I am trying to import multiple .csv files to excel sheets using Script task in SSIS.
I have trouble importing the reference that allows us to read and write to excel sheets. Can anyone help me create a script task that will import multiple .csv files to excel sheets.

Hi guys,
I wanted to know if there was a way to import multiple sheets from one excel file into one sql table in one go.
I have an excel file which has 15 sheets and want to import them into one table in one process rather than having to create 15 table and then joining into one table.
I am using Sql Server 2005(enterprise edition) v9 SP2.

I have a client who is sending me 800+ excel files each month with sales data. Each of the files is identical in structure, but has sales data for different stores. I receive all these files at the same time.
Is there a method with Data Transformation Services where I can have it work off of all the files in a given directory. I can set up DTS to work off of specific Excel files with no problem, but what I would like to do is set up a DTS so it could pull from each of the 800+ files.
Is this possible, or do I need to look at a solution outside of SQL to consolidate the Excel files first?
The Excel file would have columns similar to the following: store_id, zip_code, sales, transactions.

hello,
i need to transfer (migrate ) the data from xl sheet to sqlserver but actually the thing is if the source excel file has different sheets, in each sheet i have the data
and i need to move the entire data( all the data that is present in all sheets of the excel file) to a single table into sql server
like wise i have many xl files ( which have many sheets ) .
for eg:
excel file 1:
-> sheet 1
-> sheet 2
-> sheet 3
excel file 2:
-> sheet 1
-> sheet 2
-> sheet 3
excel file 3:
-> sheet 1
-> sheet 2
-> sheet 3
now i need to get the data from all of the files and i need to insert into a single table ( sql server) in ssis package

I have an excel file that has multiple sheets and I need to import data from each separate sheet to a separate table using SSIS.Â
E.g. Sheet A data should go to Table A and Sheet B data should go to Table B and so on. Is it possible to do this with out using script task.

Hello all!
Actually I've got multiple questions - but will start with 1. :)
My task in three words:
Use Grand Prix data and make it so that you can ask questions to it via SQL Server or by using Excel.
What I did so far:
I gathered the GrandPrix data from f1db.com - I stored the data in multiple Excel Files - I created a Formule1 database - I created separate packages for all the data. Which means, im cloning the data from Excel to SQL Server.
What I'm doing now:
In SQL Server Management Studio I am creating new tables in which I store (using SQL queries) the data from the packages that I loaded into the Database. This is going very well so far - and I'm proud of that. ;)
The problem:
Most Excel files have only 1 sheet and where the first row are the identifying column-names. I now however have 1 Excel files that exists of multiple sheets, perhaps 40 or something. I could create a package and run this which would result in 40 new tables in SQL Server Management Studio. I bet that would work just fine. But how - and here comes the main question - do I copy information from those 40 tables (former sheets) into 1 new table.
it's hard to explain what I want to be the result...

I saw a post with this same subject line, posted in July of 2006, but with no replies. I am now having precisely the same problem.
I am importing data from an OLE DB source. I want to directly store this data in an Excel file. There are far more than 65,536 rows in the DB table, but the version of Excel I have only tolerates a maximum of that many. My solution is to divide the data into separate worksheets within the same Excel file. At any given time, I do not know exactly how many rows are moving from the database to the Excel file, so is there a way to dynamically create a new worksheet every time I reach 65,536 rows?

I am using .rdlc report in ASP.NET 2.0.
My report consists of 10 subreport and 1 main report. I want to export each subreport in separate sheets like Shee1 is Subreport1 and Sheet2 is Subreport2 etc... How can i do this.

I have a report , it's very simple . just only showing all records.
I used the function RowNumber to show pagination.
It 's ok that I export to PDF file. but when I exported to a excel , I find every report pagination export to multiple sheets in excel.
I don't need this, I need show all data in one sheet,not multiple sheets.
Are there any solutions of this problem?

Hi All,
I have problem in loading multiple excel sheets data in to according to that excelsheets tables in a DB.
All the excel sheets are in a folder,from that folder i have to acces all excel sheets.
For this i am unsing script task and one dataflow task.
But the error is coming in script task i am not able to put the path in the script..
Is this the correct way to do like this? Or any other way?

I have an excel file which contains lots of sheets. Some of them are named as DW-<day>-<month> (for e.g; DW-1-July). Like this I have sheets for the whole month. I have other sheets too with a different name. I would like to import data from these sheets only (DW ones). Upon my research I have found that this can be achieved via For Each Loop Container (I guess!).Â
Post data import, I have a set of T-SQL query that I plan to execute via Execute SQL Task.Â

I have a couple of hundred flat files to import into database tables using SSIS.
The files can be divided into groups by the format they use. I understand that I could import each group of files that have a common format at the same time using a Foreach Loop Container.
However, the example for the Foreach Loop Container has multiple files all being imported into the same database table. In my case, each file needs to be imported into a different database table.
Is it possible to import each set of files with the same format into different tables in a simple loop? I can't see a way to make a Data Flow Destination item accept its table name dynamically, which seems to prevent me doing this.
I suppose I could make a different Data Flow Destination item for each file, in the Data Flow. Would that be a reasonable solution, or is there a simpler solution, or should I just resign myself to making a separate Data Flow for every single file?

I'm having a tough time importing some of my legacy database into sql.
I have a number of dbase (IV) files I need to get into SQL. I have tried building a SSIS package with either an foxpro oledb connection or a jet 4.0 one, none of them work bec. of inconsistencies in the data format in my tables (e.g. date fields, etc).
I have tried to save the .dbfs as excel 2007 files, taking advantage of the larger space that comes with '07. Problem is you can't use the import/export wizard with 2007 for some reason and I haven't been able to create a package with the access 12 oledb as I have read.
I have to get some crucial data out of that old system and into the new one and I can't seem to be able to import them properly.
Any hints on what I should do ? (maybe I'm doing something awfully wrong)

I have several regular reports that are produced by different offices that I need to import the data from. Â The challenge lies in the fact that the reports are not simply columns of data. Â Some cells are labels, others contain data, and some contain both. Â Also, the formatting of the reports isn't strictly uniform from office to office. Â Is it possible to read this kind of sheet? Â Excel data sources seem to just define everything in a column as data, and that doesn't work for me. Â Is there an alternative, or perhaps a more manual way of defining what cells contain data?

I have a folder on an SFTP server in our internal network which gets flat files periodically (almost every minute) from another server. The file structure is like this:
Flat File Format•Line 1—List of field names comma separated •Line 2—List of field type comma separated •Line 3—Data comma separated •Line 4—Data comma separated and so on...
All the files will be like this without the .csv extention. There are a lot of fields and creating a column for each field manually will be a pain. Heres what I am trying to do:
1. Create a process that runs periodically on the server and imports data from files into the SQL server table.
2. Use the information in line 1 and 2 to create the schema of the table and then ignore those lines in every import (the data should be appended to the existing data).
What are my options?

I spent some time in understanding where could be the error. I traced it to the following place. If you take a look at the Lesson#2 in creating a simple ETL package in SSIS, using foreach loop container to import files into SQL server, as soon as I finish going through steps in configuring the file connection manager to use the variable for connectionstring, it immediately disappears. I repeated the tutorial three times exactly as I pointed out and when I reach to this step of configuring file connection manager for connectionstring, it takes the path and when I start debugging it, I get this error. When I go and check if everything is Ok, the connectionstring value is empty.
Why the value in connectionstring disappears?

I know from experience that the Excel connection mechanisms are somewhat limited. I was wondering if anyone has come across a solution to this problem.
We receive an excel file from a business line. Basically a list of account mods for a given month. Due to the tabular nature of Excel, sometimes the amount of mods exceeds the limits of one tab and has to roll over into a second tab. The names of the tabs reflect the file creation date, which often is the last day of the month, but not always. Here is a question related to this-
Is there a way to "query" a the list of tabs in an Excel file, so that I could store that record set in an SSIS variable, use it to loop through all the tabs? If no, can you think of a way to somehow get the value of the tab name or names so that I can use it to dynamically set the OpenRowset value of the Excel Data Source?

Hello all,
I'm new to SSIS and have a question about the best way to generate multiple Excel files with my current package design. I have a stored procedure that I run from an Execute SQL Task in a foreach loop container, and it generates results as appropriate for each of the parameters it loops through.
What's the best way to take the result set from each of those executions and generate an Excel file from each set? How do I map that result set variable to be the input for creating a new Excel file? Is this best done as a script task somehow?
Should I not be using SSIS for this task? I thought I would just create a package and schedule it to run daily with SQL Agent, and it would autogenerate the Excel files as needed.

I have over 600+ Excel .xlsx file that I have been trying to import to Sql database table. I've been trying to complete this task with SSIS but no luck yet. I have seen several videos and read articles but when I run the package the source is validated but I always get an error in the destination. I am using Excel 2010 and SQL Server 2012.

I need to make a gigantic collection of excel sheets searchable from a web interface.I need entire rows fetched into a webpage depending on the users query.Mind you I'm not searching the names (filenames) of these excel files, butthe contents inside the excel file. I have a report with multiple tables that I am rendering in Excel. Each table has a page break.
The Excel output has multiple sheets as intended. However, the sheet tabs are labeled "Sheet 1", "Sheet 2" etc.
I would like to put my own labels on those tabs to describe the table that is on that sheet.
Is there any property I can set to do this?
By the way, I am running the reports as a console application in VB .NET 2005. So there may be some VB trick for doing this as well.
