View 1 RepliesI'm having a problem importing a table using DTS from DB2. It seems that SQL Server can't recognize the DB2 "Date" format (eg 07/25/2001), which includes no time element. I assumed that SQL Server would simply throw a 12:00 AM time on each date it encountered, but instead I get errors, and the fields aren't imported at all. Any ideas on how I can get SQL Server and DB2 to play nice while importing the date fields? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using SQL Server Express and am trying to import a CVS file. The CVS file contains a string field (named DAS) that represents a Date. This field can be null.
I've tried using the DTS Wizard to import this CVS file and convert the DAS field to a Date, which works great until it hits a record with a NULL DAS field. It then throws a convertion error.
Still using the DTS Wizard, I've changed the DataType of the DAS field in the Source file to [DT_DATE], it works fine but all the null dates are converted to 12/30/1899.
Is there a way (DTS Wizard or something else) that will allow me to import these CVS files with null Date fields and keep them as null in SQL Server table.
Thanks for any help,

hi Dear All
How can i import data in SQL Server 2000 which contains the value of date field from 1800 yrs to till now
eg. 15/12/1860, 10/10/1896, 10/10/2006
but if i change the year of date value to 19?? then it's imported.
anybody can help me please!
Thanks in advance

I have a Data loading job using SSIS (Flat File to SSIS).
I been having issues with some bad data records while importing the file.
(Date Column).
Here is an example -- 7/31/0200 (Actually have around 600 Records of this nature)
While importing these records, the package fails as it cannot convert this "7/31/0200" string to a DATTIME Column Value.
Any idea on how i can overcome this?
I’m retrieving Yahoo quotes into my database and have run into an issue when the dates sometimes change format in the csv file retrieved.
I am retrieving  yahoo quotes via powershell, then running a package to import data to my table. This generally works expect when the yahoo date format changes.
Â
In the yahoo csv file, the dates normally come through in dd/mm/yyyy format. I find when a quote is old the format changes to mm/dd/yyyy, just for that particular quote.
When this happens, the package fails because the quote date format does not match my destination table format. i.e. mm/dd/yyyy vs dd/mm/yyyy
Â
When this occurs, I would like to skip the records in mm/dd/yyyy format altogether and have the rest of the quotes imported.
Â
One approach I can think of is to import the dates as a text type and do some data validation / conversion once imported but it feels like adding unnecessary steps.
Is there some other way I can achieve this within the process I already have?
Hi
I am trying to to import a flat file into a table in my database, i get all the values right except for the date, it keeps on inserting NULL values into the date fields.
The date format in the flat file is '20070708' etc.
Does anyone know what i can do to fix this?
I've tried to change the datatype values that it imports, but it still ignores it and inserts NULL values
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi all
My job is to create an import wizard in SQL Server 2005 the details as follows
I have a CSV data file from this data file has to be imported to a table in SQL Server 2005, but in this data file we have duplicate records which should not be imported to a table. I am importing this from using flat file object to a table, if I create table prior implementation with primary keys I could not able to import any data, if I remove primary key from the table it’ll easily get imported.
My question is how can ensure validations if at all it has primary key, suppose if I have around 100 records somewhere near 70 duplicate record is there, let it import all the records & throw error in log file saying that 70 record could not be imported because of primary key in the table.
Please suggest me to solve.
Thanks in advance,

Hi
I am currently trying import a Concordance database .txt file into SQL server 2005 through the import wizard and get the following error:
The preview sample contains embedded text qualifiers (þ). The flat file parser does not support embedding
(delimiter - chr(20)
text qualifier - chr(254) þ)
Do you know if SQL has fix to allow embedded text qualifiers now??
Many thanks!
Hi all,
From SQL Server 2000 Import wizard, if we use Copy Objects & data between SQL Server Databases it'll copies table with primary key. Similar to this what is the alternative method in SQL Server 2005.
Please suggest me to solve the problem
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
I am facing problem on importing csv data file into table,
For Ex:
csv file which has 2 columns & 4 records are as follows
EmpNo EmpName
1 a
2 b
3 c
1 a
I created new table called T4, structure of T4 is
EmpNo Varchar(50) with Primary Key
EmpName Varchar(50) disabled Allow Nulls
Now I started importing csv data to T4 table, during importing it couldn't finish entire process. Throwing error, when I remove primary key with disable Allow Nulls for both constraints of a table T4. Importing data successfull.
My question is if I have above said structure for the table T4 (with primary Key), during importing instead of throwing error let it be import first 3 rows then throw error as primary key enabled could not able to import. Is this can be possibe, if so please suggest me to solve the problem.Can I use Bulk Insert or SQL Scripts to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance

I purchased a domain and website, the sql file will not import properly. Can anyone shed some light on what the problem is?
I am getting this error:

I am trying to transfer with dts a table of As400 into a db sql-server.But i receave un error (2147217865)With Access i can import the table with the same ODBC.You have some suggestion ???thk by Logan bye bye

I am running SQL Server 2005. I created all the tables/columns/keys I needed. I export the data to Access.
In Access, I add all the data for the tables. Then I use SSIS to import-append the data back in to SQL Server 2005.
I get this error:

I can use the import tool (SSIS) to create new tables, but not append the data. Creating new tables makes all the tables to lose information about field lengths etc, so this is not an option
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi All
Im running SQL Express 2005 on my 64bit windows 2003 R2 server, and im having a problem converting some data over to the database. The error i get is:
There was a problem connecting to the library.mdb database (NormalSystem)
Additional Information:
Error [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data Source name not found and no default driver specified.
I have done a couple of searches on the net, but not found anything to do with SQL express 2005, and it mentions something about run64bitruntime.exe. I cannot seem to find this option anywhere in SQL server management studio Express.
Can someone help me on this issue
Thanks
Tim.
We are attempting to import data from Microsoft Access databases to SQL Server 2000 using the DTS Import/Export Wizard. I have a few questions.
1) Some of the Access tables have a single field for combined date time with the Access data type set to Date/Time and no formatting set. When the conversion happens these become text data type in the SQL Server. Is there a way to have these become either the smalldatetime SQL Server data type or datetime SQL Server data type?
2) On some other Access Tables with the data type set again to Date/Time again no formatting is set but some columns are dates with the date in the Short Date format, and some columns are times in the Short Time format. Some of these columns may contain null values. This is causing the following error.
Error at Destination for Row number 1. Errors encountered so far in this task: 1.
Insert error column 152 ('ViewMentalTime', DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP), status 6: Data overflow.
Insert error column 150 ('VRptTime', DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP), status 6: Data overflow.
Insert error column 147 ('ViewAppTime', DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP), status 6: Data overflow.
Insert error column 144 ('VPreTime', DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP), status 6: Data overflow.
Insert error column 15 ('Time', DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP), status 6: Data overflow.
Invalid character value for cast specification.

Invalid character value for cast specification.
We thought maybe it was due to the naming of the one field as "Time" so we changed the name of that field but again the same error occurs but with the new field name.
When we click on the transform button to view the data types none of them are listed as timestamp.
Is it possible that the DB Admin saved some tables and then later on tried to add tables to the same database that is causing this error?
Are we better off trying to import the table structure first and then fill the tables later?
Any help is appreciated.

I can't import a package from the SSIS to the file system of my SQL Server Management Studio. Every time i've tried the following message appears. What should i do to correct this problem? Any ideas?

We have an Access97 database with 122 tables. I try to use import and export wizard to import the data from access into SQL 2005 database. I find an interesting problem. When select all tables, the wizard give following errors:

But if I divide importing as 2 steps:
1. import all tables before PlanClasses, it works.
2. import all tables after PlanClasses including PlanClasses, it works.
If I just import PlanClasses itself, it works, but I can not import all tables at once. Interesting thing is if I just unselect PlanClasses, it will have same error at the class right after PlanClasses. Is there size limitation when doing import at once?
Hi! When i'm importing into ReportServer report made with Access i've got those errors:
An error occurred while the report Bank Account Transactions By Type was being imported: Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: '[Bank_x0020_Account_x0020_Transactions_x0020_By_x0020_Type].Parameters![trans type]' Key being added: '[Bank_x0020_Account_x0020_Transactions_x0020_By_x0020_Type].Parameters![trans type]'

What is the meaning of those errors? I thought it was because ReportServer was trying to add 2 or more parameter with the same Name but for example in my report Bank Account Transactions By Type i only have one textbox that use the name trans type. So is someone have an idea?
Thanks !
When ever importing a excel file or flat file, I get an Unhandled exception error and the event log reads a .Netframework error ID 1000.
Checking the database I was importing into, I find that the table was created with the columns, but no data within the columns.
The import wizards report 509 row copyed before crashing with the Handle error, where a dialog box appears allowing debug or close.
Can anyone help?
I include the logged errors.

Hi,
My excel sheet consists of mix data types, numbers and characters but when we use excel source in data flow it onlys recognises characters and displays number as NULL. After going through this link
http://www.***s-blog.com/archives/2004/06/03/external-data-mixed-data-types/
The above link displays *** in url as it pronounces as deeks, so u need to replace "ee" as "ic" and u can see the blog.
I modified my excel source as Select * from[Excel 8.0;HDR=YES;IMEX=1;Database=C:Test.xls;].[Sheet1$]; It displays all the columns and values properly when previewed but when we execute the package it gives error as
Error: 0xC0202009 at Test, Connection manager "Excel Connection Manager": SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.
An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.
Please help

Got an error of
Error during Transformation 'DirectCopyXform' for Row number 813. Errors encountered so far in this task: 1.
TransformCopy 'DirectCopyXform' conversion error: Destination does not allow NULL on column pair 1 (source column 'Customer' (DBTYPE_R8), destination column 'Customer' (DBTYPE_STR))
What does that mean?
I have an excel file named Customer List with fields such as Customer, Name, City.
I want to import it into a syspro table called SyproCompanyF.ArCustomer.
Hi!
This is what i'm doing:
IF EXISTS (SELECT srvname FROM master.dbo.sysservers srv WHERE srv.srvid !=
0 AND srv.srvname = N'ExcelSource')
EXEC master.dbo.sp_dropserver @server=N'ExcelSource', @droplogins='droplogins';
-
EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver
@server = 'ExcelSource',
@srvproduct = 'Excel',
@provider = 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',
@datasrc = @Chemin,
@provstr = 'Excel 8.0';
EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedsrvlogin
@rmtsrvname = 'ExcelSource',
@useself = false,
@locallogin = NULL,
@rmtuser ='ADMIN',
@rmtpassword = NULL;
set @NomServ = 'ExcelSource';
This create a linkedServer to read my ExcelFile.
Then i'm doing this:
EXEC ('Insert into Elements (No_element, Nom_elem, Desc_elem, Code_grpe_classe, Tps_elem, Code_sgrpe, Code_produit)
Select No_element, Nom_elem, Desc_elem, Code_grpe_classe, Tps_elem, Code_sgrpe, Code_produit
from ' + @NomServ + '...[Elements$];')
This is where i got an error. The error is:
The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "ExcelSource" does not contain the table "Elements$". The table either does not exist or the current user does not have permissions on that table.
I can't figure out what i'm missing. I've add permissions for EVERYONE on the file and on the folder just to be sure and i still have the same error. How can i check if the table [Elements$] exist ?

Hi,I have a problem with updating a datetime column,When I try to change the Column from VB I get "Incorrect syntax near'942'" returned from [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]'942' is the unique key column valueHowever if I update any other column the syntax is fineThe same blanket update query makes the changes no matter what isupdatedThe problem only happens when I set a unique key on the date field inquestionKey is a composite of an ID, and 2 date fieldsIf I allow duplicates in the index it all works perfectlyI am trying to trap 'Duplicate value in index' (which is working onother non-date columns in other tables)This is driving me nutsAny help would be appreciated

as i said i'm using a sql server 2005 sp2. i tried the scripted method when i did not have sp2 in sql server and it worked without a problem. after installing sp2 it seems it does not want to work anymore. i also tied making a backup of a sql server 2005 database, deleting the database and restoring it and it worked again.
can somebody give me any advice on this problem?
I am having problems reading from and ODBC conncetion from Oracle RDB into SSIS. I am using a DataReader source which uses a ADO.NET odbc connection to an oracle RDB database. I am having that write to a flat file. When I read integers from the source, it works just fine. When I read character data (char(48) for example), it gives me trucation errors. Is the DataReader source capable of reading char data from an odbc connection?
Here is the errors I receive:

I've got an SSIS package that I've been testing all week and it runs fine in Visual Studio. The package uses an OLE DB connection manager to access the dBase files using the Jet Provider. The dBase files are stored on a remote file share. There are a series of identical files held in different dated folders. I use a ForEach loop to move through the folder list and import the data as I go. When I deploy it to the server and try to run it, I get the following:
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Aloha" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
Aloha is the ConncetionManager to the dBase files. I've searched everywhere I can for ideas on how to solve this. I've made the SQL Agent Service is running under the same account I used to author the package. I've made sure that the package is using Server Storage. Everything looks like it should be working.
Can anyone give me any other items I can look into?
Thanks!
Barry Austin
I am having a problem importing data from xls and access into my SQL2005 DB using SSIS. Would appreciate any help in getting this resolved. Environment: Xeon 64 bit processor machine/Win 2003 64 bit (x64)/SQL 2005 64 bit Some of the resources that I have dug up so far have pointed to Jet Engine SP8 and WOW64. A search on the box shows this: C:WindowsSysWOW64Msjet40.dll €“ File version is 4.0.9025.0 Not sure what is missing. The following is the error from the import from xls.
