I am having a problem. I know of hidden parameters in SQL 2005 RS, but I need to have this functionality as well for SQL 2000 RS. I read on the Net that MS SQL 2000 RS Service Pack 1 adds this functionality. I have installed SP4 for SQL 2000, then I installed RS SP1 on my laptop, but I don't see that functionality in VS 2003 Enterprise Architect. I even installed RS SP2 on my other machine, but still no joy. Am I missing something here or is Microsoft lying about this functionality? My client will be upgrading to SQL 2005 sometime in the near future (if they don't change their minds again), but I need to implement this kind of functionality now. I can't wait for them to upgrade to SQL 2005. This parameter I need to hide in the reports is necessary to ensure the reports show data by specific department. I'll implement it in such a way that when they call the report from the web application, I'll pass the departmentID to the report via the query string.
P.S. It is not possible for me to achieve this using JOINs in the queries. The parameter lists themselves depend on this value.

DTS In SQL 2000 Not Accepting Parameters

I am working on a DTS package in which one part is executing a SQL Task that's output is being stored in a global variable..or better yet, it WAS storing it. In the beginning it was working and I had an Active X task that would loop through the record set and write the contents in HTML to a flat file.
NOW, out of nowhere, when I press on the parameters button, I recieve the following error:
"The SQL Statement does not contain any parameters"
I made no changes and the funny thing about it is that I can still run the package and it still writes the output to the file, with different data if it applies ( it is calling a stored procedure ), I just cannot change it!
Has anybody ran into this? I have searched other discussion boards and there have been people with the same issue but I have not gotten a clear answer.
Any help would be very appreciative.

Mar 23, 2004I am trying to figure how to programmatically pass parameters to the report in SQL Reporting Services using web service API and then send this report to the printer. I found code in C# on how to print and it does work very well. I am hoping to add report parameters to this module. Any ideas, samples or help would really be appreciated.

Reporting Services 2000 / 2005 Parameters

Is there any way to pass a dataset parameter in RS 2000? Basicly, I have some data in my web page and want to print it. But I don't want to create another page to pass parameters to RS. I want to print the page as it is with the data already in the page, so if there is a way I can send the data through a dataset to the report directly, would be great. Is there?

SSRS 2005 V SSAS 2000 Mutli-Select Parameters
Nov 2, 2007Has anyone managed to crack getting multi-select parameters to work from an SSRS 2005 report which is querying an SSAS 2000 cube.
SSRS 2005 does support Multiselect, however SSRS 2000 did not. Given that i am querying an SSAS 2000 cube, i get the impression that i am also limited to SSRS 2000 functionality regarding to multi-select parameters.
Is there anyone out there that ever managed to get a wor around, say by using filters on a table or anything really that coud simulate the same behaviour....

I'm trying to create reports in RS2005 using AS2000 as my data source. I understand that if I use RS2005 on AS2000, I wont be able to enjoy the OLAP based parameters as in using AS2005. Does anyone know an easy way to easily use Parameters in RS2005 while still using AS2000?

The original article uses the code statements in pink for the Console Applcation of VB.NET. I do not know how to print out the output of ("Book Titles for this Author:"), ("{0}", myReader.GetString(2)), ("Return Value: " & (RetValue.Value)) and ("Number of Records: " & (NumTitles.Value)) in the Windows Application Form1 of my VB 2005 Express. Please help and advise.

Run Report By Different Parameters Without Having To Enter Information For All Parameters At Same Time
Oct 29, 2013I have a SSRS report with four parameters,and I want to be able to enter information for two of the parameters and run the report opposed to all four of them. However, when I select allow blanks and only select the parameters that I want to run the report by, the report come back blank..Essentially, I want to be able to the run report by different parameters without having to enter information for all parameters at the same time.

Feb 17, 2004My objective is to use Enterprise Manager to move (copy) my SQL db from the server to my windows desktop computer.
I downloaded MSDE and am having trouble installing it, no doubt because I do not understand the documentaion (ReadMeMSDE2000A.htm).
When I try to run setup, I get that message that says:
"A strong SA password is required for security reasons. Please use SAPWD switch to supply the same."
Considering my purpose, do I need a "strong" SA password? If not, how do I get around it? If yes, how do I set it up?
I am a Mac user so I have poor windows skills, please make it as painless as possible for me, thanks!

May 19, 2008Hi, I am trying to edit some data from a SQL2000-datasource in ASP.NET 2.0 and have a problem with a column that has bit-data and is used for selection. SQL2005 works fine when declaring <SelectParameters> <asp:Parameter DefaultValue="TRUE" Name="APL" Type="boolean" /> </SelectParameters>When running this code with SQL2000, there are no error-msgs, but after editing a record the "APL"-column looses its value of 1 and is set to 0. Looks like an issue with type-conversion, we've hit incompatibilities between SQL200 and 2005 with bit/boolean several times before. So, how is this done correctly with SQL2000? (I've tried setting the Type to "int16" -> err. Also setting Defval="1" gave an err) ThanksMichael

I have it set up so thatfor certain entry fields, the combobox gets populated with values froma table (the description appears in the drop-down and the correspondingprimary key value gets populated in the table). I created a number offorms using this technique, entered data, and everything worked fine.Made a small schema change and it broke everything -- not the actualtable links, but the functionality for the drop-downs. My values nolonger appeared, and this was true for forms that accessed tables whoseschemas did not change.This is driving me nuts. Is there any way to keep my forms frombreaking each time I make a small schema change?Thanks.- Dana

Sep 7, 2007I've just started getting this EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) on machines using Windows 2000 sp4 connecting to SQLServer. This is crashing JVMs (multiple Sun versions and BEA also) in the Java VM frame (outside our code). This has just started recently - perhaps with the last set of patches? Has anyone else seen this or know what I could do to get more information? Could this be related to updates to named pipes?

Converting Data From Access 2000 To SQL Server 2000

I worked on a project in ASP.NET using SQL server 2000 as the back end. Its a conversion application that I rewrote in ASP.NET using C#. I need to import the old data in Access db into SQL server 2000 and I have very little knowledge about doing it. The data in not a direct one -one transformation. There are considerable changes to the Database design and data types. Any help and suggestions wud be really helpful. Also, any article links wud be great.

I can't see the views and tables. Another thing is access disconects from SQL Server when I want to see the tables. So what can be the problem.
In one part there is an Access 2000 on Windows 2000 server. On the other part SQL Server 7.0 on Windows NT 4.0. And Access can't see the tables in SQL server.

May 9, 2002I have a public mailbox that gets information mailed to it (in a pre-determined format).
Is there a way for that info to be put into a table in SQL Server without any user interaction (something running on the exchange server)?
