Get List Of Working Hours Into A Readable Report

Nov 20, 2006

Hi guys, im having bigtime problems transfomring a list of working hours into a readable report.

I got a db with a table that looks like this:

Userid Login Logout
22006-11-20 13:22:002006-11-20 22:31:00
22006-11-19 12:31:002006-11-19 17:31:00
22006-11-18 10:31:002006-11-18 17:31:00

I need to transform that data into this:

Weeknumber Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
46 0 0 0 0 0 7 0
47 9.15 0 0 0 0 0 5

All i got so far is this query:
SELECT DATEPART(ww, login) as weeknumber , DATENAME(dw, login) AS day, DATEDIFF(minute, login, logout) / 60.0 as hours
FROM timeliste
WHERE userid = '2'

Which isnt even close to what I want, can anyone give me some clues on what I should do to get it right?

Working With Hours

Feb 20, 2008

Would you help me ?

In the example below, how can I do to have count = 9 ?

It means that I have 9 periods of 30 minuts from 09:00 to 13:30.

Thank you.

declare initial_hour as varchar(10)
declare final_hour as varchar(10)
declare per30min as varchar(10)

declare count as int

set initial_hour = '09:00'
set final_hour = '13:30'
set per30min = '0:30'

set count = (final_hour - initial_hour) / per30min ------>>> count = 9

SQL Server 2008 :: Filter List Of Employees Where Sum Of VALIDATED Hours Is Less Than 80?

Mar 12, 2015

How do I filter a list of Employees where the Sum of "VALIDATED" hours is less than 80? For example.

Here is the flat table

SELECT EMP_NO, hours, IsValidated, rate_type
FROM Pay_Records
WHERE pay_period_id = 2
Order by EMP_NO

Output will be something like this

12345 | 2 |true |REG
12345 | 15 |false |OVR
12345 | 30 |true |OVER
33334 |2| true |REG

Total Validated hours for the Employee 12345 will be 32 NOT 47. How do I list employees who worked less than 80 validated hours. The hours are validated only when it is true.

Report Designer: Need To List Fields From Multiple Result Rows As Comma Seperated List (like A JOIN On Parameters)

Apr 9, 2008

I know I can do a JOIN(parameter, "some seperator") and it will build me a list/string of all the values in the multiselect parameter.

However, I want to do the same thing with all the occurances of a field in my result set (each row being an occurance).

For example say I have a form that is being printed which will pull in all the medications a patient is currently listed as having perscriptions for. I want to return all those values (say 8) and display them on a single line (or wrap onto additional lines as needed).

Something like:
List of current perscriptions: Allegra, Allegra-D, Clariton, Nasalcort, Sudafed, Zantac

How can I accomplish this?

I was playing with the list box, but that only lets me repeat on a new line, I couldn't find any way to get it to repeate side by side (repeat left to right instead of top to bottom). I played with the orientation options, but that really just lets me adjust how multiple columns are displayed as best I can tell.

Could a custom function of some sort be written to take all the values and spit them out one by one into a comma seperated string?

If this isn't doable from RS, can I just find the associated job in the Agent and change the schedule of that job?

List Filtering NOT Working

May 3, 2007

I have a Report where i want to show in a DataList only those values Filtered by one of the fields of my dataset. I want to show a Date value ONLY if another column value in that row in my dataset = "IN".

But nothing seems to happen here. No records are shown. It's like the condition is never true.

Steps:

1. I drag a DataList

2. I drag a DatasetField inside the DataList (automatically creates a textbox)

3. Right Click on the Datalist, Properties, then Filter Tab

I use the following statement on the Filter tab

=Cstr(Fields!TransactionType.Value) Like "IN"

or

=Cstr(Fields!TransactionType.Value) = "IN"

it doesnt work at all.

Does anyone knows what's going on?

Thanks

Breaking Down Total Hours Worked Into Day And Evening Hours

Sep 21, 2006

I have data coming from a telephony system that keeps track of when anemployee makes a phone call to conduct a survey and which project numberis being billed for the time the employee spends on that phone call in aMS SQL Server 2000 database (which I don't own). The data is being returned to me in a view (see DDL for w_HR_Call_Logbelow). I link to this view in MS access through ODBC to create alinked table. I have my own view in Access that converts the integernumbers for start and end date to Date/Time and inserts some otherinformation i need. This data is eventually going to be compared with data from someelectronic timesheets for purposes of comparing entered hours vs hoursactually spent on the telephone, and the people that will be viewing thedata need the total time on the telephone as wall as that total brokendown by day/evening and weekend. Getting weekend durations is easyenough (see SQL for qryTelephonyData below), but I was wondering ifanyone knew of efficient set-based methods for doing a day/eveningbreakdown of some duration given a start date and end date (with theday/evening boundary being 17:59:59)? My impression is that to do thiscorrectly (i.e., handle employees working in different time zones, adjusting for DST, and figuring out what the boundary is for switchingfrom evening back to day) will require procedural code (probably inVisual Basic or VBA).However, if there are set-based algorithms that can accomplish it inSQL, I'd like to explore those, as well. Multi-value Parameter In Master Report Passing To Single Param Sub-report In A List.

Aug 20, 2007

Here's tricky one.

I have a fairly complex report that was given to me that was hard coded for single parameters. There is a dropdown for each market (created from a query in SSRS). The users have to run for each market each week.

Is there a way to use this report as a Sub-report inside a list of a master report and then use a mult-value parameter?

I want this multi-value parameter to build the values for the list and then run the "sub-report" for each value.

Essentially, I want to create a for each loop.

Any ideas?

Report Explorer And Report Viewer Webparts Not Working With New WSS 3.0

In the home page I added the Reports Explorer and the Report viewer web parts. I set up the Reports Explorer and the list of reports are showed.

When I connect the Report Viewer Web part to get report from the Report Explorer web part I get the maintenance WSS page. I have to delete the Report Viewer web part to have the page working again.

If I use only the Reports Viewer with a report (not connected to Reports Explorer) is working just fine.

Any ideas what could be the problem? Any hints on how to investigate this is also much appreciated.

Import Human-Readable Text File Into SQL Server 2000

Jul 20, 2005

Hello,I am receiving a text file that is produced from a mainframe that isout of my control. I am attempting to find a (hopefully clean) way toimport it into a SQL Server database in an automated fashion. I amnot really concerned about how many tables it requires or what theschema looks like as long as the data remains related and ends up inits respective fields (I will probably use scratch tables for this). The data is given to me in a format that is meant to be printed outand read by human eyes (in a text file). The format looks somethinglike this:Begin File:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------1234 1234 1234 1234 XYZ Company 01/01/2003.......More stuff related to XYZ company for a couple of lines ..............(this stuff can easily be parsed by position).......MCARD VISA AMEX DISC-------------------------------------------------------------------------------TOTAL 11111.11 4444.44 5555.55 30.01TRANS FEE .20 .20 .15 .15TRANS AMOUNT 2222.22 888.89 833.33 4.50DISC .0165 .0165 .0365 .0355-------------------------------------------------------------------------------ANOTHER HEADER............More stuff related to XYZ Company................End File:Well, this isn't the exact format, but just an example. The point isthat all of the data in each column is related and should end up inthe same record which is related to the parent record of XYZ Company(or all in a single record in a single table if that is the closest Ican get). Also, the rows are not always present. For example, if TRANS FEEdoesn't apply to anything in the row, then the entire row willcollapse and TRANS AMOUNT would be the next line after TOTAL.I was looking at the bcp utility and dts, but dts doesn't seem to havethe performance capabilities (or reliability for that matter) I amlooking for. Bcp seems like it might work if there is some advancedformatting commands that I can't find in the documentation - Anyone? The best I can come up with is to use a high level language such as C#or VB.NET to parse the text file into another text file that is commadelimited, and then use the bcp utility (or bulk insert) to import itinto SQL Server where I can then use TSQL to manipulate it how I want.I am trying to eliminate the high level language parse and just gostraight from file to database. Does anybody know an easier route?TIA

Anyone Know How To Design Phone List Report?

To maximize the number of names and phone numbers we can fit on a page, we'd like to have three or four columns of LastName, FirstName, Number on each page. The first column starts with the A's and goes down until the bottom of the page then goes back up to the top of the page in the second column. When the maximum number of columns (probably 3 or 4) is reached for one page, it starts again in the first column of the second page.

This is what we're looking for...

Report Builder On Client Is Not Working

Oct 26, 2007

Hello,

I can use Report Builder on my server. However, when am on the client machine (logged in as myself with Admin rights) I see the Report Builder button. I click it and nothing happens. I do have the 2.0 .NET framework install on the client machine.

When I move the mouse over the button it displays the ReportServer/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder.application on the status bar at the bottom of the window.

I've tried setting the security on the server, but I've had some problems understanding exactly what I need to set and where.
For example, in this http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365173.aspx link it says, "1. Create a role assignment under Home that includes the Report Builder role. An item-level role assignment is necessary for granting access to report models."

Where exactly is Home? Is it the directory, is on the Report Manager? Do I set these role assignments on the directories in IIS? I've tried a bunch of different things, but I feel like I am grasping around in the dark.

On the server, I clicked the "Enable My Reports to support user-owned folders for publishing..." and I can see that on the client machine, but that is all I've been able to accomplish.

I've seen other posts about this, but I haven't been able to nail down this issue.

Thank you for the help.
