Database Won't Start In Cluster - Cannot Generate SSPI Context

Jun 2, 2006

Hi,
I have a MSSQL database running in a Microsoft cluster. I was working on troubleshooting for another SAP problem when they suggested I change the setting using hte SQL Server Client Network Utility to 'named pipes' from 'tcp/ip'. Every since, despite changing it back I'm unable to start the database in the cluster.

I'm kind of a newbie at this so I'd really appreciate any help in getting this database up and running.

Here is the error message from the event log:
sqsrvres] checkODBCConnectError: sqlstate = HY000; native error = 0; message = [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Cannot generate SSPI context

Apr 23, 2015

My requirement is to get the latest start date after a gap in a month for each id and if there is no gap for that particular id minimum date for that id should be taken….Given below the scenario

ID          StartDate
1            2014-01-01
1            2014-02-01
1            2014-05-01-------After Gap Restarted
1            2014-06-01
1            2014-09-01---------After last gap restarted
1            2014-10-01
1            2014-11-01
2            2014-01-01

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: How To Add Previous Row End Date As Next Row Start Date

Mar 14, 2014

Let's say the first row returned has StartDate = 1/1/2014 and EndDate is 1/2/2014. The next row I want the StartDate to equal the previous row EndDate so it would be 1/2/2014 as StartDate. This compounds every row basically the third row StartDate would be the second row EndDate. All in one select statement if it can be done. Using SQL2008r2.

Get Minimum Start Date

Nov 12, 2014

I'm looking at the following Records:

cust_no item_no start_dt end_dt price
1060 2931 2011-02-06 9999-12-31 1.23
1060 2931 2011-04-18 9999-12-31 2.00

I want to be able to pull the records with the earliest date 2011-02-06 ...

There were other records with this same customer and item number. I used this script to return the two above.

select *
from price
where end_dt > getdate()

Now I need to add something so it only returns the record with the earliest date. I'm going to run this on a table that has many customer and item combinations.

Start And End Date Ranges

Apr 16, 2015

I have a set of MS SQL reports, that need to always run on a certain day of the month. Generally the 20th. If the report was to run few days before the 20th, say on the 10th, I wish to retrieve those days between the 20th from the previous month, till the current date.

e.g: '2015-4-10' should only return 20 days worth of data.

I have tried the following query:

SELECT
DATEADD(D, 1, MAX(CAST(DateTimeStamp AS DATE))) As EndDate,
MIN(CAST(DATEFROMPARTS(DATEPART(YEAR, DateTimeStamp),DATEPART(MONTH,
(SELECT CASE WHEN DATEDIFF(DAY,DATEPART(DAY, GETDATE()),28) <0 THEN (SELECT DATEPART(MONTH, GETDATE()))
ELSE (SELECT DATEPART(MONTH, GETDATE()) -1) END AS Date)),28)AS DATE)) AS StartOfMonth

FROM
tbLogTimeValues
WHERE
DATEPART(YEAR, DateTimeStamp) = DATEPART(YEAR, DATEADD(M, -1, GETDATE()))

Which parses ok and managed to test all individual queries, however, as a whole, I get the following error message "Cannot perform an aggregate function on an expression containing an aggregate or a subquery."

Find Start And End Date Strings

Oct 28, 2004

Hello,

I am having some probelms getting script to give me the first and last date a customer had an outstanding item. The data is as follows:

Customer StartDate EndDate
A 4/1/04 4/15/04
A 4/15/04 5/1/04
A 5/1/04 5/15/04
A 5/16/04 5/28/04
A 5/28/04 6/5/04
B 5/1/04 5/15/04
B 5/16/04 5/20/04

The results I am looking for would be as follows:

Customer A : Outstanding 4/1/04 - 5/15/04
Customer A : Outstanding 5/16/04 - 5/28/04 (Theres a one day gap between prior sting, so this would be a new string )
Customer B : OUtstanding 5/1/04 - 5/15/04
Customer B : Outstanding 5/16/04 - 5/20/04

I want to include any strings where the start of one item and the end of another are on the same day as one continuis string. Any ideas on how to do this??

Thanks in advance!!

Start Date Question: How To Modify It In SQL Server

Oct 12, 2000

Hi!

I got a DATE question here... In Oracle, all dates are based upon a fixed point in time. So internally a specific date is stored as a REAL number (which is something like the number of seconds from that specific date onwards).

How can I change that start date upon which all dates in Oracle are based?

SQL Server 7 has something similar. How can I change the start date for SQL Server?

Thanks,
Helmut

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Generate Working Schedule For Employees For X-days Ahead Based On Starting Date

May 6, 2014

I would like to generate a working schedule for employees for x-days ahead based on a starting date that the user can enter.

I have got 3 relevant tables:

1. Table X with (1) resourcenumber, (2) starting date working schedule and (3) the daynumber representing the starting date (this is ISO so 1 for Monday, 2 for Tuesday etc.)

2. Table Y has the schedule itself and can hold a 7-days schedule or a 14-days schedule. In case of 7 days schedule there a 14 (!) records with (1) resourcenumber, (2) daynumber, (3) starting hour a.m. (4) ending hour a.m (5) starting hour p.m and (6) ending hour p.m. In case of a 14-days schedule there are 28 records (a.m. and p.m. records)

3. Table Z with resource data.

An example to clarify (for fake employee 100):

Table X:
Resource: 100
Starting date: 2012-03-01 (from this date the schedule will be effective)
Daynumber: 4 (2012-03-01 was a Thursday)

Table Y (Resource has a 14 days schedule because per 2 weeks Monday is an off-day):

Record 1 shows: Resource: 100, Daynumber: 1 (= Monday, working day), AM-Starting hour: 09:00, AM-Ending hour: 13:00, PM-starting hour: 13:30, PM-ending hour: 17:30
Record 2: same but daynumber is 2
Record 3: same but daynumber is 3 etc.
...
Record 8 shows: Resource: 100, Daynumber: 8 (= Monday, off-day), AM-Starting hour: 00:00, AM-Ending hour: 00:00, PM-starting hour: 00:00, PM-ending hour: 00:00
Record 9: same as record 2 but daynumber is 9.
etc.
...
Record 14: same as record 7 but day is 14 (= last day)

The weekend days show as 00:00 for the hours (same as day 8 in example)

I generated the working schedule with a CROSS APPLY function based on the starting date and the x-number of days ahead.

I then evaluate the actual daynumber corresponding with that date with the daynumber in table Y. That works fine with a 7-days schedule but I can't get it fixed with a 14-days schedule. Day 8 in that schedule represents an actual day 1 but how do I know what actual date day 8 is ... I think I have to start with the starting date in table X ...

I think ideally I would like to have the generated days as follows (as an example in case of a 14-days schedule starting 2014-05-01 for 30 days ahead):

2014-05-01 = day 4 (= actual daynumber)
2014-05-02 = day 5
2014-05-03 = day 6
...
2014-05-10 = day 13
2014-05-11 = day 14
2014-05-12 = day 1
2014-05-13 = day 2
2014-05-14 = day 3
...
2014-05-24 = day 13
2014-05-25 = day 14
2014-05-26 = day 1
2014-05-27 = day 2
...
2014-05-31 = day 6

With this done I can compare the actual daynumber with the daynumber in Table Y.

The rownumber that the CROSS APPLY function generates has to be reset to 1 after day 14. I tried PARTITION BY in THE ROW_NUMBER function but to no avail ... The only field I can partition by is the maximum value of the daynumber (14 is the example) but that is not allowed in the rownumber function.

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: User Defined Function That Returns Start And End Date

Oct 15, 2014

Any UDF that accepts a Month and Year and returns Start Date and End Date.

For example @Month = 01 and @Year = 2014 would return a StartDate of 2014-01-01 and an EndDate of 2014-01-31.

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Pass Dates For Previous Months Start And End Date

Mar 16, 2015

I've SSRS sales report to which I need to pass the dates for previous month's start date and end date which I am able to pass using below code. However, since the sales report has data from the past year(2014) I need to pass the dates for last year as well. The below code gives StartDate1 as 2015-02-01 and EndDate1 as 2015-02-28. I need to get the dates for past year like 2014-02-01 as StartDate2 and 2014-02-28 as EndDate2

SELECT DATEADD(MONTH, DATEDIFF(MONTH, '19000201', GETDATE()), '19000101') AS StartDate1,
DATEADD(MONTH, DATEDIFF(MONTH, '19000101', GETDATE()), '18991231') AS EndDate1

SQL Backward Compatibility?

Apr 26, 2007

I get the impression that osql (or somewhere in the sql processing) precompiles the entire script before it executes anything. In particular, this is a problem because it means you can't use IF statements to bracket new features in a script designed to be run on both old and new versions of SQL Server. I'm trying to handle an issue whereby I need to use "CREATE LOGIN" on SQL Server 2005 because I need to set CHECK_POLICY = OFF, and you can't do that with sp_addlogin. However, on SQL Server 2000, while I can't use CREATE LOGIN, I don't need to because the default password policy is such that the password being used does not fail without it (as it does in SQL Server 2005, and is why we need to set CHECK_POLICY), so I can simply use sp_addlogin to create the user w/o a CHEC_POLICY setting.

It appears however, due to the way that SQL is processed, it is impossible to create an SQL script of this nature that will work under both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. I added code to check the Product Version, and can successfully bracket the code necessary with IF statements, but even though the IF statement would cause the CREATE LOGIN code to not be executed on SQL Server 2000, it errors anyway apparently because it is preparsing the script and of course, SQL Server 2000 doesn't have CREATE LOGIN. Consequently, checking Product Version is useless in this case. It looks like we'll have to do the version check outside of SQL and invoke script A for SQL Server 2000 and script B for SQL Server 2005.

Unless that is, I misunderstand the error I get from SQL Server 2000, or if there's some other way to compatibly do such a conditional. Here's an example script that runs fine under SQL Server 2005:

---------------
declare @ProductVersion as integer
set @ProductVersion = cast(left(cast(serverproperty('productversion')
as varchar(30)),1) as integer)

print 'Product Version = ' + cast(@ProductVersion as char)

IF @ProductVersion < 9 exec sp_addlogin 'testuser', 'fubar', 'master'
IF @ProductVersion > 8
BEGIN
CREATE LOGIN testuser WITH PASSWORD = 'fubar',
CHECK_POLICY = OFF, DEFAULT_DATABASE = [master]
END
----------------

On SQL Server 2000, @ProductVersion gets set to 8, but I get the following error:

Msg 170, Level 15, State 1, Server TESTSVR, Line 10
Line 10: Incorrect syntax near 'LOGIN'.

Any thoughts?

Backward Coompatibility

Jul 16, 2007

We have two different machines in different locations running SQL2000. One was upgraded to SQL2005. The problem is we can't upgrade the other at the moment cause it is running SBS2003 (requires alot more planning), But we would like to get information from the computer running SQL2005. Is there a patch that can be obtained so that we can open the database created using SQL2005 in SQL2000? We desperately need the database and upgrading to SQL2005 with SBS2003 is not straight forward.

SQL Server 2008 :: How To Default Start / End Date Parameters To First / Last Day Of Current Month

Feb 12, 2015

I have a SSRS report using 2008 R2. It prompts the user for the start and end dates. This all works. But now I want the start date parm to default to the first day of the current month and the end date parm to default to the last day of the current month. In the new query window in SQL Server Management Studio, I can run this chunk of code to get the first day of current month:

SELECT DATEADD(MONTH, DATEDIFF(MONTH, 0, GETDATE()), 0)

And this code to get the last day of current month:

SELECT DATEADD(DAY, -(DAY(DATEADD(MONTH, 1, GETDATE()))),
DATEADD(MONTH, 1, GETDATE()))

But I don't know how to do this in SSRS 2008. How can I make my start / end parms to get these values.
