Getting Foolowing Error While Installing Sql Server 2000 Reporting Service Setup
Mar 30, 2007
Dear All,
I am making web application using Asp.net C#(Visual Studio2005). And Sql server 2000 as a back End upgraded with service pack 3 and analysis service.
Now I am trying to install sql server 2000 report services. But I run SQL2KRSSP1-ENG.EXE setup
Then following error occurs
The upgrade patch can not be installed by window installer because the program to be upgraded may be missing , or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
I redownload the same exe to other location. And again run but getting same error
Please Guide me or atleast give some help full link.
thanks

I've installed SQL Server 2000 trial on a standalone XP Pro machine as a local server, however the debugger does not work correctly. I will not allow me to step into the code of stored procedures. Can anyone provide me assistance in resolving this.
I got this error message during SQL Server Express install with no error code on Server 2003 SP1. I'm installing on an older development machine and although I do have a very large log file somewhere I wanted to post before I even dug into it. I noticed in IIS under my Webs that the MSSQLExpress webs were there at first but when I clicked on them to get any info or Properties... they dissapeared. So they were almost installed but they no longer exist. Also I do not have a SQL Service Manager icon down near the clock.
I almost took a step to fix this. After reading a few posts about similar problems I thought maybe this happened because the Default Web Sites IP # was not set to (All Unassigned). I was going to try a repair install from Add/Remove Programs but the temporary setup files are already gone. I really dont want to uninstall all 5 SQL components from Add/Remove Programs and start from scratch.
As good security practice we usually remove the Default Web or as in this development servers case we changed the IP from (All Unassigned) to an IP that is only accessible from certain machines on the internal network. I obviously should have read more pre setup guides. Anyway how can I fix this without reinstalling everything?
I have XP Pro SP2 with MDAC 2.8.1022. It had a problem so I tried to reinstall MDAC and got a Fatal Setup Error. This setup does not support installing on this operating system. I downloaded MDAC 2.8 1177 and get the same error.
I thought of uninstalling/reinstalling SP2, but this is a 2 month old Dell Latitude 610 with factory installed XP. There is no Windows Service Pack 2 option listed in the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
There's some other strange things, so I wonder if they are related.
1) I have Paul set up as an administrator account. Some folders like MSSQL show that account with no permissions. I grant all the permissions to Paul for that folder. I come back later and the permissions are gone.
2) I deleted 20 files in Explorer, but 7 of them did not go away. I deleted those 7 again and they instatnly reappeared. I deleted those 7 again and then they finally went away.
3) I get a slow reaction time for things like Windows Explorer and opening and closing programs. This is suprising since it has 2 gig of RAM and 2.3 Gig processor. Could it be a memory handling problem that's causing OS problems. Probably, the memory didn't handle the OS installation well and the whole system is compromised now.
Hi, i tried to install MS SQL server 2000 in my XP system but during the setup service account installation, i tried to use a domain user account but it cannot validate my user name and password. I used my windows administrator logon account and password. Please help..thank you.
I am trying to install Service Pack 4 to set up the SQL Server 2000 but I am having problem. When I clicked the setup.bat, the screen just "froze" with the message " validating user. Please wait..."
i'm running win2k sp4 on a 2.4Ghz P4 with 512M ram and 1.5 gigs freespace on my harddrive (more than enough for the sql server client).
i insert the cd and start up the installer. i then get the splash screen, click on "SQL Server 2000 Components", then on "Install Database Server". Then the splash screen disappears and nothing happens for a while (sometimes a really long while). Then an error message pops up saying:
where <some message> is a differing message. sometimes it's "The data is invalid", sometimes a cycle redundancy check error, sometimes a inpage error...
<some source> is one of the files on the sql server cd, and this also differs most of the time. <some target> is the corresponding <some source> in the sql server setup's temp dir.
as well, if i restart my computer and try starting the installer after windows has started up (well, at least all of the sys tray icons have loaded) i usually get an error message saying something about "msetup" having an error and being shut down. it also mentions that there is some log file which is created, but i'm not sure where it's located or what it's called.
i have also noticed that some process called " wowexec.exe" is starts up when the installer does, and keeps running after the installer (setupsql.exe) crashes. i am also unable to end the " wowexec.exe" process and process tree.
i don't think there's anything wrong with the cd, since it looks like it works file on other pc's. any idea what may be wrong?
i would really appreciate any help in fixing this. i really need to get the sql server 2k client installed (particularly the enterprise manager).
We have successfully been using MSCS with MSSQL7 (SP1) running under NT4 EE (SP6a), installed in an active/active configuration using, two DELL PowerEdge 6350 machines. Recently I installed MSSQL7 (SP2), I followed the instructions that came with SP2, and unclustered the SQL nodes using the Failover Cluster Wizard, and installed SP2, this was uneventful, and appeared to install correctly. Next I tried to recluster the SQL nodes using the Failover Cluster Wizard as directed. This failed with: "Could not run setup on remote machine. SQL Cluster Setup failed." So I began the usual research using the usual resources, and have found articles that discusses this error, and the things to look for when it happens. I have exhausted all suggestions without success. I appear to have everything correctly configured. I have enabled Cluster Logging (level 3), following are the two things I have found that indicate something is wrong:
1. In the SQL Error Log the following gets logged when I run the wizard: "Attempting to initialize Distributed Transaction Coordinator." "Failed to obtain TransactionDispenserInterface: XACT_E_TMNOTAVAILABLE"
2. In the Cluster Log I see the following message repeatedly: "[ClRtlCopySecurityDescriptor] MakeSelfRelativeSD failed, 0x00000551"
3. In the sqlclstr.log I see the following, without an indication of which file is missing: "[reghelp.h:235] : 2 (0x2): The system cannot find the file specified." "[clushelp.cpp:166] : 259 (0x103): No more data is available." "[validate.cpp:147] DeleteTestGroup:OpenClusterResource: 5007 (0x138f): The cluster resource could not be found." "~~~ XXX InstallRemote failed"
Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this problem? Many thanks in advance.
Hi,I am planning to install sql server 2000 sp4 on my clustered serverrunning in active/passive mode.I plan to stop all sql services using cluster administrator, installthe service pack from the primary node and then reboot all nodes. Are there any missing steps that need to be done or problems thatanyone has come across?ThankLyn
Is it possible to install SQL Server 2005 Eval on a Virtual PC 2007 client running Server 2008 Beta? Nothing says it isn't possible, it says I need to service pack it right away, but before it gets started it comes up with the error 'sqlcu.dll failed to load'. Anyone know what this is all about?
I have tried several times to install SQL server onto an NT4.0 server which is more than capable of having more than one application to cope with, however, when going through the install procedure the programm stops with the following message
DR.Watson Access Violation Setup.exe In address :
Any hints as to where the problems lies or point me inthe right direction would be appreciated.
I am using Windows XP PRO and trying to Install SQL SERVER 2000 Reporting Services.
I have already installed SQL SERVER 2000 developer Edition, sql server service pack 3, VS.NET 2003 and .NET frame work 1.1.
I downloaded the SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services Evaluation Edition. I expected that there are both Server Component and Client Components which are available to install because evaluation edition support all features of Enterprise Edition. However I only saw the Client Components available during setup. Where can I find the Server Components to install? I appreciate very much if I can get advice from any of you.
To Whom It May Concern:There is a piece of software that was needed to be installed to authorreports in Reporting Services for SQL 2000. That piece of software isVisual Studio .NET 2003. I do not have that piece but I am able toget the beta version of Visual Studio .NET 2005 from Microsoft. Willthat work for the installation and consequently the authoring part ofReporting Services? If not, could someone help me?Thank you in advance!Josh
I've been trying to install SQL Reporting Services 2005 on Server 2000.
Everything installed fine until I looked at the Web Service Identity which is blank. I've tried changed the rsconfig file, and giving everyone access, that did not change anything. I look on the database server and noticed that there is no ASPNET account. Not sure if this means anything, but I'm lost as to how to get the Web Service Identity to show anything other than blank.
I am trying to install SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services on a machine with Windows Server 2003. It keeps telling me ASP.NET is not installed or not configured with the web server. I have registered it with IIS using "C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv1.1.4322aspnet_regiis.ex e -i" and I have installed all necessary updates and restarted the server. I've even set ASP.NET version 1.1.4322 as the default version on the Default Web Site. It is still claiming that it's not installed or not configured.
I checked the help and it says:
Report Manager is an ASP.NET application. If you are installing Report Manager, you must have ASP.NET installed and configured. Setup requires that version 1.1.4322 of ASP.NET be registered with IIS. If you are installing Reporting Services on Windows Server 2003, ASP.NET must be running as Network Service. For information about installing and configuring ASP.NET, see the setup documentation
As far as I can tell, ASP.NET 1.1.4322 is installed and configured and running as the user Network Service. Am I missing anything?
I'm trying to install SQL Server 2005 on a server 2000 machine, everything is working with the exception of the Web Service Identity. It is putting machinenameASPNET, and I don't know where to go to make it use something else. I've look around but I have really seen any answers that have worked for me.

I have a problem installing SQL Server 2000 standard edition in a Windows 2003 Server , when I try to setup there is a message saying : " You cannot install SQL server 2000 sp 2 and below in this operating system " and the installation stops .
I have tried to run sp3 before the installation but obviously It doesn´t work . I think the solution is something like updating the setup program to make it work in Windows 2003 Server , when I see the system requirements on the box it says that I can install SQL server 2000 in w2003 .

Hi all, I want to create reports using SQL Server Reporting service 2000 Developer Edition. For that i want SQL Server Reporting service 2000 Developer Edition. Any body please tell me from where i have top download SQL Server Reporting service 2000 Developer Edition? And any prerequist to create the reports? Thanks in advance.
I have an asp.net 2.0 web app that integrates with reporting services. Since installing sql server 2005 sp2 I get the following error when trying to access reports:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
This data source is configured to use Windows integrated security. Windows integrated security is either disabled for this report server or your report server is using Trusted Account mode. (rsWindowsIntegratedSecurityDisabled)
I've checked the directory security for the report server website in IIS and integrated windows authentication is checked.
I can't understand what has caused the problem, before sp2 the reports were working fine.
The SQL Server System Configuration Checker Cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the machine djones-xp Error: 2147749907 (0x80041013).
I am trying to install SQL2k5 on several developers workstations when I receive this error. I have successfully installed on a server and on my workstation...
I needed to re-install the entire sql server 2005, I used add/remove program. everything went normal, except reporting service. I deleted the entire upper sql server directory, rebooted the box, however, it still shows up in services, even though the path does not exist. I tried to reinstall it again, but it complains about name already exists. I cannot change the name, but I am not able to find how I can remove it and reinstall it properly.

I have installed SQL Reporting Service on one server. Using the config tool, I am trying to setup the Reporting Database on a seperate SQL instance. This SQL instance is running on a Clustered SQL 2005 server.
The creation of the Database is sucessful. However when I give the Windows credentials to connect to this database on the same page, I always fail at the following task : Setting Connection Info for Reporting Server. The error message is :
"System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800706B3) at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo) at System.Management.ManagementObject.Get() at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.SetDatabaseConnection(String server, String database, ConfigurationCredentialsType credsType, String userName, String password)"
The Windows Account I am using has Full SQL Rights to the Clustered SQL Server. I have seen other posts on the forums about the 0x800706B3 error, but most of them are related to a problem with RPC.
The Reporting Services account is runing under 'Network Services'. I am not sure if this is causing the problem?
Hi All, I think I need someone to look over my issues with installing the Reporting service. So, if anyyou could take a look at this would be much appreciated. In the Configured Report Server window for the Database setup, I get green lights in the Task Status but, a yellow triangle status telling me that €śalthough saving the database connection succeeded, the report server can not access internal information€? and €ś If you are configuring a scale-out deployment, this feature is not supported by this edition. To continue use another report server database or remove the encryption keys from the current database before initializing the report server€?. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks
We would like to install Sql 2005 Enterprise Edition (including database engine, reporting service, integration service and analysis service) as a sepearte instance on a server which already has Sql 2000 with reporting services and analysis services. We do not want to disturb the existing sql 2000 setup.
If we do that then what will happen to my earlier sql 2000 reporting service? Will it be upgraded to sql 2005 reporting service? I heard that reporting services are instance unaware application. Where will be the default reporting service database available?
Hello, I hope someone knows the answer to this issue. I am trying to install SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition and once I get to the screen that is asking for the SQL Server instance and Login Information I receive the following error when trying to proceed.
(Report Server database is a different version and cannot be used for this installation)
I have installed reporting services 2000 developer edition many times and I have never seen this error.
I have problem during first configuration of Reporting Services from MS SQL 2005 Server Express with Advanced Services SP2. The error occurs when configuring virtual directory (Reporting Services Configuration Manager -> Report Server Virtual Directory). When I try to create new virtual directory I can see following messages:
Number of errors: 0 Create Virtual Directory
The virtual directory was created and assigned. Changing Secure Connection Level
After last message Windows reports that SQL Server 2005 Reporting Configuration Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close (and I can send report to Microsoft).
IIS shows that virtual directory under default web site was created.
My environment: MS SQL Reporting Services Version 9.00.3042.00 Windows XP Proffessional SP2 IIS 5.1 all components are fresh new installations. The only additional configuration I've made was adding IWAM_<hostname> as WebServiceAccount, all other configuration is default.
Hello, any information about this issue would certainly be appreciated! I've been trying to install SP1 for my SQL Server 2005. There is a failure for the reporting services which appears in the following text from the log:
