Pass Hidden Parameter From One Dataset To Another

May 3, 2007

I have 2 datasets in my report and I want to pass a field from the 1st dataset as a parameter to the 2nd dataset.

How can I do this?

I tried to set the report parameter from a query using the 1st dataset but the parameter is always equal to the first record in the recordset-it never changes per row.

Pass Parameter Values To Stored Procedure In Dataset

Jul 10, 2007

I have a stored procedure "spDetailsByDay" which takes parameters @StartDateTime as datetime, @Day as int, @Hour as int, @Value1 as varchar(20), @value2 as varchar(20)

My report Parameters are StartDateTime as DateTime, Day as integer, Hour as integer, Value1 as string, Value2 as string, ReportType as string

In the dataset, I typed

=IIF(Parameters!ReportType.Value="Day", "EXEC spDetailsByDay " & Parameters!StartDateTime.Value & "," & Parameters!Day.Value & "," & Parameters!Hour.Value & "," & Parameters!Value1.Value & "," & Parameters!Value2.Value", "EXEC spDetailsByMonth")

I am getting syntax errors. Can anyone help me how to pass parameters to stored procedure in dataset.

Thanks.

Null Hidden Parameter

Aug 1, 2007

In my report I have a dataset that is returning an ID field among other things. I am setting a hidden parameter = to that ID field. That parameter is then used to return another dataset.

My problem is that the original dataset with the ID field does not always bring back data (this is expected). If data is not brought back, I get an error when I try to execute the report ("The 'X' parameter is missing a value").

I have the parameter set to "Allow Null Values".

This value is not required in the SQL Server stored procedure that returns values for the new dataset.
The parameter is of type Integer. (So I am not able to set the "Allow Blank Value" property)
This is NOT a multi-value parameter.

Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas/workarounds to solve my problem?

Reporting Services :: Hidden Parameter Stops Working

Nov 22, 2015

I have a working set of parameters, when they are all visible. However, when I change the second parameter to hidden it stops working.

First Parameter - Contains static values 'MTD' & Daily
Second Parameter - has available values and a default. Set up to be invalidated when the First parameter changes... like i say it works beautifully when not hidden.
Third Parameter - has an expression takes the value of the 2nd parameter value, removes the first character off and then converts the remainder to a date and uses it as its default value.

It based on this webpage: URL....However, when i set the second parameter to hidden it no longer works.

Analysis :: Hidden Power Pivot KPIs - Not Hidden In SSAS

Aug 20, 2015

Given a model in Power Pivot with a number of KPIs that are hidden with the 'hide from client tools' option. After restoring the model in SSAS and connecting to the model from Excel, the KPIs are visible under a separate category/table "KPIs".

Other hidden items in the model like columns and measures remain invisible.

Is this normal behavior and what can I do about this?

Reporting Services :: Query To Pull SSRS Parameter Properties (Hidden / Visible / Internal)

May 19, 2015

We have 1000s of SSRS reports hosted on the SQL 2008 R2. All reports are supposed to have all parameters "hidden". Random reports have been reported to expose the parameter when developers accidently deploy to test servers. Is there a way to identify the reports and the parameter property (Hidden, Visible, Internal) from the Report server Database?

I checked executionlog2 but can not find the parameter property.

Reporting Services :: Adding Dataset Parameter Doesn't Add Report Parameter In Visual Studio 2008 SSRS

Apr 22, 2015

I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter.  If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank.  However, sometimes this will automatically add.

Is this a bug in Visual Studio?  How do I get around this?

Filters For Dataset From Parameter - How To Ignore If The Parameter Is NULL ?

Apr 10, 2007

Hi,

I am starting to use reporting services and I created a report that takes 4 parameters for a Filter on the dataset.

The idea is the create snapshot nightly and then display the report filtered based on parameters to users.

I'd like that the filter be ignored for a parameter if the parameter is passed as NULL,

Right now I defined it this way :

Left =Fields!RegionCode.Value
Operator =
Right =IIF(IsNothing(Parameters!RegionCode.Value),Fields!RegionCode.Value,Parameters!RegionCode.Value)

I do this for the 4 parameters that are passed, if they are null, make then equals to the field.

I was wondering if there is a way to ignore the whole parameter all together, I would guess it'll be faster to execute.

Thanks

Reporting Services :: SSRS 2012 Multi Value Parameter Value To Be Hidden When Other Values Are Selected From Preview Of Report

Jul 7, 2015

There is a multi value parameter called  "include" in the report where "Allow Multiple Values" is checked and it has 4 Available values as shown in the attached screen shots and preview of the report is also shown .There is no data set for this parameter and the values  will get displayed on the report based on the visibility condition set in the report.Example : If first value  is selected  then 1 is passed and based on the visibility condition set in the report - the report output is displayed.None is default value and has value 4  and when the report is run with this option i.e. "None" then rest three parameter values are not applicable .

Requirement :
-When the end user selects (Select All) Check box then (None)
-check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user
-When the end user selects check boxes either of the first three except None then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for -selection for the end user
-when the end user selects a combination of first three then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user
-The None is set as default with a value as 4 and is applicable only when the user does not select either of the first three values and the report will run.

Cannot Pass Parameter Via URL

May 22, 2008

I see a lot of posts asking for help with this type of problem but cannot find an answer that works. After 24 hours of trying, using examples from the Microsoft documentation, it's been utterly impossible to pass a parameter to a report via URL.

To make sure I'm not fighting more than one problem at the same time, I've stepped away from the production report I was trying to produce and created a simple report with a parameter named "p1". The only field on this test report is a textbox that displays the value of the parameter "p1". If I set the report up so that the user is queried for a value for "p1", the report works as expected -- the parameter is echoed back on the report.

The same thing can't be done via the URL. If I follow the docs and tack something like &rs:Command=Render&p1=hello onto the URL, I'm prompted for a value and/or told 'p1 is missing a value', depending on the visibility and default options I set for the parameter in the report definition.

I've tried every possible combination of settings I can think of for a parameter in the report definition, and every single one fails. Is this a task that's beyond RS abilities?

T-SQL: Is It Possible To Pass A Table As Parameter?

Dec 7, 2007

Can a table be passed as parameter to a T-SQL procedure or function? One can define a temporary table within a procedure, and the system then manages its lifetime, keeps it separate from other instances executing the same procedure, etc: -    CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.name (@Parameter1, @Parameter2)    AS    BEGIN        DECLARE @name TABLE             (column list)        etcPerfect: but I need to be able to have another [recursive] procedure process this table.  How do I make it available to the second procedure?   If I write     EXEC procedure @Namean error message "Must declare the variable '@Name'" is produced.  Within the 2nd procedure, an attempt to name a table within the parameter list results in another error message, "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'TABLE'".    If I can't pass it as argument/parameter, then how do you process a temporary table in another procedure?  Do I pass a cursor to it?  Or is it quite impossible?Regards, Robert Barnes.

Pass A Parameter To A Trigger?

Oct 18, 2004

The application developers came up with an interesting requirement that I’d like some help with.

They want to be able to somehow pass a parameter to the trigger that is fired when you do something to a table. The parameter would control what logic is executed within the trigger.

The two solutions that I proposed, but were found unacceptable by them were:
1.Have parameter as a column within the table itself.
2.Don’t use Update, Delete, Insert but instead use a stored procedure.

Thoughts are welcome.

Thanks.
