My database server had hung up recently, and I had to restart it.
After checking the log I found some garbage entries in it.
has anyone encountered similar errors?

Oct 26, 2007Folks I have recently had the misfortune of moving to SQL Server Managment Studio as per our upgrade to SQL 2005. There is no doubt that SQL Server Management is a major disappoinment compared to Enterprise manager.
The UI is the biggest disaster I have ever seen. Getting rid of the SQL Query analyzer tool was a TERRIBLE idea. The UI is buggy and unfriendly. It is a major POS. I hope someone in the SQL Dev team is listening / reading this post (hellooooo anybody homeee......)
Now that I have vented my frustration ...
I wanted to know any atlernatives to the SQL Server Management Studio. There are plenty of 3rd Party tools out there I wanted to find out from this forum which popular 3rd Party tools are most developers using

Deploy To Production Server / SSIS Writes Out Garbage Data
Apr 2, 2015I built a SSIS(writing out to a flat file ) in 32 bit machine and it woks fine . But however when I deploy to the produciton server(64 bit) the SSIS writes out garbage data . After some research I found out that the problem with the 32 bit OS and 64 bit OS problem.What is my next step. Am I out of luck that now I will have to redesing the SSIS in 64 bit?

I have a question!
in my ASP.NET page I use a SqlDataAdapter object for working on my database
first I declare it as a global vaiable(SqlDataAdapter objDataAdapter;)
then I construct it in my Page_Load procedure like this
(objDataAdapter=new SqlDataAdapter(strSql,objConnention))
then when I want to use it in my other procedures an error tells me that your object does not exist
for solving this error I should construct my objDataAdapter in evry procedure using it.
but I think such variables should not be erased from Heap automatically(with Garbage Collection)
because it has a reference to Stack. I mean the global variable...
any opinion ?

I´m getting a very unpleasant result when I use "SELECT * FROM <many-columns-table (40+)>". Each query row appears with overwritten columns (not all but some of them)... also outside EM window !!!
There is no data corruption on EM nor Windows, all programs remains running with no other sign but garbage overwritten... garbage dissapears after window refreshing.
Just 1 month ago I made a 2-day full reinstall of my computer, so I don´t know what program could install an offending module/DLL/??? buy I´m sure it was working before. I hate that!
Have you ever noticed something like that?
Do you think is a DLL problem?
Do you know a turn around? (I don´t want to reinstall all again!!!)
Actually I´ve tried reinstalling SP4, SP5 on WS, uninstalling/reinstalling Client with no luck...

Flatfiles With Garbage Data
Nov 13, 2006I was testing my packages today and my packages were running sucessfully when I didnt have any valid data in the flat file. One the reason was as not rows were returned from the flat file none of the validation script components returned any err.
How do I count the # of rows which were read from flat file from the package and continue only if there is more than one row.
I tried using conditional split but as I wont have the row count value availble till the dataflow task runs this didnt help.
Is it best for me to have two dataflow tasks one resturns the count of records from flat file and the other starts if there are any rows. Now my problem is if I have rows to process how to I transfer the flatfile data to validate from DataFlowTask1 to DataFlowTask2?
I have a script task whcih counts the rows and decides to the TaskResult but once the TaskResult is sucess how do I use the values read in DataFlowTask1?

I'm trying to write a reusable script to giveme a list of all the tables in a database that have 1 or more rows.My approach is to a BAT file (see script 1 below) that calls OSQLtwice, once to call a SQL script (see script 2 below) that uses theInformation_Schema views to generate the SELECT COUNT(*) statementsand fill in all the tables names in the database, write this to atemporary output file and the second OSQL command to read thetemporary output file and generate me the results formatted theway I need.The result of the first OSQL run is correct EXCEPT for 1> 2> 3> 4> 5>6> 7> 8> 9> 10> 11> 12> 13> garbage at the beginning of the file.Because of this garbage the 2nd OSQL command blows up! I've created a linked server (and set up the corresponding schema.ini file) in order to perform bulk-inserts from some CSV text files into SQL tables (from my standpoint the text files are just for reading purposes). The linked server works fine (I can select the data in the files without a problem).
Now the question: is possible to automatically detect when one or more of those files change in order to start the import process automatically? Something like having a trigger created on the CSV files Or there's no easy way to do that so I have, to say something, to create a Job that periodically checks if the files have changed programatically (say, recording each file's timestamp everytime is imported and comparing the recorded value with the current one, or whatever)?

Jan 9, 2015I proposed on a new server that we separate Data Files, Log Files, tempDB, Backups, etc. onto separate LUNS on a SAN with High Speed Solid State Drives.I was told that with the new technology with solid state SAN's that it would decrease performance and that it did not work the same way as it did when you had RAID 5's etc.I thought that if things were cared out correctly by a SAN Administrator they would know how to configure for optimal performance.

Script Task: How To Compare Files On FTP With Existing Files In Local Folder Before Transfer!
Apr 24, 2008In the first step of my SSIS package I need to get files from FTP and dump it/them in a local directory, but it's more than that, the logic is like this:
1. If no file(s) found, stop executing and send email saying no file(s) found;
2. If file(s) found, then compare it/them with existing files in our archive folder; if file(s) already exist in archive folder, stop executing and send email saying file(s) already existed, if file(s) not in archive folder yet, then transfer it/them to the local directory for processing.
I know i have to use a script task to do this and i did some research and found examples for each of the above 2 steps and not both combined, so that's why I need some help here to get the logic incorporated right.

Jun 10, 2007I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.
I have two SQL Server instances installed.
1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)2- UserLTSQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)
But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:
Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925
I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)
and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLTSQL2005".
But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

Good Evening All,
I've serached this forum and Google'd for a resolution to this issue, to no avail. Here's the scenario:
I'm running VS 2005 on Windows Media Center laptop and need to create ASP.net membership for my web application built using VB. I have SQL Server Developer installed with instance name MSSQLSERVER. Previously, I uninstalled SQL Express and installed Developer edition and can now open and utilize Management Studio.
Now, when I try to create a new SQL Server database in my solution's App_Data directory, I receive the above error. I already changed instance name in VS2005 per Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to MSSQLSERVER.
Could someone provide me with a list of procedures to ensure proper setup of VS2005 with SQL Server Developer Edition?

DB Engine :: Copy Files From Source Server On Destination Server
Sep 25, 2015I want to schedule a job which pulls files from a non SQL server (Sybase) which later needs to have a step 2 kicking the ssis package. Problem is that, on the source a batch file will run every 4 hours and outputs total of 10 text files. (takes 5 minutes complete). Now, on destination i want to pull these files via SQL job but while scheduling;
1. I don't see any option saying like 4 hours 10 minutes or so
2. If its out there, then i believe this might be a problem as this time would be an increment one e.g next run would be 4 hours 20 minutes in that case.
How should i achieve pulling these files up because we have an SSIS package on destination that needs those text files to be used as soon as they arrive on SQL server(destination)

Then right-clicked on my ASP.NET2.0 Website project, here I click on Add New Item and go for a SQL Server Database. I remember I did this with SQL Server Express and a file-based database was created in App_Data. That was very cool. But now it says I need to have SQL Server Express installed to have SQL Server file in my project.Do I have to install some specific component from my SQL Server 2005 pack? or this is only a SQL Server Express feature? By the way what's the difference? Is the file-based mode something like Microsoft Access type database? Can it handle multiple connections at a time? Please help me with this.Best Regards,Amin

I recently received this cd and the client claimed it had the sql server database for their website on it. When I got the cd I have this file with no extension number what soever. I didn't think you could have sql server files put onto disks etc. Is there a way of accessing that file and taking the database tables etyc I want and putting them into a new database on my server?
Or has the client not no what they are doing and have sent me some form of rubbish?
