In my SSIS project I am populating an Excel spreadsheet with several worksheets. When I define a worksheet in Excel Destination Editor, I use Create Table SQL statement to create a worksheet. Most of the fields are defined as numbers, however when job runs my numeric fields appear as text in Excel with yellow warning sign - 'The number in this cell is formatted as text or preceeded by an apostrophe'. I need my numbers to appear as numbers. Is there a workaround for this?
As part of my SSIS package I have a script task, that set its result based on the value of a package variable. From this task I have two precedence constraints, a sucess constrain and failure constraint that lead to two different tasks.
When the script task ends with a success result, the task that is connected by the success constraint is initiated, but when the script task ends with a failure result, it is marked with red color and the execution of the whole package stops (the next task that is connected by the failure constraint is not initiated).
All tasks are assigned with False to the properties: FailPackageOnFailure & FailParentOnFailure
(1) contains a for loop task (in which all the logic is contained) that loops through a particular folder for excel files WITHIN THE FOR LOOP: (2) pulls data from an excel file into SQL Tables(Data Transformation Task) (3) run stored proc to validate data (Execute SQL TASK) (4)ON SUCCESS of executing the SQL Task (Script Task - move file to success or reject folder based on value returned from sproc) (5)ON FAILURE of executing the stored proc (Script Task - move file to bad format failure)
NOTE: I have modified the MaximumErrorcount property of (1 FOR LOOP) and (3 EXECUTE SQL TASK) and the package itself to 0. In order to deal with badly formatted excel files...I do not want the package to stop for every missing tab in excel file or data entry error. I simply want the badly formatted file to be moved to a special folder
PROBLEM: on failure logic is never executed (I have 2 options after step (3)) on success do step (4) on failure do step (5) step (3) fails...then it simply iterates to the next file step 5 is never executed
Is this because I changed the maximumerrorcount property? What am I doing wrong witht he Precendence Logic?
I have a SSIS pkg that gets data from SQL and do data conversion and Insert into OLE db AS400 destination, There is a flag column in SQL table , that has to be updated to true, once the records are inserted in AS400 how do i do that in SSIS
SQL oledb ---------> dataConversion ---------------> AS400 OLE db Destination | update SQL table Flag column<---------------------------------|
We are using SQL CE 3.5 on tablet PCs, that synchs with our host SQL 2005 Server using Microsoft Synchronization Services. On the tablets, when inserting a record, we get the following error: A duplicate value cannot be inserted into a unique index. [ Table name = refRegTitle,Constraint name = PK_refRegTitle But the only PK on this table is RegTitleID.
The table structure is: [RegTitleID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [RegTitleNumber] [int] NOT NULL, [RegTitleDescription] [varchar](200) NOT NULL, [FacilityTypeID] [int] NOT NULL, [Active] [bit] NOT NULL,
The problem occurs when a Title Number is inserted and a record with that number already exists. There is no unique constraint on Title Number. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm using 2 OLE DB Commands; 1 to perform an insert the other an update. I have found that on the column mapping tab, I only have 10 parameters available to map to. The issue is I need 40 parameters. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I am missing? Is there another way to do this? Am I out of luck . Here is the sql query I am using, so you can see that I have the correct number of parameters listed:
I have a SSIS package that reads data from a dump table, runs a custom script that takes date data and converts it to the correct format or nulls and formats amt fields to currency, then inserts it to a new table. The new table redirects insert errors. This process worked fine until about 3 weeks ago. I am processing just under 6 million rows, with 460,000 or so insert errors that did give error column and code.
Now, I am getting 1.5 million errors. and nothing has changed, to my knowledge. I receive the following information.
Error Code -1071607685 Error Column 0 Error Desc No status is available.
The only thing I can find for the above error code is
DTS_E_OLEDBDESTINATIONADAPTERSTATIC_UNAVAILABLE
To add to the confusion, I can not see any errors in the data written to the error table. It appears that after a certain point is reached in the processing, everything, or most records, error out.
I'm trying to create a simple Data transfermation. I have a flat file that came of a unix server.. it's 177 bytes wide.. thought it was 175, but when I created the flat file connector, I could see some extra characters on the end.
My output is going to be an excel spreadsheet, I only want two columns from the input. I created an oledb jet 4.0 connection. and followed instructions from here :
On my first attempt to dataflow, I ran into unicode errors and had to do this:

I have a table called subscribers with the following fields CustID (identity)email (text) fname (text)lname (text) - may be emptysubDate (smalldate)Confirmed (boolean) - initially will be emptyConDate (smalldate) - initially will be empty I have a strongly typed dataset that contains only the one table. It has the method GetDataByIsSubscribed SELECT emailFROM SubscribersWHERE (email = @email) And I have a function which calls it Public Function ValSubscribe(ByVal vEmailAddr As String, ByVal vFName As String, ByVal vLName As String) As String Dim SubscriptionAdapter As New EmailSubscriptionsTableAdapters.SubscribersTableAdapter Dim dF As Data.DataTable = SubscriptionAdapter.GetDataByIsSubscribed(vEmailAddr) If dF.Rows.Count > 0 Then ValSubscribe = "This email address is already subscribed!" Else SubscriptionAdapter.InsertSubscriber(vEmailAddr, vFName, vLName, Now) ValSubscribe = "success" End IfEnd Function This is an existing table that contains duplicate email addresses, but I don't want to add any more dups. You can see I have another method to add records, which works fine, though I've only tried to add email addresses that I know aren't in the table. If I run the above code which first checks to see if an email address is in the table, and I use an email address that is, I get the following error System.Data.ConstraintException was unhandled by user code Message="Failed to enable constraints. All the fields except CustID allow nulls. There are no foreign-keys, and I don't see where any fild by custID requires unique entries. If I run the query in the designer, I don't have a problem. What am I missing? Diane
hi guys, i have a query that returns a column data with a Distinct constraint. it works fine when i preview data in the table. but when i call it from my application i keep following error Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.
I am getting the following message when I am trying to insert into my table. Request is the primary keys and the Bus_Req_Id and Test_Case_Id are both foreign keys. The data that is being inserted into these fields are not unique.
This is the exact error message:
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_REQUEST_BUS_REQ_TST'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'REQUEST_BUS_REQ_TST'. The statement has been terminated.
I am trying to insert 700 - 900 rows based on certain criteria. If I delete the keys the inserts will work.
Any help would be most greatful. Thank you in advance
Hi all, I'm new here so I hope this is the right place to post!!
I'm having a really big problem trying to make a table. I'm not new to the coding, but I'm no expert either.... as far as I can see I haven't done anything wrong...
I have many tables, but the first two are JobDetails and Promotions... in JobDetails, there is a primary key Job which needs to link to Promotions as a foreign key.... here is my code and errors, I'd really appreciate some help...
create table JOBDETAIL (Job varchar2(15) primary key, Dept varchar2(10) not null, Salary number(7) not null);
Hi.I have a procedure with this in it (there are no other references toasset_number_bak_tmp_pk in the procedure and it calls nothing else written byme, just system calls or normal dml).create table #asset_bak(asset_number varchar(60) not null,asset_desc varchar(100) null,location varchar(40) null,constraint asset_number_bak_tmp_pk primary key clustered (asset_number))When I run the procedure, I get this message:(1 row(s) affected)Msg 2714, Level 16, State 4, Procedure updatenavharrierdb, Line 19There is already an object named 'asset_number_bak_tmp_pk' in the database.Msg 1750, Level 16, State 0, Procedure updatenavharrierdb, Line 19Could not create constraint. See previous errors.How can I find where else the system thinks this constraint exists?I tried this but it only finds it in one place (one row in the result set),i.e. my procedure:select sysobjects.name, syscomments.textfrom sysobjects, syscommentswhere sysobjects.id = syscomments.id and((lower(sysobjects.name) like '%asset_number_bak_tmp_pk%') or(lower(syscomments.text) like '%asset_number_bak_tmp_pk%'))Is this somehow a case where I need to do something dynamically, or purge someinformation? I thought temp tables and their crony constraints disappearedafter the procedure exited.thanksJeff Kish
Hi, i have two tables, one is department-Table(Master table) and other is employee-table(Child table). DNO is a data field which is common in both the table. "DNO" is primary key in department-table and "DNO" is foreign key in child table.
I am trying to insert rows in the table i found the following error:
The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_Employee_Department". The conflict occurred in database "Project", table "dbo.Department", column 'Dno'.
This query keeps giving me a Primary Key violation error and I am not sure what it is getting at. maybe you can help?

I just this day started using SQL sever 2005. I created a database and then created a table. Then I started adding some fields. I wanted to add a check constraint to one of the fields called state but I keep getting the same error. I right click on the field while editing the table and select check constraint. I then click add on the check constraint dialogue and in the expression caption I input the following:
<code>
@State In('CA', 'AZ', 'UT', 'CO')
</code>
I am using a book and have straight copied the above example from the book. However when I input the check constraint I get the following error;
"Error validating constraint 'ck_myfirstdatabase'
I have tried this with other fields and other types of check constraints and I still get the same error. I have tried to delete the database and recreate it. I have tried everything I can think of and I cannot seem to get check constraints to work. I have no idea why I keep getting this message. I have checked the examples a thousand times, the syntax is definately correct. This is getting extremely annoying as I cannot continue unless I do this. I'm all out of ideas. Can anyone please tell me why it could not be working? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I ran the below INSERT COMMAND and it resulted into the following error message.You can also see the table structure below.Those are the only two tables that reference the Artist table.
SET IDENTITY_INSERT dbo.ARTIST ON INSERT INTO ARTIST (ArtistID,LastName,FirstName,Nationality,DateOfBirth,DateDeceased) VALUES(1, 'Miro', 'Joan', 'Spanish', 1893, 1983);
I am trying to create table with following SQL script:
Code Snippet
create table Projects( ID smallint identity (0, 1) constraint PK_Projects primary key, Name nvarchar (255) constraint NN_Prj_Name not null, Creator nvarchar (255), CreateDate datetime );
When I execute this script I get following error message:
Error source: SQL Server Compact ADO.NET Data Provider Error message: Named Constraint is not supported for this type of constraint. [ Constraint Name = NN_Prj_Name ]
I looked in the SQL Server Books Online and saw following:
CREATE TABLE (SQL Server Compact) ... < column_constraint > ::= [ CONSTRAINT constraint_name ] { [ NULL | NOT NULL ] | [ PRIMARY KEY | UNIQUE ] | REFERENCES ref_table [ ( ref_column ) ] [ ON DELETE { CASCADE | NO ACTION } ] [ ON UPDATE { CASCADE | NO ACTION } ]
As I understand according to documentation named constraints should be supported, however error message says opposite. I can rephrase SQL script by removing named constraint.
Code Snippet
create table Projects( ID smallint identity (0, 1) constraint PK_Projects primary key, Name nvarchar (255) not null, Creator nvarchar (255), CreateDate datetime ); This script executes correctly, however I want named constraints and this does not satisfy me.
I get the following error on my OLE DB Destination: column"Oprcode" cannot convert between unicode & non-unicode string data type. Please Assist on what i should do!
I get an error when I try to use a SQL Server Destination. I want to use this because its performance, before I've used OLE DB Destination. The idea is that I put data from a table or SQL statement and that I put that in a table using SQL Server Destination. Now the SQL server stands on different server then where my SSIS is saved. I'm not using my windows credentials ( safety reasons ). The message I get is standing below:
[SQL Server Destination [905]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E14. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E14 Description: "Could not bulk load because SSIS file mapping object 'GlobalDTSQLIMPORT ' could not be opened. Hi, I'm storing errorcode and errorcolumn values in a separate table called errorrows, I am using the standard ssis add-on reporting package including the logging database.
When using the OLE DB destination adapter I would like to log the error message (reason). These kind of messages are OLE DB specific and won't be logged in my standard logging (error rows and package logging).
Is it possible to catch the ole DB error message so I'm able to log it?
I was using OLE DB DESTINATION and after going to Sql Server Destination task:
[SQL Server Destination [11259]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. I know how to setup the components to redirect error rows. Unfortunately, you can only redirect error rows coming through a transform. The only ones you can actually redirect going from a transform to a data destination are things like violations of a primary/foreign key. However, redirection does not work if you have a row come through a transform to a destination and the error is a constraint violation like trying to stick a null into a not null column. This simply makes the entire thing fail and shut down instead of redirecting just the row which failed.
This is the specific case. I have a really messed up inbound file. The file is pipe delimited and at least every row is the same length. I bring the file in and shove the entire file through a derived column task to explicitly calculate nulls since I can't get the convert data task to handle it and I didn't want to rewire the entire package. From there the data flows into my first conditional split where I look at the 4th column of data and split off the rows for a specific record type. These rows flow through a convert data task to do the data type conversion specific to that record type and then flow into an OLE DB destination adapter. The remaining rows flow down into a derived column transform to do some additional scrubbing for the remaining record types. From there, it flows into a conditional split to split the records out 16 ways based on the value in the 4th column, with anything not matching being dumped back to an error file for someone to look at. Each leg of the conditional split sends the row through a convert data task to convert the data to the data types specific to that given record type. I have error files setup for each of these off the convert data task which redirect any row that fails conversion. This redirects any row which doesn't convert properly. It also succeeds in redirecting any row which violates a primary or foreign key constraint. However, it does not handle those cases where the inbound file had a null when the column within the database does not allow a null. In those cases, the entire thing simply fails and then we have to grab the error and have someone page through thousands of lines of the input file to try to find the row which had a problem. What I really need to be able to do is configure the OLEDB Destination Adapter to redirect any rows which throw an error when they hit the database, unfortunately, you can't do this because a detsination adapater doesn't have any output (even though there is a place to configure errors with redirect being an option).
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can setup an error redirection to redirect ONLY those rows which are rejected, because the inbound file has a NULL where it shouldn't? Please don't tell me that I have to set something up to test every single column, because we are talking about over 2,000 columns which would need to be checked.
I am getting the following error on a FuzzyLookup transformation. I have 1,000 rows in the source table and 331,580 rows in the reference table. Both tables are in the same SQL2005 db on my local machine. Any ideas?

Good day, I'm working with SSIS on SQL Server 2005 and trying to update a table with a OLEDB Destination. The table I'm updating does not accept Null values. I've tried to update the table in several ways.
Using a "Table or view - Fast Load " Data Access Mode. I get the can't load data due to "Null values are not accepted in field xyz"
Using SQL Command text. Used the isnull function on all null fields and the "Failure inserting into the Read Only Column xyz"
I've check the properties of the table I'm writing to. I've check my user credentials.
Can any of you shed some light on what I'm missing.
I send my error output (errorcode , errorcolumn) of an Ole DB destination to another Ole DB destination. How do I know which errordescription belongs to an errorcode. For example errorcode "-1071607683"?
