I have an app that connects to sqlepress. When run the field are loaded from the db. There are some fields that I don't want some of the users to see. Is there a way to do this without hardcoding the 'username' in the applicaton ?
I looked at the explicit permissions for username for the particular table, but I don't understand some of the terms listed.
I have some sensitive and non-sensitive info/fields in one of my reports. Is there a way to hide/show the info based on the logged in user? or do I have to create separte reports for each type of info like one for sensitive and another one for non-sensitive info.
I m using ASP.NET 2005 with VB,C#. I m using GridView to display the data.
My problem is with the database field date. I want to use only the date and the fields are manufacturing date and expiry date of some items. But,in the gridview it displays the time which is by default same for all the entries which 12:00A.M.
I have used date picker for designing.
What should be the validation for showing only the date and not the time ?? How to hide the time from the gridview. I m using SQL Server 2005 to store database where i have selected the datatype as date/time.
I am creating a report with a Matrix and this report contain a collapse Matrix which it toggle from a certain field.
Now I am having two issue:First issue is that when I set visibility to hide and that the matrix can be toggle by a field is leaving a very unaesthetic space between rows.
The second problem is that when I toggle the field I would like another part of the report to hide.
Does it exists anything that would allow me to define an expression I can use in the visibility that I Can use to make disappear this part of the report when the + has been toggle and make it appear back when the - has been toggle?
Do we have any way of hiding SDF file from end-user? When we are installing our application on user's machine, we have to keep SDF file somewhere but anyone who knows about SDF file can open that file in management studio and that exposes our database structure. Is there a workaround for this ? How can we prevent visibility of SDF file ?
Hello, I am working on a project that involves one part where a field's value needs to be changed when the user updates the record. Here is the situation in detail: There is an InputData table where the user enters new records or changes existing records. There is a field called "calculated" in this table which has a default value of 'no'. A stored procedure runs math calculations on all the InputData records where the calculated field = 'no'. At the end of this stored procedure, it sets the calculated field = 'yes'. When new records are added by the user their "calculated" field value is 'no' by default so that the next time the stored procedure is executed, it only runs the math calculations on the new records. The problem is, if a user changes an existing record, the "calculated" field needs to be changed from 'yes' to 'no' so that the stored procedure recalculates the math for the modified record. How do I change the value from 'yes' to 'no' on records that the user modifies? Thanks.
How do I insert the UserName of the Logged in user into the DB field UserID. I created a web form page, and added a form view control set the page default to Insert Mode. The Page is used to insert data. I have a hidden field called UserID that I would like to capture the Logged in user. I have logged in to the default page with userID and password, added a new record, and the db table field UserID is empty. I have been trying to figure out what I am doing worng, but no luck, Please suggest the best way to do this. I have listed what I have done thus far? I have added the login Control from Login and added it to the page as a hidden field thinking that I needed to have this field on the page to get this to work where you copy the value in the Loginname field to the useridTextbox on the formview1 insert template. I read on line where the method below is better. Please tell me what I am doint wrong. In Access, I use [Enter Date] in the Criteria field of the Query. I tried the same thing in SQL Server in the Criteria field of the View and it does not recognize this. Is there a comparable command in SQL to get user input into the Criteria field of a view?
Is there a way to adjust a date and time depending on the users locale before inserting into the database?
Users login in and their country of residence is stored in the database on signup. My server is in the US and I want to reset part of the users db record when it's the end of the day in their country so I need to enter the date and time into the db plus or minus the time difference, is there a function written to do this already or would i need to write my own?
I am working with a vendor application called Cisco Unified Attendant Console - it operates on a Windows server with a SQL express database. The CUPs function of the application needs to reference a "contact" field with only the user portion of the contact's email address - generally, the contact's User ID will match the user portion of their email address, however, for this customer it does not (they use the employee number as the User ID and firstname.lastname as user portion of the email address.
Writing a script to accomplish the following:
The dbo.Contact_Properties table of the ATTCFG database has the following fields that we can work with:
- First_Name - Last_Name - Email - User_Field_2 - Contact_Unique_Ref (appears to be the field that ties all other contact tables together ?)
Is it possible to create a script that could run daily to either, combine the First_Name and Last_Name fields (with a period between) and populate the User_Field_2 field for each user, or populate the User_Field_2 field with everything before the @ symbol in the Email field for each user?
Also, by default the servers that this application is installed on does not have SQL Server Management Studio installed - is it possible to accomplish with PowerShell script triggered from the Windows Scheduler?
This is my first time to deploy an asp.net2 web site. Everything is working fine on my local computer but when i published the web site on a remote computer i get the error "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed" (only in pages that try to access the database) Help pleaseee
In my web application I am using SQL Server 2000. But as we all know, its presence in the network is visible to all the clients in the network. Anybody who has SQL Server client installed and knows the password of the database would be able to access DB remotely and this is what I don't want. I want user to access my database only when they are loggedon on physically (directly) on the machine on which SQL Server is installed.
Configuration: Windows2000 , SQL7 Three people have administrative priveleges (with priveleges Enterprise admins) There is special DB in SQL7 Some tables should be hidden from 2 admins (they should be unable to read information from these tables) Is it possible? And if it is possible, How to do it? Thank you very much Merry Christmas Happy New Year Seasons greetings
I have a dimension named Products with the following hierarchy:
Type Sub Type Product
Due to requirements I want that a particular product, whose name is, say, "XYZ" should not be displayed when the user drills down to the lowest level i.e. the Product level.
I tried playing with the Advanced Properties tab but could not make any progress and thus will be grateful for help.
Hi, Is it is possible to hide some parameters in report? Also it should be possible to pass values to this hidden parameters from the application. When I did this through Report Manager, some error message like ' the parameter 'XXXX' is read-only. ....' appears.
Hello Everyone. I need help again. I have a reports made in VS business intelligence project with a lot of parameters. So it means it automatically creates textboxes of that parameters. I want to hide those textboxes. Pls help.
I want to make a Report with attractive selection parameters. That I mean, there is a parameter, Tparam (Time Param) which will activate other parameters (3 parameters: TimeA_1, TimeA_2 & TimeA_3. These selection values have been registered in the "Aviable values => non-queried".)
when Tparam selected TimeA_1 then Parameter for TimeA_1 will activated (and the others will be disappeared/hidden), vice versa for the other control (TimeA_2 & TimeA_3)
I have a rectangle which contains a chart. Most of the time, the chart has data, so the rectangle should be visible. Sometimes, however, the chart may have no data (zero records). In that case, I would like to hide the rectangle.
Is there any way to "query" data from the report's recordset to see if a certain condition is true.. if so, use that to control the visiblity of the rectangle?
I have one column in the recordset that has many values... the chart will only display data if certain values are returned in the recordset.
I am currently working on a rather simple report, it cosists of a table with two columns The first column contains Employee Names, and the second column contials details of what the have worked on I have made the second column invisible, and can be made visible when the eployee name column is expanded. The problem that i am having is that when the second column is collapesed, it still leaves whitespace, in the first column, of how ever many rows that are contained in the second column, is there a way, I can get rid of that whitespace?
I'm creating a report that is grouping the rows per year and month, as it does this there are certain rows that show up that I would like to hide since the value in one of the columns is < = 0. For the purpose of my report I don't needs these rows to be illustrated. How can I do this?
I pull back all the data in a single query and the result looks like this...
Item Shipped OnHand PO# DueDate POQty
1234 0 0 111 8/01/07 12
1234 0 0 222 8/08/07 12
1234 0 0 333 8/16/07 12
2345 4 0 444 8/04/07 24
Now I can use the Hide Duplicates property to fix the Item column since the query groups on item guaranteeing uniqueness. But that won't work for the Shipped and OnHand columns because adjacent items may have the same Shipped and OnHand totals. How do I hide the Shipped and OnHand values if and only if the Item is the same? Is this really a problem of hiding duplicates or do I need to break apart my query or find a sub-reporting solution?
Hello, I would like to not have to see the aspnet_ tables and stored procedures that are created when using the Membership, roles, and personalization. Currently I have to suffer seeing the handful of tables and 40+ stored procedures in both the Visual Studio and the SQL Management tool. I have found that on a 2000 SQL Server I can execute a command that forces objects to be created as system objects. If I execute this before creating the objects they become system objects and I don't have to see them any longer. However, this trick does not work in SQL Server 2005. So, I would like to know either 1) is there an easy way to hide these objects or 2) is there a way to change the objects to system objects in SQL Server 2005? CodeGuy
