UpdateCommand="UPDATE tblASPCustomerWan SET [Site_name] = @Site_name, [system_id] = @system_id, [ASP_Archive] = @ASP_Archive, [sitetimes] = @sitetimes, [HPOV_ROC] = @HPOV_ROC, [CircuitType] = @CircuitType, [QwestCircuit_ID] = @QwestCircuit_ID, [SiteConfig]= @SiteConfig, [Site_Nat]=@Site_Nat,[PVC_VCI]=@PVC_VCI"

Referring To Sql Connection String In Web.config From Code Behind

May 15, 2007

Every time I move my project from my computer to the testing server I have to change the connection string references in the aspx side and in my code behind.
For the code behind I declared the SqlConnection string at the top of the code-behind page for both connection strings and comment out the one not in use. Obviously I then comment out the string not in use in the WebConfig as well.
Being superlatively lazy I always look for the easiest and quickest way to do most anything - connection strings included. Having to comment out strings twice brought rise to the question of whether I can refer to the connection string in the web.config file from the code-behind page. I'm sure it can be done, and I did a good amount of hunting around, but I couldn't find any examples of code that would do that.
Currently, as I said above, I have two connection strings declared at the top of my code-behind. Here's an example of one:Private sqlConn As New SqlConnection("Data Source=DATABASESERVER;Initial Catalog=DATABASE;User ID=USER;Password=PASSWORD")
 Then, I just use sqlConn as usual in my binding without having to "dim" it in every sub:sdaPersonnel = New SqlDataAdapter(strSqlPersonnel, sqlConn)
 Then there's the SqlConnections set up by the wizard on the aspx side:<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlDataSourcePayrollCompany" Runat="Server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:DATABASECONNECTIONSTRING %>" ...>
 And for the connection in the web.config:<add name="DATABASECONNECTIONSTRING" connectionString="Data Source=DATABASESERVER;Initial Catalog=DATABASE;User ID=USER;Password=PASSWORD" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
 So, what would be the code in the code-behind page to refer to the connection string in the web.config file?
Thanks!

Connection String And Permission Errors In The CLR Code

Feb 28, 2008

I have written a CLR function in C# to access a sql server different from the current server where I have deplyed the assembly.

DataSet ds = new DataSet();

SqlCommand sqlCmd = new SqlCommand();

sqlCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;

string connString = "Data Source=SQLSERVER;Initial Catalog=DATABASE;User ID=userid;Password=password;";

SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection(connString);

sqlCmd.Connection = sqlConn;

sqlConn.Open();

try

{

SqlDataAdapter sda = new SqlDataAdapter();

sqlCmd.CommandText = "StoredProcedureName";

sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@Param1", SqlDbType.VarChar);

sqlCmd.Parameters["@Param1"].Value = sParam1;

sda.SelectCommand = sqlCmd;

sda.Fill(ds);

}

finally

{

sqlConn.Close();

}

return ds;

I was getting the following error

"Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."

so I tried doing the following

SqlClientPermission pSql = new SqlClientPermission(System.Security.Permissions.PermissionState.Unrestricted);

pSql.Assert();

and then I get this error

"Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."

Any idea how to remedy this ?

Thanks in advance

Cannot Set Connection Property Of Backup Database Task If Connection String Is Customized In Connection Object

Aug 23, 2006

I added a connection (ADO.NET) object by name testCon in the connection manager - I wanted to programmatically supply the connection string. So I used the "Expressions" property of the connection object and set the connectionstring to one DTS variable. The idea is to supply the connection string value to the variable - so that the connection object uses my connection string.

Then I added a "Backup Database Task" to my package with the name BkpTask. Now whenever I try to set the connection property of BkpTask to the testCon connection object, by typing testCon, it automatically gets cleared. I am not able to set the connection value.

Then after spending several hours I found that this is because I have customized the connection string in testCon. If I don't customize the connection string, I am able to enter the "testCon" value in the connection property of the BkpTask.

Is this an intrinsic issue?

The AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager &&<Connection Name&&> Failed With Error Code 0xC020200

Feb 14, 2008

Hi All,
I am getting the following error if I am using the package "Transaction Option=Required" while running through Sql Job:
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<connection name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

while I running the SSIS package on BI environment, I am getting the following error:
[Connection manager "<connection name>"] Error: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D00A "Unable to enlist in the transaction.".

I know the alternative solution is to make the "Transaction Option=Supported", but in my case I have run the whole flow in a single transaction. I came to know that this has been fixed in the service pack1(ref. to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914375). FYI.. some time it was running successful.

I have taken all the necessary step to run the SSIS package in a distributed transaction(like the steps for MSDTC) and also created the package flow in a sequence.

I was going through the link - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=160340&SiteID=1 but all those didn't solve my problem.

If anyone can help me it will be great. or it is a bug in SSIS?

Thanks.

SSPI Handshake Failed With Error Code 0x8009030c While Establishing A Connection With Integrated Security; The Connection Has Be

Mar 7, 2006

Hello, I have a sql 2005 server, and I am a developer, with the database on my own machine. It alwayws works for me but after some minutes the other developer cant work in the application

He got this error

Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]

and When I see the log event after that error, it comes with another error.

SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]

He has IIS5 and me too.

I created a user on the domain called ASPSYS with password, then in the IIS on anonymous authentication I put that user with that password, and it works, on both machines.

and in the connection string I have.

<add key="sqlconn" value="Data Source=ESTACION15;Initial Catalog=GescomDefinitiva;Integrated Security=SSPI; Trusted_Connection=true"/>

I go to the profiler, and I see that when he browses a page, the database is accesed with user ASPSYS, but when I browse a page, the database is accesed with user SElevalencia.

Thats strange.

The only way that the other developer can work again on the project is to restart the whole machine. He has windows xp profession, I have windows 2000.

If you want me to send logs please tellme

Foxpro COPY TO Method Not Working (with C# And VB Code)

Mar 7, 2007

Hi, The attached code gives the error "One or more errors occured during processing of command"

What I am trying to do is simply copy a table ("inventry") to a new table name ("bob"). Eventually I want to create a new table based on a filter (as i would using the SELECT INTO command in sql)

Note that this is for a foxpro table

OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection();

conn.ConnectionString = "Provider=VFPOLEDB.1;Data Source=C:\test\Inventry.dbf;Password=''";

conn.Open();

OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand();

cmd.CommandText = "USE Inventry";

cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();

cmd.CommandText = "COPY TO bob";

cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();   // ERRORS HERE!!!!

ive tried a similar thing in VB and get the same error:

 Dim cn As New ADODB.Connection

    cn.ConnectionString = "Provider=VFPOLEDB.1;Collating Sequence=MACHINE;Data Source=C: est"
    cn.Open
    cn.Execute ("set null off")
    cn.Execute ("USE C: estInventry.dbf")
    cn.Execute ("COPY TO C: estBOB WITH CDX")  // ERRORS HERE!!!

Any help would be greatley appreciated

Shaun

Copy Data From Access To SQL Express In Code?

Jun 1, 2006

I have tried the upsize wizard from access 2000 and access 2003 and get records transfer in 90% of the tables I have data stored an 89 meg MS access database (2003) on an XP machine.  I can use, compact and copy etc in MS Access without problem.

With the upsize, I get No errors, just does not reliably move ALL data.  I have run it multiple times and occasionally get some data in these tables, but never all data in a few tables and inconsistent.

========================================

So I have written code to copy the data from the access database and move it field by field into an Upsized database that was structure only, no data.

I have ONLY one Identity field (autonumber in MS access) that is the Key Relationship number to all other tables.

1 questions and one "bug" report need solutions to both.

Question:  How can I copy the value from the MS access autonumber field to the identity field.  (Some of the autonumber rows have been deleted so not always sequentiall)  (I can do this moving data in code between to MS access databases that have autonumber fields)

=========================

I tied an elaborate write around to addNEW and then read the data in  the newly created row.  Reading the Identity field, I look up that number in the MS access database.  Then I copy the ACCESS data to the Newly created table row in SQL Exress and update.

It works fine for about 30 record updates, then the Identify field stops giving me the correct sequence for the Identity field value.  Makes it impossible to make sure all of my Access rows get copied.    Tried transactions but not supported with the ADODB configuration, but doubt that would help.

Example data returned in the SQL Express recordset, when I read the Identify field back I get

1,2,3 etc  31, 33, 32 (out of sequence) then it (my code) can't figure out the out of sequence and end up with the next identity value at 41.

The only info I found was that it could be a cursorlocation problem, what do you recommend?

?Is there a way in code to change the identity field to string, then copy the data and change back to identity field again?

Hi,
I'm having a BIG problem, this is my 3rd day looking for answer !I'm trying to create a custom membership provider with MS SQL database 2005 but not the default ASPNETDB. I've changed the web.config to be as following:<connectionStrings><add name="sqlConn" connectionString="Data Source=.;Integrated Security=True;Initial Catalog=ASPNETDB;"providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /></connectionStrings> <system.web><trace enabled="true" /><roleManager enabled="true" /><authentication mode="Forms" />

The Connection Name 'name' Was Not Found In The Applications Configuration Or The Connection String Is Empty

Jan 18, 2008

I have been trying to host my website on Go Daddy for about 3 weeks and I have cleared several problems but this one remains. I can get into the ASPNETDB database for doing logins , etc but I cant access my database called "PINEmgt".
To try to understand where the problem is located,I built a very simple application without login controls and put on it one Detailform accessing a single line table "Signin". I continually get the error message I got with my real app :"The connection name 'PINEMgtConnectionString2' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty. " There is only one connection string in my app -'PINEMgtConnectionString2'. When I run the app locally on my machine it works. After I move everything to Go Daddy, I get the error message and the following dump"

Line 27: InsertCommand="INSERT INTO Signup(first_name, last_name, email, customer_id) VALUES (,,,)"
Line 28: SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [Signup]"></aspqlDataSource>

This is indeed the code from my single page app.

The dump is:

in the form of a solution of this problem. Your help with the problem or the name of a good mental health professional in eastern N.C. (maybe both) would be appreciated.

SQL Server 2008 :: Connection Manager Not Using Connection String Value

Feb 19, 2015

I have a child package where the ConnectionString property of a Connection Manager is set by a Parent Package Variable Configuration. I set up a script task that brings up a message box with the value of the ConnectionString property right before the dataflow task.

MessageBox.Show(Dts.Connections["CPU_*"].ConnectionString.ToString());When I run the parent package, the message box shows that the connection string is changing with every iteration, but in the dataflow it always draws the data from the same source.

The connection manager is an ADO.Net type, RetainSameConnection is set to False, and I've been researching this for days.

(Update 2/23/2015): To make this stranger, when I look at the diagnostic logs, they tell me that when the new connections are being opened they are using the new connection strings.

Edit Connection Manager Connection String At Runtime With C#

Jul 3, 2007

This is the first time I have used SSIS, so please bear with the ignorance.

I have a super simple package that inserts x000's of rows into a temporary table. The data source is a file that the user will upload. I need to be able to tell the package what file to upload. I'm thinking the simplest thing would be to edit the connectionString property of the SourceConnectionFlatFile at runtime. Is this possible? What form should the file path be in (UNC, other)? And, are there any other considerations I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Variable Connection String For OLE DB Connection

May 15, 2007

Good Morning,

I hope that I am just missing a step in the process somewhere. I have established a string variable called DatabaseServer and another called DatabaseName. In the OLE DB connectionstring expression I have the following:

Code Snippet

"Data Source=" + @[User::DatabaseServer] + ";Initial Catalog=" + @[User::DatabaseName] + ";Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;"

My understanding is that changing the variable from SERVERA to SERVERB should repoint the connection. (Test to pre-production to production in my current promotion environment.) This should also take effect in any dataflow task using the database connection above right? When I try to repoint the server variable (and only the server variable) I am either a.)throwing errors saying the original connection cannot be found in the data flow task, or b.)the job appears to be processing fine, but the repoint did not take place and data is still flowing to the original server.

Can anyone offer suggestions as to what I am missing?

The properties values in the DB connection:

ConnectionManagerType is OLEDB

DataSourceID is blank

DelayValidation is False (Setting to true changes nothing in my test)

Expression for ConnectionString is (see above)

RetainSameConnection is False

SupportsDTCTTransactions is True (and appears to be unchangeable.)

I have taken "EXCEL FILE SOURCE" and "SQL Server DESTINATION". It was failed on importing data. Surprisingly it works fine in SQL Server 2005 (x32). Can you please explain why it is NOT woking on (x64) ?

Here is the error code i am getting:

[Excel Source [1]] Error: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

Appreciate your time and patience !!

Best Practice Advice For Efficient SQL Connection Code

Feb 26, 2006

Hi,
I have an application which is similar to the following example
Private Sub Start()For a as int16 = 1 to 300lstResults.items.add(GetPriceFromItem(a))NextEnd Sub
Private Function GetPriceFromItem(byval item as int16) as String'Connect to SQL'Execute "SELECT Price FROM Table WHERE Item='" & item.tostring & "'"'Close Database connection'Return PriceEnd Function
I want to know if there is a more efficeint way of doing this, i.e. i'm concerned that the routine creates 300 SqlConnection instances, 300 open/closes and 300 queries
Would a better way be to connect to SQL once, get the entire table then do the 300 "lookups" locally somehow, perhaps put it all into a DataTable, but can you query a datatable in this way, or could you suggest another control.
Best Regards
Ben
