyName LIKE '%ABB%'' BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND THAT - I WANT TO KNOW WHY THE SYNTAX I HAVE IS THROWING AN EXCEPTION **********************************************************************************************************
This throws an exception when input parameter is in the CASE statement: SELECT [Customer ID] FROM Customers WHERE (CASE WHEN @CompanyName LIKE '%ABB%' THEN 1 ELSE 0 END = 1)
This DOES NOT throw an exception (I know they do not get me the same results):
SELECT [Customer ID] FROM Customers WHERE (CASE WHEN [Company Name] LIKE '%ABB%' THEN 1 ELSE 0 END = 1)
OK so I have this SSIS package that uses a connection call "Conn1". I added this to my configuration file (which also contains connections called "Conn2" and "Conn3" which are used by other packages. Works fine in DEV when run via SQL Agent. I moved SSIS package and config file to prod server. SQL Agent now throws error on this package saying it cannot resolve path to "Conn3". This package doesn't use "Conn3"... I opened both the SSIS package and the Config file in notepad and verified Conn3 wasn't referenced in the package... HELP !!!!
I am new to SSAS and learning mdx, I am running the following query but it is throwing error "Parser: The syntax for 1 is incorrect",
Select [Measures].[Order Quantity] on axis(0), [DimProduct].[Product By Category].[ProductCategory].members on axis(1) From [ResellerSales] where Except({[DimProduct].[Product By Category].[ProductCategory].members}, {[DimProduct].[Product By Category].[ProductCategory].&[1]})
I am trying to create table with following SQL script:
Code Snippet
create table Projects( ID smallint identity (0, 1) constraint PK_Projects primary key, Name nvarchar (255) constraint NN_Prj_Name not null, Creator nvarchar (255), CreateDate datetime );
When I execute this script I get following error message:
Error source: SQL Server Compact ADO.NET Data Provider Error message: Named Constraint is not supported for this type of constraint. [ Constraint Name = NN_Prj_Name ]
I looked in the SQL Server Books Online and saw following:
CREATE TABLE (SQL Server Compact) ... < column_constraint > ::= [ CONSTRAINT constraint_name ] { [ NULL | NOT NULL ] | [ PRIMARY KEY | UNIQUE ] | REFERENCES ref_table [ ( ref_column ) ] [ ON DELETE { CASCADE | NO ACTION } ] [ ON UPDATE { CASCADE | NO ACTION } ]
As I understand according to documentation named constraints should be supported, however error message says opposite. I can rephrase SQL script by removing named constraint.
Code Snippet
create table Projects( ID smallint identity (0, 1) constraint PK_Projects primary key, Name nvarchar (255) not null, Creator nvarchar (255), CreateDate datetime ); This script executes correctly, however I want named constraints and this does not satisfy me.
I have @Year and @Month as parameters , both integers , example @Year = '2013' , @Month = '11'
SELECT T.[Year], T.[Month]
-- select the sum for each year/month combination using a correlated subquery (each result from the main query causes another data retrieval operation to be run) , (SELECT SUM(Stores) FROM #ABC WHERE [Year] = T.[Year] AND [Month] = T.[Month]) AS [Sum_Stores], (SELECT SUM(SalesStores)
[code]....
What I want to do is to add more columns to the query which show the difference from the last month. as shown below. Example : The Diff beside the Sum_Stores shows the difference in the Sum_Stores from last month to this month.
SELECT event_data.value('(event/data/value)[4]', 'bigint') AS cpu_time, --database name event_data.value('(event/data/value)[5]', 'bigint') AS duration, --estimated cost --estimated rows --nest level
[code]...
Basically, is a simple T-SQL query that reads the local file for my already setup extended event sessions. But I can't find the way to retrieve the following attributes as part as the T-SQL query:
--database name --estimated cost --estimated rows --nest level --object name
I am trying to find a BOL or some MS link with the full list of possible values for event_data.value but can't find one.
Sorry seem to be havign no end of trouble with SQL today. I need to create a query that will rank tickets using the row count of another table which has a relationship with the primarykey of that ticket table. I decided to spilt it into two querys, one which gets the count each ticketid has within a date peroid and relating to a os:: SELECT COUNT(*) AS count, Tickets.TicketID, Systems.OSFROM Rating INNER JOIN Tickets ON Rating.TicketID = Tickets.TicketID INNER JOIN Systems ON Tickets.SystemID = Systems.SystemIDWHERE (Rating.DateVoted >= @date)GROUP BY Tickets.TicketID, Systems.OSHAVING (Systems.OS = @osid) This works, BUT when I put in the date using: command.CommandText = "SELECT COUNT(*) AS count, Tickets.TicketID, Systems.OS FROM Rating INNER JOIN Tickets ON Rating.TicketID = Tickets.TicketID INNER JOIN Systems ON Tickets.SystemID = Systems.SystemID WHERE (Rating.DateVoted >=" + Datetime.Now.Adddays(-7) + ") GROUP BY Tickets.TicketID, Systems.OS HAVING (Systems.OS =" + 1 + ")"; And it throws up an error saying there was a syntax error at '22' (the hour I am currently on). So: Any idea how I can fix thisAny ideas on creating a query that will do the above, but also return the ticket informationHow do you link querys (I might have to do this if I can't work out 2)Please, If anyone has any ideas. This is driving me crazy
Hello,I'm using a typed dataset to access my database (SQL Express); I have a table that returns data, which two fields are null; I'm getting this error:{"Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints."}There are no foreign-key or unique key constraints, so it has to be a non-null issue; I changed the two fields in the table to have a null value of Empty instead of Throw Exception, but I don't understand what the problem is coming from... I'm at a loss.Thanks.
I have to create a custom rendering extension for SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services.
I followed the instructions in the MSDN article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/05/02/CustomRenderers/default.aspx
I am running the report server under an administrative account provileges on the local machine (XP Pro SP2). The Reporting Services is installed for SQL Server 2005 Trial/Evaluation Edition (not expired yet) and has been upgraded to Service Pack 2. The Report Manager runs under a default ASPNET account.
After deploying the extension according to instructions in the article, I see the custom renderer in the list of available rendering formats in the dropdown in the Report Manager.
However, when I select that renderer and click "Export", a new IE window opens with the following error message:
Server Error in '/Reports$SQLSERVER2005DEV' Application.
That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Exception: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.
Source Error:
An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below. Stack Trace:
[Exception: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers.]
[Exception: An error occurred during rendering of the report.]
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.1433; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.1433
My "why is it not working" question basically breaks down to 3 questions:
1. Why does this error say "partially trusted" whereas the new element in the rssrvpolicy.config file explicitly asks for "FullTrust" permissions?
2. Is there any deployment step that I'm missing? [For now, it's: - copy-and-paste the dll into ReportServerin directory; - add a new CodeGroup element to the rssrvpolicy.config file; - add a new Extension element to the rsreportserver.config file; - IIS reset; - Reporting Services service restart.]
3. Also, I checked the deployment instructions in BOL (Deploying Rendering Extension: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms154516.aspx), just to make sure I didn't miss anything. An interesting this is, the BOL article does NOT mention a requirement for adding a new element into rssrvpolicy.config file. Is this an error in the September 2007 Books Online?
The same error (regarding "partically trusted" - see above) occurs even after I signed the assembly with a strong name key (although this is not mentioned in the articles, but I figured it might be necessary).
Could someone point me in the right direction as to how to properly deploy a custom rendering extension, please?
