Show/Hide Details And Sub-Reports
Jun 13, 2007We were having a standards meeting today at my company and we talked about the show/hide details button in the UI. We hide reports all the time because they are sub-reports and aren't meant to be run on their own. If we can't hide the "Show Details" button and we can't ban the user with security from running the sub-report because they need to run the Main report which runs the sub-report, then what do we do?
I'd think we have the have the ability to to hide things, or least a creative way to hide them; but I don't want to deploy sub-reports to wierd places just to get around this.
The following posts reference this topic, but didn't address it; yet raise this question.

p.s. Just my own two cents, it would seem like a nice feature to be able to hide the "show details" button because there are advantages to hiding things.
Report Manager And The Show Details Button
Jan 24, 2008I've read posts that state it is impossible to remove the "Show Details" button on the tool bar in Report Manager.
I created a new role assignment for an individual on a folder with the "Browse" role only.
When that individual navigates to the folder and clicks the "Show Details" button, the "Delete" and "Move" buttons also appear on the tool bar, with a checkbox next to each report item.
I can't have a folder where my users have the ability to delete or move my published reports!
Am I missing a setting? Again, the user has the "Browse" role only on the folder.

Button To Hide Objects

Hello Folks,
Sorry to have to ask this as it may be easier than what I'm thinking.
I have a menu down the left side of my main report. Previously this menu navigated to their associated reports, however I'm sampling the idea of having all the reports as subreports in the mainreport, then clicking a button on my menu to only show the subreport I'm interested, and hide the rest. They're layered on top of each other so it looks like I'm navigating to a new page, even though I'm not.
I've set up parameters to control the visibility of each subreport object which works when the parameter value is changed manually, however, I don't know how to create a button (textbox) to change the value of that parameter (or in this case, all the parameters that control the visibility of the objects). I don't want to have to use the integrated UI to change the parameter directly, although I know this would probably work.
Quick summary :
User clicks 'Server Details' Button
ServerDetails.rdl subreport is set to visible
DriveDetails.rdl subreport is set to invisible
DatabaseDetails.rdl subreport is set to invisible
I realise I'll probably have to code a refresh in IF I can get the above to work

Hide And Show Parameters In SSRS
Apr 15, 2008I am doing report development against OLAP. I have Parameter1 and then my second parameter is a boolean (True/False). I want to show Parameter 3/Paramater 4 based on selection of Param2 (So, if true, show Param3, if false, show Param 4) and please remember we are doing this in a sequence.
Is this even possible in SSRS 2005? If yes, how the hell do I achieve it.
PS: Sorry for cursing, but I am about to lose my mind. Any help is much much appreciated.

I'm currently investigating whether SQL Reporting Services might be the right solution to some reporting requirements I have been given (web reports).
There is a requirement that some of the columns are hidden to begin with and can be shown by clicking on the header of one of the other columns. E.g. There is a list of clients and a "Total Revenue" column, clicking on the "Total Revenue" column header would show an additional 5 or so columns which show a breakdown of different figures that make up the total revenue.
So my question is this: Is it possible to show/hide columns by clicking on the headers of other columns in the report?

Hide/Show Table Based On Parameter Selection!!!???
Apr 28, 2008I'd like to hide/show a table based on selected parameters. In the current setup I have a matrix and two tables underneath that need to be displayed from time to time. First of I use a multi-value parameter called "Lieferart". Depending on the parameter I have set the visibility of the two tables with the following expression:
=iif(Parameters!lieferart.Value(0) like "Nagel%", False, True)
This expression doesn't work though, any ideas??? I am also unsure about what I have to do If multiple values from the parameter list are selected as Parameters!lieferart.value(0) doesn't necessarily need to have a label like "Nagel" included...
Show/Hide Extra Column Without Running Report Again

Is it possible to show or hide columns in a report on the fly, i.e. without having to run the report again?
I have a report in with a parameter to let the user choose between the data to show. However the customer doesn't like it that he has to rerun the report. Any help would be appreciated!

In my ssrs report i have 18 columns :

The first six months will be displayed in each case.
But when i choose 6 months i just want to display first six months only.when i choose 12 months i want to be displayed first 12 months columns only and for 18 months all the columns,.

May 2, 2008I have a report that has three levels of grouping including headers (containing titles) and footers (containing summary values). I would like to programatically show/hide these header/footer sections based on a Show/Hide paramter. Is that possible? Can this be done through a setting or programatically at teh report level? Is there a <default_toolbars_OpenState> tag or something?

Show/Hide Report Parameters Based On Selected Values In Different Parameter

I have requirement where first I need to show only one report
parameter. Based on user selection I need to prompt or show the user
another report parameter.
Say suppose I have 3 parameters. User selects first value in first
parameter I should not show the other 2 parameters. If user selects
second value in first parameter I should show second parameter and
hide third parameter. There is no relationship between these 2
parameters except user selection. Similarly if user third value in
first parameter then I should show third parameter and hide second
parameter.
Is this possible? I can not see any Visible property for report
parameters.
If yes, how to achieve this functionality?

Power Pivot :: Create Power View Report - Button Does Not Show Up For Some Reports

In Gallery view, most of the reports show the "Open New Excel Workbook", the "Create Power View Report", and the "Manage Data Refresh" buttons on the right side of the report list. Why would some reports not have these buttons available? In the attached image you can see one report with the buttons and one without the buttons.

1. I downloaded ChartFXRSTrial and created one chart, and able to deploy it in ReportServer, but the problem is the reports are not showing there, i checked the configuration of .dll files in the help provided by chartFX, but couldn't get anything, so could help me on this.
2. How to give Tooltip for the X- axis or Y- axis values in the ReportServer , i tried using chartproperties of .rdl file, but didnt understand it. can help me on this, and one more i tried with Dundas too, If im giving tooltip as #valy then, it is showing samething in reportserver instead the values of 'Y-axis'.

SQL && C# Help On A Button Click!!!

I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this but I am trying to achieve the following:
I have a row (In this case it is information on a fix) and on a button click I am trying to get it to "archive" it. At the moment I have it so that it it takes the current information and adds it to the archive table adding an archive date. The thing that I am struggling with is incrementing the version number. So, I need it to (in these steps I think) - Look for existance of the other entires of that ID, look for the version number that is related to the newest date of those knowledgeIDs and then add 1 to it. If that knowledgeID doesnt exist then add it as one.

Back Button
Jun 2, 2008Hello.
When I'm useing a report in reportViewer I have a "back button" in the the viewer which let me go back to my parent report after jumping to another report.
I wanted to make a bigger button like that on the report so I tried to simulate it by creating my own textback and use a javascript to go back one page.
This doesn't work since the javascript doesn't work as well as the built in bottun.
Is there a way to simulate this button any way?

Where's The Start Button?

I just installed and registered SQL Server Express but I don't see any shortcuts or Start -> Programs links. I found the new folder it created C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2 and I tried to run this file:

Nothing happens. Nada. Do I have to restart my computer?

Feb 1, 2006Print button is disabled for some users. Don't know why it is doing so? Works fine for most of the users in the same group.

I have one report,in my report i need to display parameters like this:
one radio button :Age and another radio button is Age Ranges
For the Age,I have to dispaly like two text boxes named 'From' and 'To'
For the Age Ranges,I have to display one drop down list contains values :20s,30s ..
In Reporting Services,Putting the Radio button is not possible,i think,If possible how to achive this.
Other workaround is i think Multivalued parameter which displays the Age and Age ranges
When we click on Age we need to display 2 textboxes
When we select Age Ranges we have to display Drop down list
If we select both :both 2 text boxes and drop down list.
Putting multi valued parameters for this requirement is not good and this is not the multi valued parameter concept.Please clarify me whether iam correct or not.

Aug 8, 2006I have a web application with a stand alone report. When I put the ReportViewer in the webform I can see every reports in the project. The problem is that I can't see the print report button...
If I indicate that the report is a "Server Report" instead a local report the Print Report appear, but a need a "Local Report" not a "Server Report" How can i solve that.

I wanted to add a search button to my report where by it would only be visible after the report was run by the user and then the user could search on a particular field(Called Synopsis) for a value, ex QREF12345. I don't want the user to enter QREF, just the number. How could this be coded?? Also, are there any good sites available with code snippetts available?

I installed the app and it opens up, but when I try to create a new folder the software will not allow the OK choice. I can cancel, but I need to choose OK.
