Hide Aspnet_* Objects
Nov 23, 2007Hello, I would like to not have to see the aspnet_ tables and stored procedures that are created when using the Membership, roles, and personalization. Currently I have to suffer seeing the handful of tables and 40+ stored procedures in both the Visual Studio and the SQL Management tool. I have found that on a 2000 SQL Server I can execute a command that forces objects to be created as system objects. If I execute this before creating the objects they become system objects and I don't have to see them any longer. However, this trick does not work in SQL Server 2005. So, I would like to know either 1) is there an easy way to hide these objects or 2) is there a way to change the objects to system objects in SQL Server 2005? CodeGuy

Hello Folks,
Sorry to have to ask this as it may be easier than what I'm thinking.
I have a menu down the left side of my main report. Previously this menu navigated to their associated reports, however I'm sampling the idea of having all the reports as subreports in the mainreport, then clicking a button on my menu to only show the subreport I'm interested, and hide the rest. They're layered on top of each other so it looks like I'm navigating to a new page, even though I'm not.
I've set up parameters to control the visibility of each subreport object which works when the parameter value is changed manually, however, I don't know how to create a button (textbox) to change the value of that parameter (or in this case, all the parameters that control the visibility of the objects). I don't want to have to use the integrated UI to change the parameter directly, although I know this would probably work.
Quick summary :
User clicks 'Server Details' Button
ServerDetails.rdl subreport is set to visible
DriveDetails.rdl subreport is set to invisible
DatabaseDetails.rdl subreport is set to invisible
I realise I'll probably have to code a refresh in IF I can get the above to work

Determining What Are System Objects In Sp_help Or System Tables
Jul 20, 2005Hi,I have a few things on my databases which seem to be neither true systemobjects or user objects - notably a table called 'dtproperties' (createdby Enterprise manager as I understand, relating to relationship graphingor something) and some stored procs begining with "dt_" (some kind ofsource control stuff, possible visual studio related). These show up whenI use"exec sp_help 'databaseName'"but not in Ent. Mgr. or in Query Analyzer's object browser, and also notin a third party tool I use called AdeptSQL. I am wondering how thosetools know to differentiate between these types of quasi-system objects,and my real user data. (This is for the purpose of a customized schemagenerator I am writing). I'd prefer to determine this info with systemstored procs (ie sp_help, sp_helptex, sp_...etc) but will dip into thesystem tables if needed.Thanks,Dave

I've recently installed MSQL Server 7.0 Standart Version and every time I create a new database, system tables are created and are visible also. That means, I instantely get 18 tables, 20 views, 18 stored procedures and so on. Can I hide them??? I mean, my tables are all mixed with the system tables. If I can hide all the system tables and views and so on please tell me! Thanks.
Hide System Tables From Users?
Mar 7, 2008How can I hide the system tables (sys and INFORMATION_SCHEMA) from users? I am not talking about Management Studio. We have users who access the database with ODBC and I do not want them to see all these system tables.
I have created a Hide_System_Tables role and added users to it. I have tried denying all the permissions to this role, but they still see it. Oddly enough, in the INFORMATION_SCHEMA permissions, it shows access from grantors of INFORMATION_SCHEMA and dbo. I cannot deny permission for the entries with dbo as grantor.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I have to go to remove all the places that give users access to these tables?

System Objects Problem
May 4, 2007I wonder if anyone can help ...Today I tried to create another non-clustered index on a table. Thisfailed as I apparently already had 249 non-clustered indexex on thetable. Looking at the definition of the table there were 90 or soindexes already defined and not 249. (For those of you who quiterightly think 90 indexes on a table is a little over the top, I hastento add that this is a third party CRM system called "Siebel" which comeswith it's own database). However, examining the sysindexes systemcatalog I find that there are indeed 249 entries, but that many(possibly all) of them have names of the following type:'_WA_Sys_XYZ_356BF102'where 'XYZ' is a column on the table in question.Looking at the same database across our DEV/TEST/PROD environments Inotice that these system like index entries are not consistant. Thenames and number of entries differ. I've tried creating a new tablefrom a script generated in EM and no such indexes/system objects arecreated.I'm confused. What are these things. I can't drop them, sp_helpindexdoesn't refer to them. Examining the sysindexes/sysindexkeys catalogsappears to suggect that the indexes have columns but no rows/entries.I've got around the immediate problem by deleting one of these entriesfrom sysindexes and I've been able to create the index I wanted. Dec 12, 2006I'm looking for a tool or script that can wipe a database clean of any and all user configured service broker objects.
I've got two environments, Development and QA, that I need to have parallel service broker configurations. Each environment is hosted on a different set of servers. I need to make sure the Development environment looks exactly like the QA environment from a Service Broker perspective (other than the specific service broker instance references in the installed routes). I've got a script to build the objects that I want, but the Development environment is full of artifacts of abandoned experiments. Before running the creation script in Development, I'd like to start with a clean slate. Recreating the Development databases is not an option.
If a tool or script is not available, I know I need to adress at least the following object types, but I'm not sure if this list covers everything or in which order I need to drop which objects: routes, remote service bindings, certificates, database principals, tcp endpoints, services, queues, contracts, and message types

Identifying Difference Btwn System And User Objects??
Mar 17, 2000Does anyone know the logic that Enterprise Manager/SQL Server uses to distinguish system objects from user objects. I've looked through all the sysobjects in the database and there doesn't seem to be any unique logic for seperating all objects. User tables are easily distinguished from system tables (U/S) but thats not the case with stored procedures and views. I'm looking for suggestions...

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: System Objects Could Not Be Updated In Database X Because It Is Read-only
Jul 27, 2015We installed SP1 for SQL Server 2014 this past weekend and got this error message in the logs. I found that if you set the db to read-write, it updates the system objects, even after SP1 has completed. Then you can set it back to read-only. I'm just posting this so other people can find it on the internet, as I wasn't able to find it specifically.
Error Log Entry:System objects could not be updated in database 'x' because it is read-only.
Problem: After installing SP1 for SQL Server 2014 you will find this message in the error logs saying read-only databases could not be updated.
Solution: Simply set the db to read-write and the system objects will get updated, long after SP1 was installed.
ALTER DATABASE [x] SET READ_WRITE WITH NO_WAIT
Then set it back to read-only:
ALTER DATABASE [x] SET READ_ONLY WITH NO_WAIT
You should then see these log entries:
System objects could not be updated in database 'x' because it is read-only.
Setting database option READ_WRITE to ON for database 'x'.
Starting up database 'x'.
CHECKDB for database 'x' finished without errors on 2015-07-25 01:02:28.143 (local time). This is an informational message only; no user action is required.
Synchronize Database 'x' (129) with Resource Database.
Setting database option READ_ONLY to ON for database 'x'.
Starting up database 'x'.

However, in my limited use of XML data I am not so sure how to link the data when I have a dependency on another "object" within the serialised XML.

when i go to http://servername/reports , the UIlogon.aspx page loads fine and i enter username and password. but i get logon failed.
when i go to http://servername/reportserver , the logon.aspx does not load and i get the following error message :

Apr 3, 2007Ok guys, I am trying to install Sql server 2005 on Vista but I am still stuck with this warning message in the System Configuration Check during Sql server 2K5 installation :

Now, I know I need to install SP2 but how the hell I am going to install SP2 if Sql server 2005 doesn't install any of the components including Sql server Database services, Analysus services, Reporting integration services( only the workstation component is available for installation)?
Any work around for this issue?
P.S.: I didn't install VS.NET 2005 yet, can this solve the problem?

In my web application I am using SQL Server 2000. But as we all know, its presence in the network is visible to all the clients in the network. Anybody who has SQL Server client installed and knows the password of the database would be able to access DB remotely and this is what I don't want. I want user to access my database only when they are loggedon on physically (directly) on the machine on which SQL Server is installed.

There is special DB in SQL7
Some tables should be hidden from 2 admins (they should be unable to read information from these tables)

Is it is possible to hide some parameters in report? Also it should be possible to pass values to this hidden parameters from the application. When I did this through Report Manager, some error message like ' the parameter 'XXXX' is read-only. ....' appears.

How To Hide Subtotal

I have a matrix with subtotal.
I want to hide or show the subtotal by a parameter.
The header of the subtotal is not a problem since it have the "visibility" property.
The problem is that when I'm clicking on the green rectangle to go to the subtotal area itself - It doesn't have the "visibility" property.
So I don't see the header but I see the subtotal date itself.
Any idea on how to resolve this?
