Hi all. Is it possible to pass parameter FROM Report to my windows application(C#) ? Report is made in Business Intelligence Project. Request is to have a Requirement number from the requirement form generate a report in Reporting Services with the requirement number as a filter.
I can set up the parameter - how does the value get there? Should I be asking this question in the Visual C# group?

Here's tricky one.
I have a fairly complex report that was given to me that was hard coded for single parameters. There is a dropdown for each market (created from a query in SSRS). The users have to run for each market each week.
Is there a way to use this report as a Sub-report inside a list of a master report and then use a mult-value parameter?
I want this multi-value parameter to build the values for the list and then run the "sub-report" for each value.
Essentially, I want to create a for each loop.
Any ideas?

When I click the link I am taken to the report but it is waiting for me to enter a parameter. I can see the parameter in the url address and it looks correct. I also tried Parameter!Cust.value (which has the same value as Fields!Cust.Value) but get the same result.
The target report has the correct name parameter: Cust. In any case, when I use "Jump to report" instead, it works correctly - although I don't see the parameter value in the url.
Any advice appreciated.

I am trying to create a drill-down report by passing the Customer ID number to the drill report. The 'parent' report is a tabular report, as is the 'child.' As long as I used the numeric Customer ID, the child report returned no rows from the passed parameter. However, when I use the Customer Name instead, the child report functions correctly.
Here is the parameter as passed using the Customer ID:
[Customer Hierarchy].[Customer ID].&[70011231]
Can anyone shed some light on why this wouldn't work?

I have a string report parameter called @name. In my script, i have and a.name like '%@name%' but it returns no rows. I tried removing the '% but still doesn't work. What is the correct way to script this?

That is NOT what everyone was asking. I would like to know how to pass a parameter I already have into my stored procedure. Using Visual Studio 2005, in the "Data" tab of a report calling something likeUnique_Login_IPsreturns correctly when that stored proc takes no params, but when I have one that takes the year, for example, I do not know how to pass this info in. Note: the following does not work in this context : EXEC Unique_Login_IPs ParameterValue nor does EXEC Some_proc_without_paramsVisual studio seems to want only the procedure name because it returns errors that say a procedure with the name "the entire line above like EXEC Unique_Login_IPs ParameterValue" does not exist.... What I did so far was to pass the report parmeter in report 1 as "Fields! attribute X ,Value" and same for Y
The problem with is that only the first value of the group that satisfies condition gets passed on to the detail reports. Kindly let me know were I am going wrong and what should I be doing.

I have a Report that I want to access that has a parameter input for the date, Production_Date. I want to allow the user to use the DateTimePicker to select the date to use for Production_Date. I have two reports in my project. One is summary and the other is drill through. In Summary report I have StartDate and EndDate Parameters which are DateTime type. Language settings on my workstation are set to Canadian English, and so are in the IE. When I deploy the reports to the Sharepoint WebParts based reporting portal, the reports run fine individually. However, when I try to drill through from summary report to the detail report, the following error is displayed, where the StartDate is 13/07/2007 (Canadian format dd/MM/yyyy):
The value provided for the report parameter 'StartDate' is not valid for its type. (rsReportParameterTypeMismatch)
Why do the reports run fine individually? Obviously something is wrong with Report Server processing the parameters, that it converts the date format to US English only when passing parameters to drill through report. This problem is eliminated when I change the language settings to US-English on my workstation.
Any ideas how can this be fixed, if at all? It would certainly be not feasible to have all the users change their settings from Canadian to US-English.

I can pass a parameter from an Access Query to an Access Report (MDB) by entering [Select Date] in the Query criteria and by placing an unbound control with a control source =[Select Date] on the report. I can't get this to work from a SQL Function Criteria to an unbound control on the Access Data Project Report. In the Function Criteria, I enter @SelectDate. In the Report control, I enter @SelectDate and it gives me an 'Invalide Column Name' error. Any idea how I can pass a parameter from a SQL Function to an ADP report?

I am passing the partameters to MS Report Viewer control to view the report. It is working fine with normal parameters like 'abc', 'Jon' etc.
But fails with parameters having special characters like 'abc+', 'Version 1.1 Part 1', 'R1.8 RC' throws error "
The parameter is missing a value"

I have two report , first is main report which is matrix and have one parameter User_ids which is multi value selection and my second report is basic chart of user_wise performance.
Now, my main report (matrix ) works fine for Multiple selection of users and i have putted one textbox on main report chart which has action properties set for chart report, when user click on chart button it must goes to chart with user selected in main report. Now , i have used expression for parameter to send it like ..
=join(parameter!user_id!value,",") which pass selected value to chart
And when I am selecting single user it passing that value to chart parameter list but , when it is more than one user it errors with conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '121,128' to data type int. But my chart also works when passing 121,128 in user parameter in preview of report .

Here is a situation in my company:
We have an Office SharePoint 2007 site, we developed a couple of web parts and added them to our site. We used SQL Server Reporting services 2005 as our reporting solution. The reports are hosted on the report center and when we need a report, we open it by sending a URL requesting the report, passing the report parameters in the URL query string. So the report is filtered based on the parameters passed from the web parts.
But since best practices say that you should host reports directly under SharePoint, by configuring the reporting services to run in the SharePoint integrated mode. We followed the steps and installed SharePointRS and we finally succeeded to publish the reports to a SharePoint folder, but we had a limitation: we are unable to pass the report parameters internally to the report hosted in SharePoint. If we passed them in the query string as the report center case, SharePoint neglects them totally.
So the question is: how can I pass parameters internally between a SharePoint web part and a SQL server 2005 reporting services report hosted in SharePoint?
I am trying to develop a report from cube,and it has one drill through report.when i click on sales amount field on main report,then it open the drill through report with details.Here i passed the **(category,subcat,product)parameters(Cascaded)** to drill through report in action part of main report.In my main report i have two columns .

In VB.NET this doesn't work either:

I don't want to parse the string inside the proc and then Exec the parsed string.

I have this situation,I need to store results of a Select Count(*) from TableA to a parameter and only if the value of the count(*) is greater than 50,000,a notification mail would be sent out to the table owner.Currently this is what I have done:
1) Use SQL task to include "Select Count(*) from TableA"
2) In parameter mapping tab of SQL Task, define the following
Parameter name : Table::Count
Direction: Input
Data Type: Numeric
Parameter Name : @Count
3) I have connected the SQL Task to a Send Mail Task [ Only If @count>50 000, then a mail should be sent out]
4) The constraints has been set as
Evaluation Operation : Expression and Constraints
Value: Success
Expression : @Count >"50000"
In SSIS tab > Variable
I have set the following
Variable Name : Count
DataType : Int32
Can someone advise me where I am going wrong, as when I execute the SQL Task turns greens and ends.Even when the count of tableA is greater than 50 000, no mails I sent out[send mail task does not get executed]

My data table contains a column (a foreign key) with numbers from 0 and up. (it could be null or a number. I used ISNULL to convert it.) I want to be able to select in three ways. 1) equals zero (or is null)2) greater than zero (or is not null)3) equal to a specific number.How do I do this?My application setup is Presentation Layer, BLL, DAL and Sql Server.I don't want to create another Query because this is only part of a larger query with other parameters.If I could just do something like @IDOperator @IDValue in the Filter of the Sql it would be great.

Can someone kindly point out what is wrong with the following code file. I'm trying to:
- fill a dropdown from a db on page load (this works!)
- when user selects from the list and hits a button, pass the dropdown value to a second query
- use the second query to make another call to the db and fill a data grid
In the code below, if I swap an actual value (eg '1005') into the command and comment out the .Parameter.Add statements, the dategrid is filled sucessfully. Otherwise, when the button is pressed, nothing is displayed.
