Hello,
I am using a script to send mails from MSSQL 2000 server. The script is trying to use the ASPMail object is located within a SQL Job or DTS package in the SQL database. It is not being run through an ASP page. The ASPMail object works fine if running in an ASP page running on win2003 server. It DOES NOT work when trying to create the object within SQL ActiveX VB script running on mssql server. If I am using this script in a job and use Microsoft's Enterprise Manager it only tells me that the job failed. If I try to use this script in a DTS package I get the error: 'Can not create object ("SMTPsvg.Mailer"). If I use a third database manager I get the following error: 'Execute permission denied on object xp_ServiceControl database' Please let me know what is causing this and how to fix it. The script goes as below
'*************************************************
' Visual Basic ActiveX Script
'*************************************************
Dim Mailer
Set Mailer = CreateObject("SMTPsvg.Mailer")
Mailer.FromName = "Webmaster"
Mailer.FromAddress = "webmaster@domainname.com"
Mailer.RemoteHost = "mail.domainname.com"
Mailer.AddRecipient "user", "mailid@domainname.com"
Mailer.Subject = "Test ASP Mail"
Mailer.BodyText = "Test"
x = Mailer.SendMail
Set Mailer = Nothing
Any help is appreciated

Hi All,
I am new to SQL Server 2005, I need Help to create a SSIS package for the below taks,
My task is Refer a Column [Status] in the Logtable which is used to maintain the logs for the running processes, When ever any Rows with the "FAIL" status in Status column occurs in the LogTable then get the Respective ErrorRowNumber and get the Details of the Error from other 2, 3 tables which will be a simple SQL statements, when you get the Error Details then mail these details to the given Email id.
For this I need a help In creating a SSIS package which will continuously check the Status and if any FAIL status occurs then the Error details need to mail to mail id which are stored in the config files of SSIS package.
If any one has better idea to send the mails then please let me know.
if any online tutorial is available that will also help.
Thanks in advance

Can anyone help me with a problem I have with SSRS 2005? How do I configure SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services to deliver subscription e-mails to addresses external to my windows domain?
I've been having trouble configuring the Report Server e-mail delivery component to send subscription e-mails to addresses outside the domain on which the report server is hosted.
For e.g. since my local windows domain is named "smartsystems.com", I have found that the Report Manager does not have any problems sending subscription mails to "eawagu@smartsystems.com" but throws up an error whenever I include "eawagu@yahoo.com" in the recipients' list.
Any insights?

I am using a Send Mail task inside a For Each container that pull variables from a query. The package finishes without any errors every time. When there is no CC recipient, however, the email is seeminlyg never sent/recieved. I checked the SMTP logs and it looks like the SMTP relay is getting the message. The mail works fine if I add a CC. I've tested this by itself, and outside the For Each container there is no problem.
Has anyone seen this problem?

i have a package that contains a foreach loop container, in this container i have sql tasks, and execute package tasks, that end with a send mail task. if there something wrong with the smtp server, or it's down, the send mail task fails the package.
i don't want this to happen, what i want that if the send mail taks fails, the package will continue it's execution.
--i thought of using the event handler... but i don't know if it works...

Hi,
A few months ago, I was trying to install SQL Server 2005 SP2 on a cluster (Active-Active), the Cluster has 3 instances, 2 lives in one node and the other one in the other node. When I try to make the deployment an error message appear, I do not have the error right now but it€™s something like €œCould not connect to the passive node, installation failed€?. The worst part of the error was all instances shut down and I couldn€™t bring on line and I have to reinstall all instances. I need to install SP2 but I€™m a little afraid fail again. Do you know the best way to deploy the SP2 on a cluster? Maybe move all instances in one node before install SP2? Can you help me with your comments. Do you think I have problems with the windows cluster?
Thanks and Regards,

Hi all,
When i attempted to connected to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express via ASP.NET 2.0 application, it seems to throw the following error.
I had set up the Protocols for Express (TCP/IP and Named Pipes are both enabled) to allow remote connections using both TCP/IP and named pipes.
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
Source Error:
The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:
1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:
<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>
or:
2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:
<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.
Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

Can anyone help me to create a URL decode user defined function in SQL Server 2005?
I want to use the method [System.Web.HttpUtility.UrlDecode] in .net framework, and I try to add it as a CLR function to SQL Server but always fail. It depends on [System.Web.dll], and when I try to create assembly [System.Web] using following scripts, it will fail:
CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.Web] FROM 'C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.Web.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE
Error:
CREATE ASSEMBLY for assembly 'System.Web' failed because assembly 'System.Web' is not authorized for PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE.
The assembly is authorized when either of the following is true:
the database owner (DBO) has UNSAFE ASSEMBLY permission and the database has the TRUSTWORTHY database property on;
or the assembly is signed with a certificate or an asymmetric key that has a corresponding login with UNSAFE ASSEMBLY permission.
If you have restored or attached this database, make sure the database owner is mapped to the correct login on this server. If not, use sp_changedbowner to fix the problem.
I have searched the MSDN and then add following scripts before mine:
ALTER DATABASE [DatabaseName] SET TRUSTWORTHY ON
CREATE ASYMMETRIC KEY SystemWebKey FROM EXECUTABLE FILE = 'C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.Web.dll'
CREATE LOGIN CLRLogin FROM ASYMMETRIC KEY SystemWebKey
GRANT UNSAFE ASSEMBLY TO CLRLogin
But unfortunately it fails again with same error.

I tried installing SQL 2005 Dev Edition on my Win 2000 Professional machine. That failed. But now I cannot send out emails or even open a simple Email task from DTS. This is something that worked perfectly fine before I attempted the SQL 2005 installation. It seems that the SQL 2005 installation somehow messed up the the MAPI profile. The exact error message that I get when trying to execute or open a Email task in DTS is: CAnnot load MAPI Interface layer for DTS. Please make sure that semmap90.dll is installed.

I am in the process of designing a database infrasture layout that can virtually scale to an very large number of servers in efforts to improve performance. The Scale-out architecture vs. grid computing (something like Oracle RAC) seems to be the way to go. It may take a lot more work up front, but it seems very flexible in the long run.
One of the issues that I am trying to tackle is how should I grow this thing. Right now, I have one single 4 way server running SQL 2005 Ent. edt. We are planning on getting a second server as well as a Enterprise level San solution.
With my 2 goals in mind (Scale out architecture and High Avail) should I bring this second server online as a passive cluster node, or should I partition out the data across both nodes. Will clustering even be part of my fault tolerence plan or should I use replication?
Its hard to find a good answer as what is the *best* way to make this happen.
Any insight will be greatful...
Thanks!
