My problem is when I input a value for Portfolio parameter, i get two rows instead of one. If I input 'ALL UP'
then I get value only for ALL UP. But if I input smthing else , then I get values for that paramter value as well as ALL UP thus giving me two rows not just one as I want.
Case stament always gives me 0 value for ALL UP which is not the true value.
can anyone help me to correct this?
Below is the stored procedure i have it works fine if i have 1 value passed to @invited_by but i want to modify but i want this code to be working for multiple inputs .Lets say if i do
exec [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] 'Test1 . I get the desired output but i want this procedure to work for exec [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] 'Test1,Test2'. USE [merck_acronyms] GO
I have parameters in my report. The user can choose the year, month and date (3 parameters). Now I want to set default vaules for the parameters , so that the user sees the report for example for the current day without selecting the parameters. I tried to set the type of the parameters to DateTime and the default value for example for the year to "=Today().Year" . But when I execute the report an error occures . Something like : no validValue for this parameter.
My Attributes for the year month and date are from an Analyis Services Cube from a Server Time dimension . Does somebody know how to make it possible to set default values for this parameters?
Other question :
Does somebody know how I can reduce the values for a parameter. For Example I have a parameter "year" from a server time dimension from a cube. The values which are available are "Year 2004", "Year 2005", "Year 2006", "Year 2007". But I want that the user only can choose "Year 2006" or "Year 2007" ant not every Year or "All". Or Other Example: The User should only choose a Date that is int the past or Today but not a Date in the future.
Is it possible to fill a parameter list with values based on another parameter value? Here's what I have so far (which hasn't worked)... I'd like to generate a report listing information for a student. The report viewer would first select a school from the first drop-down menu, and then the second drop-down menu would populate with the list of students at that school. I have a dataset that calls a sp which returns a list of schools (SchoolID and SchoolName fields from the database table). I have another dataset that calls a sp (with SchoolID as the parameter) which returns a list of students for that school. Both datasets return the appropriate data when tested individually, but when I set up the Report Parameters and build the report, these errors come up... The value expression for the query parameter '@SchoolID' refers to a non-existing report parameter 'SchoolID'. The report parameter 'Student' has a DefaultValue or a ValidValue that depends on the report parameter "SchoolID". Forward dependencies are not valid. ...Is it possible for the reoprt to generate a list of available parameter values based on the value selected for another parameter? Any help you can give me would be great!! Thank you
I have my stored procedure set to Territory_code IN (@Territory)
, now , how do i enter in more then one value. When i select the multi value check box, it gives me more spaces. But then doesnt recognize the values when i put in more then one. am i doing something wrong?
I have a parameter (hidden) that gets its value using an expression base on another parameter. When in the designer, the first time when the designer loads I can select the Parameter that controls the child parameter (expression lies in the default value section). The value changes.
When I change the parent parameter again, the value of the child parameter does not seem to change.
How can I make this parameter change automatically when the parent is changed ?
If I have a Select statement like this in my C# code: Select * From foods Where foodgroup In (@foodgroup) And I want @foodgroup to have these values ... "meat", "dairy", fruit", what is the correct way to add the parameter? I tried meat, dairy, fruit 'meat', 'dairy', 'fruit' but neither worked. Is this possible?

I have the following in my commandtext but it doesnt seem to replace the LanguageColumnName variable: Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("SELECT '+@LanguageColumnName+' FROM tblSports a INNER JOIN tblUsersAndSports b ON a.SportID=b.SportID " & _ "WHERE b.UserCode=@UserCode", MyConnection) cmd.Parameters.Add(New SqlParameter("@UserCode", UserCode)) cmd.Parameters.Add(New SqlParameter("@LanguageColumnName", LanguageColumnName))I have tried '+@LanguageColumnName+' and also just @LanguageColumnName but this variable isnt replaced for some reason. The value of LanguageColumnName is "de"...the funny thing is that when I just type my command like the following it DOES work..:SELECT de FROM tblSports a INNER JOIN tblUsersAndSports b ON a.SportID=b.SportID " & _ "WHERE b.UserCode=@UserCodeWhat am I doing wrong?
Hello, I have what should be a very simple problem, but I cant solve it. I want to have a stored procedure return a table query (no problems here) but I also need to supply several parameters to the stored procedure (again, no problem!)
Here is the problem, I need to be able to supply a wildcard into the stored procedure as an argument somehow. I can do this already, but the results are incorrect!!! It seems like when local variables are used, the wildcard argument gets ignored. for example, I have included the following example:
DECLARE @Dv_id nchar(15)
SET @Drv_id = '%'
SELECT Diver.*, (ROW_NUMBER() OVER(ORDER BY Dv_id)) as RowNum FROM Diver WHERE Dv_id LIKE @Dv_id
SELECT Diver.*, (ROW_NUMBER() OVER(ORDER BY Dv_id)) as RowNum FROM Diver WHERE Dv_id LIKE '%'
OK, this is an example of my problem, the results I get from this are that the fist SELECT return 0 rows. The second SELECT returns the correct number of rows (everything in the table). Why is there a difference between: WHERE Drv_id LIKE @Drv_id and WHERE Drv_id LIKE '%' ? The wildcard statement '%' is supposed match everything, correct?? It seems like the local variable SET command syntax eats up my value of '%' and turns it into a NULL.
Hi all: I have a list of items (actually a relation in which a user has selected an item, along with a rating for the item) in an Access database table, connected to my app with a SqlDataSource and bound to a repeater. The repeater displays the items to the user along with a dropdown box to show the rating, and allow the user to update it. The page connects and displays correctly. My problem is that when the user submits the page and I iterate through the repeater items to update each rating, the updates are not being completed in the database. The update works if I hard-code a value for the rating into the query itself, but not when using an updateparameter (pTaskRating below). In other words if I replace pTaskRating with '5', all the correct records will be found and have their ratings updated to 5. That means that the mySurveyId and pTaskId(DefaultValue) parameters have to be working, because the right records are found, but I can't seem to update records based on the DefaultValue of the pTaskRating parameter, even though I can verify that the DefaultValue is correct by placing a watch on it. It seems that my problem must be in my use of that particular parameter in the query, either in properties of the parameter or in the value assigned to it. I am extremely frustrated - any ideas would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks! Bruck The table I'm pulling from and updating looks like this: SURVEY_ID (Text 50), TASK_ID (Long Int), RATING_ID (Long Int) Here's my ASPX for the main data source: <asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlTaskSelections" runat="server" ConnectionString='Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="abc.mdb";Persist Security Info=True;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=xyz' ProviderName="System.Data.OleDb" SelectCommand="SELECT [SURVEY_ID], [TASK_ID], [RATING_ID] FROM [TBL_TASK_SELECTION] WHERE [SURVEY_ID] = mySurveyId" UpdateCommand="UPDATE [TBL_TASK_SELECTION] SET [RATING_ID] = pTaskRating WHERE ([SURVEY_ID] = mySurveyId) AND ([TASK_ID] = pTaskId)"> <UpdateParameters>
<asp:SessionParameter Name="mySurveyId" SessionField="SurveyId" DefaultValue="" /><asp:Parameter Name="pTaskId" DefaultValue="" /><asp:Parameter Name="pTaskRating" DefaultValue="" /> </UpdateParameters> And here's the repeater (the Task ID and Rating are stored in hidden fields for easy access later): <asp:Repeater ID="rptTaskSelections" runat="server">
<FooterTemplate></td></tr></table></FooterTemplate> </asp:Repeater> And here's the page load and submit VB: Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
If Not Page.IsPostBack Then
'BIND / LOAD RATINGS TO DROPDOWN BOXES HEREDim i As IntegerDim cbCurrentRating As DropDownListDim hCurrentRating As HiddenFieldrptTaskSelections.DataSource = sqlTaskSelectionsrptTaskSelections.DataBind()
SELECT SOURCE, TRANSDATE, LOCATION, DESCRIPTION, MOACTIVETIMESTAMP, MOINACTIVETIMESTAMP FROM CTS_Missing_Data_Report_VW WHERE LOCATION = @Location AND SOURCE = @Source AND (TRANSDATE BETWEEN @StartDate AND @EndDate) ORDER BY Transdate desc, Location
So the user can enter a value for Location and Source and select the date range.BUT I also want the user to be able to put in nothing for the Location and Source so the query would return everything for that date range.
So if they did this the query would be
SELECT SOURCE, TRANSDATE, LOCATION, DESCRIPTION, MOACTIVETIMESTAMP, MOINACTIVETIMESTAMP FROM CTS_Missing_Data_Report_VW WHERE (TRANSDATE BETWEEN @StartDate AND @EndDate) ORDER BY Transdate desc, Location
I have set the parameters @Location and @Source to "Allow blank value" in the datasets for the location and source I have :
SELECT NULL AS Source UNION SELECT DISTINCT RTRIM(LTRIM(SOURCE))AS Source FROM CTS_OPS_SOURCE_LOCATION_TBL_VW ORDER BY SOURCE
So a blank will show on the drop down and when I run the query for the Query Designer in the Dataset Properties the results does show a blank record for the first record.BUT when I Run the report there are no blanks in the drop downs for the location or source. And there is no '<blank>' selection in the drop down either. And the drop down insist the user selects a value from both of the drop downs.
Hello everybody, I can't perform an operation apparently very easy: set a field to a NULL value.
This is the db: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86) Dec 17 2002 14:22:05 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition on Windows NT 4.0 (Build 1381: Service Pack 6)
This is the table: CREATE TABLE [ProgettoTracce] ( [ID_Progetto] [int] NOT NULL , [MisDifDef] [real] NULL , [MisDifMeas] [real] NULL , [MisDifAna] [real] NULL , [MisDifID] [real] NULL , [MisDifCV] [real] NULL ) ON [PRIMARY] GO
This is qry: UPDATE ProgettoTracce SET MisDifDef = NULL WHERE ID_Progetto = 3444
The qry has been performed with no error. Then I execute SELECT * FROM ProgettoTracce WHERE ID_Progetto = 3444 and I find the value I tried to overwrite with NULL. If I update with 0 (for example) it works. Obviously this happens on the production db, because on the development db the update with NULL works fine. No transaction is called, db options are the same on dbs...
Any idea why this expression would not work in SSRS?
Based on a expression on a group textbox I get 0 records that match: =Iif(Fields!ACCRUAL_CODE.Value <> "A", CountDistinct(Fields!LOAN_NBR.Value), 0)
I've evaluated in the proc & there should be a count of 29 records.
I found a work around by using this in the stored proc & I get my record count:
ACCRUAL_CODE = CASE WHEN BASE.ACCRUAL_CODE = 'A' THEN 0 ELSE 1 END
and changed the expression in SSRS to this & it works: =sum(Fields!ACCRUAL_CODE.Value)
Is this a known issue with strings? From searching on this site I see that string evaluations are widely used so I do not see why it wouldn't work. I've also see this when filtering the dataset on anything that is a character. Any suggestions?

Hello all,The followinq qurey returns sometimes values of null to some of this columns, byK,byT,byD. the column F wil not contains any nulls, and 0 will be populated in it at any case of .Now, the problem is that when sorting out F the sort will not work when there is null parameters in byK because teh fact that a 0 values is greater then NULL value, and the sort of F will not take in considiration. So I guess the question is how can I sort NULL values and 0 values to be the same weight in the sort by command? in a asp .net application, I call a stored procedure which have a output parameter. the output parameter works find in sql session, but not in the asp .net application.
if I put select msg_out = "error message" in position A(see below for stored proc), it works fine if I put them inside the if statement, the output parameter wont work in asp .net application, but fine in SQL session The stored proc was created like this:
Create procedure XXXXXXX (@msg_out varchar(80) OUTPUT ) as begin
while exists (*******) begin //position A if certain condition begin
select msg_out = "error message" return 1 end
end
end
end
It seems to me that anything inside if - the second begin...end - it wont get executed.
Hello to all, i have a problem with IN-Operator. I cann't resolve it. I hope that somebody can help me. I have a IN_Operator sql query like this, this sql query can work. it means that i can get a result 3418: declare @IDM int; declare @IDO varchar(8000); set @IDM = 3418; set @IDO = '3430' select * from wtcomValidRelationships as A where (A.IDMember = @IDM) and ( @IDO in (3428 , 3430 , 3436 , 3452 , 3460 , 3472 , 3437 , 3422 , 3468 , 3470 , 3451 , 3623 , 3475 , 3595 , 3709 , 3723 , 3594 , 3864 , 3453 , 4080 )) but these numbers (3428 , 3430 , 3436 , 3452 , 3460 , 3472 , 3437 , 3422 , 3468 , 3470 , 3451 , 3623 , 3475 , 3595 , 3709 , 3723 , 3594 , 3864 , 3453 , 4080 ) come from a select-statement. so if i use select-statement in this query, i get nothing back. this query like this one:select * from wtcomValidRelationships as A where (A.IDMember = @IDM) and ( @IDO in (select B.RelationshipIDs from wtcomValidRelationships as B where B.IDMember = @IDM)) I have checked that man can use IN-Operator with select-statement. I don't know why it doesn't work with me. Could somebody help me? Thanks I use MS SQL 2005 Server Management Stadio Express Thanks a million and Best regards Sha

At one of my accounts I'm using SQL 2008r2 and SSIS in an DWH solution. Today I wanted to created a dynamic sql statement in one of the packages. The dynamic part is in the where-clause a sql query I use. I want to set the values for this clause dynamically. Therefor I created a user variable (named 'Filter') which should get it´s value at run-time.
/DTS "MSDBProdMy Package" /SERVER "My-Server" /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING EW /SET "Package.Variables[User::Filter].Properties[Expression]";" where [Starting Date] < '2008-09-01 00:00:00.000' "
However when I execute this package with dtexecui it doesn not use the value specified after the /SET parameter, but instead uses the value specifiied at design time. I get the same when I add the execution of ths pacakage as a sql server job step (type SSIS). I would expect that value specified after the /SET parameter would overwrite the valus specified at design time, but I don't see that happening.
I have a parameter that chooses its available items from a query (with a label and a value column). I set the default for the parameter to the a particular value.
It works in Preview from design mode, but when I deploy it and run the report, it does not set the default.
Hello!I have tables "forum_topics" and "forum_categories":forum_topics:-topic_id-topic_title-topic_cat_id-topic_user_id-topic_dateforum_categories:-cat_id-cat_name For example: I have 5 categories in table forum_categories and by this query I can display topics from 2nd and 3rd category only. So I'm using this query:SELECT topic_title FROM forum_topics WHERE topic_cat_id IN (2;3)Now I want to parametrized this query by one parameter, so: SELECT topic_title FROM forum_topics WHERE topic_cat_id IN (@param)And I want to input this parameter lik in the query first - so @param = "2;3"But I have a problem to make this works, can someone explain me, how to solve this problem ? Thanks.
Let's say i've got simple table with only one attribute - primary key. I'm populating GridView via SqlDataSource, however dunno how to update PK - how to pass new-updated value and old value (to locate the right record to update) as the UpdateCommand parameters from GridView control. Simple update sample using SQL statement: update TABLE_NAME set PRIMARY_KEY = @NEW_VALUE where PRIMARY_KEY = OLD_VALUE Thank you for your kind help.
In creating a report, how can you display a parameter selection that is a choice (for example, yes/no) where the data that is passed to the query is translated for the query. Selecting 'yes' would pass, for example, 'internal' to the query and selecting 'no' would pass 'external'.
Is this a setting that can be adjusted in Reporting Services, or is this just a matter of how I write my queries?
I am seriously stuck in SQL Reporting Services. And don't know where to go and what to do in order to achieve what I want to achieve.
1. In my report I have the following parameters. SiteID, Document Name, Document Location and Action. These values are picked from the database through queries and filled in the parameter combos.
2. I want the user to be able to view the report for 'Any', 'All' and/or 'None' of the values in the parameter.
e.g. 2.a. The user can generate the report and return all values. 2.b. The user can generate the report with a particular 'SiteID' but all Document Locations, Document Names and Actions. 2.c. The user can generate the report for 'All' SiteIDs, but one Document Location, 'All' Documents and 'All' Actions.
etc.
I was trying this out with parameters. But it wasn't working. Meaning, first of all I wasn't able to get 'All' from the database.
Can someone please help me out, or at least point me in the direction where I should be looking, since I have run out of options.

Is there any way to validate the input paratemers for the report? For example: I want to restrict the value to be less than 100 in one parameter. How to achieve this?
I have some 5 parameters which I've specified as multi-valued and my report uses a stored procedure. When I select all values in my dropdown (parameters) within my reports nothing shows up. How can I pass multiple values of a parameter into my stored procedure such that it works?
