I need to run a sequel statement in a stored procedure and get if it found any records because the next statements depend on if records were found or not. How do I do this?
I'm trying to find a specific string (a name) and replace it with another inside of a VARCHAR(7000) field. Unfortunately, there are names like Ted and Ken that I'm trying to replace. I would like to leave words like Broken, admitted, etc... intact.
UPDATEtbl SETBody = LEFT(REPLACE(tbl.Body, pm.OldFirstName, p.FirstName), 7000) FROM Table tbl JOIN Person p ON p.PersonID = tbl.PersonID JOIN PersonMap pm ON pm.PersonID = p.PersonID AND LEN(pm.OldFirstName) > 2 WHEREtbl.Body LIKE '%[^a-z]'+pm.OldFirstName+'[., ]%
'The problem I'm running into is that the '[, ]%' in the LIKE excludes any record that ends with the FirstName because it is requiring either a space, comma or period after the name. Is there some way to add an empty string to the list of acceptable characters as that would cover any scenario in the data? I would prefer not to add all characters except space, comma and period, but I guess I could do that.
I'd like to find a specific text string searching in all tables within same database. Is there a way to make only one query to all tables at the same time?
Hi all, We have a table that is full text enabled and it is working fine, but the full text search doesn't returns any record for the following case
select * from let_catalog_search where contains(search_field,'"Bulk Process 1*"') even though there exist records that satisfy the condition in the table, the record that i am talking abt is "bulk process 1 with price bp100-ilt1-00200136 bp100-ilt1"
If I remove the last 1 from the search string i get lot of records, Can anybody help me out.
In SQL 2012, this fails with the error message, cannot find the text qualifer for field.
To get around this, we are having to import the data into a Dirty Data column of aTEMP table, ID, Dirty Data, Clean data - perform multiple updates and change the text qualifier and ensure they are only changed in the right places so we can keep the ". In this example, we changed the text qualifier to PIPES.
After these updates, we then export the data from CLEAN data back out to CSV, then reimport it into the origional destination table with a new text qualifer.
I have following query which return me SP/Views and Functions script using:
select DEFINITION FROM .SYS.SQL_MODULESNow, the result looks like Create proc create procedure create proc create view create function
I need its result as:
Alter Procedure Alter Procedure Alter Procedure Alter View Alter Function
I used following
select replace(replace(replace(DEFINITION,'CREATE PROCEDURE','Alter Procedure'), 'create proc','Alter Procedure'),'create view','Alter View') FROM .SYS.SQL_MODULESto but it is checking fixed space like create<space>proc, how can i check if there are two or more spaces in between create view or create proc or create function, it should replace as i want?
Hi guys, I got some problem now with my last e-commerce ASP.net project because there's to many records in my database. right now the website run slower and sometimes very slow esp when doing some search products or members query. Do I need to change server hosting with Itanium processor or not? just for note right now I still using Xeon 1 Ghz. or maybe are there some software tricks to optimize the records for faster access?
I have a uniqueidentifier probleme when i want to execute my sql string. The "PortalID" is my uniqueidentifier passed on my StoredProc parameter. But i cant make it work. It said that i cant add a nvarchar with a uniqueidentifier.!! what is the best way to do it!! i try to convert(nvarchar(40), @PortalID) but its not workingdeclare @sql nvarchar(4000) set @sql = 'select t.[PortalID], t.[City], t.[Name], t.[Code], ts.* from [Hockey_Team_Statistics] ts inner join [Hockey_Teams] t on (t.[TeamID] = ts.[TeamID]) where ts.[SeasonYear] = '+CONVERT(nvarchar(10),@SeasonYear)+' and ts.[LeagueMode] = '+CONVERT(nvarchar(1),@LeagueMode) +'t.[PortalID] = '+@PortalID+'
Hi, I have had this problem for a while and have not been able solve it.
What im looking at doing is looping thru my patient table and trying to organise the patients in to there admission sequence, so when patient "A" comes in and is treated at my hospital and is discharged and admitted to another Hospital within one day then patient "A" will get a code of 1 being there first admission.
then if patient "A" is admitted again but there admission date is greater than one day they get a code of 2 being for there second admission but will need to loop thru table looking for other admissions and discharges.
The table name is Adm_disc_Match_tbl
Basically what i have 4 fields. Index_key = which is the patient common link (text) ur_episode = this wil change for each Hospital (text) Admission_datetime = patient admission date and time (datetime) Discharge_datetime = patient discharge date and time (datetime)
We have quite a strange problem, we have some SP's in our project which is functioning quite well all these days. Suddenly one day we got an error in the SP stating "Invalid Table Name", when we opened the SP and saw in some places the Tablename was replaced with Junk Characters inside the SP !!!!!!!
For Ex: Inside the SP we have the following SELECT query
"SELECT F1 FROM SampleTable"
the above query is getting replaced with
"SELECT F1 FROM SampleTa?le"
The junk character actually appears like a box!!!.. we were absolutely clueless why this was happening. Then if we change the SP once agin and run it starts to execute but only for a short time and the problem comes back once again. When we went through the SQL logs we got this error repeatedly:
"Error: 17805, Severity: 20, State: 3
Invalid buffer received from clients"
We came to know a little about this problem from kb articles in MS that when you are calling an SP from .Net u should specify the parameter data types explicitly and u should not use SQL Client in Finalise method all which we have not done in the application.
Tha SP was using #Table which we replaced to @Tablevariables but still we got the problem once, we are monitoring with the same Table Variables.
We are using SQL Server 2000 SP4. We have got stuck with this problem for days now . Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have a string of characters in my data flow and I need to add a derived column showing the # of times a certain character appears within that string. For example, my string in the data flow is:
NNNNNRJKSURNNNEJNNNN
Now I need to count the number of "N"s in that column. From the example above, I should get the integer 12, and that would be the value of my derived column. Any ideas?
Hi guys, I have a large text that can have some ENTER character inside of it. The problem is that the text must be inserted into a txt file in a single row. So what I need is to find those ENTER character and replace them with a space so as to have the whole string in one row. How can I build that formula in derivide column? Thanks for your help
I have a RPC which gives me multiple - single record rows like
Robert|K|Half|TX|1123823|1423904 -- This is one such record that i get in 1 Column
Now I need to split the above record into 6 Fields and populate in my local DB I know i could use any .NET Language and accomplish this. But Iam limited to using SSIS/T-SQL Proc's
I just want to know how to search text/record inside the Html files. I had one column in my database named €˜Path€™ I saved the html file names in this column and the physical files in a folder. Full Text search is enabled on this column. Whenever I try to search it returns nothing.
Just need one small example to know how it works, what functions used to search inside the files and how.
I have a parameter value as shown below and this is dynamic and can growÂ
Example : 101-NY, 102-CA, 165-GA 116-NY, 258-NJ, 254-PA, 245-DC, 298-AL How do I get the values in the below format NY,CA,GA Â --- each state to be followed with comma and the next state NY,NJ,PA,DC,AL Â --- each state to be followed with comma and the next state
correct query that will fetch  only state names and not the numbers.
Hi, I'm new to ASP.NET 2.0. I have a sqldatasource and a formview controls on a web page and inside the formview control I have two textboxes. When I click the UPDATE button in the formview, I'd like to be able to retrieve the values of the textboxes inside the formview control and pass these values to a 'Update' SQL stored procedure defined in the Sqldatasource. Does anyone know how I can do this? Hope my question is clear. Thanks in advance. hakl
Hi, I have two tables A and B. In table A i have three columns called empid, empname and empsalary where empid is an identity column. Table A has some records filled in it. Table B has the same schema except the fact that the empid is not an identity column in table B. Table B does not contain any rows initially. All other aspects remain the same as that of table A. Now i am going to delete some records in table A based on the empid. When i delete the records in table A based on empid the deleted records should be inserted into table B with the same empid. I need to accomplish these two tasks in a single stored procedure. How to do it? I need the entire code for the stored procedure. Please help me. I am trying for the past 4 days. Thanx in Advance
In the below procedure definition, i need to find a way parse the definition and get the list of places where the where clause is being used.
SELECT DISTINCT FC.CASE_ID, UPPER(FC.CASE_NUMBER) AS CASE_NUMBER, UPPER(REPLACE(FC.CASE_SHORT_TITLE,CHAR(13)+CHAR(10),'')) AS CASE_SHORT_TITLE, FC.CASE_STATUS_DESCR, FC.CASE_TYP_DESC, FC.CASE_SUB_TYP_DESC,
[Code] ....
In the above query there are more than one places and the where clause may not have the same string the where clause it can be with a space between the "=" and the value in single quotes.
Result set should be in the below format:
TABLE NAME Column Name VALUE CFG_ELEMENTS ELEMENT_NAME REPORT_CONSOLIDATEDCASES_CASERELATEDTYPID
I have a text field which has entries of variable length of the form:
"house:app.apx&resultid=1234,clientip" or "tost:app.apx&resultid=123,clientip" or "airplane:app.apx&resultid=123489,clientip"
I'm trying to pick out the numbers between resultid='...',clientip no matter what the rest of the string looks like. So in this example it would be the numbers:
1234 123 12389
the part of the string of the form resultid='...',clientip always stays the same except the length of the number can vary.
how can i insert a carriage return when i update the field?
say i want to put the following inside a field: firstline secondline
how can i update/insert a column to have a return carriage inside it? UPDATE table SET column = 'firstline secondline'
the reason i want this is because when using a program (Solomon, by microsoft, purchasing software) to grab a field out of the database and when it displays that field in the programs textbox, i want it to be displayed on two separate lines
i tried doing UPDATE table SET column = 'firstline' + char(13) 'secondline'
but when in the solomon program, it displays an ascii character between firstline and secondline like: firstline||secondline
I'm looking for a way of taking a query which returns a set of date time fields (probable maximum of 20 rows) and looping through each value to see if it exists in a separate table.
E.g.
Query 1
Select ID, Person, ProposedEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyOptions where person = 'me'
Table
Select Person, ExistingEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyTimetable where person ='me'
Loop through Query 1 and if it finds ANY matching Dayfield AND Timefield in Query/Table 2, return the ProposedEvent (just as a message, the loop could stop there), if no match a message saying all is fine can proceed to process form blah blah.
I'm essentially wanting somebody to select a bunch of events in a form, query 1 then finds all the days and times those events happen and check that none of them exist in the MyTimetable table.
I have the table below, and I am trying to retrieve TileIDs that have the same ModelIDs.
ModelID TileID HP DL380 G3 120v Dual15400 HP DL380 G3 120v Dual15400 HP DL380 G3 120v Dual15400 HP DL380 G3 120v Dual15400 HP DL380 G3 120v Dual15400 HP DL380 G3 120v Dual15400 Sun SF 280R 120v 15401 Sun SF 280R 120v 15401 Sun SF 280R 120v 15401 Sun SF 280R 120v 15401 Lantronix MSS4 15401
So TileID ‘15400’ would be a keeper, since all ModelIDs are the same.
I have a visual studio 2005 app that has to match strings to something in a database. It works wonderfully until a string shows up with an & in it (so "this & that") The app wont find anything even though it should, the same query that is made in VS works just fine in enterprise manager I tried a replace on the & with the chr(), hex, and html reference for & and none of those work. We tried using different methods in VS to do the sql statement and commands. The statement surrounds the string with single quotes. If we take the & out, everything works fine. Turned off request valadation just in case. Any ideas?????
Hi All, I am trying to find records when searchProductCount = 2 AND when searchProductCount < 2 BUT productID not in (select pid from TableB) ... I have the query below ... but is there any other better way to do this? TableB has IDs: 100, 700 ...etc eg: searchProduct ID is 50,100 -- means returns everything when we found ALL productID (50,100) from TableA, count =2 Select productName, productID from TableA where searchProductCount = 2 AND productID IN (50,100) union all -- when not all productID found in TableA, we only return productsID from TableA which ID found in TableB, count < 2 Select productName, productID from TableA where searchProductCount < 2 and productID IN (select pid from TableB) -- in this case, pid found in TableB from searchProductID will be 100 ------------------------------------------------------------------ it comes out there are duplicates results (when first query is valid, we union all second query, so we have duplicates records). How can we eliminate the duplicates? Or is there better way to acheive this without using union all?
