Problem In Viewing MHTML Report When It Is Exported

Apr 10, 2008

Hi, I am facing a different problem when MHTML report is exported, this happens in alternatve requests, but when I save the file report is proper.The only problem is when I click on Open button , it pops another dialouge with

Name: wbk3E.tmp
Type: HTML DOcument
From :mhtml:http://localhost/riq/web/UI/RunReports.aspx

wbk3E.tmp file is not displaying any report data, I am not getting what happens when I click on Open button..The same code is working on first request and its alternative requests fails to show the report...I don't have any problem with CSV and XML exports.

Please suggest me what is the problem in opening the report on Even open clicks. The below lines of code that renders the report.

try
{
Response.Clear();
Response.ClearContent();
Response.ClearHeaders();
switch (_format)
{
case "MHTML":
Response.ContentType = "text/mhtml";
Response.AddHeader("Content-disposition", "attachment;filename=output.mhtml");
break;
}
Response.OutputStream.Write(m_bytes, 0, m_bytes.Length);
Response.OutputStream.Flush();
Response.OutputStream.Close();
Response.Flush();
Response.Close();
Response.End();

Table Columns Expand Horizontally When Viewing Report Through Report Server

Jan 10, 2008

I have an interesting problem to report that I'm hoping someone will be able to assist in solving.

I have a report that contains a table inside of a list. When I view this report on my local machine via Visual Studio, everything appears normal, the columns are all the correct size. However, as soon as I publish this report to the report server and attempt to view it via Report Manager, one of the columns expands horizontally!

From all of the documentation I have read, I understand that Reporting Services does not provide the ability for columns to expand horizontally, only vertically. Can anyone help explain why this is happening or a possible solution to turn this automatic expanding off?

Many thanks,

Report Loses The Format When Exported From The Second Time

Mar 12, 2008

Hi all,

I am using client reports and SQL server 2005. I have created reports that accepts datasets and displays in the reports. I am also displaying the client's product image in the reports.

The problem I am facing is this.
When I export the report to excel for the first time every thing is fine. The issue is when I export after the second time.

From the second time whenever i export the report to EXCEL, I see that the second excel sheet does not follow the same alignment and format the first one had.

CSV File Is Getting Messed Up When SSRS Report Is Being Exported To Csv Format

Sep 10, 2007

Hi,

I am using expressions for the textboxes in the Table control Header, because the header names should be displayed in both English as well as in Japanese based on the language selection.The report works fine and all the render formatts except CSV are working fine.when i export this report to CSV, the header names are not coming in the first row of CSV , but some other textbox names (eg textbox 34..) are being displayed on the first row of CSV.From second row onwards, i am getting the header names seperated by comma and the data is being displayed.This header names are being repeated for all the rows in the CSV along with the data.Please give me a solution regarding this.

I tried by setting Data Element as "NO" from "Auto".I could stop the header names being repeated from second row in CSV, but i couldnot get the names in the first row of CSV.

I need to have all the header names as first row in csv and from the second row, i need data.

Data Not Shown, When Report Exported To Excel-Sheet

Feb 21, 2008

Hi everybody,

I'm quite new in Reporting Services and have the following problem:

I created a report which is getting its data from 5 different databases. For every database I made a subreport to get the data. In the preview and on the Reporting Server all the data is displayed find. Now I want to export the report to an Excel sheet which does work. But where the data from the subreports is to be shown it just says that subreports in table-cells has been ignored.

Another problem is that the way the report looks in the preview is fine - on the reporting server the columns are far to wide. I allready marked that the width should be fixed.

Some more information: in the main report some cells are merged. In these merged cells is the data from the subreport to be shown. The subreport displays the data in a table which has exact the same amount of colums (and the same size) the cells in the main report had before merging.

Thanks in advance,

Steph

Viewing Report From Report Manager

Jan 22, 2008

Hi,
I made a SSRS report in .Net IDE and then deployed it on to the SSRS report server. The deployment went through and I could see the report on the Report Manager page. But now the issue is that when I click on the report name in the Report Manager the report tries to render itself but can't do it and throws up the following error:

An error has occurred during report processing.

Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'.

The feature: "The edition of Reporting Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database." is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.

I had built this datasource in the .Net IDE and is not visible on the Report Manager data source page.

Any ideas how to resolve this??
My versions: OS: Windows XP SP2;; SQL Server 2005 Exp Adv (with reporting services support). This is all being worked out on the same machine.

Thanks.

External Images Appear Broken In MHTML Format

May 2, 2007

Server Software:

SQL Server 2000 (all sps up to date)

SSRS 2000 (all sps up to date)

We have an issue when emailing a report that contains external images.

When the email recipient receives the report the images appear broken.

Although when we check the report in the report server it displays correctly and all images are intact.

We also noticed that if we manually "export" the report to the MHTML format the images appear broken but if we immediately export the report again the images appear perfectly. (the report must be exported to MHTML twice in order to work. This has been verified and is repeateable)

It is almost as if the MHTML format cannot reference the images fast enough to include them in the report on the first try. But, it is able to do so on the second attempt...

We would rather use external images as we have 700+ reports and manually updating embedded images takes quite a while. Then we can update a single image to change all reports.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Added Space Character On The Header/Footer Contents Of An Exported Report In Excel

May 21, 2008

A space was added as the first character of the contents in the Left, Center and Right section of the Report Header and Footer exported to Excel. Example :

In the RDL, Header values are:

Left = "Product Report" ; Center = "Confidential" ; Right = "Page n of n"

In the exported report to Excel, Header properties (-->File.-->Page Setup--> Header/Footer Tab) are:

Left = " Product Report" ; Center = " Confidential" ; Right = " Page n of n"

Is there a way to eliminate that space character?

Problem Viewing Reports In Report Builder

Feb 8, 2006

Hi.

I get a problem when I want to preview a report in Report Builder. I just launch Report Builder by the url [1] (RS is on a server, and I work on a laptop). Then I choose a model and create a simple report. When I press "Run Report", I get an error message saying: "The permissions granted to user 'mydomainmyusername' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)". But my user are assigned to content manager...

If I then save the report to the Report Server, I can access the report through e.g. the Report Manager without any problems.

Why doesn't the preview functionality work for me? Are there some settings I need to set, or is it a bug in Report Builder?

Reporting Services :: SSRS 2012 - Groups In Report Manager Not Present When Exported To Excel

Mar 2, 2015

I have a report in SSRS2012. It was copied from SSRS2005 quite recently, as we have upgraded. The SQL developer said that it didn't need any code changes, as he had some kind of tool to test code problems between the two versions. The report has a table, with 5 row groups, and one detail row. The table is setup as follows:

Name             Sales          Costs       Profit

Group1
   Group2
      Group3
         Group4
            Group5
               DetailsRow

When I run this report using the Report Manager website from SSRS2005, and then export to Excel 2013, I get the 6 row groups in Excel, no problem whatsoever. I can drill into each group in Excel, using the group drilldown column on the left hand side. This works the same as the Report Manager website.

If I run the exact same report from the Report Manager website in SSRS2012, the Report Manager result is the same as SSRS2005 - all the row groups are present, and the drilldown works fine. However, the export to Excel has issues with the groups. There are only 3 row groups showing in Excel, along with a column group added for no apparent reason.

Drilling into each group shows inconsistent details, and there is no apparent logic as to what is shown within each group. I should also mention, that this issue with groups is seen on all my reports which have groups, not just this report.

Viewing Reports Via Report Manager Fails (while Other Methods Succeed)

May 14, 2008

I'm having a strange problem with SSRS 2005 that I'm hoping someone might be able to help with. I've reinstalled SSRS (multiple times) and even reinstalled IIS hoping to resolve the problem, but it still exists.

The problem is that trying to view a report via Report Manager is failing. All other operations within Report Manager work fine (browsing folders and report lists, viewing folder and report properties, changing properties, setting permissions, etc.) Only trying to view reports fails. Whenever I try to view a report, I get the following error:

The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied.

I can view reports via other methods just fine. For example, if I browse to the http://localhost/reportserver URL directly, I can view any report just fine. And if I connect to SSRS via SSMS, I can view reports there as well. I believe that both of those methods use a direct reportserver URL versus using the http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx page within the Report Manager virtual directory.

Here's a bit of configuration information that may or may not be helpful to someone:

1. This is on a laptop running Windows XP SP2 (32-bit). SSRS (and all SQL Server components) are installed as default instances and SQL Server SP2 has been applied to everything.

2. All of the latest updates and fixes for Windows, SQL Server, Office, etc. have been installed via Windows Update.

3. This laptop is a member of a domain, but I am typically not connected to the domain (not in the office very often). I am, however, logging into the laptop using a domain account (with cached credentials). Local user accounts are frowned on by the domain and IT administrators involved (except for running local services). My domain account has full admin permissions within Windows and within SQL everywhere.

4. As far as I can tell, everything with regards to IIS, asp.net, and SSRS are configured correctly (ASPNET account seems to be set up correctly, all SQL services including the SSRS service are running under a local account with admin permissions, the Reports and ReportServer virtual directories in IIS are set to use Integrated Security, etc.)

I'm not an expert on SSRS, so this one has me stumped. I've reviewed all of the config files that I can think of looking at for SSRS and I've looked at the SSRS logs. Nothing really jumps out at me in terms of changes that might be required (and the SSRS logs don't really say much other than repeating the error). For example, I see the following lines in the ReportServerWebApp__xxx.log file:

aspnet_wp!ui!8!5/14/2008-13:00:17:: e ERROR: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied.
aspnet_wp!ui!8!5/14/2008-13:00:17:: e ERROR: HTTP status code --> 500
-------Details--------
System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied.

Anyone have any ideas? I've searched Google for quite a while trying to find something that would help me figure this out, but thus far I've not been able to come up with anything. Any help (or pointers to something on teh web somewhere that I might have missed) would be appreciated!!

Giant White Space Shows Up When Viewing In Report Manager Only

May 16, 2006

Hello

I have created a report that works how I want it in the visual studio 2003 designer. I have deployed it to our test box (sql server 2k, reporting services with sp2) and when we preview the report, there is a giant white space between the graph in the report and the matrix object below it. This white space was not in the designer. It only shows when previewing the report. If you print from the report manager, it does not print the white space.

Is there a way to remove it from the report manager when the report is previewed? I am sure users will complain when they see this.

Thanks.

SSRS - Assert Errors When Viewing Report (RenderReport/RenderSnapshot)

Oct 26, 2007

I've been trying to find a fix to this but none of the ones I've found seem to fit.

I have a report uploaded to an SSRS server, it is part of a five report drill-through project. The top-level report renders without error. When I drill through to the second-level report I get an error. This also happens if I navigate to that report directly.

This is only happening on the machine listed below, it works fine in my staging and dev envs. And "User!UserId" is nowhere to be found in the RDL.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can provide more info as needed.

Export To A Text File, Then Name The Exported File The Date Is Was Exported, Then Zip

Jul 3, 2007

Hi folks

Any help on my request would greatly be appreciated. We are trying to maintain the growth of a particular table, by exporting and deleting data that is older then 90 days. Here are the 4 steps I need to do. I believe I know how to do 1 and 4;

1. Create a job that continously exports data that is older then 90 days to a text file

select *

from table A

WHERE (CREATED < DATEADD(DAY, - 90, GETDATE()))

(the column 'created' datatype is datetime and looks like this '3/5/2007 3:11:44 PM')

2. Have the job automatically name the exported file, the day it was exported (i.e. 07032007 (todays date))

3. Then zip that file (we're using 7-zip)

4. Then delete the data out of the table

delete

from table A

WHERE (CREATED < DATEADD(DAY, - 90, GETDATE()))

Im not a big scripter/coder, so I was wondering if there is anything I could do in SSIS. Im more familiar with DTS, so any kind of baby steps you could provide in SSIS, would go a long way.

Thank you so much.
