Ole Db Source Editor Preview Throwing An Error

i have a data flow configured to use a ole db source. the ole db source uses an ole db connection manager pointing to the adventureworks db which suceeded when i tested its connection. the data access mode of the ole db source is "sql command". below is the sql command text:
SELECT SpecialOfferID, Description
DiscountPct, Type, Category, StartDate,
EndDate, MinQty, MaxQty, ModifiedDate
FROM Sales.SpecialOffer
WHERE ModifiedDate >= ? AND ModifiedDate < ?
this query uses 2 paramaters, each of which is mapped to a datetime variable which falls with the range of the ModifiedDate column as follows:
Parameter0: User::ExtractStartDate
Parameter1: User::ExtractStopDate
ExtractStartDate is set to 7/1/2001 and ExtractStopDate is set to 3/31/2004. however, i get the following error when i press the preview button in the ole db source editor: "there was an error displaying the preview. additional information: no value given for one or more required parameters (microsoft sql native client)".
as far as i can tell, i have the ole db source configured correctly. thus, i can't figure out why this error is being generated. has anyone else experienced this issue? if so, were you able to resolve it? is this a bug?

I have a package which has an Excel source with the 'Data access mode' set to SQL command and then a sql select statement. Â When I try and hit the 'Preview...' button below the 'SQL command text' window I get the following error:
 "Error at Standard Data Flow Tasks [source tasks name]: No column information was returned by the SQL command"

Ordinarily this would be down to the fact that my SQL is shocking, I hit the 'Preview...' button whilst the workbook the source is pointing at was open and it works fine??

I can't figure this out, but needless to say the package errors with a NEEDSNEWMETADATA when I try and run it.

note: according to the product documentation parameterized queries should preview just fine.

i have an OLE DB Source
Data access mode: SQL command
i began with a simple query, and it previews just fine
i have an existing user variable in my package. its being referenced successfully by an intial "execute sql task" i have.
i then replace the where conditions with parameters.
i click on "parameters..." and map the parameters to my variables.
i click preview and an error appears.
the error message is...
There was an error displaying the preview
Additional information:
no value given for one or more required parameters. (Microsoft SQL Native Client)
any ideas or suggestions?

hi,
I am using SSIS to extract data from sql server and import into MDB file. In
the process, under data flow task, I have used OLE DB Source Editor as source. Here
i have choosen SQL Command as mode of data population. In the box below i
have typed the following statements.
"Exec Site_Address"
I have used many temperory tables in this procedure.
When i run this procedure in the query analyzer window i get the desired data which has to be imported to an MDB. After typing the above statements and when i
click the button preview i can see the data. But when i click the
Columns.... i dont see anything there. I am unable to see any columns there.
This is getting to my nerves because, when i use OLE DB as Destination i am
unable to map the columns and i get an error.
I dont know how to solve this problem. cannot we map columns in temp tables .... or wat is it ??
Please help me to find a solution.
I will also paste the procedure code that i have used.

I can see the preview data , but when I click columns, there are no available external columns..
Howcan I fix this issue?

Hi All,
I have a XL source file which contains the 1st column value is some of Numeric and alpha numeric (ex. 1,1A,1B,2,2A,2B),
i have fired the select statement (select * from [sch 1 a$A9155] where f1 is not null ) in XL source editor, its not showing the numeric records means 1 and 2 were excluding from the above select statement i think it was due to combining numeric and alpha numeric.
I need both records should select , please anyone can help me to sort out the issue.

Greetings everyone,
I am seeing a particular problem in the XML Source Editor "Columns" configuration where it is not persisting the "Output name" selection.
Control Flow Tab:
1. I use a "Exec SQL Command" to drop, create, or alter the destination tables in the database that I want to be repository for the inbound XML data. The data types are fairly straightforward.
2. I add a singular "Data Flow"
Data Flow Tab:
1. I add a "XML Source" task, and assign a well-defined XML file. I then use the "Generate XSD" option in the "Connection manager"; and I am fairly satisfied with the generated XSD.
2. I create "OLE DB Destination"
3. I wire the "XML Source" to the "OLE DB Destination". In the "XML Source" in the "Columns".
4. I go to the dropdown list of "Output name" and see the list ordered with the various complex-types that I want to map and transfer to a target table.
For the sake of this report, I select the 5th one down on the list (for which I already have a target table) - let's call this "Mesh"
5. In the "Input Output" dialog, I select the "output" to be the desired 5th item, "Mesh"
6. I check all my mappings so that they map one-to-one ... XML name entries match SQL table destination mapping entries; correct types; correct size
7. Check the metadata and it all looks good.
8. When I hit "Debug" to test the package the failure occurs at the "XML Source". The error report comes back saying that it failed because "field xxx in Contributor was truncated". However, "Contributor" corresponds to the 1st name in the dropdown list presented in "Columns" "Output name:".
If I select return to Step 4, when I open up "Columns" I see that my previous selection of the 5th item on the list named "Mesh" was not persisted, but invariably and no matter how often I select item #5 "Mesh" and save to ensure that selection sticks, it is not persisted.
I hand-edited the .dtsx file and only then was I able to make this stick. However, if I ever re-save the package this non-persistency pops up again.
Am I doing something wrong here or is this a known defect? As I have several dozen XSD mappings that I want to transfer to tables, hand-editing is not something I relish.

OK so I have this SSIS package that uses a connection call "Conn1". I added this to my configuration file (which also contains connections called "Conn2" and "Conn3" which are used by other packages. Works fine in DEV when run via SQL Agent. I moved SSIS package and config file to prod server. SQL Agent now throws error on this package saying it cannot resolve path to "Conn3". This package doesn't use "Conn3"... I opened both the SSIS package and the Config file in notepad and verified Conn3 wasn't referenced in the package... HELP !!!!

I have a Connection manager to an Excel workbook. I've set it up as Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0Â Excel 8.0;HDR=NoWhen I create the DataFlow OLE DB source, the Name of Table or View dropdown shows only 3 items:
Resources$Â Â Resources$_Â and Volumes$_
My workbook has 2 tabs (Resources and Volumes; Volumes is hidden), two named ranges of the same name (Resources and Volumes)Â and a bunch of other named ranges.
Why does the drop down only show these three things, and only the first one (the first tab Resources$) actually works.
The other two give a nasty message (0xC02020E8 Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap)

Sorry seem to be havign no end of trouble with SQL today. I need to create a query that will rank tickets using the row count of another table which has a relationship with the primarykey of that ticket table. Hello,I'm using a typed dataset to access my database (SQL Express); I have a table that returns data, which two fields are null; I'm getting this error:{"Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints."}There are no foreign-key or unique key constraints, so it has to be a non-null issue; I changed the two fields in the table to have a null value of Empty instead of Throw Exception, but I don't understand what the problem is coming from... I've been setting up subscriptions to a merge publication for the past 3 days. All of a sudden, I'm getting a pile of very strange errors. Replication is configured. I have 16 subscribers to an existing publication configured and synchronizing changes without any issues. The script that I'm using to create all of the subscriptions is as follows:

My BIDS installation is able to create new projects and open saved ones, but if i try to add an existing package from a remote server, it throws the error pasted below. I can see the package list, but once i choose the package, hit ok, then hit ok to load it, I get the error. I can open the same package on a different computer, so it's not user rights related. I created an Image for the Database in sqlserver 2000. When I am querying directly the database as "Select * from employee", it is returning the result set.
But, when I am querying Database image with same query. It is giving error
Server: Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid object name 'Employee'
It is expecting the Database Owner. If I do query like "Select * from [Owner].employee", it is working fine.
My requirement is not use owner in queries, it should be simple query ("Select * from employee").
Can any one, help me out.

Hi,
I developed a custom data flow task in .net 2.0 using Visual Studio 2005. I installed it into GAC using GACUTIL and also copied it into the pipeline directory. This task runs absolutely fine when I run it on my local machine both in BIDS and using the script in windows 2000 environment. However, when I deployed this package into a windows 2003 server, the package fails at the custom task level. I checked the GAC in windowsassembly directory and it is present. Also I copied the file into the PipeLine directory and verified that I copied it into the correct pipeline directory by checking the registry. The version of the assembly is still Debug. I looked up documentation in MSDN but there is very little information about the errors I am seeing.
The error I get is pasted below, Can somebody please help me as I am currently stuck and running out of ideas to fix this problem.

Hi All,
We have written a multithreaded application in which we are maintaining separate Database connections for each thread. these connections are opened and closed at the start and exit of the thread.
We have observed that even if there is only one thread running ( application thread), execution of simple Select queries some times throws Native exception(Error - 0xc0000005 ).
This error comes intermittently. Execution of same query doesn't throw exception.
Further investigation by breaking the debug at the time of native exception and then looking into the stack trace shows that native exception has occured at one of the Native API (CompileQueryPlan() ) which is being called implicitly by the SQL Mobile.
Each time when we see native exception stack trace shows failure at CompileQueryPlan() call.
Let me know if this is a known defect in SQL Mobile 2005 or there is something else that is causing native exception.

I am now getting this error mesaage when I try to preview my report
[rsInvalidToggleItem] The table €˜table1€™ has €˜siteref€™ as a toggle item. Toggle items must be text boxes that share the same scope as the hidden item or are in a scope that contains the hidden item, and cannot be contained within the current report item unless current grouping scope has a Parent.
What does that mean in english?
Also, if I can't fix this, is there a way to get the one that is deployed and functional on the webserver back into the report designer and reverse engineer it?
I have not touched the groupings since vewiing it last. I have only been adjusting the value boxes of three fields that I had yet to get functional.

My report worked fine for a while, but suddenly I started getting the following errors for Preview:
An error occurred during local report processing.
An error has occurred during report processing.
Index was outside the bounds of the array.
I restarted VS, then rebooted my machine and the problem persists. Everything including the report posted to the server works fine. It is just the Preview of this report does not work any more. Preview of other reports work fine.
Any tip to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Using SQL Reporting 2005:
I have a report which has the Interactive Height set to 0 so that it does not use paging. When I try and print preview the report, I can see the report okay until I go forward after the last page, and then I get the error "An error occured trying to render the report. 0x80004005". I can print the report and it prints fine, but I get a pop-up that says that there was an error printing the report. I've narrowed it down to the interactive size property, but am not sure how to get around it.

I'm trying to create a report using a SAP BI InfoCube as my datasource.
One of the fields in the InfoCube (GL Account) consist of a 3 level hierarchy, which need to be reported on.
The query that I built using QueryBuilder executes fine and displays the hierarchies correctly, but when I preview the report, i get the following error:
An error occurred during local report processing
An error has occurred during report processing
Query execution failed for data set "SAPBWD"
The "0GL_ACCOUNT 1000IE" Object was not found.
0GL_ACCOUNT is the GL account field to report on
1000IE is the selected GL Account Hierarchy to be displayed
Here's the query that was generated using query builder:

I am having a problem in the Business Intelligence Development Studio. When I add and try to edit a Script Task or a Script Component, I click on the Design Script button and get one of two errors. For the Script task I get an error that states:
Cannot show the editor for this task. (Microsoft Visual Studio)
For the Script component I get:
Cannot show Visual Studio for Applications editor. (Microsoft Visual Studio)
For some reason or another it just will not start Visual Studio for Applications. I have uninstalled an re-installed several times. I have also researched and discovered that there is a bug when C# tasks are include in the project. However, this is not the case. Please help!

I have a data flow and inside the data flow , i have a ole db source and ole db command task to execute an insert transaction ( SP).. i would like to save the error output if the insert didn;t happend into a error log table..
but when I darg an error output line ( red) to another ole db command to insert an error log , i can only see two columns( error code and error column) are available in OLEDB command advance editor related to errors.. this doesn;t tell you much information about the error.how can i grap the error reson(desc) as the error output and store into a erro log table? so that i can see what the problem is?
