View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a ntext column which stores rows of xml data. Ive decided that the best way to query the xml data is to Convert the ntext data into xml data type and use Sql Server 2005 builtin Xml Query tools to perform FLWOR expressions. The problem Im having is getting the ntext data Converted to xml. When I try to convert the ntext text, I of course get an error that local variables of ntext type are invalid.Any suggestions on a way I might accomplish this? Thanks, -lance
View 1 Replies View RelatedHi I have an image column (Spectrum) in a Table (ParticleEDS) which is populated with an array of a bunch of INT32's (4 bytes each)
Using TSQL is there any way that I can read each 4 bytes (convert this to an INT) and return this data for a given record (based on ParticleEDSID).
I know that there are 8192 byes (2048x4 bytes) that make up the image column.
I would like the output of the query/stored procedure to be:
Value
------------
1 2342
2 2334
3 3343
.....
2048 1001
I am thinking that the way to do this would be to convert every 4 bytes into an int and create a temporaty table with an integer column which I populate with int and then run a select * on this temporary table.
Does anybody have any pointers on how I can start to do this?
I have a string stored in a column of type image that I need to do string operations with in order to decode the containing infomation.
data [image] = 0x07FD0707FD0102F001000054004C005300410000000054004C00530041000000FF...
I can't cast or convert to nvarchar(max), varchar(max) as I always get an error. Explicit conversion from data type image to varchar(max) is not allowed.
I tried CONVERT(VARCHAR(MAX), CONVERT(VARBINARY(MAX), DATA))
Which doesn't throw an error but seems to interprete the hexadecimal code to ascii characters and therefore is useless (ýýð...)
I am trying to run this statement
Select Calims, ProCode From Inquiry Where ProCode Between 80000 and 89999
ProCode is a varchar but I am still checking a range on it.
It seem to work fine but then there is some invalid data entry in this column
for example 'abace' or '100i' so I get the error.
1) how I can exclude them out of my query.
Someone suggested the following but I dont understand how do achieve that. thanks
" However, there would appear to be different data types. If Value is a character
--based type then you may want to limit the search by first extracting numeric values
-- with something like ISNUMERIC(Value) = 1 and then converting them to numerics using
--the convert function - CONVERT(int, Value) BETWEEN 10000 and 20000."
I have been asked to write a piece of code that will insert an image object into a database using a stored procedure and the Microsoft Enterprise Library. Has anyone done this before? Do you have any code examples about how to update a database with an image datatype that needs to be chunked, etc...
In this instance, I need to open up a word document and save the contents as an image in a database.
hi, i'm a student doing my final year project. during the user requirements stage, my client proposed storing all files (.doc, .jpg, .mp3) into the sql database. i found out that the way to do this is to write the files as binary data in order to store them in the database. my concern is will this data storage overload the database server? i read somewhere that the retrieval of data as binary data is the same as retrieving text. but the estimation of users is around 27,000.. if i'm not wrong, the sql database server should be MS SQL Server 2005, or at least 2003.

1. How can I upload new pictures into the database through the browser.
2. Can you describe how the new picture of the product would be uploaded into the database.
3. How do you handle different formats that pictures come in gif, tif, jpeg,

4. How can you say that SQL server does support images well, because on

Hi all,
I am using a varchar datatype for PIN number to handle zero at start. Now i want to do mathematical calculation to encrypt the PIN so i need to convert that varchar datatype to int so that zero should not be discarted after conversion. i.e. 0123 and 123 must not be treated as same PIN.
Please kindly give me a way out. I am using RSA encryption.
Thanks in anticipation.
