I have five rows in a group header.
The top row is a true header row with details that will always be there and will always be visible.
The bottom four rows have their Visibility.Hidden property set to 'TRUE'.
All four of the bottom rows are assigned the same Visibility.ToggleItem.
Of the four bottom rows, any or all of them may not have data at any one time.
I want to find a way of allowing the rows to toggle from hidden to visible, but if one or all of the rows have a field item whose value is 0 then that row must remain invisible regardless of whether it is toggled.
I am still working on this puzzle, but if someone can provide me with an easy solution while I struggle, I would greatly appreciate it.

Need Script For Column Visibility Based On Group's Visibility Toggle

Hello,
I'm using SSRS 2005
I'm trying to write an expression for the "Hidden" property of a column in a table. The column is only populated with data if the group on my table is open. If the group is collapsed, then the column is empty. I'd like to make the column hidden if the group is collapsed. So I'm thinking it would be something like this:
=Iif(Table_1_Group.Hidden = "True", "True", "False")
But I can't find anyone who has written this anywhere.
I'm basically trying to make this report do the same thing a matrix does, but the matrix doesn't let me label the columns. I put textboxes above the matrix in line with the columns, but when I deploy the report to ReportManager, the textboxes get thrown all over the place and don't line up with the columns anymore.
So I guess if you can't answer the first question, an alternate question I have is how are you supposed to label the columns (row groups) in your matrix? They don't have headers, if I try to line textboxes up with them they get all messed up during deployment. They have that textbox up there in the top left corner that runs across the top of all of the row group columns, but if I put labels separated spaces in that textbox, the spaces get removed in rendering so the text is pushed all to the left and doesn't line up anymore.

SSRS Toggle Parameter Between Multi-Value And Single Value Based On Another Parameter

I would like to be able to adjust the multi-value property of a parameter based on the value of another parameter in my report. The controlling paramter would be binary with two options for Single or Multiple selection. I would like my parameter to default to multi-value, which I can do on the screen selection. I have tried to add an IIF statement to the XML code, with no success. Any ideas would be helpful.

Dynamic Toggle Visibility?

I am trying to create a report that should have a dynamic toggle visible, so that when the parent is of a certain type the toggle button (+, -) would not appear and in the other case it will.
Is this possible? I can use expressions in the visible field but not in the toggle one, so how can i manage it?

Matrix Toggle Image Visibility
Feb 25, 2008I'm attempting a create a matrix report that will have some rows with drilldown data and some without. On the rows without drilldown data, I wanted to hide the toggle image so that the user would know there was none available. So far, I've only been able to accomplish this by creating a duplicate row group and displaying no text for its cell. Then by changing its visibility, the toggle image would go away. However; while this makes the report look good, it breaks the export to excel because the other row column that contains the data must stay visible and the excel drill down functionality goes away.
Does anyone have a way of changing the visibility of the toggle image on a row by row basis within the Matrix control?
Any assistance would be appreciated!

Nov 5, 2015I already have a row visibility on the details group which is toggled by the Sum(Case_Load) Text box.
What I would now like to do is some columns to the right where the field is part of the details group but the column is only visible when it is toggled by the Sum(Case_Load) Text box.
I keep getting the message that "Toggle items must be text boxes that share the same scope as the hidden item or are in a scope that contains the hidden item, and cannot be contained within the current report item unless current grouping scope has a Parent"
Toggle Page Footer Visibility Based On Subreport Being Rendered
Nov 19, 2007I want to toggle the visibility of a report item in my page footer based on whether or not a particular subreport has been rendered.
The report has 3 subreports. The subreport above the subreport in question can span several pages, so the subreport I want information on can render on page 1 (for a short report) or page 12 (for example) on a longer report.
Is there a way to determine within the main report when a particular subreport has been rendered and is currently visible?

May 28, 2015I have a requirement where i have to display some data which is coming from a sub report when i click on an image. I have two problems here,
1) if i provide toggle on image text box it is displaying + symbol which i don't want
2) If i provide image properties -> action -> go to report -> it is displaying the values in a different page but my requirement is to display in the same page
Conclusion is : when i click on the image(without + symbolo) i have to display sub report values in the same page.

Apr 30, 2007Hi, I have a matrix report containing a parameter.The count of groups may change based on the parameter's value.Also these groups are connected to each other with toggle property.
For example;
--If the parameter's value is "year", the report have three (year, month, day) groups.Day is connected to month and month is connected to year with toggle property.
--If the parameter's value is "month", the report have two (month, day) groups.Day is connected to month with toggle property.
--If the parameter's value is "day", the report have one (day) group.There will be no toggle property.
The question is:
I wrote expressions for this report and set the visibility properties of the groups, but when I select the "day" or "month" value for the parameter, no groups are shown.I think the reason is "being connected to each other with toggle property".
How can I solve this?

Oct 14, 2015I am facing whitespace issue in my SSRS report. I have simple tablix report with 10 columns. I am trying to toggle column 5 to 8 using on column 4. The problem I am facing is the whitespace. Now column 5 to 8 are only visible when we expand column 4. When the report is rendered on the screen, there is a huge gap between column 4 and 9.

Jun 25, 2015I would like to suppress the entire row in tablix if no data despite multiple expresions used in a text box.
If data the it will show per the DB data else it should not show anythig or leave it as blank row
The issue is where I have appended ";" and "'" in the expressions but still comes in the report output because it is appended even if no data.

I think that there is a minor issue in my syntax.

May 19, 2015I Have an SSRS report which shows questions and answers pulled from a view tables.I have 3 rows: Row 1 shows questions and answers 1 - 128, row 2 shows questions and answers 128 to 248 and row 3 shows 248 onwards.I only want the row with the correct questions and answers to show.So am using this query for example:
=IIf((Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value > 247)
AND
(Fields!vQuestions_Response_value.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Response_value.Value > 247), False, True)
which fails.If I only use= IIf(Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value > 247, False, True) this works.What is the correct syntax for the multiple IIfs as i want both the criteria in the first query satisfied?

Mar 2, 2012VS 2008. I have the following set up. Group1, Group2, Group3 header, Group 3 detail rows..When I set the row visibility (hide based on Group2) on the Detail row, it still shows up when the report is originally rendered.
It should be: Group1 expanded, Group2 collapsed, Group3 header hidden and detail rows hidden
It is showing: Group1 expanded, Group2 collapsed, Group3 header hidden, Group3 detail row visible.
I never had this trouble in 2005. Is there something different about row visibility in 2008?
Reporting Services :: Visibility Not Enabled By Default On Exporting SSRS Report To PDF
Apr 18, 2013Most of our reports need to be rendered directly to PDF. And since we have multi paged reports, we have implemented document map to have navigation. while exporting to the PDF, Users want the Bookmarks to be visible by default. However, this is not the case. The bookmarks tab in the Navigation tools of Acrobat is not expanded rather we need to manually click on it to see the bookmarks. This behavior is different from Crystal Reports XIr2 where the bookmarks are defaulted to be visible when opening a PDF exported by crystal.Is there any way to replicate this behavior in SSRS too?

Default Parameter Value Is No Longer Part Of Cascading Parameter In SSRS 2005?

I need "conditional" cascading parameters: In Report Manager when one changes parameter 1, parameter 2 get changed based on parameter 1. Optionally, one can also enter values to parameter 2 directly.
I was able to achieve this in SSRS 2000 (SP2) with the following setups. SSRS 2005 and SP1 no longer works - Parameter 2 always shows its default value regardless whether one select a value in Parameter 1 or not.
Parameter 1
available values: from query
default values: non query (specify a value "<None>")
Parameter 2
available values: Non query (no value specified)
default values: from query (based on Parameter 1)
It seems to me that the default value in SSRS 2000 is considered as cascading parameter. But it is no longer the case in SSRS 2005.
Is this a SSRS 2005 bug? is there any other work arounds or suggestions?

Apr 22, 2015I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter. If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank. However, sometimes this will automatically add.
Is this a bug in Visual Studio? How do I get around this?

Jun 19, 2008Please can someone provide an overview of how to select all records in the parameter list. I am trying to get an understanding of how this works.
Having a union join with all value is fine, to retrieve the value of 'all'. However, given the data-set there is no 'all' value. From reading the ms course notes, the query syntax is: select from where = (field = @x) or @x = 'all'. How does this syntax work? Does x = all, so all= all = true then returns all records?

SSRS Report Parameter

I have a report that needs to return a number of columns from a table based on 2 parameters [StartDate & EndDate [datetime]].
Here is my dataset
Select * from table1 where start_date between @StartDate and @Enddate.
In table1 [start_date datetime ,example value=[3/6/2008 6:41:47 PM]]
My problem is how do I convert the start_date to [3/6/2008] within my Dataset.
Something like the below.[I get an error when I do the below]
Select * from table1 where convert(varchar(10),start_date,111) between @StartDate and @Enddate.
The reason for doing this is because when I pick, StartDate as 01/01/2008 and EndDate as 1/31/2008.My report only return's values of 01/01/2008 to 01/30/2008.The items that falls on 1/31/2008 do not get displayed as the datasets does not consider time when comparing,but only the date part.
Do give me a suggestion,solution to this.Thank You in advance!
SSRS Parameter Interface
Sep 6, 2007I don't want to use SSRS's GUI for parameter entry. It's quite minimal and not very easy to use for users and doesn't cope very well with large selection lists (E.g if you wanted to select 3 companies from a list of 60 000 to run a report for).
So I want to make my own parameter entry screen and then pass only the user parameter value selection on to the report parameters.
Can I do that? Are the parameters exposed?
I'd wanna do something like:
My_SSRS_Rep.param1=@MyValFromMyApp1
My_SSRS_Rep.param2=@MyValFromMyApp2
My_SSRS_Rep.Run/Refresh/View
Currently I just have a Windows form with a web browser control in it.
And I've set the url to http://myserver/reportserver?%2fDB+Report+Server%myRep&rs:Command=Render
So it is possible?
Or do I need to go about this some other way like using the SSRS Report Viewer or some other mechanism?

If this option is selected, I would like to display in the report that the parameter selected is "ALL" instead of using the Join(parameter!parametername.value,",") to display all the values. Any idea how I check to see if the select all at the beginning is checked?
