I am developing SSIS dataflow component. Extended user interface is based on class IDtsComponentUI. Connection properties are created in both standart and my extended editor (Extended user interface). To set up designtime connection I use standart and my extended editor.
A main PipelineComponent component have two runtime connection:
to set up IDTSRuntimeConnection90[0] connection using connections from a current package. After this operation the RuntimeConnectionCollection[0] is not null within the method PipelineComponent.AcquireConnections((object transaction)). ! But during next launching of Extended user interface the RuntimeConnectionCollection[0] is null within the method PipelineComponent.AcquireConnections((object transaction)). Why do I lose the connection? And why the connections which set up in my Advanced editor do not save in standart editor?
I have a For Loop container where each iteration a Master record is inserted. I also have a number of package variables capturing rowcounts from the dataflow task. I later update the master record with the rowcounts. How do I initialize the package variables containing the rowcounts because currently, some of the rowcounts are being populated with rowcounts from another file.
I would like to fetch the data flow component name while package is executing. Since system variable named [System::SourceName] only fetches name of the control flow tasks? Is there a way to capture them?
I have a package that has a data lfow task. this task imports data from a db2 database (using the IBM Ole DB provider fro db2) and adds it to sql server database table. This package was created on the server. then though version control (using TFS source control) I check out the package on my local machine. and when I open the package I get the foll 3 errors.
Error 1 Validation error. Import Account Num from BMGP_BDR: DTS.Pipeline: The component metadata for "component "DataReader Source" (1113)" could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component. The PerformUpgrade method failed.

I have a package which reads an Access file from a folder. My connection manager to this file is .NET providers for OledbMicrosoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider.
Package works from my computer. But when I execute it on the server as a SQL Agent job, I get
The component metadata for "component "DataReader Source" (1) could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component. The PerformUpgrade method failed.
I copied the mdb file to a folder on the server which my packages have no problem reading data from.
My packages run under the same domain account as defined in proxies.
I have this block of code that is in a child package (see below).
The idea is, I want to be able to run the child package by calling it from the parent package AND sometimes I want to be able to run the child package on its own, in which case it will not have access to the variables in the parent package, i.e. "TEST". That is, the "TEST" variable will not be "seen" by the child package because the TEST variable lives at the parent level, not the child level.
In the case of running the child package on its own, it won't find the TEST variable, and it should fail.
However, I do not want the script task to fail as I have a try catch block but it fails anyway even with the exit try. What am I missing please?
Thank you.
Try Dim vars As Variables Dts.VariableDispenser.LockForWrite(€œTEST€?) 'this is a variable in the parent package Dts.VariableDispenser.GetVariables(vars) Try vars(€œTEST€?).Value = €œI€™m Done€?
Catch ex As Exception Throw ex Finally vars.Unlock() End Try Catch ex As Exception €˜ what can I put here so that the script task does not fail? Exit try €˜Throw ex - do not want this End Try
I had a DTS package on sql2000 which i migrated succesfully to Sql2005 and im able to open the package and execute the package. Now i want to add a new database mail component on this package to send emails to recepients. In short i dont want to use SQL Mail component of Sql2000 which required outlook components, instead i want to use the new features of SSIS to my package which was designed on sql2000. Is it possible to use the SSIS new features to be incorporated on my old DTS package?
I have a SSIS package that has several Execute SQL Components. One of the first components reurns a Full Result Set of IDs based on a stored procedure call. The stored procedure can return multiple rows. I store the results to an ADO recordset (object variable) to be used later. I want the component to fail, and the package if the return of the stored procedure is zero records. What is the best way to do this? I had a raise error statement if @@rowcount was zero but this did not fail the component. Any other suggestions?
I am trying to load data to a sql table from flat file..I have a script component which will validate the data. I am also firing the errros when data validation fails. Once I encounter an error I want the whole package to be aborted. What I have done is declared a variable called errorcount (Scope :Package) and I am incrmenting this variable everytime an error is raised and next I have a Conditional Split which will check if this variable count is greater than 0 if yes I will not update the table. This is the only way I think this will work.
error I am getting is :The collection of variables locked for read and write access is not available outside of PostExecute.
I understand they r in the same data flow thats the reason I get this error but how can I by pass it ?
MY dataflow-> Flat File Source-Script Comp-Condtional Split-(If errorCount==0)-SQL Table
How can I redo the dataflow so that this err is not raised.
I have tried to add an output column (blnContinue) and use that in conditional stmt but as this is stored at row level values which have blnContinue as true are getting processed, I dont want this I just want to stop the package execution even if a single validation fails
I am trying to reference a package level variable in a script component (in the Code) and am unable to do so successfully. I have it listed as a ReadOnlyVariables in the custom properties of the script component, however unable to reference it in the code.
If you try to "enable memory restriction" from the Lookup component GUI you need to input both 32 and 64 bit size of maximum memory. However when clicking "OK" on the editor you get a message like :
TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio ------------------------------
Error at Update Execution Logs [Lookup folder path 1 [4429]]: Failed to set property "MaxMemoryUsage64" on "component "Lookup folder path 1" (4429)".
I have a data flow that uses an OLEDB Source Component to read data from a table. The data access mode is SQL Command. The SQL Command is:
select lpartid, iCallNum, sql_uid_stamp from call where sql_uid_stamp not in (select sql_uid_stamp from import_callcompare)
I wanted to add additional clauses to the where clause.
The problem is that I want to add to this SQL Command the ability to have it use a package variable that at the time of the package execution uses the variable value.
The package variable is called [User::Date_BeginningYesterday]
select lpartid, iCallNum, sql_uid_stamp from call where sql_uid_stamp not in (select sql_uid_stamp from import_callcompare) and record_modified < [User::Date_BeginningYesterday]
I have looked at various forum message and been through the BOL but seem to missing something to make this work properly.
The article, is the closest I have (what I belive) come to finding a solution. I am sure the solution is so easy that it is staring me in the face and I just don't see it. Thank you for your assistance.
In my SSIS package I am looping multiple flat file to load data into target table. I have used one variable to get that filename. I have error log table which used to log the invalid record which come from various files.
All are working fine , except I want to log the filename also in my error log table. How can we use the package variable to assign the variable value in script component.so that I can map the output column to target table. I have created Filename column in script component in output column tab.
I have created a data flow task. In that, in a 'data conversion', if a column fails validation then that row is redirected to a script component, which in turn writes the error to a variable.
But though the error is generated and script component receives the error, package doesnt fail.
Is there any way to set the package result to failure inside the script component? I tried set 'FailPackageOnFailure' to true but doesnt work.
I have created a Integration Services package that takes a table in a database, and transfers it to a flat file. This package has successfully run through visual studio 2005 as a .dtsx package, and given the output that I expected.
However, now, I am trying to excecute the package (as xml) using C#, and I am receving this error:
Error in Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.TaskHost/DTS.Pipeline : The product level is insufficient for component "Flat File Destination" (31).
I do not understand how a working package would have this kind of error.
Considering that it runs when I do not use C# code to execute the package means that I have SSIS properly installed, and I have the proper versions (or it should not execute ever). I have SP1 for both SQL Server 2005, and Visual Studio 2005 installed.
Other packages that I have created using C# code also have the same problem.
I am trying to call a SSIS package from a web service hosted on the same machine as the package file is sitting. The package is running fine from the Agent and also by the "Integration Services Project" in VS.NET.
I had a lot of problems with permissions but they are resolved, at least I have no error messages to point to that direction. Now I am getting these results:
1. Error: -1073659874 / Description: The file name "\Diver-svrInputDataFilesdn_cust.txt" specified in the connection was not valid.
I have a package with a custom log provider, which runs in BIDS. However when I deploy the package onto SQL Server and run it on the deployed machine, if fails:
"failed to decrypt protected XML node DTS:Password...key not valid for use in specified state..."
Now this is definately to do with the custom log, as if I take it out & redeploy, I can run it on the deplyed server + also run it within a job. I have entered the custom log provider library (+ other required DLLs) in the GAC on the deployed machine, but I'm clearly missing something.
I have to import a list of users and then add them to my Sql database via .NET framework APIs Now the following code works from within my web application but I cannot get it to run in an ssis transormation script.
Has anyone got experience with this requirement in an SSIS package script?
Code Block
Public Overrides Sub Input0_ProcessInputRow(ByVal Row As Input0Buffer)
Static users As New System.Collections.Hashtable
Dim password As String = String.Empty
If (Not users.ContainsKey(GetUserCode(Row.UserID))) Then
while executing the package following error message is received as :
Error: 2006-07-28 15:12:36.60 Code: 0xC00470FE Source: Data Flow Task DTS.Pipeline Description: The product level is insufficient for component "Data Conversion" (202). End Error
and at the end as :
DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1).
Same error appers while executed from Integration Services - ->stored packages - - >name of the package -> mouse right button, run package.
But the same executes perfectly from visual studio, where it is developed.
I have a Data Flow Script Component(Destination Type) and in the properties I have a read/write variable called User::giRowCount
User::giRowCount is populated by a Row Count Component previously in the Data Flow.
After reading http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=97494&SiteID=1 it is very clear that you can actually only use variables in the PostExecute of a Data Flow Script Component or you will get an error "Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ReadWriteVariablesNotAvailableException: The collection of variables locked for read and write access is not available outside of PostExecute."
What I need to do is actually create a file in the PreExecute and write the number of records = User::giRowCount as second line as part of the header, I also need to parse a read/write variable such as gsFilename to save me hardcoding the path
-they must go in the PreExecute sub --workarounds please-here is the complete script component that creates a file with header, data and trailer --Is there any workaround
Public Class ScriptMain Inherits UserComponent 'Dim fs As FileStream Dim fileName As String = "F:FilePickUpMyfilename.csv" 'Dim fileName = (Me.Variables.gsFilename.ToString)
Dim myFile As FileInfo = New FileInfo(fileName) Dim sw As StreamWriter = myFile.CreateText Dim sbRecord As StringBuilder = New StringBuilder
Public Overrides Sub PreExecute()
sbRecord.Append("RECORD_START").Append(vbNewLine)
End Sub
Public Overrides Sub ParsedInput_ProcessInputRow(ByVal Row As ParsedInputBuffer)
Public Overrides Sub PostExecute() sbRecord.Append("RECORD_COUNT").Append((vbTab)) sbRecord.Append(Me.Variables.giRowCount.ToString).Append(vbNewLine) sbRecord.Append("RECORD_END").Append(vbNewLine) 'Now write to file before next record extract sw.Write(sbRecord.ToString) 'Clear contents of String Builder sbRecord.Remove(0, sbRecord.Length)
I am trying to develop a SSIS package which will read the records from the flat file and insert them into a destination table. I have some validations written in script component. I have declared two Read Write variables with package level scope. when i try to assign a value to the variable in the script component and run the package, the package throws me an error "The collection of variables locked for read and write access is not available outside of PostExecute".
What should be done to over come the problem please help me on this regard
I am using vb.net 2005 and SQL Server 2005.. I have deployed some of my packages on the server.. Now if i am trying execute packages with SSIS object model from any of developement PC they are executing perfectly. But as soon as i am trying to execute them from client pc - where no any component except (.netframwork) -- i am getting the follwoing error:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E}
Can any one help me out..? i have gone through some of the article stating that SQL client componet must be installed on the computer from where app runs...
Is there any other solution to use SSIS object model...
In a Data Flow, I have the necessity to use a SSIS variable of type €œObject€? inside Script Component and assign to it the content of 'n' variables of string type. On exiting from the script the variable of type object should contain something like in the following lines: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD €¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦. €¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦. On exiting from the data flow I will use the variable of type Object in a Script Task, by reading each element in a cyclic fashion. Is there anyone who have experienced something like this? Could anyone provide any example of that? Thanks in advance!
Hi all I'm into a project which uses a lot of views for joining 2 or more tables. Using the MERGE component in SSIS will be a huge effort coz it only has 2 inputs and I gotta SORT the input too. Isnt it possible to have a VIEW like component that joins more than 2 tables and DOESNT need sorting?? (I've thought about creating views in database engine but it breaks my data floe in SSIS and is'nt a practical solution)
I am writing a custom dataflow transformation component and I need to get the name of the preceeding component.
I have been trying to find a way to get a reference to the Package object, MainPipe object or IDTSPath90 object (connecting to the IDTSInput90 of my component) from my component because I think from there I can get to the information I want.
No idea where this bug crept in from. Have been using SSIS for 1.5 years now without hitting this problem.
I had a script component opening an XML document and parsing it using XPATH. I added some code that uses StreamReader / Streamwriter (closing one stream before starting the other). The code works without issue in my C# app.
And it ran without issue 2-3 times in SSIS. Then suddenly after running my package again, the script component says it completes successfully, yet nothing happens. I set a breakpoint on the first line of code - it never hits it. I add a msgbox as the first line of code - and it never displays.
I then close my package / exit out of ssis ... and then re-open it. When i open my script component, all of my code is GONE. All references that I added are gone.
I tried adding the streamreader/writer process to a dll I created from my c# app ... and added the DLL to the package -- same result.
I can reproduce this on 2 different computers.
Anyone experience this problem ? Any idea how to stop it ? Or debug it ?
Here is a slimmed down code sample of what causes the error :
Public Class ScriptMain Public Sub Main() Try Dim xmlDoc As New XmlDocument xmlDoc.Load("c:ulkasync_86281519_20070628045850225_4.xml") MsgBox("xmlLoaded") --this doesn't display once the package starts "acting up" Catch ex As Exception MsgBox(ex.Message) UpdateXML("c:ulkasync_86281519_20070628045850225_4.xml", ex.Message) End Try Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success End Sub Private Sub UpdateXML(ByVal fileName As String, ByVal message As String) Try Dim invalidChar As String = message.Trim().Substring(message.Trim().IndexOf("0x"), 4) Dim rd As StreamReader = New StreamReader(fileName) Dim xml As String = rd.ReadToEnd() Xml = Xml.Replace(invalidChar, String.Empty) xml = xml.Replace("", String.Empty) xml = xml.Replace("<![CDATA[<![CDATA[", "<![CDATA[") xml = xml.Replace("]]>]]>", "]]>") MsgBox("replaced") rd.Close() Dim wr As StreamWriter = New StreamWriter(fileName) wr.Write(xml) wr.Close() Dim xdoc As XmlDocument = New XmlDocument() xdoc.Load(fileName) Catch ex As Exception UpdateXML(fileName, ex.Message) End Try End Sub End Class
