Problem With Installing SQL Server 2005 Data Mining Add-Ins

Hi,
I have a problem with installing SQL Server 2005 Data Mining Add-Ins for Office 2007 package.
I downloaded and installed to my laptop and I did not see the analyze tab under Table tools.
Do you have any idea?
I unistall and reinstall the add-in
I uninstall the previous version 2003 and now I have only Office 2007
I have Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
and Microsoft Office Excel 2007 12.0.4518.1014 MSO 12.0.4518.1014
I have all program in English but I have Greek regional settings.
Do you have any idea, please help me.

Hi, all here,
I am wondering where can I store my mining results in data mining engine? For example, I got mining results like accuracy chart, decision trees, and other formats of results based on different mining algorithms I used for my data mining, so where can I actually store the results for reporting service use later? Is it possible to do that in SQL Server 2005?

I have SQL 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 and I´m trying to install the Data Mining Web Controls. I downloaded the SQL Samples and I´m following the instructions of the "ReadMe_Data_Mining_Web_Controls.htm" file, but when I try to install de data mining web controls the setup.exe does´nt create the folder "C:Program FilesMicrosoft.AnalysisServices.DataMiningHtmlViewers " and the folder "C:Inetpubwwwrootaspnet_clientmicrosoft_analysisservices_datamininghtmlviewers ".
Then, I don´t have the file "C:Program FilesMicrosoft.AnalysisServices.DataMiningHtmlViewersMicrosoft.AnalysisServices.DataMiningHTMLViewers.dll " for using the web controls.
Can somebody help me?

I am trying to use a new microsoft add-in for office 2007. I installed the 180 day trial version of SQL Server 2005 and according to the instructions it was suppose to be very easy to connect the add in to SQL. I am receiving an error message which I cannot find a resolution to using the readme file and wonder if you can help. Here is the url to the readme file and a screenshot with a summary of the add in.

Hi all,
Is this book still the only book written for SQL2005's data mining? Does anyone know where I can find its errata? I have never seen so many editorial errors (typos, mislabeling, etc.) in other books. I am not worried about those obvious errors, but I am afraid that some errors may be so deceiving that when I find out, a lot of time will have been spent on misguided effort.

I am just starting to learn how to use data mining with SQL server 2005. I have some general questions which I hope someone out there can help me with.
Each month I have approx. 100.000 customers who buy a product.
I want to contact 10.000 of these with a letter for cross-selling some additional products.
Currently I choose these 10.000 randomly from the 100.000 customers. I now want to use SQL server 2005 data mining to choose these 10.000 better, to receive a better response rate. How do I transfer this knowledge to the 100.000 (potential cross-selling customers)
I understand that it could be set up in SQL server like the following:
case table: customer_id, gender, age, city, etc.
nested table: customer_id, product
Is this the way it should be approached and is there a special model/algorithm for this purpose?

after i installed sql server 2005 DM add-ins, i tried using it with office 2007 so i choose (start---->all programs----->microsoft sql 2005 dm add-ins---->getting started) so the getting started wizzard was opened, i selected from it (use an existing instance of microsoft sql server 2005 analysis services that i adminster) because i already had a version of it installed on my computer. then i tried to connect to analysis services by selecting 'server name'=local host, an error appeared which is "unable to discover meta data on the server 'local host' . user noha needs to be adminstrator of the server to run the configuration tool". how can i be the adminstrator of the server?????????.........plz reply me soon,thanks in advance

This package includes the source code for a sample plug-in algorithm written in C#.
in this source code all .cs files are modified for clustering algorithm
if my plugin algorithm is of association or classification type then what modifications are requried in source code???

I am attempting to create the "Classification - Children at Home" Data Mining Model as described in Larson's book.
Each time that I create it.. ONLY the ALL LEVEL is shown and it is impossible to expand the model to look at the Decision Tree, Neural Network, or the Clustering model etc. Drill down is enabled (tried it with and without enabling the drill down).
The Children at Home field has been populated with values from 0 - 4.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, Im new here so il start with a little introduction of myself, My name is Arjan im 19 years old from Holland, and i work for a company to compleet my ICT Education.
My situation:
My boss gave me a server with server 2003 standard and Sql server 2005 and visual studio 2005 installed already, he asked me if i could figure out how the 'new' reporting services work, Im pretty new to SQL and the reporting service but i figured out i had to install asp.net / frameworks and IIS.
So right now i wanna start the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and i get an error that says 'Invalid namespace' and when im trying to approach by using my browser i get 'page not found' so obviously their is Alot wrong. I asked my boss if i could not reinstall everything and do it in the correct order (IIS / ASP.net / Frameworks before installing SQL server 2k5 but that was not an option because we dont seem to have the cd's anymore.
The server is not connected to any network or the internet.
My Question:
Is their any way to fix this? and if yes could anyone tell me where to start

I followed the tutorial posted at [URL] ...
Everything was ok until the last step where I had to process the mining structure which resulted in a warning
"Informational (Data mining): Decision Trees found no splits for model, Tbl Decision Tree Example."
What does this error mean? How do I resolve it? Also, I only see the first level in the Mining Model Viewer, I don't see the levels 2 and 3.

Hoping someone will have a solution for this error
Errors in the metadata manager. The data type of the '~CaseDetail ~MG-Fact Voic~6' measure must be the same as its source data type. This is because the aggregate function is not set to count or distinct count.
Is the problem due to the data type of the column used in the mining structure is Long, and the underlying field in the cube has a type of BigInt,or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Having successfully created :
- a data mining structure with about 80 columns.
- a data mining model using Microsoft_Decision_Trees with 2 prediction columns.Â
I thought I would then explore the possibility of have more than 2 prediction columns, in this case 20.
I get an error message and I can't work out :
a) if this is because there's a limit to the maximum number of prediction columns and where that maximum is stated.
b) if something else has become corrupted
c) there's a know bug and if the error message is either meaningful or not.
Either way, I'm unable to complete the data mining wizardÂ
The error message is :Errors in the metadata manager. Either the mining structure with the ID of '[my model Structure]' does not exist in the database with the ID of 'DMAddinsDB', or the user does not have permissions to access the object.

Hi all,
I am using Microsoft_Time_Series and have set HISTORIC_MODEL_GAP to various values (from 1 to 21). I always get this error:
Error (Data mining): The 'HISTORIC_MODEL_GAP' data mining parameter is not valid for the 'My Time Series' model.
In Algorithm Parameters window, this parameters is not there by default, so I have to add it.
Any tip will be greatly appreciated.

Implementing data mining Add-in in an academic setting? We need to handle over 150 new students a semester and have their connection to Analysis Services survive for their four years at the college. We are introducing data mining to every freshman business student as a unit within their Intro to Excel class (close to a month of work to give them a sense of what is possible). Other courses later in their curriculum will expand on that introduction.Â
Once implemented, we would have as many as 900 connections to manage (four years from now). It is possible that multiple sections will be running at the same time, so 40 students may be accessing the data mining tools concurrently. Â
Is there a way to "bulk establish" the access credentials and establish those databases?

Hi,
I have just run a simple data set through a model to predict a simple true or false value (i.e. binary output)
The Lift Chart/Mining Legend in Analysis Services shows three results €“ Score, Population Correct (%), and Predict Probability (%)
Population Correct I beleive is the percentage of predictions it got right out of the total number of predictions it tried to make. Is this correct?
However, I can€™t work out how the other two are derived in particular the 'SCORE'. To give a live example the scores were as follows:
Model Score Pop Correct Pred Probability
Decision Trees 0.83 76.59% 54.28%
Neural Network 0.75 67.63% 50.05%
Ideal Model 100.00%
Can anyone help with this and give a detailed explanation?

Hi,
I am trying to model data in analysis services with the Advance Create Mining Model function in the excel addin. I am having trouble creating an association model that works like the Associate button above the Advanced button.
The format of my data is like this
OrderID Product
100 Bike
100 Helmet
100 Shoes
200 Helmet
200 basketball
200 Bat
300 Shoes
300 Socks
The associate button works perfectly since it asks me which column is the transaction id (orderid) and which column I am trying to predict (product). The advanced create mining model asks me to determine what the columns are...
OrderID=key Product=Input+Predict?
When I run the advance create mining model associate, I get a browser that gives me no rules and the support for only one item itemset (each product but no combination of products).
Does anyone know what I have to do to get it to work like the associate button?

I perform data mining on all products and a specific product category.
Do I need to create 2 data source views, one for all products and the other one for the specific product category?
Afterward, I run the Data Mining Wizard 2 times to create 2 mining structures.
I also need to add the same mining model (e.g. Bayes, Cluster) to each of these mining structures.
Is there any simple way to do it?

A rather dumb question but I've installed an evaluation copy of SQL 2005 on my machine and a colleague would like the Analysis Services Data Mining capability on his machine (without the eval SQL Server).
Is there a license associated with such an installation when we buy 2005 or does it fall under client components which can be installed on any number of users machines?

While recently working with several mining models, I came across something that struck me as pretty odd - and I'm hoping to find an explanation for the behavior.
Consider the following setup:
A single table in the relational database represents the only case table
A single, continuous column is the predictable
A mining structure has been created
The mining structure contains a single model, based on the MS Decision Trees algorithm
Input columns were selected for the model via the BI Studio wizard (i.e., those provided via the "Suggest" button)
The structure has been fully processed
Now, the interesting parts:
I view the scatterplot for the mining model, under the Mining Accuracy Chart tab
Back on the Mining Structure tab, I delete one of the input columns
I add the same column back into the structure
The structure is fully processed again
When I view the scatterplot for the mining model, under the Mining Accuracy Chart tab, a different set of data points are presented for the model predictions
A different set of decision trees under the Mining Model Viewer tab confirms thisHow could different patterns have been found this second time around, even though all of the input columns were the same (as well as the training cases)?
(Note: I encountered this situation while creating a new mining model that was identical to an existing one. Even though the models received the exact same inputs and training cases, they yielded different results. I was able to reproduce the behavior by using steps 1-6 above, though.)
Can someone provide some insight on this behavior, or some kind of explanation of what may be happening?

Unfortunately, the tutorial is for the Beta version, and therefore there are major differences from the Beta to the current version. The steps can be used as objectives to accomplish.
1). The last page of the tutorial (item 7), Deployment data mining models - Not covered in this tutorial at this moment. What needs to be done in the deployment?
2). The Decision Tree in my project has one node, how would I make the tree show up?
3). My data results are not consistent with the tutorial? Would the software modifications since Beta be the reason?
