i had create my database with arabic collation and save my forms with unicode
but that problem exists

I am using the SSIS import/export wizard to import an Access table into a sql server 2005 database. The table has fields in Arabic (name, last name, etc.) and non-Arabic fields (gender, phone number, category, etc.).
The destination table has nvarchar columns.
After the import, I can see the Arabic characters in the destination table, but they appear in inverse order (from left to right). In Access (or Excel), Arabic fields appear as they should (from right to left) and non-Arabic fields are OK as well (from left to right).
If I do a simple copy-and-paste of a "correct" Arabic text into the table, the result is still wrong (inversed letters)...
Please help, I can't see what else to do.

Hello there, I'm trying to use the full text search feature in SQL server 2000, when I search in arabic language I got a message telling that I'm searching for an ignored word the errore message I receive is:

I have tried to configure the SQL server settings, I added the following code in the functions:

I need your help guys. Am devolving a windows application by c#. I have problem of insert Arabic text to sql express 2005. I always get ???? instead of the Arabic letters. I change the collation of the database field to windows collation and choose Arabic but still I get the same problem.

I want to perform Full Text Search with SQL Server 2000. My documents (.doc, .xls, .txt, .pdf) are stored in a SQL Server field which is binary (the type of the column is image).
I would like to know, how you can extract pieces of text from the documents.
Example:
I have a ASPX page with codebehind in C# making the search in a table in SQL server that is full text indexed.
I make a search looking for the word "peace", than SQL server will take care about the search and return it to me the rows that match with that. But also I'd like to extract the 50 characters before and after where sql server found the word "peace" to show in the result page.
Does anyone has any idea how to work around it ?

Is there an easy way to do this through Management Studio or Enterprise Manager? Or will we have to export the data from the 2005 database to a flat file and import it into a new 2000 database. And then do the merge?

For some reason I can't use the edit, update or insert features on my remote shared server, so I am looking to create a web page that has text boxes on it, that I can enter data into, that will be saved into my database.
This is opposed to entering the data directly into the database itself. I want to be able to use a webpage, for simply adding new data, and saving it so that the new data updates and saves over the top of the old data.
What are the steps involved in doing this?
Any example code for just one text box would be appreciated, I could then extend it to suit my needs. Tia.

I've just tried it and able to do this successfully.
I basically did this:
load the RTF into the RTB control
created a SQL command, simple basic insert statement:

I've created a small company database where the tables reside in a SQLServer database. I'm using Access 2000 forms for a front end.I've got a System DSN set-up to SQL Server and am using links withinAccess 2000 to get to the SQL Server tables.My forms worked fine until I made a few minor changes to the databaseschema on SQL Server (e.g. added a foreign key, or added a column).After that, all the links break - I click on a table link and get anerror msg like "invalid object name."Deleting the links after a schema change and re-adding the links seemedto fix the problem. The forms I'd already created seemed to work fineafter re-creating the links.But then I got more advanced with my forms. I have it set up so thatfor certain entry fields, the combobox gets populated with values froma table (the description appears in the drop-down and the correspondingprimary key value gets populated in the table). I created a number offorms using this technique, entered data, and everything worked fine.Made a small schema change and it broke everything -- not the actualtable links, but the functionality for the drop-downs. My values nolonger appeared, and this was true for forms that accessed tables whoseschemas did not change.This is driving me nuts. I change my regional settings of the operating system is arabic (platform vista).

I'm developing a credit card application, and would like to store some sensitive data in a table temporarily, but be absolutely positive it either never goes into the log file in the first place, or is securely deleted from the log file when I delete the data. There's millions of other bits of data in the log, so truncating or otherwise disposing of the whole log is not an option.
In particular, I'm capturing the credit card mag stripe at the beginning of a transaction, and saving it while the work is done to complete the transaction. (ie, a pilot walks in, says "Top off the G4 with JetA, here's my card, have it ready when I get back.") We want to save the swipe info for maybe a couple of hours (it is encrypted during this time), use it for the authorization, then throw it away as per credit card industry rules.
Is there any way I can save the encrypted text string in a normal MSSQL field (Varchar(200)), have it stay around for a few hours as the user logs in and out of the database, then delete the record and be sure it's nowhere in the log?

I sent a long string of ID from front end to my stored procedure...till now I was using varchar(8000)...but if the string crossess that limit it is breaking.
If I try to use text datatype..It doesn't support rtrim, stuff functions etc...
So could any one suggest me a best way to save a long string without any restriction of size...

I have a requirement like, i need to save all the records from my Flat File on Monthly basis to my database table. In the next month, the flat file may be added with 10-20 records and also some updates happened to my old records. Though the faltfile is same for each month, the changes are occured in some records and also added with few records.
So when i am loading this data in to Database table, i need to just update the changed records and also needs to add the new records. I don't need to touch the remaining records.
How can i do that in SSIS 2005 using different data flow tasks ?

I have created a DTS package which imports text file into single sql server table with 8 columns (SourceData). The DTS package uses 'Test1.txt' file. Now i have around 200 text files (Test1,Test2,.....Test200). I need to import them one by one into 'SourceData' table. Could you pls. help me out in getting solved this mistery.

Over the weekend, one of our out-of-house programmers ran an update to our three main tables. I know these are kind of broadstrokes, but basically he compared the data and updated certain fields when it met certain conditions (lots of rules basically). The three tables are one-to-one and contain a little over a million records. The comparison file contained around 400k records.
The scripts made it through 250k records from the comparison file before he had to stop it for the weekend.
When I came in to test the data yesterday - I was met with problems on my front end application - it would lock up on the write back to the database. I went into EP and experienced the same thing after making any changes to a record, it would just lock up. This only appears to be a problem on the 2 bigger tables of the 3. I currently have 12 gigs or so free on that box and I have already shrunk the log and data files.
I tried removing and re-adding the indexes, but I am freezing up everytime I try to either change or delete the Clustered Index on the Primary Key. I don't know why, but I thought maybe that was my issue.
I know this is pretty broad, but even if someone could give me ideas as to why SQL would lock up like that when trying to just save the data, it would be most helpful.
NOTE: There were NO structure changes in the update process and my restored data from Friday works perfect.

Hi, i'm trying to do a full text search on my site to add a weighting score to my results. I have the following database structure:
Documents: - DocumentID (int, PK) - Title (varchar) - Content (text) - CategoryID (int, FK)
Categories: - CategoryID (int, PK) - CategoryName (varchar)
I need to create a full text index which searches the Title, Content and CategoryName fields. I figured since i needed to search the CategoryName field i would create an indexed view. I tried to execute the following query:
CREATE VIEW vw_DocumentsWITH SCHEMABINDING ASSELECT dbo.Documents.DocumentID, dbo.Documents.Title, dbo.Documents.[Content], dbo.Documents.CategoryID, dbo.Categories.CategoryNameFROM dbo.Categories INNER JOIN dbo.Documents ON dbo.Categories.CategoryID = dbo.Documents.CategoryID
GOCREATE UNIQUE CLUSTERED INDEX vw_DocumentsIndexON vw_Documents(DocumentID)
But this gave me the error:
Cannot create index on view 'dbname.dbo.vw_Documents'. It contains text, ntext, image or xml columns.
I tried converting the Content to a varchar(max) within my view but it still didn't like.
Appreciate if someone can tell me how this can be done as surely what i'm trying to do is not ground breaking.
How would I save a users password to a table, change it to a default password and restore it if necessary?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHi,I am trying to access the data inside a text column in the database and display it on a page.The problem is, I cannot see the full data when I execute the stored procedure in SQL Server and also on the asp.net page.it seems Sql server clips the data if it is more than 3000 characters. Is there anyway I can see the whole data that is stored in that particular column.I do not understand why asp.net is also clipping the data. What container can I use to display the text? I have tried Literal, string, placeholder but nothing shows the full text that is supposed to be in the database.I have seen some people using byte arrays but I am not sure how I can use them to display data on a page. If anyone has done this before or had a similar problem please reply back.Thanks.
