i want to make a package to export data to multiple PLE DB detination from one one flat source.
can any body tell how to create ?
I would Like to know whether anyone tried to SSIS from SQL to AS400.
I am getting Exception when I set destination adapter ( for As400).
Whats the acceptable value .
There are two EXCEL sources one destination table. Each record in the destination should be populated with 2 columns from one source and 2 from other source.
Source 1:
ID Name
1 abc
Source 2:
Address Location
232/2 xyz
Destination:
ID Name Address Location
1 abc 232/2 xyz
I tried using UNION ALL transformation but it fetches 2 seperate records (assuming that one record in each source). How to achieve this without using SCRIPT component?
TIA
Hi ,
I am retrieving some data that contains three or four hundred thousand rows. These rows are supposed to go into an excel file with multiple worksheets, since one Excel worksheet cannot handle rows that are more than 65536. Below is what I need to achieve:
Dynamically create mutiple worksheets.
Re-direct data like this i.e. first 64K in first worksheet and next 64K in next worksheet and so on.
Dynamically name the work sheet with the start value in that work sheet e.g. OrderNumber or OrderDate.
Can we achieve this directly/indirectly?
Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paraclete
Hello,
I have created a SSIS package which is getting data from SQL Server table to Excel File.
Step 1 : using Oledb to get records.
Step 2 : created Excel Connection and Excel Destination component
Step 3 : Configured the Excel File Path using variables.
Step 4 : Changed the property 64 bit FALSE
When try to run from BIDS it is running fine.
But
It is not running when try to run from SQL JOB.
The following Error i got:
: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. ::: component "Excel Destination" (588) failed validation and returned error code 0xC020801C. ::: One or more component failed validation. ::: There were errors during task validation. ::
Kindly give solution ASAP.

Hello,
For packages where an MS Access database is the destination, what are some ways to detect whether or not the file is 'in use'? I know there is a lock file associated with Access databases. Could it be as simple as using something from the FileSystem Object to discover whether or not there is a lock file with the same name as the destination database? I'd like to stop the package if the file is in use.
Any ideas?
Thank you for your help!

Hi,
I have a small problem. I've gone through the SSIS wizard and created a dtsx file which imports data from an access file into a SQL Server 2005 database. It has been set to delete existing rows and enable identity insert.
I then edited the .dtsx package in SQL Server Management Studio and added an environment variable configuration to allow me to change the destination database. In the script which runs the dtsx, here is what I have (it's an x64 system, so hi have to use DTExec):
"C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL Server90DTSBinnDTExec.exe" /file e: estimport.dtsx /set Package.Connections[DestinationConnectionOLEDB].Properties[InitialCatalog];newdatabasename
and here is the error I get:
Description: The configuration environment variable was not found. The envir
onment variable was: "InitialCatalog". This occurs when a package specifies an e
nvironment variable for a configuration setting but it cannot be found. Check th
e configurations collection in the package and verify that the specified environ
ment variable is available and valid.
I got the package.connections.etc etc path from originally creating the environment variable as an xml config file, then I could open the config file and see what the path was...
Any help would be appreciated :)
I'm fairly new to SSIS, and I'm looking for some general guidance on the best approach to take to a particular issue. Essentially, I've built a web application, running on a remote server, and I'm looking to take the contents of an Excel spreadsheet, load it into memory, run a whole mess of calculations against it, and then load the results into a table on MS-SQL 2005. The calculations are in a class library, written in C#, so my sense was that the best approach would be to a) load the data into a datareader, b) run the calculations against the data and c) load it to SQL. Of these steps, a) seems like the place where SSIS would come into play.
My question is, once I've got the data into a datareader, how can it be accessed from my code? I'd been playing around with DtsClient until having the realization that it was intended to be used locally. Is there a similar method for doing this sort of thing remotely?
I have a table is SQL server database A that is my source. I have another database B which is accessed via webservice call.(its a CRM server basically). My intention is to transfer data from A to B while B is accessible only via web service. I need to update existing one and create the missing one.
Currently I am using script component, and on every insertion of a row, i call the webservice to check if the record exist or not. If it exist I update it else create it using webservice call itself.
All this happen in Input0_ProcessInputRow(Input0Buffer Row) function.
Now this method is making 2n webserive call which is making the performance very slow.
I want to optimize the approach. Is there a way where I can retrieve whole set of rows in source table in preexecute(), filter it and store it in a List. This way, i just need to check the list a perform update ro create accordingly preventing my webservice call.
How to optimize this or even some better approach?
Its actually a CRM server and I am trying to update and create contacts in CRM sync with a database.
I have 5 or more tables to join to get a particular output which has to be sent to a destination table. In the 5 tables some are inner joins and some are left outer join. I am opting for stored procedure at this point. But I would like to know how can this be done in data flow transformations having multiple souce and merge joins or any other alternates. I tried using merge join, but this does not accept more than two tables.
I saw this simple post which kick started me to use ssis transformations to stored procedures. But I encounter issue.
http://www.mssqltips.com/tip.asp?tip=1322
error
"The destination component does not have any available inputs for use in creating a path".
Please advice alternates
Hi,
I want to combine a series of outputs from tsql queries into a single flat file destination using SSIS.
Does anyone have any inkling into how I would do this.
I know that I can configure a flat file connection manager to accept the output from the first oledb source, but am having difficulty with subsequent queries.
e.g. output
personID, personForename, personSurname,
1, pf, langan
***Roles
roleID, roleName
1, developer
2, architect
3, business analyst
4, project manager
5, general manager
6, ceo
***joinPersonRoles
personID,roleID

Howdy all,
I've seen several posts about reading and writing files that have different record types with varying column metadata. My particular file has 11 record types plus several header types and looks something like:
<Header1>
<Header2>
<Detail01-#1>
<Subdetail02>
<Subdetail03>
...
<Detail01-#2>
<Subdetail02>
<Subdetail03>
...
...
Since i need to get different detail and subdetail records, i can't really use the technique of 3 dest file connection managers found in http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=87269&SiteID=1
I've tried using an exec sql to get the main detail records and then a forech ADO en umerator that would get the subdetails, but it all seems so kludgy. I'm starting to think that I should just write the bulk of the file creation code in a c# app instead of trying to smush this into SSIS. Opinions? Am I missing some trick in SSIS?
TIA,
-Peter
Hi,
I have a multiple package solution that I've deployed using the manifest file produced with the development environment. If I need to make a change to a single package, how do I then deploy this package? Is it a case of rebuilding the entire solution and re-running the manifest file, or is there a simpler way?
Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.
How can I get table name and schema names of the source and destination in ssis package to insert into audit table....??
View 3 Replies View RelatedHi all,
I am passing flat file source as a variable to Dtexec Utility. (like package.variables[User::varFileName].Value;"D:sourcedata.txt).
Destination table is having one more column.
I want to add custom value in that column at run time by parameter to Dtexec(User::varDate)
I dont know how to do it, please help me.

I am copying a simple table from a Sql Server 2005 database to an *.sdf mobile database.
I am brand new to SSIS and I am probably doing something wrong. But after executing the SSIS package all the rows and all the fields are NULL in the destination database. I put a datagrid viewer between the OLE DB Source and the Sql Server compact edition destination and I can see the real data which is obviously not ALL NULL.
Does anyone have a clue as to why it would be doing this?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks...
how do you load the multiple flat files to into destination dynamically?

In my package there are 10 DFT.
Each DFT have source > Tranformation > Conditionsplit > Rowcount_Transformation > Oledb Command

> Rowcount_Transformation2 > Oledb Command2
> Rowcount_Transformation3 > Oledb Command3
All update hapend on diffrent Table.I want to log in Audit table .
My audit table like
Table_Name Insert_count Update_count
How can I log the package having multiple OLEDB Destination.
1 How to get the desired output colums into Excel file without having 'copy of column/unwanted columns' in destination file.
2. How to override the existing file in excel destination.
I have a SSIS package that reads data from a dump table, runs a custom script that takes date data and converts it to the correct format or nulls and formats amt fields to currency, then inserts it to a new table. The new table redirects insert errors. This process worked fine until about 3 weeks ago. I am processing just under 6 million rows, with 460,000 or so insert errors that did give error column and code.
Now, I am getting 1.5 million errors. and nothing has changed, to my knowledge. I receive the following information.
Error Code -1071607685 Error Column 0 Error Desc No status is available.
The only thing I can find for the above error code is
DTS_E_OLEDBDESTINATIONADAPTERSTATIC_UNAVAILABLE
To add to the confusion, I can not see any errors in the data written to the error table. It appears that after a certain point is reached in the processing, everything, or most records, error out.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

i have an SSIS package that exports to an excel file. This works fine. the problem is that it appends the data instead of overwriting the file. Is there any way to overwrite the file like you can with a flat file? I have to email the file everyweek and don't want to have to clear it out manually. Any help would be appreciated
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a stored proc I am updating in an OLEDB Command from the results of a Transform Script Component. The Stored Proc has over 65 input parameters, most of them have a NULL passed in. I dont want to create output columns in the Transform Script Component for all of them to map them from the "Available Input Columns" to "Available Destination Columns".
I want to create 3 or 4 generic Output columns for their data type - say IntegerOutput (datatype Int), DateTimeOut (datatype datetime) and so on. The I want to map these generic columns in the OLEDB Command as Available Input Columns" to multiple "Available Destination Columns" - wherever the datatype matches the input column.
But the OLEDB Command Column Mappings let me map One to One only. This will create a huge and unnecessary workload for me to develop and maintain - when I tell you I have 3 such stored procedures, all of whose interfaces are exactly same and for which I can create similar Output columns in the Transform Script Component.
So how do I go about doing this the smart way?
thanks in advance!
Hi everyone, I have a DTS package on my SQL Server database that returns several different results. Does anybody know how I would access any one particular part of the return. I am trying to make it so that there is only one run to the database for the information, but am not sure how to get just the parts I want out of the DTS package. for Example, here is my DTS Package:
Select @InvoiceNo as InvoiceNo, '02/01/08' as PaymentDate, 1000.00 as PaymentAmt, 500.00 as RemainingAmt, 'X31235X' as ReceiptNumber
Declare @Results Table ( InvoiceNo char(10), Amt float)
Insert Into @Results Values('SNJ0100001',100.00)Insert Into @Results Values('SNJ0100002',200.00)Insert Into @Results Values('SNJ0100003',300.00)
Select * from @Results
How would I ask for just the results from the @Results section and then somewhere else on my page I will want to return just the results from the @InvoiceNo section?? I would normally call the package from my code-behind and I know how to do that, just not to pull a particular section. Here is what I have so far on that section:
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString %>"SelectCommand="hsp_rpt_AR_ReceiptStatus" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure"><SelectParameters><asp:ControlParameter ControlID="TextBox1" Name="InvoiceNo" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" /></SelectParameters></asp:SqlDataSource>
Thanks for any helpRandy
Hi,
I have a file-deployed package which I need to call N times at once using DTEXEC. When I attempt to execute N instances of the package, the second instance doesn't execute. I can execute different packages at the same time, but never the same package more than once. Does anyone know how to get this scenario working? Just to clarify a bit more - I can call the package as many times as I like as long as I wait until the previous run of DTEXEC is finished. Please help!

I have a package with two sequence containers, each containing two SQL tasks and a data flow task, executed in that order. I want to encapsulate the data flow task in a transaction but not the SQL tasks. I have the TransactionOption property set to 'required' on the data flow tasks and 'supported' on the SQL tasks and the sequence containers. When I run the package I get a distributed transaction error on the first SQL task of the second sequence container:
"[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "TRUNCATE TABLE DistTransTbl2" failed with the following error: "Distributed transaction completed. Either enlist this session in a new transaction or the NULL transaction.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly."
The only way I can get the package to succeed is to set the TransactionOption = 'required' on the sequence containers and 'supported' on all subordinate tasks. This is not what I want, however. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Eric
Hi
I am working on on SQL Server Integration Services and facing few problems in it.
Actually am supposed to create a package that would automatically pick excel spreadsheets with a specific format and import it onto the SQL server.
(Lets say , there is a company named AB and they have got various products named CD,EF and GH and each product has its own spreadsheet in which its monthly sales(JAN, FEB,...NOV, DEC) is given. So i have to build a generic package for each product (lets say CD) so that i don't have to import every spreadsheet seperately for each month.
To summarize i just have to build a package where i can deploy the various spreadshhets again and agian instead of building a package for each and every month spreadsheet seperately.
I have tried and used lots of combinations like Loop
conatiners etc. but still am not able to find a solution to it.
Please help me out on this.
Hi,
Can anyone tell me the process of executing multiple packages in SSIS
I have 10 packages which should be executed in an order and should be automatically executed once in a day.
Can someone suggest me any such process which will help me to achieve this

Hi,Currently we get data from more then 200 different sources and all ofour vendors provide data in different file formats. The problem is wehave more then 100 DTS packages now and the maintainance is verydiffucult.Every time our vendor changes the format we have to change in multipleDTS packages. Is anybody know what would be the right way of reducing the no. of DTSpackages. The type of file formats we get are .xls .txt .dat .csv etc. and .txt& .dat files comes with different delimitters. The # of columns alsovaries from file to file. Is it possible to have a DTS package whichcan handle diff file formats and loads data into a staging table andfrom there based of the source of the file we can move data intorespective tables & columns. We are using SQL SERVER 2000Thanks in advance.Subodh
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several sequence containers in one package that fire off execute package tasks. I would like each of the sequence containers to start at the same time when the job starts running. However when I set them up to do that, i get an error that the variable cannot be read because it is locked. I have the variables setup as readonly so not sure why they are being locked. When I run the package and have each sequence container fire off after the previous one ends it runs fine.
Any ideas on how to get around this?
Thanks!
I'd like to be able to call different packages from a control flow. These packages will have different requirements for parameters therefore I'd like to create them dynamically.
Is this possible? Can I do it using a script task?
Thanks in advance.

I have a parent package "A", I also have 4 child packages "B","B1","B2",B3"
In BIDS, I created a file connection in the package "A" to connect to the child packages. So whenever I want to run B1 or B2, I change the path in the file connection to point to B1 or B2 and so on. Since the developement environment is File system this works perfectly fine.
But in the Test / Production environment all packages are stored in the Sql server. How can I paramaterize the child package connection so that I can use configuration / variables to select which child package to execute.
Thanks
