Hello, My problem is with Validating Date parameter filed, when I user enters wrong (assume user is entering date instead of selecting from date picker). Where following are scenarios I would like to validate. When user enters non-date. When user enters 30/feb/yyyy.When user enters 29/feb/yyyy. (for non-leap year). When user enters 31/mm/yyyy. (for months does not includes day 31)
Could you explain in a little more detail how to accomplish this?
Hopefully I am posting this question in the correct forum. I am still learning about SQL 2005. Here is my issue. I have an access db that I archive weekly into and SQL server table. I have used the dst wizard to create an import job and initally that worked fine. field I have as the primary key in the access db cannot be the primary key in the sql table since I archive weekly and that primary key field will be imported several time over. I overcame this initally by not having a primary key in the sql table. This table is strictly for reference. However, now I need to setup a unique field for each of the records in the sql table. What I have done so far is create a recordID field in the sql table that is an int and set as yes to Identify (auotnumber). That worked great and created unique id for all existing records. The problem now is on the import. When I try to import the access table i am getting an error because of the extra field in the sql table, and the error is saying cannot import null value into this field. So... my final question is how can I import the access table into the sql table with one extra field which is the autonumber unique field? Thanks a bunch for any asistance.
I am trying to drag data from Informix to Sql Server. When I kick off the package using an OLE DB Source and a SQL Server Destination, I get DT_DBDATE to DT_DBTIMESTAMP errors on two fields from Informix which are date data ....no timestamp part
I tried a couple of things:
Created a view of the Informix table where I cast the date fields as datetime year to fraction(5), which failed.
Altered the view to convert the date fields to char(10) with the hopes that SQL Server would implicitly cast them as datetime but it failed.
I'm writing a view to check record counts in a table that has numerous datasets and therefore various "Activity Dates". Is it possible as part of the SQL statement to have a CASE statement for example so that it can identify the field to use as the activity date?
The field to use is being identified using a seperate table so at the moment I have CASE WHEN FieldToUse = '2' THEN MapCol ELSE '[Activity_Date]' END, where FieldToUse = '2' identifies the date field to use and the MapCol data is the field name to be used as the activity date.
Your advice might helps me a lot! I'm looking for the answer for days. I would like to add 35 days to every date field in a table. I The table structure, and content is dynamically changing. Is it possible?
Any one please tell me is there any possible way to identify the table modified date.
I have checked the table created date from sysobjects or by right click properties. my requirement is to identify the exact date of table modification and column creation, alter dates. Is there any such provision in sql server 2000 or 2005 , My application is in sql server 2000.
I need to confirm this because some database structure modification has affected my application and causing dataloss i need to check with the date of structural change of table and lost data date can any one help
Is there an AutoType Datatype for Date field. just like the Identity property for an ID field.
It increments by 1 for each new record.
The same way if i add a record to the table can it automatically put todays date or date and time for the field date created in my table.
The reason is i am uploading the record from xml file(Using SQLXMLBULKLOAD) so i dont have a chance to mention on the front end code or in the XSD file.
The "Last" function in the query below (line 4 & 5) is not exactly what I'm after. The last function finds the last record in that table, but i need to find the most recent record in the table according to a date field.
Code: SELECT tblinmate.statusid, tblinmate.activedate, Last(tblclassificationhistory.classificationid) AS LastOfclassificationID, Last(tblsquadhistory.squadid) AS LastOfsquadID, tblperson.firstname, tblperson.middlename, tblperson.lastname,
[Code] ....
The query below finds the most recent record in a table according to a date field, my problem is i dont know how to integrate this Query into the above to replace the "Last" function
Code: SELECT a.inmateID, a.classificationID, b.max_date FROM ( SELECT tblClassificationHistory.inmateID, tblClassificationHistory.classificationID,
I have table "Clients" who have associated records in table "Mailings" I want to populate a gridview using a single query that grabs all the info I need so that I may utilize the gridview's built in sorting. I'm trying to return records containing the next upcoming mailing for each client.
The closest I can get is below: I'm using GROUP BY because it allows me to return a single record for each client and the MIN part allows me to return the associated record in the mailings table for each client that contains the next upcoming 'send_date'
SELECT MIN(dbo.tbl_clients.client_last_name) AS exp_last_name, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.send_date) AS exp_send_date, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.user_id) AS exp_user_id, dbo.tbl_clients.client_id, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.mailing_id) AS exp_mailing_idFROM dbo.tbl_clients INNER JOIN dbo.tbl_mailings ON dbo.tbl_clients.client_id = dbo.tbl_mailings.client_idWHERE (dbo.tbl_mailings.user_id = 1000)GROUP BY dbo.tbl_clients.client_id The user_id set at 1000 part is what makes it rightly pull in all clients for a particular user. Problem is, by using the GROUP BY statement I'm just getting the lowest 'mailing_id' number and NOT the actual entry associated with mailing item I want to return. Same goes for the last_name field. Perhaps I need to have a subquery within my WHERE clause?Or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely..
I have an MS Access 2002 application that is distributed to a number of PCs around our office. The data for this application is stored on a central SQL Server that is linked in through ODBC.
This application has been in place for two years and working fine. We recently formatted and restored a PC, and now that particular PC has issues with the Access application.
Every time it tries to filter one of the linked SQL tables on a date field, Access goes unresponsive and GPFs out. If it's in a query that is behind a report, I get the old standard 'Catastrophic Failure'. If I open the table and right-click filter or run a query manually, Access GPFs.
I've tried recreating the ODBC, linking the tables through TCP/IP as well as Named Pipes. Nothing fixes it. All Windows and Office updates have been applied. This is not the first time we've reformatted a PC in the office, but we've never had this issue.
I am trying to load a table from MS Access into SQL Server. The Table has several columns defined as Date/Time. When I define the transform I get an error saying that the conversion between DT_DBDATE and DT_DBTIMESTAMP is not supported.
I created a dbo.Calendar table that stores dates and a work day flag (1=work day, 0=non-work day) so I can use it to calculate the next business date from a date using a function. I'm using a while group to count only the work days and a couple other internal variables but I'm not sure if I can even use them in a function.
Assuming Sats & Suns are all non-work days in April 2014, if my @WorkDays = 10 for 10 work days and my @DateFromValue - 4/1/2014, I would expect my return date to be 4/15/2014.

I have soma ado.net code that inserts 7 parameters in a database ( a date, 6 integers). I also use a self incrementing ID but the date is set as primary key because for each series of 6 numbers of a certain date there may only be 1 entry. Moreover only 1 entry of 6 integers is possible for 2 days of the week, (tue and fr). I manage to insert a row of data in the database, where the date is set as smalldatetime and displays as follows: 1/05/2007 0:00:00 in the table. I want to retrieve the series of numbers for a certain date that has been entered (without taking in account the hours and seconds). A where clause seems to be needed but I don’t know the syntax or don’t find the right function I use the following code to insert the row :
and the following code to get the row back (to put in arraylist):
“SELECT C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6 FROM Series WHERE (LDate = Today()) WHERE LDate = '" + DateTime.Today.ToString() + "'"
Which is the correct syntax? Is there a better way to insert and select based on the date?
I don’t get any error messages and the code executes fine but I only get an empty datatable in my dataset (the table isn’t looped for rows I noticed while debugging). Today’s date is in the database but isn’t found by my tsql code I think.
I need to pass in null/blank value in the date field or declare the field as string and convert date back to string.
I tried the 2nd option but I am having trouble converting the two digits of the recordset (rs_get_msp_info(2), 1, 2))) into a four digit yr. But it will only the yr in two digits. The mfg_start_date is delcared as a string variable
option 1 I will have to declare the mfg_start_date as date but I need to send in a blank value for this variable in the stored procedure. It won't accept a null or blank value.
I want to compare two columns in the same table called start date and end date for one clientId.if clientId is having continuous refenceid and sartdate and enddate of reference that I don't need any caseopendate but if clientID has new reference id and it's start date is not continuous to its previous reference id then I need to set that start date as caseopendate.
I am trying to populate a field in a SQL table based on the valuesreturned from using substring on a text field.Example:Field Name = RecNumField Value = 024071023The 7th and 8th character of this number is the year. I am able toget those digits by saying substring(recnum,7,2) and I get '02'. Nowwhat I need to do is determine if this is >= 50 then concatenate a'19' to the front of it or if it is less that '50' concatenate a '20'.This particular example should return '2002'. Then I want to take theresult of this and populate a field called TaxYear.Any help would be greatly apprecaietd.Mark
Hi this is my problem. mshflexgrid converts date value from dd.mm.yyyy to yyyy-mm-dd or mm.dd.yyyy
When i use JetOLEDB & .mdb file I can show correctly date type field in mshflexgrid with str() function. For example
rst.open"Select str(MyDateField) from table set mshflexgrid.datasource = rst
i can see dd.mm.yyyy ' namely good when i dont use str() function i see mm.dd.yyyy ' bad version
Now, i'm using SQL server 2000 & mdf file. mshflexgrid don't show correctly date field ( i want it to be like dd.mm.yyyy ) because i cant use str() function with SQL sever 2000 & mdf file
For example rst.open"Select str(MyDateField) from table... occur error When i want to use Convert function in SQL server 2000 & mdf file it automaticly converts it like Jun 18 2004 12:00AM but i dont want this
I want see this 18.06.2004 in Mshflexgrid. What can i do. help me pls.
create table dbo.#Status( ID varchar(50), Status varchar(50), EffectiveStartDate datetime, EffectiveEndDate datetime, Is_Current bit
[code].....
I want result as the attached image.
Create table query for result is: CREATE TABLE dbo.#Result( ID varchar(50), Fee varchar(100), Bill varchar(50), A_Date date, B_Date date, Status VARCHAR(50), EffectiveStartDate datetime, EffectiveEndDate datetime )
I am update/inserting records threw a web form in vb.net. I need to insert 'NULL' into my microsoft sql server database. I am not talking about the below line of code where website is the name of my paramater. If i do that it will just place a blank into that field in the database. If i dont enter anything into that textbox I want it to to say NULL in that field. So if I go into the actual table in the SQL Server Management Studio and look at the website field of the recored I just added or updated and did not type anything into the web site textbox it needs to say NULL. I also tried the second line of code but that places a single quote in front and behind NULL. So the field will have the value 'NULL'. website.value = txtwebsite.text.tostirng if txtwebsite.text ="" then website.value ="NULL" end if The reason why I need the NULL there is because I bind the website filed to a hyperlink template in a gridview. The actual text of the hyperlink is bound to PAYER which is a name of a insurance payer but the navigateto is bound to the website field. If i do not enter any data into the website field and it stays as NULL, then when my gridview is loaded, payers that dont have a website will not be underlined and user wont have the option to click on them since there is no value for the navigateto. But if i use my form to update/add a payer and leave the website textbox blank in puts a blank into that field in my database and when it loads that new row into the gridview the PAYER is underlined and u can click on it but it will just take u to the web site is unavailable page. So is there anyway to actaull have NULL placed into a filed and not just blank space
Hi there. I'm trying to extract data from my SQL server & everything in the script I've got is working (extracting correct data) except for one field - which is for the most part it's off by +2 days (on a few occasions - I see it off by just +1 day or even +3, but it's usually the +2 days).
I'm told that it's due to the conversion formula - but - since SQL is not my native language, I'm at a bit of a loss.
The DB table has the date field stored as a type: CHAR (as opposed to 'DATE') Can anyone out there help?
Select p.Id [SenderId], p.Username, up.PhotoId, CASE WHEN mr.ReadDate is null then 1 -- New message ELSE 0 -- Message has been read END AS NewMessage, p.LastLoggedIn, p.LoggedIn
[Code] ....
The above query returns me all messages (inbox functionality) that have been sent to mr.ReceipientId, the issue I have is when I send another email to the recipient the readdate field will be null, and the other emails linked to the recipient which have also been sent via me will have a readdate date. This causes duplicate rows to appear due to the case statement, I'm trying to figure out if / how it is possible to only display the one row per conversation and set newmessage to 1 if there is an un-read message otherwise show 0 ?
Hi guys, I need to get a column with the sum of the field "SUF" from table "JurnalTransMoves_1" when that field ("SUF") is ordered by the field "REFERENCE" from table "Stock", and Show the value only once.
The desired result should by something like:
Stock.REFERENCE JurnalTransMoves.SUF SUM(JurnalTransMoves.SUF) Group By Stock.REFERENCE
5752 10 60
5752 20
5752 30
5753 400 3000
5753 500
5753 600
5753 700
5753 800
5754 7 15
5754 8
Is there any chance to do that? Thanks in advance, Aldo.

Brand new to this, so please bear with me.I'm using the following code fragment to update a datetime field on a SQL Server 2005 database table:cmd.CommandText = "Update Projects Set EntryDate = " & Convert.ToDateTime(txtEntryDate.Text)cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()The result of the update operation is the the database field contains the value "1900-01-01 00:00:00:000". This probably means that I passed nulls to SQL; however, I see a valid date in the txtEntryDate field on my web form (i.e., "06/18/2007"). I also did a "Response.write" to display the txtEntryDate and it looks Okay. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!Using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express.
