Printing Table Rights From Multiple Security Groups

Problem With Matrix (in Subreport, Multiple Groups), Groups Repeating First Row Data
Jan 25, 2008I have a new SQL 2005 (SP2) Reporting Services server to which I've just upgraded and deployed some SSRS 2000 reports.
I have a subreport that contains a matrix with two groups. The report data seems to be inexplicably repeating the data for the first row in the group for all rows in the group. Example:

Parent group is on ID1, child group is on ID2, report would show:

Is this a matrix bug in 2005 SP2, or do I need to do something differently? I can no longer pull a comparison version from an SSRS 2000 server to verify, but I believe it was working as expected before...
Hide Collapse All/Expand All Textbox For Groups When Printing Report

I have a report with some groups which can all be expanded/collapsed by clicking on a textbox with an action attached to it.
The example I used can be found here: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=600583&SiteId=1
But I want to hide the row containing this textbox (or the textbox itself) on the actual printed report.
Is there any report item that can tell me if the report is in preview phase, or can it be solved in any other way?

SQL Security :: Mapping AD Groups To Certain DBs
May 10, 2015I am using Windows server 2012 Standard R2 and SQL Server 2014 Enterprise. I have created three AD Groups and added the groups to the SQL server:
Group A. Group B, and Group C. I have mapped each group to their database which I created on the same SQL server.
Now I have Group A mapped to Database A, Group B mapped to Database B, and Group C mapped to Database C.
Now all the users in all the groups can see each other databases, I need to give full permission to Group A for ONLY database A and NOT to allow them access Database B and C, also I need to do the same thing for the other two groups, this means each group can only access their database and not allowed to access other databases.

I have a question about granting enough rights to allow a non admin user to start and stop a sql server service via the SQL Server Management Studio by right clicking on the server node.
I have changed the acl's of the SQL Server service security and gave the user rights to start and stop the service. This does allow them to connect remotly to the server using computer manager and they successifully start and stop the service. But, in SQL Server Management Studio the option still does not show up, unless he is a admin of the server.
Does anyone know what other security settings I need to address for the start and stop to show up when I right click on the server node?

NT Security: Global Vs. Local Groups

In NT MS suggests putting global groups into local groups and then assigning object permissions to those local groups in NTFS. I was wondering if this pattern should be followed in SQL server when assigning permissions to integrated login accounts. Is it better to use global groups or local groups?

in the security manager,security manager is blank.

( note :the production server is analysis sercvices 2000 and the stage server is analysis services 2005)

Jul 23, 2005Hi,Apologies for not knowing much around this subject, we currently run sqlserver 2000 for a database and have each user marked up on the database.We are moving to use a windows security group, so taking themanagement slightly away from the database server.What I would like to know is, will this effect functions such assuser_sname() by returning the group name instead of user id? I wouldassume not but it's worth checking!Also, I'm guessing if a user is marked on the database as their own idand as part of a security group, then all permissions are thrown in withdeny taking preference? How does this work with a database owner who isalso part of a security group that has limiting functionality?Thanks for your help,Chris

I have a report running and I am attempting to assign role based security. I added a group to the site level security. The group I added contains child groups. It doesn't seem that report server is looking into the child groups to see if the logged in user is a member of the child group. Is there anyway to get this to work instead of adding all the groups directly? I suspect that report server is using cominterop and cominterop is not traversing the directory tree?

Sep 19, 2007It appears that I have a machine where the SQL Server 2005 Security groups were deleted, now I am unable to change account settings in configuration manager ( I get a WMI provider error ). Is there any way to recreate these security groups without uninstalling and reinstalling SQL Server?

Jan 10, 2008I have a report that prints one record on a page. It also has four tables which print records from related tables. I pass it the ID of the master record an it works great.
But I need to be able to print multiple master records, ie use the same form to print more than one record from the master table. I can pass more than one ID and change the Stored proc to return more than one master record, which I believe, with the addition of a page marker, will produce a multiple form report - but what about the tables which display multiple records for each ID? Does reporting Services understand the relationship between the tables and and restrict the tables on each page to the ID?David
Report Printing Multiple Pages, Only Want One
Aug 8, 2007I have a report that only has one page when previewed but when it's printed there are two pages. This is a problem because I get two printed pages to my report with "1 of 2 pages" on the first page and "2 of 2 pages" on the second but there is only data on the first page and the second has header and footer but no data.
Is there a way to force the report to fit everything on one page? Or some other setting I am missing?

I Need To Give DBA Full Admin Rights To SQL 2005 Without OS Windows Rights, Can Anyone Help Please!!
Jul 12, 2007The DBA at our location is demanding local admin (windows) right's to the box so he can function. Right now when he logs in i have given him right's to the inetpub directory, sql directory, i have set him as a sysadmin on sql2005 and gone into the http:\localhost
eports and set him up as a system manager and under site priveledges set him as a sys admin. When he tries to login and configure the report server he gets the following error:

A WMI error has occurred and no additional error information is availiable

Users In Multiple Groups Within One Database
Dec 10, 1998We are trying to setup security on our Sql Server. We are using Integrated
Security.
The problem we are having is that we need to have a user belong to multiple groups within one database. The user would have different rights depending upon which group they belonged to.
So far we have not found anyway to accomplish this setup.
I would appreciate any ideas/thoughts on this matter.

Counting Customers That Are In Multiple Groups
Feb 19, 2013I have a large table that tells me customers and mailings (~4 million rows). So for each customer, I see what mailing(s) they received. It is at the mailing level so if a customer received 2 mailings, their will be 2 records for that customer number, one for each mailing they received. There are 3 different mailings.I am trying to calculate the count of customers that received all 3, as well as those that received 1&2 only, 1&3 only, and 2&3 only. For example:

Results:
All 3 - 1

I have tried doing some funky table joining and EXISTS, but the query runs and runs because of how much data it has to sift through. Here is the code I am using to find Mailing 1&2 only customers, but I am not even sure it is getting me the right numbers. There are 2 different types of customers as well which is why I have custtype in there.

SQL 2012 :: Multiple Availability Groups On One Instance
Aug 12, 2013From what I understand, one SQL Server 2012 instance can host multiple availability groups. That should allow, for example, the following situation - one SQL Server 2012 instance containing three primary replica databases - each one part of a different availability group - and each availability group's secondary replica located on a separate SQL Server 2012 instance.
Can you have three SQL Server 2012 instances, each with one primary replica database and have all three secondary replica databases on one SQL Server 2012 instance? So instead of, as above, going from 1 primary server to 3 secondary servers, this time we're going from 3 primary servers to 1 secondary server? The one secondary server would then contain all three secondary replicas for each of the 3 separate primary replicas.
This would mean that the single server (where all three secondary replicas reside) was part of three separate Windows Server Failover Clustering clusters.
Is this scenario possible?

Oct 9, 2007I am working on conversion of Crystal reports to SSRS. The existing report has two level of grouping. So I have included 2 list inside a third list and then done the grouping. Is there another way to do multiple grouping ? Every thing is working fine except for getting one extra blank page at the end of report with only header and footer. I have properly checked the body height and width and page margins. It has something to do with list but i cant figure out what.

This is easy enough for single-sided printing, but when printing in duplex the software does not take into account that 3 printing pages actually equates to 2 pieces of paper. I know this sounds simple, but say I have a print job record that looks like this:

This is a print jobs that if done correctly is actually 21 pages( duplex printing). If the job is say total_pages =5 I cant just divide by 2 because its actually using 3 pieces of paper ( yes they are wanting this data don't ask why). How can I adjust some sql to accurately depict 5 pages, front and back, as 3 pieces of paper?
Landscape Printing From Report Manager Not Printing All Displayed Columns On Each Page
May 3, 2007I have deployed a report that is configured for landscape printing. It does print in landscape, however, only the first seven columns appear on the first page and the other five columns appear on the next page. Is there a method, like in print preview setup in MS Excel, where we can scale down the print (like to 80%) so all columns appear on each page?

SQL Server 2012 :: Calculate Number Of Groups And Group Size With Multiple Criteria
Jun 15, 2015I need to calculate the last two columns (noofgrp and grpsize) No of Groups (count of Clientid) and Group Size (number of clients in each group) according to begtim and endtime. So I tried the following in the first Temp table
GrpSize= count(clientid) over (partition by begtime,endtime) else 0 end
and in the second Temp Table, I have

The issue is for the date of 5/26, the begtime and endtime are not consistent. in Grp1 (group 1) all clients starts the session at 1030 and ends at 1200 (90 minutes session) except one who starts at 11 and end at 1200 (row 8). For this client since his/her endtime is the same as others, I want that client to be in the first group(Grp1). Reverse is true for the second group (Grp2). All clients begtime is 12:30 and endtime is 1400 but clientid=2 (row 9) who begtime =1230 but endtime = 1300. However, since this client begtime is the same as the rest, I wan that client to be in the second group (grp2) My partition over creates 4 groups rather than two.
Generate Single Record That Shows Status Of Accounting Period For Multiple Groups?
Mar 26, 2015I'm trying to generate a single record that shows the status of an accounting period for multiple groups. For a single accounting period they could all be the same, or all be different (open, closed, hold, etc)
What I want to do is select the accounting period with a group by that says if all the groups are in the same status, then that's the status. But if there are different status' for the period, I just want to have a single line that says 'Mixed' The query below returns 3 records, but I only want 2. I tried a CASE WHEN Having COUNT > 1 but it blew up with an aggregate subquery in a group by error.
