May 1, 2008

Hi ~

I made simple stored procedure that is to update user information following as...

ALTER PROCEDURE UpdateUserProfile
(
  @user_id uniqueidentifier,
  @user_firstname nvarchar(50),
  @user_lastname nvarchar(50),
  @user_birth nvarchar(20),
  @user_gender nvarchar(20)
  )

AS

 UPDATE user_profile
    SET
    user_firstname = @user_firstname,
    user_lastname = @user_lastname,
    user_birth = @user_birth,
    user_gender =  @user_gender
  WHERE user_id = @user_id

'Pass the name of the DataSet through the overloaded contructor

'of the DataSet class.

Dim dataSet As DataSet ("ssmsExpressDB")

sqlConnection.Open()

sqlDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet)

sqlConnection.Close()

End Sub

End Class

I executed the above code and I got the following 4 errors:
Error #1: Type 'SqlConnection' is not defined (in Form1.vb)
Error #2: Type 'SqlDataAdapter' is not defined (in Form1.vb)
Error #3: Array bounds cannot appear in type specifiers (in Form1.vb)
Error #4: 'DataSet' is not a type and cannot be used as an expression (in Form1)

Please help and advise.

Thanks in advance,

More Information for you to know:
I have the "ssmsExpressDB" database in the Database Expolorer of VB 2005 Express. But I do not know how to get the SqlConnection and the SqlDataAdapter into the Form1. I do not know how to get the Fill Method implemented properly.
I try to learn "Working with SELECT Statement in a Stored Procedure" for printing the 6 rows that are selected - they are not parameterized.

Working In A Stored Procedure's Result Set In MSSQL 2000 (eg.: Selecting From)

Mar 4, 2004

Hy all.
My main goal would be to create some kind of map of the database, wich contains information of all connecting fields, including wich fields has key references to the other one and wich table. I'd like to have a table wich shows all the database connections tablename, field, field/table_key (from or to the key points), field_key_type (prymary or foreign)
So I thaugh to get sp_fkeys and sp_pkeys from master table and inner joining their results, but I simplay cannot "catch" their result sets. The script must have been written in SQL.
Obviously I'd like to do this:
SELECT * FROM EXEC sp_fkeys @table_name = 'xy'
of course it is not working this way, but I'd like something like this.

Please help! Thanx!

When the stored procedure is finish, the update statement seemed to have worked though, so it is working.

I suspect I need something, like a GO statement, but that doesnt seem to work for a stored procedure. Can anyone offer some assistance?

If the user does not register within 24 hours, his registration must be automatically deleted from the database using a stored procedure.I know how to do this using the global.aspx file, however there must be an alternative way of doing this, especially if the database is an SQL database. I do not know how much MSSQL server access is given to a developer by an as ISP who hosts the website.Can anyone tell me what would be the best method to use.ThxWarren

Deploying MSSQL 2005 Express DB To MSSQL 2005 WKGP Errors

Sep 29, 2006

DB is developed on local computer with MSSQL 2005 Express. My host is on MSSQL 2005 workgroup. Are they compatible, because I am getting errors? Is my approach wrong?

I have tried several approaches.

A) I created a backup of database on my local, then placed a copy on the server. Then I tried to restore through Server Management Studio. I get this error.

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

------------------------------

An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)

------------------------------

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The backed-up database has on-disk structure version 611. The server supports version 539 and cannot restore or upgrade this database.

B: I also have tried copying the database. I put it in the same path as the other databases that can be read with server management studio on the server. Then, tried to get to it through server managements studio and it did not appear. So I tried to attach it. Then I received this error:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

Attach database failed for Server 'MROACH1'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=9.00.2047.00&EvtSrc=Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExceptionTemplates.FailedOperationExceptionText&EvtID=Attach+database+Server&LinkId=20476

C: I have also tried opening the Database, and back up file through Server Management Studio. without success.

D: I also tried Windows and Software update at microsoft update, but no updates were recommended for Version on Server.

I'm surprised this is so hard. My original data base was created in same family of software. 2005 MS SQL Express. I could use some direct help from someone experienced with this. Am I doing it wrong or are the DB versions incompatible.

Member ( MemberID int , MemberName varchar(50), GroupID varchar(255) )

The Link table contains the records showing which Member is in which Group. One particular Member can be in
multiple Groups and also a particular Group may have multiple Members.

The Member table contains the Member's ID, Member's Name, and a Group ID field (that will contains comma-separated
Groups ID, showing in which Groups the particular Member is in).

We have the Link table ready, and the Member table' with first two fields is also ready. What we have to do now is to
fill the GroupID field of the Member table, from the Link Table.

For instance,

Read all the GroupID field from the Link table against a MemberID, make a comma-separated string of the GroupID,
then update the GroupID field of the corresponding Member in the Member table.

Please help me with a sql query or procedures that will do this job. I am using SQL SERVER 2000.

Does anyone know how to do this? I am in the middle of writing a server side program, and this is one thing that I cannot do without.

Also, if anyone can answer that, how do I do the same with an Exchange 5.5 Email account?

Thanks ahead of time!

Need Help With A SQL Update Stored Procedure

Jun 16, 2006

Can someone walk me through the code for my update_command event?Every article I read and every tutorial I walk through has a slightly different way of doing this task.It's confusing trying to understand which code-behind variables I need in my update_command event and how to pass them to a stored procedure.
Please help me connect the dots.
I have a SQL server table that looks like this (Both data types are char)
Status_Id            Status_DescriptionA                    ActiveP                    Planned
I have a SQL stored procedure that looks like this…
create procedure dbo.usp_Update_Status_Master(@status_id char(1),@status_description char(30))asupdate status_masterset status_description = @status_descriptionwhere status_id = @status_idGO
Here is my code behind…
Imports SystemImports System.DataImports System.Data.SqlClientImports System.ConfigurationImports System.Data.OdbcPublic Class WebForm1    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page    Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load        If Not IsPostBack Then            Call LoadStatusMasterGrid()        End If    End Sub    Public Sub LoadStatusMasterGrid()        Dim connection As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection(ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("sqlConn"))        connection.Open()        Try            Dim command As SqlCommand = _                New SqlCommand("usp_Select_Status_Master", connection)            Command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure            Dim adapter As SqlDataAdapter = New SqlDataAdapter(Command)            Dim table As DataTable = New DataTable            adapter.Fill(table)            dgStatusMaster.DataSource = table            dgStatusMaster.DataKeyField = "status_id"            dgStatusMaster.DataBind()        Catch ex As Exception            Console.WriteLine(ex.Message)            Throw        Finally            connection.Close()        End Try    End Sub    Private Sub dgStatusMaster_EditCommand(ByVal source As Object, _    ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridCommandEventArgs) Handles dgStatusMaster.EditCommand        dgStatusMaster.EditItemIndex = e.Item.ItemIndex        dgStatusMaster.DataBind()        Call LoadStatusMasterGrid()    End Sub    Private Sub dgStatusMaster_CancelCommand(ByVal source As Object, _    ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridCommandEventArgs) Handles dgStatusMaster.CancelCommand        dgStatusMaster.EditItemIndex = -1        Call LoadStatusMasterGrid()    End Sub    Private Sub dgStatusMaster_UpdateCommand(ByVal source As Object, _    ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridCommandEventArgs) Handles dgStatusMaster.UpdateCommand   ‘ How do I code this part?        End SubEnd Class
Thanks in advance for taking the time.Tim
